Peaceful, spotless, beautiful. The staff are so helpful. Breakfast was pleasant, with the patio, water features and arbour of colourful flowers. Location very convenient for the nearby bars, restaurants, shops, sea port and its adjacent bus stop and taxi rank but nevertheless very quiet and salubrious. Spacious, well-decorated. The room was nice, with a balcony overlooking the courtyard with port visible, plus air conditioning, a fridge with free mineral water and decent en suite shower with free toiletries. I’m surprised this place doesn’t have more stars!

Conveniently located in downtown/port area. You can even walk to the beach nearby or took a short taxi ride to better beaches on the island if you're planning a longer stay for the day. Hotel is in good enough condition, good/typical breakfast; we were happy overall for the price.

Nice hotel in centre of Sklala, very convenient to everything, but quiet. Free parking nearby. Great breakfast. Staff pleasant and helpful, although we were promised a wake-up call at midnight in order to catch an early ferry, and we were not called. This could have been a very inconvenient error.

Quiet, even though close to all the nightlife.

Perfect location if you’re arriving on a late-night ferry. Can walk there easily.
Checked in at midnight, all at reception desk are very friendly and helpful.
Small, clean swimming pool, can walk to harbor beach or the shops and restaurants in Skala. Taxi stand just across street about 1 block away, so you can easily get to other beaches, Cave of Revelation and St. John’s Monastery. The views from up there are spectacular. We really enjoyed our stay here—extended it by 3 nights.

Old fashioned and untidy. Has needed upgrading years ago. Noise echoes around the property, close one door and everyone knows it. Offers a pool, which is located on the side of the car park and the water was green allegedly from seaweed. Left after one night even though we had paid for three.

A great hotel in a prime location.

A lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Easy for buses and taxis and set amongst the lovely village of Skala. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and had everything we needed. If I had to give feedback on improvement it would be that the pool needs a regular clean. It is sea water and lovely to swim in but there were a lot of bugs. However as soon as I asked, someone came with a net to fish some of them out.

Excellent location. Very clean. A few minutes from the ferry terminal, yet set back from the road in a garden full of bougonvillia, so peaceful and quiet. Very helpful staff. Well appointed rooms, excellent bathrooms and a pleasant balcony. We have been hopping round the Greek islands for years and the breakfast was one if the best we have ever had in Greece. Wifi was both stable and very good.

However, there were no matress protectors on the beds, although these seem the norm in the most simple of Greek accommodation these days. There was also nowhere to dry swimwear/towels; surprising considering the hotel had a pool and beach boats and buses were nearby.

We just enjoyed a great two week stay at the Skala Hotel. The hotel is set back from the sea front and 2 minutes walk from the centre. You literally walk from the busy seafront through an arbour of trees and bushes in to the peace and tranquillity of the hotel. Although holidaying in peak season we never found Skala (the town) too busy and never had a problem finding space in a restaurant or bar and there are many to choose from within 5 minutes walk from the hotel!

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was spotless and cleaned every day and the breakfasts were excellent. There’s a nice pool at the hotel, we used it a few times but mostly went out to the beaches. The nearest one was a few minutes walk from the hotel but we often took the bus to Kampos Beach and hired a couple of sunbeds for the day.

It’s not a huge island and if you’re looking to explore or visit some of the more remote beaches and sights there are plenty of car and scooter rental companies around. We hired one for 3 days and other than that used the bus.

All in all a great hotel and a great holiday, looking forward to our next stay!

Great location, enjoyable place to stay

Located about 5 minutes’ walk from ferry/bus terminal, and close to many eating/shopping options. Excellent service and assistance from staff. Spacious and comfortable room with small balcony. Very good buffet breakfast with pleasant indoor/outdoor seating. Good wi-fi, although performance was variable. Happy for guests to use hotel facilities during day when catching late ferry. Definitely recommend this hotel on Patmos.

Skala Hotel is a short walk from the port, close to many restaurants and tavernas, by the harbour which is a lively place. It is a tranquil oasis, a private courtyard filled with bougainvillea, and a view of the Monastery on the hill, whilst eating breakfast. The staff of the hotel were very friendly and helpful, and interested in their guests. It is possible to walk to the medieval village of Chora on old pathways, to see the monastery or the Cave of The Apocolypse. A very well cared for hotel. Highly recommended.

The Only Place to Stay in Skala, Patmos!

Location! Location! Location! It's close to everything you might need - the port, square, shops and restaurants! We stayed in room 204. It's clean and spacious enough for 2 big luggages and 3 small luggages. We emailed them weeks before our trip about our vegan breakfast and requested for soy milk. They promptly assured that they'd take care of that and they delivered their promise! The Manager and his team are warm, friendly and helpful!

