Beware of cancellation at the Sasebo Washington

Beware! My two sons became ill probably due to eating bad sushi. They flew back home 3 days prior to stay in Sasebo. I cancelled their rooms 2-3 days before our stay at the Sasebo Washington Hotel. I was refused credit.

the bathroom was hazardous with a big crack between the wall and the bath collecting water. While showering I was fearful of falling through the floor because the bath moved when I stepped in to shower. They also refused to honor the booked rate on check in and wouldn’t provide a reason.

1975 this was an amazing hotel. Unfortunately it is 2024. Staff, fantastic, friendly and extremely helpful. Hotel is in need of major upgrades, stsrting with the carpet cleaning and A/C. Location, exceptional, clse to the train and byss terminal. Nearby foid scene, excellent.

The room was clean and pleasant. I could not believe that u get charged 1k yen for watching a movie. Never seen that before. You also get charged for paking , 1k yen. Wished staff spoke english. Difficult to communicate.

If your over 6' expect tp be a little cramped. The bathroom is really small, but the water pressure in the shower is amazing. I do wish the hot water had gotten just a tad hotter for a really good relaxation. The staff was extremely pleasant and the hotel was easy to find.

Bed was kind of hard and the pillows...bathroom very small and unfortunately I had to get a smoking room and the smell was very overwhelming. No refunds here so if you book and intend to check out early they will not refund you. The area is okay lots to eat but it's not a lot to see in Sasebo catch the bus to other places to explore.

Overall the stay was present. The hotel is conveniently located in relative close proximity to Sasebo base and some restaurants. About a 30 minute walk to main gate. The hotel does provide soap and shampoo but no wash cloth.

A good place to stay for a few days if you are driving. The local area has many restaurants and nightlife within a 10 minute walk. The bus station is even closer if you are planning to see Nagasaki or Fukuoka.

Meh; It's clean and there really is nothing to say about the area. Of course it's safe, it's Japan, the room was small. I originally booked a larger room; when the hotel staff recognized I was traveling alone, they decided a single occupant did not require a bigger room and insisted I take the tiny room with the single bed.

Breakfast was okay, since there really is nothing else around to get breakfast, there was no other choice. There was no choice to get a non-smoking room, you just had to hope they would give you one. The best part about the hotel is that it was walking distance to the train station. A huge draw-back was upon check out, the hotel refused to give me a receipt b/c I booked through hotels.com. A big problem when traveling on a per-diem assignment and I don't have a $0.00 receipt to submit with my travel claim.

I'd recommend the Quintessa (formerly the Chisun Hotel) a little further away. It's more to Western Standards for size and service. Staff speaks English more readily; NO ONE at the Sasebo Washington Hotel spoke English enough to be helpful. Don't misplace your room key, they'll charge you $10 to issue a replacement.

Typical Japanese hotel - very small. The desk chair rests against the bed when using. Only enough room to hang 5 articles of clothing. More than 2 pairs of shoes needed to be stored in the door entrance. Felt very cramped. Furniture was very old and somewhat worn. Desk staff and housekeeping were wonderful. Very clean. Most likely will not stay here again just because of the small room size.

Tiny hotel

If you are not use to small or being cramped in a small space then this is not the place for you. We had two adults and one child and the experience was horrible, tiny beds that were hard and uncomfortable, bathroom tub, you couldn't take a shower without hitting your hands on the ceiling, so if you're really tall then this wouldn't work either. The toilet was nice because of the heated seats! We only stayed one night because we couldn't bear to stay another night!

I stayed here when visiting my son who is stationed at the Sasebo Naval Base. It is a short walk to restaurants, shopping, bus station and the base. The room is small when compared to what we are used to in the U.S., but it is sufficient as a place to rest your head at night. The staff is very nice and the language barrier is minimal. I would stay here again if I had the opportunity to come visit my son again.

Small room but perfect for a solo night's sleep. Was clean, comfy, and had all amenities you need. Breakfast was enjoyable if you don't mind Japanese style - they do have western breakfast items but probably not up to most American's preferences. Overall very nice Hotel located right near the Bus station and across the street from the rail station. 20 minute walk to the Navy Base, 10minuts to the mall and sushi-go-round.

Great location for train and bus connections which we used to go for a day trip to Hirado. And easy to walk to the waterfront, supermarket, bakery, convenience stores.
Down side was that beds were not very comfortable . Small bathroom for tall people. Not as good value for price as at other hotels on our trip

Very close and convenient to the train station, the bus terminal, the mall and shopping arcade. Room is quite small but perfect for what I needed, which is a clean, nice place to sleep. The service is beyond excellent. I noticed as they see you enter, they will call the elevator for you, which, if timed correctly, will allow you to walk straight into the elevator without breaking stride!

OK hotel, but nothing special.

The hotel is clean and staff is polite, but DO NOT compare it to anything you would be used to in the United States or any other western \"nice\" hotel. If you're used to Belagio in Las Vegas, this would be more like Circus Circus. Room is very small, bed is quite hard, air conditioning is lackluster, desk is tiny and cramped, and internet connection is shoddy. Staff doesn't speak much English, but I don't hold that against them.
