Two day stopover in Colombo at the end of our trip

Hotel was nice, very busy, breakfast seemed to cater for all cultures but I wouldn’t recommend the western food as it was average

Pool area was quiet, they were setting up the World Cup stuff, for some reason one of the staff decided to start jet washing the pool in the middle of the day - one of the guests complained after an hour but common sense would have told you not to do that, area looked like a building site, would expect the things there were doing were done early morning

Area around it is nice, Dutch hospital very good, Galle shopping centre was also very nice, anywhere else is very poor

All in all would say 4 out of 5 stars is fair

This is a great hotel and for me the location was fantastic. Comfy bed, quiet room, great staff, food was also great. I would definitely stay here again. The hotel does everything really well, but it is also a pretty large property, so it is pretty busy at all times, but I would definitely stay here again.

Fabulous staff, world class customer service!

As always - the staff are amazing and world class, also the gym is well equiped. One of the reasons I keep going back to Hilton!

But the other parts of the hotel even with the renovations still looks aged. And will find it difficult to compete with the new ones, I am sure it's already felt.

The Hilton is a gorgeous hotel and the staff, service, food, rooms and the ambience makes it perfect. I must say a special thanks to Gaveena who made the check in process so delightful. For our wait time she provided us a newly renovated room with spectacular views. I would definitely stay at the Hilton again!

We stayed 2 nights, the staff were very attentive and welcoming. The lobby area is very impressive however our room was a little tired and the bathroom basic with a shower bath and curtain. I would have expected better for Hilton. However, the breakfast buffet was superb as was our dinner at the Emperors Wok. The swimming pool is quite a walk from the hotel and you need to use a private bridge to cross the road to the pool (so lots of steps). You also need to walk through the hotel lobby and bar/piano area to get to the lift which whilst in swimming gear and towel I found annoying.

Hotel a staff very good. Arrived when prime. Minister there so security ++ particularly pleased that allowed early check I and late checkout. Buffet breakfast /dinner excellent.
Good pool and gym. Roads facing the road will attract some noise so worth going for sea view. Area busy but within walking distance of beach, fort shopping malls if u can cross road. Near railway station and track comes close to swimming pool.

This was our first stay at the Colombo Hilton and it was pure bliss! My daughter has food allergies and Sagee made sure that these were all dealt with. All staff are spot on with customer service and smiles. A few to mention are Omesh / Laksitha/ Lanka/ Fiona and Natasha...and this will now be my default place to stay when I am in Colombo. The bar and pond areas allow for max relaxation too.

Not worth the money.
Initially they gave me a room which has a issue with the toilet, then when complained to the reception they offered me a room in the refurbished area. However when discussing with the reception they said the customers like the broken toilets, which was absurd. 2nd room they offered had a leak from the AC at 5:30 am. Honestly not worth the money spent for this hotel and I will never go there again as the service was equally poor.

The Hilton Colombo has a stunning lobby and during our visit it was beautifully decorated for the Christmas holiday. The breakfast buffet is absolutely incredible and virtually every type of cuisine was covered. The pond by the lobby and restaurant had black swans. The location near the restaurant, Ministry of the Crab and some shopping was convenient.

While the lobby is modern and stunning, our room was far from that. We were \"upgraded\" to a suite however unlike the photos which show relatively modern rooms, ours was very outdated. While in general it was comfortable and very spacious and the corner room view was fantastic, the noise from the street was disturbing. I woke up from the train whistly at 4:30am, just to have a mosque's morning call to prayet start then at 4:45 and then the constant morning traffic and honking of the tuk tuks and buses. We were even on the upper levels of the hotel and the noise made it difficult to sleep and had to use noise cancelling headphones. They were also conducting renovations in the rooms so even after being disturbed from sleep at 4:30am we had a hard time taking a much needed nap because of the nearby room renovations. I hope that the hotel replaces the windows with triple paned windows and sound proofing. We didn't use the pool as it was located a short walking distance from the main building and the afternoon heat was already too much to endure a walk in the sun to get there.
I would most likely not stay at this hotel again

Unfortunately it was not as comfortable stay as we expected.

When we made the booking we specifically requested a non smoking room but unfortunately on our 1st night we were given a room within the smoking area. Even though the person checking us in promised a room upgrade next day, it never materialised - just more excuse!

Prior to our stsy at the Hilton we were at the Kingsbury (5 nights) and the room and the bed was much more comfortable than the one we had at the Hilton.

