Best breakfast buffet I have ever seen. The reason I did not check out early. Nice size rooms but safe had lock removed. Staff are helpful and speak English but some have limited tolerance to touring Americans. Could be due to off season alignment. I might recommend nearby Alicante instead.

It's a nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The tv had English channels. It was close to a main road which you could hear from the balcony though not in the room. The hotel is a little out of town but there is a bus stop outside. It was a short walk straight down to the beach where there were some great cafes and restaurants

Quiet hotel in mid-September with friendly and helpful staff. It is not far from the beach and next to Pola Park (a small children's theme park). There are a number of restaurants in the area. We stayed half board, unfortunately the food wasn't kept hot enough after cooking (the warmers need to be turned up and the heat lamps in the top weren't giving off much heat) and had little variety, so after a few days it became boring. The breakfast has hot and cold options, but the hot breakfast was only lukewarm and had to be microwaved to be hot enough to eat (not ideal for fried eggs). They also ran out of bread and butter so toast became unavailable on one day. There is plenty of free parking on the street outside or you can park in the hotel car park which incurs a daily charge of 8 Euros at the time of our stay. The swimming pool is of a medium size and clean but there are not many sun beds (around 12), there is also a children's pool that is separated from the main pool. The room was of a nice size with a large bathroom (we were given a family room although there was only two of us). There is a large bar area with a nice veranda. The bar is staffed by the reception/dining room people so we had to wait for someone to come at times, but it wasn't an issue. We would stay there again in the future but would only choose bed and breakfast.

this was our second stay at the Hotel Gran Playa
within a year, we checked in late due to flight delays
from Madrid to Alicante in the historic (el Apagon)
black out in Spain the receptionist explained about the
black out and no electricity no lights in our room tired and
hungry from the ordeal and no bars or restaurants to go to, a lovely lady getting ready to go home after her shift
I was asking where we can get something to eat offered us pizza from the kitchen i think her name is Mercy, we owe her deep gratitude for caring

Very quiet !!!

The hotel was extremely clean and well kept.
BUT... it was miles from anywhere in the middle of a residential estate
It was 10 mins to beach which was a nice beach with a few bars and restaurants
30 mins to the bus station, a very boring walk and some parts not suitable for anyone with a mobility scooter
25 mins to nearest shop
35 mins to harbour area
The food was very nice and a good selection considering the few people in this hotel. However it was always luke warm on the display. I asked for it to be checked an saw that the hot display was showing 45 degrees, food should be displayed at a minimum of 63 degrees. I explained that this was dangerous and was told that it was ok for Spain!!!! Bacteria multiplies at the same rate regardless of country.
The second time I told the waitress that the pasta was cold on the hot display she shouted at me in Spanish and kept pointing to the microwave
I advise all travelers to use the microwave to heat their food to the correct temperature
I would not consider staying there again

Stayed for 3 nights on the way from our holiday home to Alicante airport. Maria on recepion was welcoming and very helpful.
The girl who ran the cafe/bar was also very attentive. I'm sorry, I didn't get her name.
The whole hotel was extremely clean. I would definitely stay again.

Lovely hotel, bit on the old fashioned style but perfectly clean and tidy, lovely big bedrooms and bathrooms, just missing a mirror in the bedroom to sit and do hair and make-up, bit noisy in the balcony due to main road noise at one side of the hotel! Unfortunately although the food was ok it was all served on the colder side of cool, need to micro all food if you like it hot and it dosent vary very much but very tasty and edible. Please be aware that there is nothing much to too out and about the hotel as its very much on the outskirts of town and a good 20 mins walk to bars restaurants ect

The staff were great, I used the gym which was in the quiet and suited me. The hotel is just of the main N332 very convenient for getting around if you had a car. 30 minutes walk to the Harbour. I would stay again.

Great Hotel but Cold bacon and eggs

The hotel has great staff and it’s a very well run hotel. The rooms are comfortable and very clean . I would say my only criticism would be the breakfast eggs and bacon and beans were all cold . The breakfast looks great and there is everything you could want .

Hotel looks better in the pictures, ok stray with ok food. Told to sit and wait for 5 minutes when tried to check in (only ones there), after about 5 minutes I got up and was told wait a little longer, he did say there was an issue with computer when we eventually got our key, would have been good to be told that on arrival rather than go and sit and wait. First time ever at check in have I been told to go and sit down and wait.

A small hotel, with a lovely team of people taking care of you. The food on the buffet was not very hot, but tasty nonetheless.
The pool area was clean and tidy, and the bar and terrace, while a little sparsely furnished, were comfortable.
The town was a twenty minute walk away, with a variety of restaurants and bars, but a very pleasant walk back, along the coast.

