I stayed at this property when my mother passed away two years ago. It was very inviting and relaxing so I was expecting the same level of comfort this time. How WRONG I was!! As soon as I opened the door, I was hit with a stench that was so foul, I was sure there was something rotting in there! Couple that with an overwhelming oder of cigarettes and one could understand how I instantly puked. The room had obviously NOT been cleaned as one can see from the photos attached. The bed had been laid on as the pillows were rumpled and had hair on them. There was #2 in the camode. The oven had remnants of someone’s dinner. The walls looked as if children making mud pies cleaned their hands on the walls. It was disgusting, dingy, nasty, and gave off crackhouse vibes!! I immediately went back to the night drop box, declined to stay on the paperwork and requested a full refund. WHO in their right mind would pay even $1 for a hotel that had roaches in the fridge??!!! Their business should be shut down and the building destroyed!!! Imagine driving 11 hours and pulling up to this after midnight. I’m just thankful I was able to find another place to stay as a few of the other hotels were full. Whoever owns this place should be ashamed!

Once checked in the room it had a bad smell. I had a 3 night stay I ended my stay after the first night. I had to go out and purchase some cleaning products to make the room smell good. The hotel needs some room upgrades removed the carpet out…

I have been coming to Affordable Suites for several years now and it is a hidden gem, I always feel welcome here, the management team are awesome and every time I stay there I make a new friend. For me there is nowhere else that I would rather stay in Jacksonville, I was sold on the place years ago and each stay just gets better because of the people, they are top notch. I've stayed here several times over the years and it's always been enjoyable, each room is like a 1 bedroom apartment with it's own kitchenette which attracted me to the place at first. The manager and the employees are always nice and help when you have an issue, it may not be a 5 star hotel but to me it's a 5 star all the way, a diamond in the rough. I will keep coming back as long as they are there. Thank you Affordable Suites for another great stay.

The main feature is the full kitchen and large space. It is a one-bedroom apartment. All appliances worked but have years of wear. There were enough plates and utensils for my stay.

The manager was flexible with the length of my stay; he offered to extend my reservation but I later did not need the extra day.

Amazed. Not in a good way

While I was there I witnessed what appeared to be an apartment complex being ran and not a hotel. Multiple drug users and dealers and prostitutes. I had no other option but to stay as I had booked and spent the money on this room. Pulling up there was a pile of dirty furniture in the parking lot. And upon getting keys and going to my room I find it’s not what it was suppose to be online. The room was basically bare and didn’t have even an alarm clock. The couch was stained and yellow and wet to the feel assuming it was washed and didn’t dry in time. I ripped the bed apart and decided I’d deal with it as I didn’t see any bed bug signs. Overall it was horrible. And disappointing to say the least. My safety definitely was in question especially after witnessing something the last night that made me so uncomfortable I didn’t sleep before my check out time but an hour. I left my trash in the room as I didn’t feel safe going to the dumpster at 4am and being there was no front desk open left my keys on the table in the room.

This stay was a last minute decision due to traveling for medical reasons. I could not have been happier. The communication with the property manager (Mike) was awesome, and check in was seamless. The property was clean and the clearly written rules and regulations were reassuring. For the cost, it was beyond a good deal. Sure, it’s not the kind of place that has desks with USB ports- but the other amenities it has for the price you pay is amazing. 10/10 recommend for bang for the buck.

Know what your priorities are before booking. If you want a fancy hotel, this isn’t it. If you want a separate living/dining room and kitchenette over cleanliness, this is the place for you. Be careful not to leave food out. There was a bug that crawled out of the kitchen sink while I was washing dishes. Brooklyn has more bugs than this place did.

If you need clean air vents, bring your own cleaner, as they aren’t dusted here.

The metal towel racks in the kitchen also have rust in them. Again, this isn’t the Ritz. The refrigerator and freezer worked well for keeping my stuff cold.

The floor was swept clean but dirty. Socks would be black within 10 minutes of walking around. Under couch cushions was gross.

It was my friend's first time coming to Jacksonville and I wanted to find him somewhere close to everything without breaking the bank. He was late checking in and the manager texted me to let me know that they were out of the office and gave details to gain access to the room. That was greatly appreciated! My friend was really impressed with being in walking distance to Walmart, Dollar Tree, Denny's, Golden Corral, and Apple Bee's. The area is very clean and situated around various other hotels. The room is as pictured and is very clean as well. He stated that this will be his new home away from home when visiting Jacksonville from now on.

The manager is very friendly and will assist you with your requests. The first room provided was not acceptable for our stay. A second room was provided and met our needs. The property is maintained outside but the manager is refurbushing 4 rooms a month. So some rooms are much nicer than others. The suits are the size of a one bedroom apartment. The area is safe with many stores and resturants in walking distance. So if you are looking to book a good size suit without the Hotel atmosphere, this would be a good choice. The ac worked great but do to Covid 19 there is no daily housekeeping. The one issue is there is smoking allowed on the walkway outside your room and not in a designated area away from the entry to your room. The kitchen has older appliances showing signs of wear and rust.