The Skala - a Patmos hotel with a real view!

The Skala is a great hotel and with an excellent location - just a few minutes walk from the pier where one gets off from the ferry to the island. The view of the monastery of St. John from a person's hotel window was tremendous. Late September-early October is a very good time to visit since the tourist traffic is much less than in the summer months and the island is \"winding down\" for the end of the season.

Speaking as someone who has over 30 years experience in the hospitality trade.This was a pleasure staying there compared to some hotels i have stayed in during my travels through the Greek islands. Basically its professionally managed. All it takes is a nice smile,a hello,hows your day been etc. Its not rocket science.
Once you have that right mix,with a great location,a brilliant shower and good wifi what more do you want.Well done Skala hotel. I wish other hotels would get the simple things right

Good location close to port. Toilet didn't function properly. Pool was a weird, dirty color, so not usable, hut a red rain had occurred a day or two before. Nice breakfast each morning. Would return.

Charming Hotel!

The Skala Hotel is a short walk from the ferry port on Patmos. The building is older, but full of charm and one is struck by the spaciousness compared with many other European Hotels. The rooms are white-walled with wooden furniture and turquoise drapes and spreads, with updated bathrooms and rooms have a balcony and are equipped with a minibar. The staff was very kind. I was greeted by a very friendly young lady and very soon afterwards, the hotel manager came out and introduced himself with a handshake. Both were extremely polite.

The beds were comfortable, especially after climbing the mountain up to the Chora Monastery. My balcony overlooked the courtyard with views to the harbour and up the mountain to Chora.

All in all, my only regret is that I did not have the time to stay more than one night. In the event that I return to Patmos, I will definitely book with the Skala Hotel.

Our stay at The Skala Hotel, Patmos

You get off the ferry and walk for about two minutes and there it is, the Skala Hotel which you enter via an archway of pink flowers hanging above you head. I love this private entrance which means you are right in the heart of Skala on the main road with shops just behind and yet, you are 25 metres or so behind it all which massively reduced the street noise. It means you are in a calm environment yet not secluded from where you enjoy going to, the beach, the restaurants, the shops, the sea...The reception service was very efficient and had responded very efficiently and professionally to a private request. As it was our Wedding Anniversary and they knew about this, we were welcomed with a bottle of wine and two glasses with the hotel's compliments. The bathrooms have been modernised very recently and although the hotel has clearly been around for a long while, one feels secure and calm yet pampered at the same time. The cleaning staff and bar man too were very accommodating, the bar man giving us a free coctail on the last day as he wasn't able to find my first request which included coconut milk, so he brought me an even more delicious one over to my lounger. The pool is beautifully positioned and has salt water which personally I like very much. You can sit in the pool whilst having a drink at the bar and the water is most pleasant to swim in. Shame there is not swimming after 8.00 though but then apparantly this is common elsewhere.

Excellent Hotel and the Staff were Incredible!

From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us as if we were family. Anything we needed, and anytime we needed it they were available. We needed a car, and the owner called about 10 or 11 different places just to try to find one for us in the busiest time of year. We wanted information, they told us everything we could have ever dreamed of wanting to know about the island - even the bartender Dimitris gave us a few hidden tips about the island over a drink.

Breakfast was fresh and abundant every morning and they were still bringing new food even up to the moment that breakfast was supposed to be over (which any frequent traveler will know is a big thing!).

It's very near the port (about a 5 minute walk, maybe not even), which was a massive help after a day of planes, taxis and ferries.

We can not recommend this place enough. When we return we will definitely be staying here.

Very convenient location

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I could walk to the hotel from the ferry, and all the shops and stores were a two minute walk. The staff was very friendly and cooperative. The room was comfortable and clean. After I spent the morning climbing up to the Monastery of St. John (from the bus stop) and then walking down to the Cave of the Apocalypse, my bad knees were aching badly. I was going to walk to the beach and soak in the sea, but the pool was right there and I did not want to walk any farther. The pool water seemed to be saltier than the sea, and it was warm. The extra saltiness allowed me to float and soak my knees. It was wonderful. My camera had died, and I needed a new one. The staff sent me to the electronics store with a personal recommendation from the hotel to take care of me. They did. So, I was very appreciative of their help.

Excellent location and service

We were 6 in our group. Tired and weary from the long boat trip from turkey via bodrum to kos to Patmos. The hotel's proximity to the port is very good and we arrived at 1 am. We showered and went to sleep. Clean hotel. Good breakfast spread nothing fancy. Very helpful staff.