There was a pool table and table tennis in the bar area but we didn't use it. The pool area was very inviting but the weather wasn't hot enough to take a dip. The hotel is a 30-minute walk from town but the benefit is you can see the salt-plain with flamingo from the hotel room. The receptionist spoke really good English and the service at the hotel is excellent. We asked for some hot water to make tea and the receptionist gave us a kettle to use in the room instead! Such good understanding of English culture and tea-drinking habit! :) Good selection of hot/cold breakfast too! There is an underground garage that you can park in for a fee.

This is a simple hotel, but which delivers on all fronts. Excellent friendly and helpful staff. Very nice rooms with comfy beds, and an excellent bathroom. Fridge and safe in the room Too. Dinner was simple, but very flavoursome and plentiful. 16 euros for 3 courses with bread, water and coffee as well. Very nice house wine at 2.50€ per glass. Secure garage parking available for 6€.An easy 15 minute walk to the wonderful beach. 15 minutes drive to Alicante Airport. The perfect stopover.

Friendly staff, has secure parking. . A little bit out of town but an easy walk also a bus goes right to the door if needed. Bicycles for hire from hotel.
Excellent choice of breakfast. Fruit, meat , cheese also eggs , bacon, beans etc.
A microwave to heat if you require.
View from terrace from bar / lounge over salt lakes is beautiful.

A hotel a little isolated. Good for the local beach area but not a lot open at night. The room was comfy with great facilities. Breakfast was excellent. The restaurant at night was uninspiring with little atmosphere at all. Bar area was better. We felt that a few pictures, screens, better lighting would make the place more pleasant. Friendly staff, and a kettle to borrow, a bonus.

we come here 3 times a year as its a great location ,good bus service and the beach is lovely.

The picnic breakfast was awful... a dried up cheese sandwich, an over ripe black banana and a bottle of juice...come on grand playa hotel!!!!! the breakfast in the restaurant was excellent...maybe you could have put in some pastries and a yogurt with a plastic spoon in there too? Crackers would have been an improvement on the dried up white bread, even a croissant with cheese would have been a lot better!
to think we had paid 7 euros for this in with our hotel rate!

The sunbeds around the pool and the breakfast are great improvements but alongside this is the feeling of no concern or friendliness which there was 4 years ago!

Nice Hotel, if you want a quiet place to stay, Santa Pola seems to be residential area, but if you like walking, 10 mins to the beach 20 mins into town, plenty of bars and places to eat, but tapas bars are the best, the area is mainly Spanish which we like, only six miles from the airport cost with tip 25Euros, all in all a nice holiday we went half board and although the food was good, not sure about the table service in the evening, a bit to formal for us.and very quiet.

Beach is a 10 minute walk but for non hotel meals need a car to drive to local restaurants. Buffet breakfast has excellent choices.
However hotel lifts appeared slow and long corridors echoed noise so not that quiet in your room.
Despite motorway close to back of hotel, no traffic noise heard in room.

Great hotel

This hotel is slightly out of the main town but this is more than made up for by the friendly staff and spotlessly clean rooms and general areas. Rooms are large with balcony with good shower.
Used both the bar and the restaurant and service and food and drink were good.3 course meal of the day with wine and bread 15 Euro.
Beach and a good range of drinking/eating places 150m. Marian and main town a little further but a flat walk which is well worth while.

Everything you could ask for

The hotel is in a quiet residential area but close enough for beach, bars, cafés and restaurants.
The area is flat so walking to town, bus station, port and shops is a leisurely stroll.
Everything about the hotel is very good, the food on offer at breakfast was excellent and the evening menu was terrific value. I would definitely stay here again.

I also thought the hotel was clean tidy and friendly the only downside was that it was a walk to the centre of santa pal therefore if you are wanting everything to be close by the hotel might not be for you. For us it was fine

A real Gem

Booked the Gran Playa for a short break in Santa Pola in March. Service from the staff was amazing from the first contact at reception. Hotel spotlessly clean. Bedroom was large clean and seemed freshly decorated with a great little balcony to enjoy the sun overlooking the pool. Beds were comfortable with excellent strength wifi in the room, free. Breakfast good selection, pizza bar snack good and evening meal great value with wine. A short stroll from a beach but a little distance, but walkable, to the marina. Will certainly revisit especially at the price we paid. Recommend a trip to Tarbarca Island which we booked at a discount via the hotel reception. Will probably try the bike rent next time !!

Unfortunately we were here during the worst storms for years! We hid out in the hotel with the TV. There is control to view films in their original language, which was very useful as the weather was so bad. The heating system worked excellently and were very cosy. Breakfast was plentiful and you only had to ask if anything had run out. The hotel was not full by any means. In better weather this is a greatt place . Large spotless bathroom and room. All areas very clean.Thankyou.
