Conveniently positioned opposite the Cathedral. Limited parking behind the pub. But on-road parking outside the pub itself. Nicely decorated rooms. Extremely helpful, and friendly staff. Only a short walk to facilities shops/resaurants etc (albeit uphill on the return).

We enjoyed a 2 night stay in one of the newly refurbished bedrooms (Room 5). The room was furnished to a high standard with a modern bathroom and excellent walk-in shower.
The staff were uniformly friendly and efficient with a good selection of beers and spirits at the bar. We ate dinner one night and the food was well cooked and of a very good quality.
Our only minor ‘gripe’ was being unable to get a drink at the bar after returning from a meal out in Arundel at 9.40pm but otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable stay!

There would appear to be a plumbing issue, was in one of the 3 rooms located outside the main building and everytime someone went to the toilet or run a tap or shower, there was a lot of banging, obviously the plumbing needs repaired. The shower was not the cleanest either, could do with a good scrub. There were cigarette ends lying around the door.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location and parking is excellent. It was an extremely hot weekend, but even so, having fans available for the rooms would have been good. Rooms face pub garden/courtyard....something to be aware of if you want total peace and quiet. That said very quiet at overnight.

St Marys Gate Inn looked extremely comfortable, clean and welcoming in the photo's online. Believe me when I say, it is much much more when you arrive.
Welcomed by Lola on arrival (we were much earlier than expected) we were shown a table for Sunday lunch straight away (Food is excellent both flavours and presentation). The room was exceptional, huge main area, immaculate bathroom, tea and separate coffee facilities in the room, two huge windows. Bed was very comfortable, just a very relaxing pleasant place to be.
Definitely recommended and I would definitely stay there again, hopefully for longer.

What a gem of a place.. great location, great communication, clean comfortable rooms and a brilliant breakfast. We would definitely return and maybe spend longer as it is perfectly situated for exploring the area.

Really good find and I would certainly return if in the area. Rooms were a good size with all amenities, food in the pub was excellent and all home cooked including the pickles and relish. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would mention is that the bathroom floor was very cold, being tiled and ground floor, however that was the only criticism I could make of a very good stay.

Had a lovely comfortable room, clean and tidy & well decorated
Bit frustrating that the pub this is set within closed at 6 on day of arrival & wasnt open other 2 days, with no prior notice. There was no TV available in the room and builders started early.
However the service from Kerry, Katie and Dave was superb and accommodated us as best as possible during their refurb (which looks great, by the way!)
Would love to stay again if in the area.

We had a lovely stay. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially James. The food was lovely, plenty of choice and well cooked. Our room was comfortable and reasonably spacious. The location is perfect for visiting the Castle Cathedral and the town. Brilliant that it has it's own car park. Only slight down point is the decor is a little tired in places and could do with a refresh.

I would stay here again.

Pros: Location, price, excellent breakfast, quiet and all great. It was also dog friendly. I had room 1, with a queen 4 poster bed. Free parking was right outside the door.
It was a hot summer and there is no air conditioning, the windows open a few inches only, but we were able to borrow a tower fan.
Con’s: Bathroom was a little awkward, with no place to put on my make up or toiletries bag at the sink. Tiny shower stall (I’m 5’4”, 110 lbs). No outlets in the bathroom. No table outside the bathroom near the large mirror to put hair dryer or makeup either.
Flat pillows and rather scratchy comforter cover.

Nice little area but unfortunately the room was quite cold for saying it was summer. The shower curtain was mouldy and wasn’t meant for that shower cubicle so got in the way or leaked water everywhere. Purchased the room due to having a coffee machine in the room however this wasn’t in the room.

Arundel is a lovely town to visit. The accommodation was in a great location.The pub is lovely. The staff are great and we enjoyed our breakfast.
Our only problems are that the room had dog hairs which was off putting and the shower water was tepid.
The pub is closed on Mondays so there was no breakfast. This was disappointing because we were not informed, nor was it factored in the price.

Friendly and helpful staff but unfortunately we were not told beforehand that the restaurant was shut and although they did make us a cooked breakfast for the Saturday and Sunday morning the pub itself is shut all day Monday so no breakfast was provided.
The room was cold when we arrived and we had to ask for the heated towel rail to be turned on in the en suite. The room was in need of a bit of TLC and were given the impression that this would be done later in the year. The bed was comfortable though and the shower was good.
Ideal location for exploring Arundel and nice to be slightly out of the high street.

I booked this hotel as it had a restaurant but told on arrival it was closed. Also tried to get Internet but after putting in the code there was no Internet available. Breakfast was far too late had to be in a meeting at 9 doesn't start until 9. No body there when I checked out at 8.30 so had to just post the key through the letterbox but was very clean and comfortable so I would just advise don't book if you're on a business trip. If you're on holiday it will be great. Also after booking please advise no restaurant as I really didn't want to go and find dinner thanks

Great experience here. The new staff team really looked after me, from when I arrived until I left. I was greeted by a very polite and professional young member of staff who got me checked in quickly and showed me where the rooms were. The atmosphere in the pub was great so I went straight back in for a drink!

