We had a beachfront pool villa (number 44) for 5 nights, it was like paradise.
All the staff were amazing particularly Andy and Noe but Joe San, Foam, Ad Lin, Bank, Pla, Ziny and Chef Win absolutely excellent!
We will definitely return one day.
Breakfast was lovely, dinners were delicious and cocktails great, happy hour is most of the day.
There was something that we didn't like but it has nothing to do with the staff or hotel but other guests, please dont go to breakfast or dinner in just your swim wear, be respectful and considerate of others, unfortunately some people from other cultures are not, also be nice to the staff, they are so lovely and do all they can to assist.

We had a wonderful stay as two couples on a trip together at Kupu Kupu - everyone was so lovely and wanted to make sure we had everything we could possibly need. We felt so welcome and comfortable, our rooms were also beautiful. Everyone who worked there was amazing but in particular San and Andy were great. The breakfast was excellent. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Hotel ideal for couples

The location of the hotel is perfect, it’s in a quiet location but not too far to reach bars and restaurants. Our room was amazing it was huge with a bath in the centre and the bed made a statement with the drapes hanging over it. We had our own private pool which was lovely, however the decking by our pool was splintering in some areas which meant you had to make sure you wore footwear when walking on it. I felt some luxuries could be added to the room like body lotion and liquid soap by the sinks, especially as this is a l’occitane hotel. I had 2 spa treatments which were really reasonable and were exceptional.

The restaurant was lovely, the food was amazing both at breakfast and dinner with the most beautiful setting and views.

The staff were all lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. All in all we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful property, great \"luxury\" feel about it. The staff cannot do enough for you. The beachfront pool villa we stayed in was wonderful and offered the most stunning sunsets, its own plunge pool and a nice quiet piece of gorgeous sandy beach. Dining was a mixed affair but No Noe - the waiter who served us during our stay - was truly brilliant and made our visit extra special. He was definitly a credit to Kupu Kupu.

This place was truly the highlight of our trip to ko phangan. We visited on our honeymoon and the rooms could not be more beautiful. The service was impeccable and the reception staff were absolutely so gracious and upgraded our room to one that blew us away. A stunning hotel.

We loved: the pool area, the rooms, the service by Andy and Wayan - these guys went the extra mile and were super friendly! The room we had came with a plunge pool and direct access to the beach. We stayed for my 40th birthday and when we arrive the room was decorated with balloons and a birthday cake - nice touch.

What could have been better: the location is pretty limiting and when the weather is bad there isn’t really much to do. Some of the service was a little patchy at times, it felt like new people were being trained though.

Overall; a great hotel largely due to the stunning room and beach access. One of my 5 favourite hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

This is a beautiful resort. The staff are wonderful, helpful, and friendly. The room was beautiful and the facilities (other than the dodgy wi-fi) were great.
The only downfall for us was that the hotel presented itself as vegan friendly on the website (and we were asked regarding dietary requirements on arrival) but in practice the variety and quality of vegan food offered was basic, and other than great fruits and juices at breakfast, the meals were untempting and bland with unmarinated, soft tofu in most dishes, and no desserts other than fruit (we did check). This has certainly not been our experience in other hotels and resorts so was quite a disappointments.
Nevertheless we found many amazing places serving great vegan food in the vicinity so this did not impact our stay too badly. When we did eat at the hotel the waiting staff were never less than warm and lovely.
Overall, not our best experience of a resort or hotel in Thailand but still very good. The hotel does make a mistake in setting high expectations regarding its ability to provide for vegan guests.

Three nights in this hotel was one of the highlights of our 2.5 week thailand trip. Perfect, understated service - so relaxing and the most beautiful, peaceful hotel. Prices were not sky high, happy hour 241 cocktails 4-6pm, you could take back to your room. The place felt like a sanctuary and everyone seemed so chilled, even the staff. Well done Kupu Kupu

First things first, shortly after we were shown our room, we realized that the door to the villa (villa 29) did not even shut! There was a gaping large hole between the two sliding doors that shut such that bugs and hot air from outside could easily enter the villa. That being said, the room was full of flies and so hot that we could not sleep or even get dressed after our showers in our robes because we would be sweating profusely. Additionally, the air conditioning didn’t work at all. Not sure if this was the unit itself or the large hole in the door, but nonetheless, we barely slept because we were so hot. I mentioned these complaints at check out and they simply asked for my card without offering any apology or offer to compensate. Surely, for a 5 star, expensive resort, one would expect more both with respect to the quality of the facilities and the service. Lastly, there is no beach seating or chairs on this resort. The beach is extremely isolated and the hotel doesn’t make an effort to put chairs out for guests to enjoy the small beach that there is. Such a shame, given the beautiful location of this resort and therefore the potential it could have. Will not be returning.

