We had a good stay and really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. However, I was emailing with the hotel for a week about scheduling an airport pick up and they refused to give me a final confirmation even though I provided everything they asked for. When we landed, there was no one at the airport for us so we had to get cash at an ATM and take a taxi.

The room was fine and nothing negative to say, but the 4th floor where our room was (including our room of 418) stank of stale smoke. There is such a pungent smell of smoke that has seaped into the carpet and walls it's really unpleasant - our room was bad but the corridor was so bad we genuinely had to hold our nose/breath when coming out the room to go to the lift. Would not recommend

Everything was more or less up to the mark other than our dining experience. For dinner we ordered medium rare steak from the downstairs restaurant with buttered veggies and mashed potatoes. This is when things started to go downhill, the mashed came first, 10 mins later the veggies and 5 mins after that the steak. The steak was over cooked to the max, so much so that it was rubbery and not possible to cut.

We had to send it back and at 1130 pm, with heavy rain outside, we had no other option other than to order from the same place again. This time we ordered the devilled fish and chicken, average and not the best.

Not returning for sure.

The night manager was rude and not helpful at all. He charged us double and made sure to put us in a room at the extreme side of the hotel with 2 single beds despite having booked a king size bed and with the noisiest air conditioning ever. Do not stay at this place.

Mixed experience with Ramada Colombo

I have had a mixed experience with Ramada. During my check-in, I was just handed a key. No one told me where the elevators are, where my luggage is, and how to get to my room. I must say that the room was very clean and I appreciate that. During breakfast, people should have access to drinking water, the toaster should be replaced, live stations should be able to better manage the queue. Another key issue we had was noise. Since the property is right on the street, the rooms should have better sound-proofing. Our sleep quality was significantly affected by car horns everyday and one day the other hotel across the street played music so loud from 7 am to 11 pm that we could feel the beats in our room. This was very distressing. I had/still have an issue with my Wyndham account. I talked to night shift Duty Manager who asked me to talk to Duty Manager during day time. I talked to him, he tried with my phone, and then asked me to email my issue. I emailed on 28 February, and yet to get any response. During check-out, I asked for a bill and the reception told me that they can't give me any bill as I booked through a third party website!!!

Well, apart from these experience, I generally liked my stay. The location is great, the rooms are spacious and clean, housekeeping staff are courteous, breakfast is good. But the above issues should be addressed. I also would like to give a special shout out to Madhavi (I hope I spelled her name correctly)! She has been very helpful.

The room was spacious. Neat and tidy. Bathroom was clean. Linen were good too. 2 big beds, a working table and a couch. Lots of storage space. The stay was quite comfortable. Walkable distance to Galle Face beach.

We did not opt for the Breakfast choice while booking. Upon enquiring at the reception, we were told it costed 4K LKR per head, which we felt is pretty expensive.

After 22 plus years my wife and I visited Sri Lanka for a short holiday not knowing what we would experience or receive during our short stay. We arrived in Sri Lanka early in the morning on 19th July. We booked our hotel stay at Ramada Colombo via Expedia from 18th July till 24th July and left for Kandy. We resided in Rms 613 and 806.

Our experience during our short stay at Ramada was phenomenal. We found that all departments in the hotel coordinated very well to look after us and make our stay there comfortable. Staff were very polite, humble and professional at all times. We witnessed staff dedication and effort throughout our stay at RAMADA. Staff in all areas were welcoming and always greeted us with a smile. This was very humbling. Staff went the extra mile to make sure that we were happy and content during our stay there. We are confident to say that all staff are an asset to the Hotel. They always made sure to protect the reputation of Ramada hotel.
The food was delicious and tasty. Each day there was a wide variety of food provided which catered to all choices.
We also found Ramada offers a wide variety of facilities under one roof, which we loved to have after coming from New Zealand. We felt as if we were at home in the hotel. Without a shadow of doubt, we will recommend to others. We are hoping to visit again next year and book the same hotel.

It was worst experience in my past 13 years travel.
Check inn took 45 minutes and check out took over 1 hour. It is just because of unprofessional staff. They do not able to calculate the currency conversion.

And room service is one of the worst service in this Hotel. Deliver order took 45 min to an hour if you follow up again again by call. Otherwise you don't know.
Location is very good but hotel staff services are very poor very..

was really helpful in assisting us to change rooms. He is a good example of a Duty Manager should be. All staff were friendly and helpful as usual. We have stayed at this Hotel before, and the location is ideal for Galle Face Green and the shopping centre.

Good value for the location

Overall, the hotel, service and cleanliness is good. But there were few glitches.
1) We received a non smoking room on a 'non-smoking floor (as per their own label for the floor). But the entire corridor smelled of heavy smoke. Thankfully, our room did not smell smoke though.
2) Reaching room service via in room calling, took several attempts and a lengthy wait time - even when it was successful to get to someone on the other end.
3) Staff can be more professional than personal when they approach guests.

