The management actually came to my hotel room and directed me as to what to say in my review!!!!
While my service was good, I was shocked to have management actually come into my room and look over my shoulder as I wrote my review! I certainly did not need the manager telling me what to say! The whole thing was weird!!!

It might have been a 4 star hotel in the 90s. But in 2025 it needs major uplift. Having no AC in the corridors was a disappointment as one feels very hot. Then, the carpet in the corridor psychologically makes one feel hot. Lifts are quite small and one was under maintenance. I had to get the shower stopper repaired as it kept falling off. The towels were really old. The bed cover had strange black dirt on it. House keeping were very prompt in changing the bed linen.

On the positive side, the staff were very receptive and took care of all issues reported.

I had the pleasure of staying at The Sonnet, Bidhannagar from December 23, 2024, to January 5, 2025, and my experience was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the exceptional staff at the reception, who ensured a smooth and hassle-free check-in process. Their professionalism, courtesy, and attention to detail set the tone for a truly delightful stay.

Throughout my time at The Sonnet, I was continually impressed by the impeccable hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to make sure every aspect of my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Whether it was room service, housekeeping, or the restaurant team, everyone was friendly, efficient, and always eager to help with a smile.

The rooms were well-maintained, spacious, and equipped with all modern amenities, providing a perfect blend of comfort and luxury. The food at the in-house restaurant was delicious, offering a variety of choices that catered to different tastes. The quality of service, both in the restaurant and in-room dining, was exemplary.

A special mention to the reception team, whose warmth and professionalism truly stood out. They were always available to assist with any queries, from travel arrangements to local recommendations, ensuring that I had a seamless experience.

Overall, my stay at The Sonnet was exceptional, thanks to the wonderful staff, top-notch hospitality, and excellent service. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kolkata.

The whole floor smelled of fresh paint. Nauseating. If there is paint job going on, the property should have informed us earlier and even after mentioning this to the staff, and their assurance that they will do something about it, they did nothing.

The bar staff was incompetent. They don't know their drinks.

The door men were very respectful, courteous and helpful.

I stayed here 2 years back and I can say the quality detoriated pretty bad. It looks more shabby and smells.

Not worth approx $90 per night.

Hotel staff show a good service mentality - I wanted a slightly early check in and a late check out and they were accommodating. The only restaurant had a good buffet breakfast as well as options available right through the day. But one significant issue is the wifi quality - connectivity was very poor in my first 2 days (Almost non existent) and even after the technical team did some trouble shooting to improve things, the wifi kept dropping and there was a constant need to reconnect devices.

We stayed in Sonnet for multiple during our trip to India. Starting from management to all staff members be in the restaurant to doormen, everyone was extremely friendly and courteous. The rooms were clean and spacious and cleaning staff were always available in a moment’s notice. I was very impressed with the quick response and speed of execution.

The hotel needs renovation and they are doing that. The construction sound can be annoying. Some rooms are dated. Their staff is great and the food was great too. Breakfast is definitely VFM and ala-crate were done really well as per our special instructions. The area around the hotel has deteriorated in the past 5 years not the fault of the hotel tho but it’s a turn off.

This Hotel is very conveniently located close to transport, shopping, restaurants and offers a good dining and bar facility and Gym. The pool was closed due to covid-19 restrictions. The staff is really helpful. Conveniently located is a hospital next door where it was convenient to get a PCR test. The Hotel is however showing some wear and tear and needs some makeover.

I had paid for the stay through Expedia on 29th Jan, but the hotel said they did not receive the payment and made me pay again. I showed them the proof of my pay, but they do not care. What a shame, I trusted Expedia, but they used a third party to pay for the hotel and was not done. This is very bad, I checked the reviews before I signed up for the hotel, but still cant believe this. Very sad and unpleasant. Not sure will Expedia act on this matter with the hotel staff.