Very comfortable stay, loved the area, Amsterdam bar opposite the road for sunset is a must. The view from the beach villa is nothing that I have seen before, I have never stayed so close to the sea before. Food is authentic but too expensive. Would recommend renting a bike and exploring the island. The hotel staff and very friendly and seem happy to work there which is important.

A quiet and romantic getaway

This place was a real treat! The hotel and staff are lovely. It is super quiet and the rooms are incredibly big and clean. The balinese style was also very pleasant.
The sea and beach weren't very clean unfortunately so if you are after the beach lifestyle this is probably not the best location.
However there is a lovely pool in the garden and the private pools are also great!
I would overall definitely recommend this place. A very romantic escape.

This place is AMAZING! The pictures don’t do it justice. They have amazing workers, every single person we passed within the resort was very friendly and accommodating. They make sure you feel welcome. It’s so spread out and in a very quiet area. The rooftop bar has fire dancers occasionally for some entertainment.
The only downside is be prepared to spend a pretty penny getting to and from the main town site where everything is. Compared to city taxi meter prices, it’s much much more expensive.

A gorgeous resort in Koh Phangan

We stayed at Kupu Kupu for 2 nights while travelling across Thailand on our honeymoon. This resort was one of our favorites. We booked a deluxe beachfront pool villa and the hotel set it up with some really cute honeymoon themed amenities for our arrival. The view was one of the true highlights of this room. It faces west so the sun would go down in front of our bedroom and pool each evening, for a breathtaking sunset you could almost reach out and touch. The hotel breakfasts were great and were included in the price of the room, along with complimentary pickup to/from Thong Sala pier. Would highly recommend this resort for anyone staying in Koh Phangan for a special occasion or if you just want to stay somewhere beautiful.

We rented a beach front villa with private pool and enjoyed every moment of our stay. The resort is wonderful, the staff is very friendly, and we would stay again!

The only suggestions we have would be to become more cost competitive with the island. Food was far more expensive on the resort than down the street, and the happy hour menu could be more diverse. Happy hour was beer from 5-7, wine from 7-9, and cocktails from 10-12.

We booked this hotel very last minute and cannot rate it enough. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the staff were all so friendly. We were surprised with a free upgrade which made our stay truly memorable.

A beautifully designed and located hotel. The most relaxing holiday.
A few comments :
1. The drinks,food menu and spa are outrageously over priced.
2. Beach beds on the beach would be great.
3. A wider range of mini L'Occitain products in the room to make it a L'Occitain experience and not just the standard shower gel/ shampoo and conditioner.
4. A hotel shuttle service into town.

Beautiful resort, very nice staff, great location very close to the pier. Only complaint is this is advertised as a resort which is a misrepresentation. We tried to book a massage in advance but no one responded to our inquiry. When we arrived we asked again and were told to relax and enjoy our first day and call tomorrow to book it. When we called there was no availability for that day and only one slot for the next day. We expressed our frustration and the staff responded gracefully with a complimentary gift card for the massage. Again, when we called to schedule (fully planning on paying for the massage since this was a nice gesture but unnecessary) again we were told there was only 1 time slot available. While we appreciate the offer, it was an empty gesture. We decided to check for any cancelations on our last day and found there was no availability but multiple empty beds in the spa. we can only assume they were understaffed, which caused the limited availability. Everything else about the resort was amazing, we loved our villa on the beach and our gorgeous view. We were pleasantly surprised to learn the reservation included a comprehensive breakfast buffet as well. Would absolutely recommend this place, great value with the conversion to US dollars.

This place was an oasis (far removed from the busy Haad Rin beach) which is just want we were looking for. We had a villa with a private pool and beach view where we could relax and take in all the beauty before heading to the full moon party. We definitely made the right decision in choosing to relax to gear up for party and Kupu Kupu was just the place to do that. We got massages at their spa-- it was one the best massages both myself and my husband had ever gotten.

We did have a leak in our tub but the hotel did the right thing and refunded our spa purchase. Beautiful hotel. Private. Perfect for couples.

This Hotel does not look like the Hotels.com listing the phe Hotel is run down and the upgraded pool villa was dirty and not kept clean. The Staff was not friendly and and not professional they lost my passport. As a frequent traveler and a Silver Member at Hotels.com I would stay away from this resort you will not be happy. It was my \"Birthday Holiday' staff not nice.

