The staff was courteous and professional. My room was cleaned daily by the very sweet Paulina who didn't hesitate in accommodating me.However,there was one incident I experience in the cafe on 2/13 around 3 pm. The young lady served me, took it unpon her self to keep my 30 cedis. It was an incident that you don't know- what just happen. I like The Roots and I would stat again.

This is a very nice hotel quite niche.

Our Stay was Peaceful and Enjoyable #RootsHotel

This was our first of many trips to the beautiful paradise of Ghana and we couldn’t have asked for a better spot to chill out and R&R.

It is centrally located, on a quiet street in a bustling neighborhood with lots of eateries and markets. The property is safe, clean and everyone have been nothing but friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again. I would 💯 recommend if you are looking for a true local experience.

The management and reception are very bad, they do not help, the restaurant manager is rude and not polite. The hotel management needs to receive training in hotel management. I will definitely not stay again and do not recommend it to anyone.

I stayed a week in February and had an amazing time. The hotel staff were super attentive, gave excellent service. They were kind, courteous and went out of there way to make my stay a very pleasant one.
The hotel is located on a quiet side road off the busy Oxford street. Everything you need you can find on Oxford street.
There is no longer a jacuzzi but you have access to nice pool no more than a 60 second walk.
Breakfast was great, great selection of choices that changed daily. Rooftop bar was lovely, great service and drinks at a decent prices.
Special thanks to the management team, they really made my stay top tier.
I highly recommend staying here!

Unfortunately, I won't be able to stay at this hotel anymore. I’ve stayed 3 times and was pleased until the pass time. I left an item in the room when I checked out. I called hours after I checked out and 2 other days to ensure they had the item and i could pick it up before i left Ghana. After multiple calls and having 3 different people telling me they would call me back to confirm they have the item, I received no call. It's not professional to continue to tell a customer that you will call them back and don't. As well, everytime i called and got a new person, no one knew what i was talking about and had to explain all over again. Without getting confirmation they had the item I did not return to the hotel. Still no word from them.

I can't trust to stay at a hotel that will take your things if you leave it in a room and will not return calls when you do have an issue. I will take my business elsewhere.

Not bad but can be noisy at night-early morning

Our stay here was decent, the facilities are okay and the rooms are okay. I found it a tad bit noisy as it is located in the heart of the city and there are multiple nightclubs and restaurants beside it. The staff were also not as responsive as i'd have expected but overall, not a bad stay.

It's beautifully decorated, the staff is extremely helpful, and it's very well positioned for banks and restaurants. I've never been to Ghana before and it was a very comfortable way to figure out the lay of Accra. Also, a rooftop bar.

Rooms where what USA clients usually get in a hotel. Please know the exchange rate because unfortunately some people will try to cheat u of your money. It was our best second place to stay outside of the hotel. Last thing, power washing of the bathroom floor will make this better

Problems checking in. Was given an inferior room to the one I’d booked.
Some of the electrical points didn’t work. And the fittings in the bathroom kept falling off the wall. Couldn’t access the WiFi anywhere in the hotel other than in my room. The gym was incredibly airless and not all the machines worked. The service for food was so slow I forgot I’d ordered and refused the meal on the grounds it took so long. Even when I hung out the door sign asking for them to clean the room it was not always cleaned even though they obviously had cleaned the room opposite. Had to ask the desk to have my room cleaned. TV reception almost zero so don’t go there expecting to watch any. And most annoying for some one who is not a football fan is that in the public areas all you could see were football games. Actual tourist footage of Ghana would have been nice or even the local news. The roof terrace with jacuzzi was only available after 3pm. No use at all to anyone wanting to catch some morning sun. And yet again only football on the large screen.

We did not like our initial room on the 1st floor & we tried to leave to a different hotel, but the manager made it right !!! She made sure that we spent all of our time in Accra at the Roots Hotel by moving us into the spectacular Pent House Suite.

Worst place ever I lodged. Changed 3 rooms in 2 hours before sleeping after 10 pm. None of AC was working. Alternate hotel was provided after lots of argument. The other hotel was also too shabby and bathroom was too small even to stand.

Wonderful staff. Get the airport pickup/drop off.

I really enjoyed my stay and found the staff to be both warm and reliable.
My room was larger than expected and there was plenty of space to share with a colleague. We loved having a small kitchenette to help save on eating out.
I liked it so much I suggested that a young exchange student from my university stay there while in transit to university at Kumasi.

A very nice hotel. Staff were kind, friendly and very helpful. The room was always clean and very comfortable. In a great location as only a few minutes walk from Oxford Street with shops, bars and restaurants. I loved the new added addition of the roof terrace with bar and jacuzzis, just the right thing for a relaxing evening of drinks and chat!! I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Great place to call home!

The first night there we arrived at the hotel via ROOTS van. Alas they informed us they had no rooms. My booking was prepaid 6 months in advance and my fiancé had called roots the morning I was flying in to make sure all was ok but they never mentioned they wouldn't have a room. We were sent to Urbano around the corner and my experience there was not good. I'm disabled and they had no lift. We settled in as best we could and went to the restaurant down stairs. The waiter was attentive but the restaurant was full of mosquitoes and we were eaten alive!
The next day we checked out and went to Roots only to be told they didn't have a room ready for us. They wanted us to come back later. I was highly upset as we had a busy schedule and a lot of luggage. Finally we left our things at the front desk and returned around 1pm. They did upgrade our room for the inconvenience.
The room itself was clean and well maintained and our house keeping Paulina went above and beyond to satisfie any request! Thanks Paulina you were amazing!!
If it's your first time in Ghana I would recommend staying at ROOTS! They are close to Oxford street and have plenty of cabs down the road. Don't take a cab across the street as they charge you triple! There are plenty of options on Oxford street.
The Chinese restaurant next door was great but one night we ate in and got sick the next day! Take your food to go!
Over all I would stay again at ROOTS!

