Nestled near the small fishing port, the promenade and the lovely beach, the newly renovated Astoria hotel is an oasis of calm in the beautiful seaside village Agia Galini. This family-run hotel offers comfortable, tastefully furnished rooms, each with private bathroom, air conditioning and fridge.

The private balcony offers beautiful views of the Libyan Sea, the surrounding mountains or the hotel's garden. A comprehensive buffet breakfast is served each morning in the breakfast room or, if preferred, guests can enjoy breakfast in the privacy of their own room.

Occupying a prime position along the southern coast of Crete, Astoria hotel provides easy access to explore the island with its cultural riches and beautiful landscapes; guests can visit the archaeological site of Roman capital and the Minoan sites of Phaistos and Agia Triada. Room was super clean. A bit warm but easily taken care of. It’s not a super fancy place but for the price it was a great place to stay and enjoy a few days of skiing. Will 100% return.

Staff were courteous, the location was great! We got upgraded to a front facing room, got to see the mountains out our window. The room was a bit worn, but it is an old building. The mattress needs replacing. It was a warm place to stay while enjoying the sites :)

This place was nothing like the photos. Holes in the drywall. Could barely fit into the bathroom it was incredibly small. Bed was creaky and low quality. Bathtub felt like it had water under it and could barely keep balance when showering. Nice view was about the only positive. Will not be staying again.

Overall our experience at Astoria hotel was very pleasant! The staff were helpful and kind, helping us with an early check in, being accommodating to us. We were happy with the room, clean and has all the amenities we need. However a little too warm as we could not turn down the heaters. As well, parking was easy right in front of the hotel (keep in mind this is winter season and street parking is free until May).

The room was very small, probably because the hotel is over 100 years old. There was a king bed squeezed into the room which left very little space for anything else. Our first night there we had trouble sleeping because there was some function with loud music nearby. The room was very warm and we had trouble turning the heating down. We didnt really interact with the staff other than at check-in.

My room was clean, quiet and well attended to. A note mentioning that a microwave was down the hall may be a good idea. Is liked having the nice cup and saucers instead of paper or Styrofoam. Some form of TV channel directory would have been nice.

Room was clean, bed was comfortable. But my room was super tiny, just big enough for the bed. And the bathroom was even smaller. My shower knob would just spin in either direction making it extremely difficult to adjust the temperature. I understand the location and it was tourist season but for the $400 price tag during the middle of the week is ridiculous for this over priced hostel environment. I will note the attached bar had decent food and service was friendly when they were attentive, but I sat (at the bar) with an empty drink a few times for quite some time, place wasn’t dead but definitely wasn’t busy.

The hotel was and looked too old if not shabby inside. The overall conditions were just ok at the most. The room was small, and the bathroom was tiny, was not able to include its sink, which was in the corner in the bedroom room. The show head slipped down both during my and my wife’s shower. There was no elevator to get to the second floor. The nice thing of the hotel was it’s convenient to get to the next door restaurants. The parking was across the Main Street, though it was free. Sorry for my a bit critical feedback.

This has got to be the worst room I have ever seen in my travels. The room was tiny , the beds were tiny , on flimsy bed frames . The basin is jammed in next to the bed and the toilet and miniscule shower is in a cupboard. The furniture would be dumped - see photo. TV didn’t work.
The hotel should be ashamed to charge the rates they do for this place. One saving grace was the receptionist who was helpful.

I really liked that it was right down town. Very convenient.
We arrived 1 hour before check in time and they didn’t have an early check in option or a place to store our bags. The hotel was nice but you can tell it’s old. Doors don’t close quietly and the bathroom was very cramped.
The staff was very pleasant and always had a smile when you walked by.

Bad Bathrooms with very small rooms. The king size bed I booked was only a queen size bed. The front desk person was missing most of the time. They said someone will help with baggage, when checking out, no one was there to help.
