The service wasn’t great. Very slow internet. Food not great and overpriced. Reported faulty fridge on day one and absolutely nothing was done about it. Broken phone system, had to go downstairs every time I needed reception or room service. They did not clean my room one day, run out of toilet tissue. I would not stay there again. This was not a 5star hotel experience.

Really loved this beautiful hotel! Title: Inconsistent Front Desk, Subpar Breakfast – Exceptional Service from Delphine

As a frequent guest of five-star hotels, I rarely leave reviews—whether positive or negative. However, I believe it is important to share my recent experience at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Istanbul – Piyalepasa, as it involved both areas of concern and commendable service.

Upon arrival just after midnight, I was unexpectedly asked to provide a 100 EUR deposit for the minibar, which was surprising given that minibar charges are typically settled at checkout based on actual usage. Additionally, I inquired about a room upgrade, and was quoted 110 EUR by the night shift staff. He invited me to view the room the following morning before making a decision. However, when I returned the next day, a different staff member quoted 250 EUR for the same upgrade. This significant discrepancy in pricing and lack of internal communication was both confusing and unprofessional.

Unfortunately, my overall experience with the front desk staff was not positive. Their attitude lacked warmth and hospitality, and at times they gave the impression that they were above assisting guests. This is not the level of service I would expect from a Hilton-branded property.

The breakfast offering also fell short of expectations. The hot buffet was extremely limited, with no availability of basic items such as fried eggs, and overall selection did not meet the standard of a five-star hotel. This is an area that requires cl

This hotel is in a great location, easy to catch the bus or call a taxi. Overall staff were helpful and eager to help, when we had some issues with dirty towels they helped and fixed the issue right away. Check in and check out were simple and room was quiet with good AC. Overall we liked staying here.

The lobby is great. The location is weird. In Room 401 the bathroom stinks. The reception and guest relation staff need training. When you have a problem, first they blame you. Then lie. When you are enraged, offer remedy, but it is so humiliating that you decline. Their motto towards guests is “we do not care”.

This property should not be listed as 5 star. If you have more than 2 people in a room they will still require everyday for you to go to the desk or call the desk to ask for another towel and another water. They are not courteous. Our friend’s room was even left completely open after the cleaning service was done. They don’t have a functioning restaurant and the Starbucks doesn’t open until 8:30AM. The linen and pillow was also not left in the room for the extra person (even though the reservation was for 3 people). There are no perks here. The mini fridge only had 1 water in it. When I asked the front desk for water they said they could give us 1 but not 3 (enough for one per person). Stay somewhere cheaper if you want bad service. The area directly behind the hotel is the hood so be careful if you walk out.

Negatives: 1- We had 3 rooms and even though we requested to be together they gave us rooms in different floors but we couldn’t get to each other’s rooms as the elevator works with the room key and only goes to the floor that your room is located. 2- The building’s layout is the way that all rooms overlooking the lobby/restaurant and it was so noisy when people were having breakfast. 3- taking a shower was very unpleasant because you would lose the water in the middle of taking shower so many times also there was no consistency in the water temperature. It was switching to freezing cold and extremely hot every 2 minutes. 4- they have free WiFi but it logs you out every 8 hours and you have to keep adding your name, room number & password. 5- there is a mosque next to the hotel with huge speakers and they had prayers 5 times a day but the most annoying was at 4:30 in the morning that woke us up every single day.
Positives: 1- super friendly and helpful staff. 2- breakfast buffet was awesome. 3- free shuttle to Taksim square.

I did not enjoy my stay at this hotel at all. My personal opinion for hotels is that they need to be top service, at the very minimum. If I am paying for a 5 star hotel, it should be 5 star. It is the first thing the tourist experiences in your country and it should be the nicest and most pleasant experience. It seems as though 5 star is now like a 3 star hotel? This hotel wasn’t even good enough to be a 2 star. The most uncomfortable, noisy, rude stay I have ever experienced. I swore I’d write a detailed review, and here I am. I do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel, so please read this review.

Let me begin by stating that it is NOT in Taksim. The hotel is far and on a busy main road, so you can forget about peaceful sleep. It’s in a bad neighbourhood, where no taxis even want to take you anywhere because of the traffic to get anywhere. The ‘Taksim Shuttle’ doesn’t drop you off anywhere near Taksim. My grandmother was with us, she can’t walk much and they told us this goes to Taksim.

We were three women staying in their average room, with 1 king bed and 1 sofa bed. The sofa bed was as hard as sleeping on the floor. The mattress was so thin.

Room service is NOT up to standard. The cleaning is not good. They do not clean the room properly. That sticker ‘your room has been cleaned and disinfected’ is a complete lie. I have plenty of photos showing layers of dust everywhere in the room.
I have a lot more to say….

Extremely poor service at this hotel.

I have never experienced a hotel which such poor and a negative attitude.

The answer was always NO to everything.

The AC didn’t work in the bedroom which resulted to a super hot Room in the evening having called repeatedly and making a complaint the Answer was no we cannot change your room til we fix it.

The shower fixings we’re broken which meant the shower head kept falling as water passed through it: when complaining about this we was told it was because you requested a room with a bath. Could they fix it? No: not til the next day.

The NON SMOKING room smelt of smoke. When this was mentioned they said NO this is not possible.

