- we were not informed that the apartment had limited aircon. Loungeroom aircon and main bedroom aircons could not be used at the same time. Two of the three bedrooms do not have aircon, with 3 children this was a nightmare with the heat and humidity
- there were dead and live cockroaches, a cockroach egg sack in one of the single beds (photo proof)
- the tiled surfaced in the kitchen area was greasy and slippery
- dishes plates cups knives etc were not cleaned properly (we had to wash before use, some had excessive dust and hair on them, some were also wet)
- the ensuite toilet had faecal remains in it
- the floor in the toilet of main bathroom was sticky, so disgusting
- the main bathroom shower was not clean and has mould (photo proof)
- the fridge was not cold on arrival
- no blackout blinds in the living area to early reduce the morning light/heat
- surfaces were not cleaned properly or regularly. Food and water residue on dining table legs. Dust build up on bar chair legs, bedside tables and carpet
- carpets not vacuumed properly. Infant crawler found multiple items to put in his mouth
- fly screens doors are not secure. Unable to be locked and the screen itself was loose/holes etc. not safe for children
- Apartment 23 is NOT a 4 star apartment!
- the booking was made for 4 adults and 3 children; only the main bedroom had a double bed; the other bedrooms were made up as 4 singles. What 4 star rated resort would expect adults to sleep in single beds (unless requested)

Our recent stay at Surfside on the Beach was disappointing. Despite booking a top-floor three-bedroom room with promised ocean views, the reality was vastly different. The room lacked the advertised views, and its condition was subpar. Old, stained curtains, dirty floors, and musty bathrooms greeted us.

Bedding configurations didn't match what was promised, despite confirmation. Props to Ebony for helping with an extra bed, but it didn't salvage the experience. The sole air conditioning unit in the lounge was inadequate, making west-facing rooms unbearably hot on warm days.

On the upside, the grounds were well-maintained, offering a pleasant alternative to missing ocean views. Underground parking was convenient, though the lack of elevators made hauling luggage up multiple floors unexpected.

Overall, our stay fell short. Despite commendable staff efforts, the disparity between promised amenities and reality was disappointing. With hopes for a fulfilling stay dashed, we left unsatisfied. We will not return to this hotel. Expedia also need to ask the property to update the photos and descriptions on the Expedia website, as this is NOT what the property looks like inside anymore

This property’s aircon was not working in the bedroom and the ceiling fan wasn’t working properly either. Conditions were stifling. The unit had not been cleaned very well with a thick layer of dust on the tv unit in the bedroom and the floor! The TV screen in the bedroom was damaged. There was a loaf of mouldy bread in the pantry. The frying pans looked disgusting as was the cupboard where they were stored.

The office was closed on the public holiday so we had to endure the stifling conditions in the bedroom or sleep on the couches in the lounge. We reported everything to the front office on the Sat morning and received a call from the on-site manager. It was easy to tell he wasn’t happy. We were told the aircon was to be fixed that coming week. So they had rented the unit knowing the aircon wasn’t working. The manager attended the apartment while we were out. He cleaned the three pans and put a pedestal fan into the unit. This was so disappointing. The washing machine was absolutely filthy. We don’t go on holiday to start cleaning up after other people. There was no further communication with the manager either. No offer of compensation. The standards of Surfside on The Beach have slipped dramatically.

The apartment complex was very nice and in a great location. The apartment itself was average to be fair. It needs maintenance and thorough cleaning, one of the couches was not usable and the wifi didn’t work in any of the bedrooms and barely worked in the lounge by modern standards.

The location was perfect. Direct beach access was incredible. The view from the balcony and sound of the waves at night I loved. One of the pools was heated which the kids loved as we stayed in winter. The unit we stayed in was spacious, 3bdrm. Had books and games for kids. Kitchen was well equipped. Tiles in all areas inside apartment were hard on feet though. Cockroach bait traps were left throughout which was a hazard for my toddler and I also had a big live cockroach on the bench surprise me one night. Glass Sliding door to balcony had no safety sticker and one of my kids walked into it thinking door was open and got hurt. Washer dryer combo machine took a very long time to dry clothes.We had a power cut while we stayed for 4 hours which wasn’t great. Designated parking spot for each unit underground but the spaces and area underneath is so small so I couldn’t park down there with my imax despite it being under the height restriction, definitely for small cars only. There is some street parking though which we used. Lady at front office was lovely. You Have to use a key to open every single door/ use lift etc. means everything is super safe but it was a pain with kids and the key gets stuck in the locks. Trying to hold a kids hand and turn the key and the door handle at the same time was difficult. I’d probably stay again purely for the location and the lovely staff, but the interior could definitely do with being updated/refreshed a bit.