There was a party at the terrace of third floor, whose loud speakers disturbed entire half side of hotel till 11.30 PM. Booked a premium room in advance but they gave me an connecting room in which another bachelor party was going on, the hotel changed my room at 2 am when I literally shouted because I had to catch morning flight. Worst experience. Feeling cheated

I stayed with my family for 9 nights. The stay was good. The rooms were clean. The WiFi was reliable. It was a shame we couldn’t get a WiFi password for the entire stay. We had to ask for a new one everyday. We used the fitness room. The hotel supplied bottles of water daily. We used the pool everyday. My son cut his foot on something ? A broken tile or glass in the pool. The staff were very attentive when this happened.
Unfortunately the (expensive) taxi we booked to take us back to the airport never turned up. It was a shame as it leaves us with a bad impression of the hotel.

The best in personalized service

From the moment I was retrieved from the Kolkata airport until I left the hotel 5 days later, the staff of the Sonnet did everything possible to make me feel truly cared for. Each staff quickly learned my name and my daily preferences, seeking to anticipate my needs in advance of my having to ask. Maneesha was especially helpful throughout my stay, and I depended upon her assistance for many things, even sending another staffer to escort me to a nearby pharmacy. This hotel is conveniently located for airport connections, and they can arrange car and driver for reasonable price to take you into downtown Kolkata for sight seeing. The size of this hotel lends itself to the very thoughtful personalized service. I recommend it highly.

The room is comfortable but the shower drainage was blocked which I never expected after paying such a high price for the room. Also one of the false ceiling tile of the washroom fell down, sometime in the middle of the night, with lots of dirt falling in the washroom. Never happened before with me. Lunch was not upto the mark in terms of quality. The staff is helpful and nice though.

After long flights from the USA, The Sonnet was the right choice for our comfort. They made arrangements for my husband and I to be picked up by a taxi. The staff was welcoming and the room comfortable. The buffet was delicious. Our overall experience was excellent.

Hotel away from the CBD

Staff from this hotel had emailed me at least 2 weeks before we departed for India to confirm the booking.
During our flight to India and while we were in transit I received 2 emails stating that the booking was going
to be cancelled unless I porvided credit card details on the return email. In panic I rang the hotel and was
informed they had no payment details.They did not acknowledge that this info could have been obtained
at least 2 weeks before our stay. Due to the stress we nearly missed our connecting flight. Having stayed
in many hotels around the world we had never experienced the threat of a cancellation within a few hours of our checkin!
The staff at the hotel were inexperienced and had difficulty understanding English despite it's claims as being a 4star
international hotel. The staff were rude to us and our guests and impatient with our requests. They refused to put through
calls to our room and didn't change the linen despite our repeated requests over the 2 week of our stay. The hotel did not
provide toiletries and freash towels each day or replace the toillet paper. Why is this hotel rated 4 star? It should be 2 stars if that! We will not be staying at this hotel again.

Located near City Centre 1, this is a 4 Star hotel, with Club rooms par excellence while the normal rooms a bit cramped. All the room facilities either worked or was attended to e.g., needed a wifi extender to get the full strength of the wifi signal. The breakfast is a wide spread and was the highlight of the trip.

I stayed in a Club Room, which is a good size and excellent value. High speed wifi access is included, which is a great benefit compared with some of the five-star brands. The club room has a seating area with a comfortable sofa. Service is efficient and friendly and there is a good and cost-effective laundry service. I found the food to be tasty with a good choice. The evening buffet is good value. I recommend The Sonnet as a hotel that provides excellent value - the best that I know of in its category in the Saltlake area.

I checked in at hotel sonnet on 24th June and had stayes for a day. Had a lovely time there,with neat and clean room.The best thing about the hotel is breakfast and its locatiom near city centre. The only thing i would line to see is a bigger pool and a better gym. overall it was a good experience.

Solid four star hotel with all the expected. Good breakfast with both Indian and Western choices. Quiet location, a bit far from downtown but taxis are cheap though unpredictable. We paid 170-250 rupees to the oberoi grand with street yellow cabs versus Asking prices of up to 800 with AC cabs parked in front of the hotel...

Easy access to airport.
Most staff very helpful.
Only bad point was the check in. When I arrived at the reception the girl told me to take a seat.after 10 mins of no response I contacted a man at the counter. he also said I have to wait for a particular
Person. Finally one of the staff checked me in.But he was unfriendly and kept asking me for ID like an interrogation. The hotel must ensure the check in is quick and staff need to be friendly.