This was a great hotel. The first night had my wife and I a little shaky because we were in a room on the first floor and the ac unit was not working well, seems like just the fan was working and the first night was miserably hot and that particular room does not have great sunlight and it smelled damp like it had bad airflow, I would recommend they fix the ac and clear up the damp mildew smell. Fortunately for my wife and I we were moved to another room on the 5th floor which was extremely better. Great views, nice kitchen area and the ac worked wonderfully. I was very pleased with the service and hospitality by the staff, this was my first time staying in a hotel in Accra, I usually stay with family but since this was my wife's first time I wanted her to be comfortable and they made sure we were well taken care of. This is a great boutique hotel tucked in the most happening place in Accra, and it looks like they are still developing the area specifically for tourist and the local Ghanaians. Be aware since this place is touristy it is very busy and they have a bunch of sales stalls lined on oxford street and everyone and their mom is trying to sell something, its cool for the first few days but after a while can become exhausting telling everyone no lol. Other than that I would recommend this hotel if this is your first time in Accra, Ghana.

Friendly staff, though the elevator service is quite slow. on a few occasions elevator was packed with hotel staff with us (customers) having to wait for next free elevator. Perhaps, the staff should give priority to the customers. Breakfast is OK, with lunch and dinner menus being limited. Hotel is clean and well located. Good value for the money in Accra.

Stayed here for two nights and it was a comfortable stay. The hotel is great, breakfast is superb, especially since the focus is not eggs only, which is very common in other establishments. Location is great, just off Oxford street so ideal for walking around. The apartment was self-contained, not too big, and comfortable. The working desk wasn't ideal, but functional.

I was not given the room I paid for at first, even though I indicated I was checking in late. They gave the room to another and I had to wait for another room after a very long flight. Since the room was pre-paid I would have expected better service.

Best place I've stayed in Accra

A great hotel, in the heart of Osu area. Makes for a nice change for your typical style of hotel. The apartment style rooms are great for working out of and relaxing in. Very friendly, courteous and professional staff. Great WIFI - super fast and reliable (something that is hard to find even in the big hotels in Accra), and no power outages during my stay. 2 minute walk to Oxford street, with easy access to restaurants, bars, shopping centre, etc.

I booked a standard room. Based on the information on the Expedia website detailing the facilities in the room, I did not get what was advertised or what I paid for.

The room was overpriced and falsely advertised. No seating area, no kitchenette, no dishwear and poor wifi connection. Bed was low to the ground and just a foam mattress not very comfortable after multiple hours, especially when there was no where else to sit. Room was on ground floor behind reception and I could hear everything. Water pressure in shower was weak.

It was clean and modern though.

i was very impressed with Roots! I was worried as we got this hotel for a good price compared to others we looked at.
Hotel was modern and clean, staff were helpful although a bit slow at times which is to be expected.
Breakfast was mediocre- not traditional but not continental, was more of a merge of both which doesn't work unless you have lots to offer.

The area is good, around 30mins or less to the airport. And all other areas accessible by taxi which are very cheap.

Overall a brilliant hotel and good value for money!

My sister and I stayed at Roots Hotel Apartments for 4 days. The location was perfect and close to nightlife. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. We left Accra to tour Togo for a few days and planned to stay at another hotel upon our return. We checked into the other hotel and after a while decided to leave and go back to Roots Hotel Apartments for the remainder of our trip. The only thing missing is a pool but having a kitchenette was perfect since there are grocery stores within walking distance. I was so impressed that I inquired about their monthly rates for my next visit.

Downtown Accra Stay

Functional Hotel. Mattress foam had failed and was sinking in the centre. They reversed it which helped. They promised to replace subsequent to my departure.
Breakfast buffet not exciting they also promised to improve on this.
Great Customer Service attitude - The Quality Control Manager was extremely effusive. The front desk reception was also great with Sanem.
I will stay there again

Nice hotel, good location

Stayed here Dec 2015 for 10 days. I would highly recommend this hotel. Great location, clean, friendly staff and good food. Would definitely return.

Over charged for everything

This hotel would have been perfect if everything wasn't an extra cost. They literally nickle and dime you for everything. Have you ever heard of a hotel picking you up from the airport for free but then you having to pay for them to bring you back? Seriously that should be complimentary! We needed a fold out bed for my son and again at most hotels they are complimentary especially if traveling with small ones. That was 20 bucks per night and get this they charged us in USD instead of the local currency cedi so for 5 nights we had to pay 100 dollars USD for a mattress. Seriously? I could go on but the overall point is I wouldn't recommend this place and we wont be staying here again! PS its not Ghanaian owned either which is a huge negative for me.

Slowest elevator in town for a 7 store high building where you share it with staff, skydeli bar at 7th floor, you order a cocktail and they pick it from the ground floor bar, total time 40 minutes
your 2 people in the excecutive room, its a large room, but divided with a rack where the tv is mounted, so watching a movie on my own dvd player is a no go with a early sleeper with you.
Asking for upgrade is impossible, when checking in they used a lot of time if i had paid, i showed them expedias mail and phone message, why dont they just check you in, its like they have a whole night sorting that out.
I just think this hotel is getting the normal Accra touch of lazyness and downgrade, and staff should be more on the marks, and not look down on me when i say I have paid on hotels.com
Also in the room only ceiling lights and one bed light, seriously not okay
the kitchen table slanted with a list of 5 degrees by bad workmanship when apartment was build, standing in front of it made me dizzy

Rooms are home from home

We were well received. Staff is very warm at Roots and they are always ready to help. Wifi worked perfectly from floor to floor.
We were particularly happy with the cleanliness of our rooms and the hotel in general.