The Hilton Colombo is a beautiful hotel that is starting to show its age. It is currently undergoing a gradual renovation that will hopefully bring it back to its original glory. The hotel has one of the most impressive lobbies that I've ever seen. Curvy high ceilings that are enhanced with creative lighting greet you as you walk in. The rooms are nicely laid out with comfortable beds, separate seating areas and a convenient desk. It's situated on a major crossroad so street noise comes in early in the morning. I didn't mind it because the level was tolerable, but just in case you're sensitive to traffic noise, ask for a quiet room. There are several restaurants on the premises. It's not unusual that The Graze, the most popular eating space, is full on weekends. The pool and the gym/spa are across the road and can be reached by crossing a bridge without exiting to the street. A tunnel would have been preferable, especially when raining. The gym/spa is in desperate need of not just a renovation, but also an upgrade to bring it in line with modern standards. Last and not least, service is impeccable throughout.

The property needs a serious upgrade to it's rooms. Very old and no modern conveniences in the room. The rooms equate to an American motel. Too bad for such a property. The service staff was excellent, and the F&B was great. The pool is inconvenient, in that you have to go a distance from the hotel crossing a bridge over a a busy road.

The lobby and foyer areas are lovely but the rooms especially the bathroom is HORRIBLE and badly in need of a renovation. We had to move rooms due to the discomfort and were told that the hotel has not been upgraded in 32 years. If the Hilton name has to be maintained then a huge makeover is necessary as there is heaps of competition in Colombo.

The lobby and the restaurants are wonderful. It’s time to change the carpets in the rooms if they want to keep a 4-5 star rating. I liked the hotel and would stay again for a cheaper price that is in line with the worn carpet. Great location. I walked from the train station to the hotel. Paid 1600 lkr for a three minute car ride back to the train station. While money isn’t an issue for me, principal is at the forefront. Overall a lovely stay.

Ordered in-room dining, hotel staff asked me to pay cash or give him credit card- which never happened in any other 5 star hotels. ( I already gave my credit card info when I checked in)

Hotel rooms are really outdated and dirty.

When I checked out, I was asked to pay a balance of Rs2000. Hotel staff said whatever I prepaid on Hotels.com is not enough... (actually, they said my booking was under Expedia & a travel agent...)

Check in was very slow, I was ignored for 10 mins after they started. I also ordered a hotel car to the airport which they didn’t arrange so I had to take an Uber instead. Hotel lobby and bar are nice but rooms are a bit shabby. Pool is quite a long walk over a bridge and next to a busy railway line, not very relaxing! Breakfast and dinner were very good though.

There are lovely black swans in a fountain while you enjoy breakfast. The food was delicious. The location was perfect and central. Staff was super helpful and friendly. We arrived late late at night and the staff got us in our rooms fast with no silly waiting. It was much appreciated!

Great hotel in center with easy access to transpor

Hotel is great with good facilities and I had a room overlooking the sea. I arrived early and they got me a room without a fuss. Had to extend my stay and that too wasn’t a problem. It’s walking distance from the Galle Face and Colombo’s main train station. Plenty of transport too. Food is great, with a good variety. Compared to the hotels nearby the outer needs some maintenance but rooms are clean and comfy. Pool & gym are a bit of a walk from the rooms. All in all enjoyed my stay.

In all our hotel stays in Sri Lanka this time, the Hilton Colombo provided the best customer experience! Their common areas and restaurants have been refreshed and look very very elegant but the rooms are yet to be done; quit small, look tired and some of the features did not work, even for a HHonors Executive Floor. I understand that the refresh is planned. However, the location, the views and the customer experience is just unbeatable!

A brilliant customer experience!!!

This is by far the best customer experience that I have had across the places that I have visited over the past 4-5 years, with the exception of Royal Plaza Hong Kong. Unfortunately they are at a pre renovation stage having freshened-up the common and dining venues and therefore the rooms look tired and the features look dated. However the service is unparalleled and the Sri Lankan service ethic and sincerity makes it even more appealing. I will be back for sure to hopefully a Hilton that has been freshened up and unbeatable even based on the brand spanking new properties of a multitude of new premium entrants.

Great location for me (my customer is in the building next door), and mostly no dramas with ground transportation, room service, etc., but had some issues during checkout. But hey, they gave me some tea as an apology, so not all bad....