A Great Trip

It was simply terrific. We went there with the desire to fully relax and were able to do so. We upgraded to a villa on the beach, which was a very good decision, given the view and sense of seclusion. We really enjoyed the villa's plunge pool, the restaurant and the spa.

Would really recommend if you are going to koh Phangan. We actually got engaged here on the first day and everything g was absolutely brilliant. The pool, private pools, views, food and spa are all fantastic. The honeymoon special is also well worth the money.

Only comments are that the ac is not great for the room and you can't leave it on when you are out.

Best Hotel of Our 2 week trip to Thailand

Kupu Kupa the best hotel we stayed at on our vacation!
My wife & I booked a Pool Villa room here at Kupu Kupu. Room #25 @ this resort & it may have been the best room on the resort for 2 people.. When I think of Paradise I will think back to this hotel room.
The room was high on the hill with a deck & stunning view of palm trees, main pool & the ocean. The main pool & the beach by the Ocean were top notch as well. The rocks in the ocean made for some amazing pictures. The restaurant food & the bar staff were great as well. Ask for O she makes a great caipirinha!
You can rent Motor bikes for 250 THB from the hotel which is a must & great way to get around.
It is about a 7 Minute cab ride from Thong Sala Pier & far away from the party crowd.
We stayed 2 nights here before we had to come home, but I wish we would of skipped Koh Toa & stayed here & explored a little longer.
Paradise!! ***A MUST STAY***

Be prepared to see some bugs or spiders in the rooms because there are some cracks in between the doors for them to get in.. All of the beds have mosquito netting so no worries on them getting to you @ night.. =)
You will encounter this anywhere on the island

We loved the Kupu Kupu Villas! We splurged and got a private pool villa with a panoramic view and it was such a treat! Still reasonably priced considering what you got for the money. Breakfast was included and was refreshing to have an a la carte menu instead of the traditional buffet breakfast, the breakfast was great. Beautiful resort with a real intimate feel and a great view.

amazing place BUT the hotel is not more then 3star

the hotel located in the most amazing view i ever seen ,awesome!! BUT we payed 300$ for the beach pool villa, the interior looks very old and bad maintains , very old and noise air condition, the switch of the lights and the AC are painted by hands! , key to the room like the 80s ,low speed internet ,the lobby is not a place you want to stay more then 3 min, overall we had nice time and according to this island the hotel is ok but do not expect for something special

Absolutely Gorgeous

We absolutely loved this hotel! Gorgeous grounds, beautiful villa, amazing staff, delicious food at the restaurant. Unfortunately, I heard from some local expats that the hotel has high turnover because the staff isn't treated very well, which was incredibly disappointing. I hope the hotel changes that because everything else was perfect.

Good in general. Nice view

Nothing to do in the hotel surroundings, so you have to rely on the hotel's restaurant which is relatively expensive. The beach looks nice from the hotel but not really comfortable for swimming. The pool is very small

Great romantic view, the hotel is isolated from everything so you need to get a taxi to thong sala if you want to get out of it. The first room we got had air conditioning problems so they upgrades us to a better room where everything worked just fine. Friendly hotel staff

Very beautiful boutique hotel

Breath taking view of the beach and palms, located on beautiful beach, the hotel management is French with French chef so dinning was extremely good, in both Thai and French dishes.
the pool is excellent, on the low side you need to have a motor bike or taxi ( 200 Bhat)
and the sea is very shallow , but will certainly come back.

Really nice hotel with roomy villas. Great view of the beach from our balcony. Excellent service with room service and in the restaurant. Only stayed a couple of nights for the full moon party but I would recommend and go back

Great hotel! Amazing views!

We arrived at the hotel a few hours before our check-in time, but the staff were still very welcoming. We received a welcoming drink and refresher towel on arrival and informed that they will get our room ready for us in a few minutes (this was done, brilliant service).

We discussed a few of the things to do and see on the island, with the staff, who were all very friendly (the booking manager was there at the time of our arrival).

We were very lucky and our room had been upgraded to a pool view villa, which was excellent!

The hotel is mostly for couples. We were travelling as friends, but still found it very comfortable.

Will definitely recommend this hotel!!

Went for Honeymoon. Room was lovely,plunge pool fantastic but there were a few issues. Rooms had few windows and were very dark and dimly lit. Only option was to keep curtains open, but that meant whole resort could see us get changed. Staff very kind and friendly but sometimes overly so if that's possible - was one morning asked 5 times by 3 different staff members if our breakfast was ok. It's clearly a brand new hotel and will be amazing in time, just needs to iron out a few kinks with service and grow some plants for privacy in the villas. Would recommend.