Although the property managers did the best they could to communicate with us, it is just not a very comfortable place to stay. They told us that the room we were in was occupied for 5 months and that’s why it wasn’t very out together because they only had one day to clean it in. That isn’t our problem though. It should’ve been cleaned even more because of that. All the walls were dirty. Like greasy and fingerprints and stuff on them. You couldn’t sit on the couch because it sank in the middle and smelled terrible. They said someone burned bacon in there and that was the smell, but it smelled like cigarettes. There was two of us in the room and we only got 3 towels for the whole week and no hand towels. I was told I’d get new towels but never did. They did change our sheets because I’m convinced the were never changed because once I got new sheets they smelled good and felt fresh. My bed had a lean to it and made sleeping difficult. I prob should’ve took them up on a different room but when you’re on vacation and move all your stuff into a room the thought of doing it all again was overwhelming. The manager tried and the cleaners were kind, but at the end of the day if you knew a room was in that bad of shape because someone had been in there for five months, it should’ve never been rented out to begin with until all the issues were taken care of. We will not be staying there again.

(I drove 21 hours; across 6 states, to be told my room was given away) After booking my room on the 1st of August, I called on August 9th(11am) to inform the staff that I would be arriving late. “Mike” Said that as long as my credit card was on file, that i would be fine with checking in late, even though the office closed at 7pm. “Mike” informed me that he took the initiative to write down my name and number, and that he would call me around 3pm, to make sure i was checked in properly; due to the “system being down”, he couldn’t help me right then and there. After i didn’t receive a phone call, i decided to call them myself. (6pm)“Mike” answered the phone, and let me know that not only was my room given away, but they also tried telling me that I could go down the street to a different hotel, and they expected me to pay the “suite” price, for a room with a double bed.. After arguing and letting them know that i wasn’t going to be paying $220 for a room that i didn’t want, “Mike” tried to explain that the hotel would “compensate” $40 (the supposed difference) , so that i wouldn’t complain. I’m sorry, but why would i pay $220 for a room i didn’t want, when i was only paying $175 for a suite, that i originally booked. Doesn’t make sense. Long story short, The hotel notified Expedia saying that they “accidentally” gave my room away, and made them handle the situation, instead of doing the right thing and compensating me for THEIR mess up.

It was good place to stay while going to the MCT graduation of my daughter. Place was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. It is dated with its decor but the full kitchen was very helpful for preparing food for my daughter and her bunkmates during the weekend of liberty. The walking distance of nearby shopping of Walmart and Dollar Tree was very good. Liz, the manager, was very helpful and accommodating for my late arrival.

I did like that it had the kitchen and the living space, it was a quiet area. But my room had some dust, the bed was kinda broke. And when I went to use to stove top the oven had been unplugged so we had to pull that out to plug it in. Also when I got there and just went in and my card was already in an envelope ready to go, but they didn’t seem to greet me at all. Kinda felt rushed.

When we arrived, they didn't have our reservation which was ok because they were very nice and got us a room anyway. All was good until we came back to the room to sleep. The air condition was very cold and produced a ton of moisture. All our cloths were very damp and as we were packing my husband saw a roach on the wall! :(

You get what you pay for

My wife and I stayed here over a typical weekend. This weekend like almost every other during the year the hotel was predominantly Marines with their wives or girlfriends which is what we expected. The good part was that everybody was very well behaved and the hotel was quiet unlike some of the reports that you might have heard that it a huge noisy party going on all my long. Fortunately this was not the case. During the week it is mostly Duke power employees and their trucks were left there all weekend making it rather tight for parking. It appears we got the last available room for the weekend and it was very evident that somebody had been smoking cigarettes in this room. The management did attempt to clean the room and get the smell out but were basically unsuccessful. Neither my wife or I smoke so it was very evident. They went as far as shampooing the rug which was still wet when we got there and really needs to be pulled out and the floor were retitled. The bathroom was clean and the bed was very comfortable. As for an extended stay hotel there was only one packet of coffee for the coffee maker. Only enough flatware for one person and the plates and glasses needed a good cleaning before they should be used. We were a late check in on Friday evening in the office was closed but they did leave or keys in a lockbox right next to the office. The lady when we checked out in the office was very nice and courteous and I told her about the smoke in the room.

Very AMAZING! Very AFFORDABLE! Staff is Excellent! A good stay for breezing through Jacksonville, NC. Very close to local shopping and food. It was very quite and had nice amenities. Would recommend to everyone visiting.