Really good breakfast made fresh.

I got some local tips and advice on places to visit too from the staff that all worked out perfectly!

Hotel booked for romantic getaway, excellent area to stay in just a short walk into town. Room clean and comfortable with everything needed. Shower a bit useless head needs sorting coffee maker great idea and parking directly outside. Bed very comfortable indeed.
Right next to pub with open fire so perfect. A few mishaps booked 3 nights b&b but only got 2 breakfasts because one was on new years day and pub was closed so not brilliant and could have done with a daily room check cleanup as had to keep asking for clean cups toilet rolls etc. Had a great time there but new years eve the pub was very busy and lots of lads out the back of pub by the rooms getting very drunk and loud and being sick right outside the door had to ask them to move away several times but not great idea having that area there so close to the rooms.
Overall was worth it we enjoyed our stay. just sort out those mishaps😉

We booked for New Year’s Eve as it suited our needs and the price was good and included breakfast, which was confirmed by The St Mary’s Gate Inn directly.
When we arrived we checked in and were taken to the room only to be told that breakfast was not included and we should have been informed but we were not, we were told breakfast was included.
The room was tired and needs better cleaning and the bathroom towel rail did not work so the bathroom was cold so did not shower.
On check out nobody was around and the pub was closed and locked up with no key drop with no instructions so we had to leave the key in the room and pull the door shut.
We wouldn’t stay here again.

Booked two nights for NY Eve and Day with breakfast. Was informed on arrival there would be no breakfast on NY Day as they never provide, despite this being confirmed on the booking, and pre arrival call. No food on other days as no kitchen staff, bar closed early all with no advance notice. NY Eve someone was sick outside our entrance door (was from the car park not an indoor corridor) and this stayed there 24 hours before being cleaned. Whole impression of couldn't care less......

Comfortable bed. Room wasn’t ready on check - in, but we had a free drink whilst waiting. Powerful shower. Towel rail efficient. Clean bedding and towels. Warm . Electrics and internet cable suspect. Wi-fi connection intermittent.Loo roll holder missing. Loo seat loose. Dusty blinds. Poor staffing levels owing to sickness meant it was closed two nights and no routine service. Needs two bedside tables and lamps rather than redundant chair. Considering it is dog friendly, no consideration as to the dogs needs- washing up food bowls and tinned food storage. A fridge would be good.

A little disappointing

The location was excellent in relation to closeness to the village. The accommodation could have been better as we had no hot water in the shower form the Thursday that we arrived till the Saturday before we left after the whole shower got replaced. The furniture had a covering of mildew/damp/mould and really needed attention although it was fit for purpose. The pub was comfortable and staff were polite and the breakfast was very nice.

Convenient location, let down by the noisy plumbing which meant we needed earplugs for a decent nights sleep. Very difficult to set the shower temperature which was acknowledged by a sign on the en-suite door, which of course you don’t see until you arrive.
Breakfast quality variable - first day was cooked to perfection, 2nd day not so good (bacon & mushrooms undercooked, sausage over cooked).

The staff were wonderful and so helpful. We had requested an early check in as going to a wedding and this has been sorted and our room was ready when we arrived. The weekend we were here there was a festival in Arundel so parking was a nightmare but we had a space at St Mary's within half an hour. Slept very well the bed was very comfortable and breakfast was great and very welcome and lots of fresh coffee on tap. Overall a great place to stay and would certainly come back again.

Stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend for a wedding as travelled quite far. Overall our stay was excellent - staff were very friendly, great location, room and bathroom very clean, fast wifi (brilliant as signal not great), included breakfast. Breakfast varied each morning in quantity which was unusual but both plenty! We had one of the outer rooms in an extended building not part of the inn itself - it was adjacent to the beer garden so if you want an early night in the nicer months it might be a disturbance but again it is a pub inn. We were only back in the room late evenings so not a problem for us! The only thing I would say is I wish they changed or cleaned the shower curtain more often as the bottom was yellowed and that we had a thicker quilt as was quite chilly at night. However this said both me and my partner said we will be booking to stay here again for another trip to Arundel!

The staff were very welcoming on arrival. Pleasant surroundings etc. The only complaint is that in the morning there was no hot water in the shower. We can the tap for ages but were unable to have a shower which we found very inconvenient. There was only kitchen staff at breakfast so there was nobody to address this to. A good find

The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was very nice, and the beer garden was pleasant and fortunately sunny. A great bonus to be able to park for free right outside our accommodation (a separate block from the pub itself).

The lady that checked us in and served breakfast was very friendly and an asset to the pub It was nicely decorated and clean and the breakfast was enormous

Nice place

We had a pleasant stay and the pub is located next to the cathedral. Room 5 was nice and quiet as it around the back. Slight disappointment was the limited menu. This was due to them being extremely busy and running out of things