Property was absolutely disgusting. Stains on white bed sheets, air conditioner unable to be used as it hasn’t been cleaned in a very long time. Fans and walls in bedrooms were covered in thick dust. All cooking utensils were dirty. Food left in freezer. Nice unit, however needs a very good clean.

Pleasant, peaceful & relaxing.

We stayed for 5 nights & the apartment was well appointed with everything we needed. It was spacious, airy & a relaxing atmosphere. I enjoyed morning swims at the nearest of the 3 pools. The temp was comfortably cool to do some short laps. The bed was a little firm but ok. Having an overhead fan really helped during the humid nights. We enjoy SBS TV series so needed the wifi connection which worked most of the time. The apartment was 2 bedroom averaging about $200p night so basically value for money. The key system was frustrating at times being required for the lift & entering/exiting the parking garage. made the mistake of trying to enter the central building & not the northern one as it was night & the entrances look similar. Some signage on the garage & the main apartment doors might help avoid this. we were not the 1st to end up trying to \"break into\" the wrong area. If you go to the top deck of your apartment you get some sea views. All in all it was a relaxing time& peaceful location to take a break. Sonia & Rob were friendly & helpful managers.

The property is perfect located and has all the amenities required. Near to everything. Unfortunately, the apartment was really outdated with very unconfutable beds and poor bed configuration. It was lacking maintenance and cleanness. The apartment was not fully airconditioned. The whole S6 apartment needs to be updated and a good throughout cleaning.

The property is very dirty and does not have the lift without notice so you have to carry all heavy luggages and as the property is located on top, very hot so not easy to sleep. Not recommend it at all. The manager is not easy to communicate and not interested in guests circumstance.

Booked 2 apartments, only was 1 made available to us. When questioned the blamed Expedia. Their communication was very blunt on all matters.
The 1 apartment that we did manage to get was dirty, the microwave did not work and the wifi was patchy at best. When we spoke to the manager or other staff about the issues they told us there was nothing that could be done except to email them with the issues. Would not stay there again.

The location was quiet and away from the hustle and bustle associated with other more congested areas of the coast. The proximity to Kawana Waters shopping was fantastic, and Mooloolaba was only a short trip by car.
Really surprised there was no Wi-Fi connectivity options available. A smart TV was in the room however no ability to utilise simple features such as Netflix. Our room had an amazing upstairs area with one island table and no other facilities - such a waste for such an amazing space.

Only 2 things that didn't work: the wi-fi, I thought kids would go nuts without internet but they managed. The 2 back rooms were stifling. Perhaps even placing a small fan in each would help?

- our unit needed a good thorough clean, the couches, cushions and our bedspread needed
a decent wash. And the floor needed a really good mop.
- the ‘free’ internet usage was extremely ungenerous.

The place needs a really good clean. My 9 month old is crawling and his clothes were filthy within hour of being in the property. We found toe nail cliping, broken glass and hair on the rug in the living room. The bath wasnt clean it had black marks and dust everywhere. While the apartment is a little oudated, its quite large and comfortable for 3 adults and a baby. I wouldnt stay here again

Absolutely loved this place. A pool for each block of units, meant we were not crowded. 2 mins to the beach. The rooms were well appointed, clean and comfortable. The apartments are a good size and the kitchen fully equipped. Very secure and quiet. Downside is the parking. one carpark per unit meant we were parking in the street. But overall would definitely go back. Close to shops so it was easy getting suppliers.

apartments are great spot one of the few places on the sunshine coast you don't have to cross the road to the beach direct access and very quite area of the sunshine coast so nice getaway, very large and rooftop was the best benefit large entertaining area with spa and views are great.. Negative the property is major need of refurbishment and cleanliness it needs a full deep clean and all blankets need and bedspreads should be thrown out I did the leave the kitchen cleaner than I found it dirty dishes and cupboards in them

The single beds in one of the bedrooms had ants in them as well as the kitchen. The condition of the unit was poor, paint was peeling off the windows and walls and mould was in the showers, the overall cleanliness of the unit was poor. The unit looked tired and needed updating. I won't be staying there again.