They overcharged me from the amount agreed with hotels.com by £50, Breakfast was added at 3 times the amount shown on the website, when questioned they said No we match OUR website price as rates change daily!

SEFER in particular was a arrogant man at reception,

the window in our room was broken, the first night we had to stay in that room noise was coming to the room from the street and it was cold because the window was not closed and they couldn't fix the problem that night, for next day they had to change our room this one the shower was broken which you should hold it otherwise the water was going to one of the sid, we didn't want to ask again to not change the room again, we had only 6 night we didn't want to spend it in changing room we decided to use Turkish bath more but we found out that there was an extra charge for Turkish bath and this charge never mentioned on the website, and always when we travel to turkey the Turkish bath is free for hotel guests, one time my husband forgets his room key and the key used for the lift too he was at spa area and asked one staff in spa reseption to open the lift but she didnt helped him to get to the room so he had to call our room so my son takes the key for him.

Lovely staff, friendly and welcoming. Beautiful interior however location of the hotel made it a little difficult to commute around istanbul. Additionally due to the hotel being on a busy road it was a little noisy at night.
Rooms were cleaned daily, providing clean bedding, towels, etc.. only problem was there were quite a few finger prints and small stains on the mirrors and drawer surfaces which was not cleaned properly.

I gave a favourable review of the same property in 2016. Unfortunately, my experience this time was not as good. A few of the problems I encountered include:
1- small leak coming from the bathroom sink.
2- TV remote did not work and had one button missing.
3- Wi-Fi room login did not work so I had to call front desk and was given the general password.
4- I placed some coins on desk including 1/2 euro coins mixed with Turkish liras. The euro’s have gone missing. I didn’t report this and considered it a tip, but this is an alarming behaviour.
5- Staff working on BF buffet did not seem to understand English and their some minor misunderstanding when asking them for food items.

The good things about the hotel was the shattle bus from the hotel to Taksim, the bed was comfortable however the pillows were not comfortable, it was quite, however the services was not good, I needed water bottles and I had to call them three times yet they did not bring it, probably they don't have enough people in the reception area. Also, the fridge was not working, I could not logon to the wifi network in the first day because they have a diffrent sirname for me recorded in their system so I could not logon to the network, they have mixed up the names of the rooms.

However, the staff lacks any customer service skills. Even though they claims housekeeping services is daily .. we went up to three days of no cleaning and ran out of towels.

Even after bringing it to management daily, rooms didn’t get cleaned next day and their solution was to sit in lobby for 3 hours and wait for rooms to be cleaned ( around 5pm). No one wants to gone back after long day to spend hours in lobby for a room to be cleaned and to get towels to shower.

Also, the dry cleaning list is only provided in Turkish , in a hotel marketed for travelers who mostly don’t speak Turkish.

Room service sucks. Stayed a total of 7 days and
Every day we have to request water and coffee packets to be sent to the room even though room service would be in the room earlier in the day to clean it.

Also floor was never vacuumed ( nasty) and sheets are never changed ( they smell musty).

And to add to this amazing stay, a bag was taken out of our room the second day we checked in ( the bag had garlic in it) the issue was resolved a week later when they called to let me know that it was ‘ found ‘ in the ‘ lost and found ‘ , how was it taken from our room and turn up on the lost and found, with it being tampered and taken from.

To sum up: - things went missing from our room
- room service sucks
- could be cleaner for a HILTON.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE

Double Tree by Hilton is advertised as a 5 star hotel. From the outside this may seem so but upon closer inspection the reality is more 3.5-4 stars. I’ll start with the positives. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and attentive, I couldn’t fault them.

The hotel itself is structurally sound-proof inept. You will hear everything in the hall way from the room. The hotel is situated next to a mosque. You will hear pray as clear as day from 5ish AM each morning. It is very disruptive to sleep even with ear phones.

The food also in my opinion is not reflective of a 5 star. Over priced really.

Location isn’t ideal, due to next to mosque and away from the main attractions. There is a shuttle bus however.

In conclusion, the price for the hotel is not worth it - unless your able to get a heavy discount.

SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSE WHERE.

There are better options for the price point.

The hotel didn’t let us stay as there were maintenance work going on. Rather than offering a refund or at least a partial refund they told us to transfer to another hotel for a couple days till they fix the problem. They didn’t end up fixing the problem and I had to pay four doubletree price when the hotel I was given not even up to half the standards. Will never be coming here again. Absolutely no concern for customers

Hotel was good, the only issue was a food poisoning at the restaurant on the 7th floor on my last night...10 minutes after eating there (pasta with mushrooms and cream sauce, salad with goat cheese,walnuts and orange,and a sprite)I spent the night in and out of the restroom for sever diarrhea! I called reception to inform...the next morning, they offered me credit for the beverage (can of sprite!), I said that I don’t need this “credit “!
After a long flight to New York the next day, I am still having stomach issues.
Just a recommendation to avoid this restaurant!!

Mr. Eren is the most professional, hardworking, and sincere bell-boy I have ever met. Miss Valida is the best and most professional and supportive concierge clerk who has ever greeted me during my recurrent stays in a Hilton branch. Urhan Bey is the most cooperative hotel manager I have ever encountered.

This hotel is right next on main road and noise level is too much. I did request a room change and staff refused. So, i wont recommend this to anyone.