On the plus side, food was tasty, decent portion sizes, our room view was nice overlooking the main road with partial sea and skyline views.
Bakery products were not impressive in their taste or textures.

Overall, can recommend to another and may visit again.

I arrived the day after the bombings so there were lots of army around and security checks were in place. Nevertheless, my stay was pleasant and without drama.

We arrived quite late at night and despite already having reservations, found that the room wasn't ready. Luckily it did not take too long to prepare. The rooms were bit dated and definitely had loads of dust in the corners. The surrounding area did not have much but it was near to the Crescat shopping centre.

My elderly parents were vacationing in Srilanka with a stop over in Colombo. As my family has spent many vacations at the Ramadha under its former name the Holiday inn, I thought its proximity to all amenities will make it a central location and it turned out to be so. They enjoyed four day stay very much.

Good place to stay -- conveniently located in Colombo. However - it is the staff who makes this hotel special. The door men are so kind and helpful - with a smile to welcome you. The front desk is efficient. The dining room staff is the amazing. Willing to work with dietary concerns and have a very kind a helpful attitude. The breakfast buffet has something for everyone... with local favorites and international delights. The housekeeping staff is also helpful. So -- enjoy the hotel but appreciate the helpful staff who will make you feel welcome.

Not worth the money!

Stay somewhere else. This hotel is rediculously priced for what you get. The room was the worst I have stayed in. Dated, dirty and no amenities. When we asked why thete was nothing in the room at all they daid it was because we had 4month old with us. Staff were not very helpful and did not give any options - we asked if there was a laundrette around they said only the hotels service. Room service was a rip off - $7 for an orange juice. Everytime we asked for something the price was inflated and unreasonable - 900 ruppees for a taxi 300m down the road! We ended up walking to the wedding!
We wished we had stayed somewhere else and would have changed hotels if they had not made us pay in advance.

Decent stay for decent hotel rate

For the rate that I got it was OK. Yes it is an old hotel that has been remodeled, but the drainage wasn't good, and there were ants/termites everywhere. At one point I turned off the lights momentarily and when I turned it back on, there was a cockroach on my bed. The breakfast buffet was mediocre. The only good things about my stay were the fast WIFI, fast hot water, decent gym and pool, and vicinity of the tourist area. If I had to pay more I would definitely choose other options.

My stay was short but pleasant. It was my birthday during that period and to my surprise, I came back to my room on my birthday and there was a box of cake for me, from the hotel! This was super thoughtful and nice, especially considering that I was alone and hadn't had cake that day!

Centrally located, pleasant hotel in a safe area.

We explored Colombo over several days and took a day trip to Kandy. The travel desk was helpful arranging tours and giving general information. The in house restaurant staff were always friendly and helpful. Proximity to hotels such as Taj, Kingsbury ensured a convenient choice of restaurants. Street culture nearby on the beach was nice to observe. The cozy nooks near the swimming pool encouraged quiet time.
Altogether a pleasant stay occurred.

Clean hotel just few steps away from the ocean

Check in was fast. Room was specious, and also the bathroom. The place in general is clean, and lobby was nice. Staff so helpful. Location is good as the hotel located at the center of Colombo, and just few steps from the ocean. The negative points as the following:
1- although staff so friendly and helpful but they were not professional, as the called me many times and waked me up during the check out date starting from 9 am !
2- complementary wifi was so slow.
3- noice from outside of the hotel, and also from the corridor was so obvious.

Nice hotel in the heart of the city

Front desk staff were extremely polite. So we're the staff at breakfast. Rooms were spacious with ample room for baggage storing. This was unlike the rooms in Europe where you tend to trip over your baggage due to lack of space.
Walking distance to Galle Face Green and the beach.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is well located just across from Galle Face with great walks and sunsets. The hotel is very comfortable and has everything needed, including a pool. Front desk staff were helpful and quick. Our room was very comfortable with wifi, TV, coffee making facilities, safe, etc.. During our stay only the coffee shop was open. Breakfast was good but in the evening the buffet food was cold and the wait staff somewhat indifferent. We did complain but without results. This was unfortunate as otherwise this is a good choice.

We travel to Colombo once or twice a year. There are many choices of fine hotels in downtown Colombo that we have visited for dinner, drinks, etc. We prefer to stay at Ramada because its just the right size. They staff knows you and is very helpful and will accommodate your requests if possible. We appreciate the friendliness of the coffee shop staff and helpfulness of those at the front desk. We also have gotten to know the doorman who have a welcoming smile whenever you arrive at the hotel.