Wasn’t overly impressed. The staff were lovely but the room was in need of attention. Dusty furniture and under the couch cushions was filthy, didn’t realise until we were leaving and checking for things left behind. Aircon in living room was fantastic but none in bedrooms, only ceiling fans that barely worked and squeaked all night on the highest settings. We booked pretty late so maybe got the worst room? In saying that, apartment was very spacious which was good. Probably about 5 minute walk to the patrolled beach, premises has its own beach access but you are advised not to swim there as not patrolled. Was ok but wouldn’t revisit.

The apartment was great, large and spacious, excellent location, in walking distance of the main shopping center. Reception staff were very friendly.

In terms of cons, the decor is a little bit dated, there are some minor maintenance concerns on some of the window sills (flaking paint) and the lift system was very slow.

We were happy to overlook the minor problems as the price was great value for money.

We stayed here recently with our 4 children 6 and under. Contact with staff prior and during our stay was all very positive, the location is fantastic with the beach right outside, playgrounds not too far away, and everything you need a short drive away. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We would definitely stay again.

Undercover car park was pathetic. Impossible to fit for anything other than a small car. So we had to park way down the road in the heavy rain. And the fact we have to take all the rubbish with us and clean everything before leaving is the opposite of what a hotel is about. Would never go back there. We stay a lot in hotels and would never return here.

Great location, walking distance to the beach, walking distance to the local surf club and only 5 minutes drive to a large shopping center with everything you can possibly need! Pool was also great! Beds were super comfy and very large entertaining area! Only downfall was sticky floors and table when we arrived, needed a table cloth or something! Must be from some cleaning products, floor was clean but a bit sticky. The upstairs balcony was beautiful but needs a hard roof rather than shade cloth, when it rains the roof does drip water, we would've had dinner up here even with the rain it the roof was sheltered! Great view!

Unfortunately due to the cleanliness of our unit and the terrible heat in two of the bedrooms, our stay was very disappointing. The fridge had not been cleaned out from the last guests, food scraps and spilt food left in it. A used tissue behind a door, hair ball left on the carpet, not too sure if it had been vacuumed, yellow ring in the toilet bowl, screens were dirty and dirty cutlery in the drawers......
We couldn't sleep in 2 of the rooms as the heat was unbearable, despite having the aircon on. The wooden blinds didn't do a thing to keep the sun/heat out and the room stayed hot all night. 4 of us had to camp in the lounge room to keep cool. Block out curtains would probably be a good investment.
The location and the view were pretty awesome.

The position of the apartment was great. The decor inside was a bit tired but that didn't bother me at all. We had adults staying in a 3 bedroom apartment. One of the bedrooms was totally in adequate. I booked twin beds for both of the single rooms and one was a bunk bed. When I complained about this I was advised that nothing could be done about it
The most disappointing part of our stay was the lack of cleanliness. The bathrooms have black mould and the ensuite actually smelled.The outside furniture needed to be cleaned before you could use it. The window sills were thick with dirt and dust and the cutlery draw had food crumbs and sand in it.
If this is anything to go by it was disgraceful and I told them so.
I will not go back there.

Fantastic facilities, close to beach.

Our family had a wonderful experience. This hotel is a short walk to the beach, with great walking/riding paths close by. The hotel has 3 pools, 2 are heated. There was a small shopping centre with excellent food and coffee available. Point Cartright is a short drive or decent walk/ride away. All the attractions of Mooloolaba only 5-10min drive. Sunshine Plaza located in Maroochydore is only 10min drive. Excellent shopping and more food options.

Only problem was booked 3 bedroom rooftop as family attending wedding, had elderly mother who struggles with stairs and room didn't have elevator access as advertised on hotels.com also had 2 x double bed and 2 singles not 1 double & 4 x singles as advertised and required. This was however fixed quickly by lovely lady at reception.

Should look at improving air conditioning. Two bedrooms out of three had no air conditioning and were too hot to sleep in. All else was OK. Patrolled beach is 500m away. Perhaps they should review WiFi option offered as using cellular data was a cheaper option for me.

Great value for money!

My family of four just spent a week at Surfside on the Beach and we had a wonderful stay! The 2 bedroom apartment was very clean and spacious and had every amenity that we could possibly wish for. The complex has 3 pools and is situated right on the beach front. The location is great as you are very close to a large shopping centre and a patrolled surf beach.
