Very clean room. All amenities available. Nice coffee bags. Comfortable bed. Good shower large rooms.

A little dated and don’t like shower curtains. Room is so big the bed doesn’t need to be against the wall.

At check-in, the staff gave us breakfast tickets. They called the room while we were getting dressed, so we had to run to the lobby in a hurry. It turns out that the staff gave us the breakfast tickets by mistake. Also there were stains on the chairs in the room. Other than that, the stay was fine.

I had to be moved to a different room sit the uncleanliness of the first room. The second room was no better which has already been reported to Hotels.com including pictures of the issues. I believe there was even mold on the curtains in the second room.

Sasebo Stay

The Quintessa Hotel offered so much to assist us with our stay in Sasebo. The front desk made reservations with taxi services for what we needed. The daily breakfast was a huge spread with a variety of foods to start the day. Laundry machines kept our clothes fresh. Eco friendly procedures with offering a change of towels and taking trash daily was all we needed. Spacious rooms had two large chairs as well as a desk. Numerous restaurants within walking distance offered a variety of options. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Parking is in a carpark 1 block away.
Quiet safe area. Large shopping arcade 3 blocks away.
Friendly staff with minimal English... but no probs.
We didn't try the hotel restaurant, there were plenty of other eaterieswithin a 10-15min walk

I was very disappointed with this hotel. There was a middle-aged man at the front desk wearing glasses, who seemed to be the manager, and his attitude was extremely rude and unprofessional. He was difficult to communicate with and clearly had a bad temper. I’ve traveled to Japan many times, and this is the first time I’ve encountered such poor service.

I booked a room for two adults and one child, but they only prepared the room for two people and firmly refused to provide any basic amenities for the child. They clearly do not treat children as guests. If you’re traveling with kids, I strongly advise against choosing this hotel.

The room was also very old and outdated, nothing like the photos. The only positive thing about this place is its convenient location, but that alone does not make up for the terrible overall experience.

As always, my stay here was amazing, the staff were friendly and respectful of the do not disturb magnet, the ac unit was on point, the wifi was fast, and the 7/11 up the street in the Genza pulled it all together. Also, apparently you can ask the front desk for an adapter for your computer charger if it has 3 prongs like in the states instead of the 2 that’s normal here. Love that.

Room was super spacious (rare for Japan) and the staff were super accommodating and friendly. Only knock was that is smelled like it had once been a smoking room long ago... that smell that lingers in walls and carpets was still faintly there.

Property was OK. Three issues for me, smelled of smoke, only feather pillows were available, and the refrigerator did not work at all. We used ice to power the fridge. I talked to a few other guests at the ice machine and it wasn't only our room.

Great place for Americans to stay

Good service and very helpful with other Japanese services (local shops, restaurants and taxi services). The only semi-negative comment, the hotel needs a facelift. Equipment is old and carpets look well used. Overall, I would recommend this for Americans to stay.

The carpet and sofa were badly stained, needed to wear slippers in the very small room. Because of the military base close by the surrounding area at night was rowdy, loud, and felt unsafe.

Location is great. I have stay there a lot of times, and I had always said the beds and pillows was very comfortable, but this last time the bed was very hard same with the pillows, like sleeping on cement, so why did you change? I had the same experience at the Quintessa hotel in Fukuoka, and I will never stay there again.

Do Not Stay At This Hotel

Parking was supposed to be free, but the onsite parking was unable to be used. I was told of site parking was close by and still free. This was not true and I ended up paying for the overnight parking.

Also, the room was not clean. There was hair in the sink, the bed and in the bathtub.

Great location!

My room included buffet breakfasts with the rate. Great A/C and strong water pressure! Their check-in and check-out processes were very fast. I slept well with big and hard bed and soft pillows. My room has thick walls and windows, thus, I didn’t hear noises from other rooms or guests. Buffet breakfast was just right for Japanese guests. I felt safe and well with their health and safety prevented methods. The hotel is close to shopping mall, stores, restaurants, and supermarkets.

Good central location, although due to bad weather my visit was a strictly business this time.
I would have liked more personal amenities in the room, such as tea bags or instant coffee packs to go with the hot pot and paper cups that were available. Also, the bathroom had free toothbrushes and paste, but that was all. Other, less costly hotels offer free combs, brushes and razors.

Room needed a good vacuum. Would have breakfast elsewhere if we stayed again. The reception staff however were very helpfull. We booked 3 nights but stayed only 2 nights and cut our losses.
