The pool was nice to have, but no shade so it got quite hot. Our room was not the cleanest, and the shower and sink were coming out of the walls. The bed was also very hard, even for Thailand. It was nice to be in a quieter area, about a 15 minute walk from the main streets. There was also a friendly horse!

Price are bit high for the condition of the room. Dirty, smelly, and a lot of insect. After we came back from exploring the island, we saw a big cockroach running out from the bed. We really want to leave but we already pay and it non refundable and all the hotel on the island is booked so we just have to deal with the situation. It was horrible experience

The room wasn’t clean, the floor was sticky, I stayed two night and in both of them I had to kill cockroaches in my room, the electronic lock didn’t work properly, I had to stay several minutes in front of my door waiting for it to work EVERY SINGLE TIME. Reception was left unattended multiple times when I need to reach for help. I wouldn’t recommend this place!

The room does not exist

The room we booked does not exist and Hotels.com will not take responsibility. My husband and I booked a deluxe villa for our honeymoon but upon arriving were told these were under construction. We were given a much smaller room with no windows. We were moved to two other rooms with broken AC and horrendously dirty bathrooms. Hotels.com have claimed they cannot get in touch with the hotel and therefore will not give us a refund. They clearly trust their hotels over their customers. Considering the hotel and Hotels.com are both at fault for advertising a room that doesn’t exist, we are shocked at their dismissal. We have been loyal customers for years and feel we have seen where their true priorities lie – with their hotels, allowing them to ignore calls and not take accountability for terrible service. The money back would mean a whole lot more to us than to a corporate like Hotels.com. Even accepting the refund as One Key Cash which essentially funnels back into their pocket was not offered. Hotels.com do not care about their customers.

We loved this place!!! We stayed four nights and would have stayed longer if didn't already have other plans. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and so serene and peaceful. Very close to town and all the action, but far enough to give you a quiet oasis. The pool is so wonderful with amazing views of the hillsides. The staff are very generous with daily waters and coffee. They will hold your luggage for the hours needed before departing . Super fantastic place!!!

Quiet, but quite a walk from the pier

Room itself was clean and fine, but be wary of the location. It’s quite a way from the pier with no one to help you with your bags. It’s also (I found) not that obvious to find using maps. My room had no window which was a bit odd, but due to location you can’t hear the main strip at night which is good. Lady on reception was very nice and welcoming, but this wasn’t my favourite place tbh. Should’ve saved Phi Phi for just a day trip.

If you want to avoid the overally touristy, loud centre of Phi Phi, this hotel is ideal. Still only a 15min walk from the pier, it's set back close to the look out point. The room we stayed in was basic, but clean & check in was easy.

We spent very little time at the hotel as we were exploring the island, but many if the issues people mention in other reviews, we did not experience.

For us, it was what we expected for the price we paid :) no complaints!

Worst experience ever

Better to stay with some other place. Don't get confused from the images and ratings otherwise will suffer like us. Bed and pillow are worst quality and we feel back pain the morning. Even their lock was faulty and when I asked for the room change then they asked to wait and asked their hotel staff to fix it which took 1 hr and still it was faulty.
They don't care for customer satisfaction and comfort. They just care for the Baht and Baht. Worst hotel experience ever.

The pool was lovely and I liked the artificial grass underfoot. I enjoyed watching the pony wandering around. The staff had limited English but were pleasant and helpful. The room was fine, air con good, bed clean. A few cobwebs in corners! It’s worth noting that the staff only clean your room on request

Clean and tidy, no frills.

Cheap and cheerful. The room was great for one night as passing through. It’s set back a little from the hustle of the town so expect a little walk. Room was clean and tidy, but the overall site could do with some improving. However, good value. You also get a pony in the reception 👍.

The staff was okay, the problem was that this is false advertisement. The hotel is in the not so nice area of the island, within 5 min of a waste collection area which u have to cross to get to the shopping area or back to hotel. The WiFi didn’t work and the bed was hard as stone.

The Chang Grand was nothing like it's pictures. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. At one point we lost water, and the staff really couldn't explain why or when it would come back on. My friend and I played around with the water box (not sure what this is actually called) and got a spattering of water to come out, so had to wash our hair with the least amount of water pressure I've ever encountered. The pillows were about a foot thick and very firm, so we slept on the throw pillows (actually, my friend slept on her travel neck pillow...). To make matters worse, they never once came to clean our room or change our towels. We had to ask them for towels and the staff, who didn't speak much English (which is totally fine and not part of the negative review) basically ignored our request for more and only brought one (not two) after I asked 3 times. Also, I did laundry there and one of my items came back with a weird brown stain on it. I would not recommend this hotel, despite it's reasonable price and seemingly nice pictures.

Not a resort or a spa! 10 min from beach 15 pier

Location 15 minutes walk up hill to the hotel from the pier and 10 minute walk to the beach front. Definitely not a resort or a spa as ther was not other facilities besides the top
. Unfortunately I had not read any reviews priory however wish I had as I would have found somewhere else. The room was not as dirty as mentioned in other reviews and clean sheets however we stayed for several nights and not once was the towels refreshed or bed made. There was a sad looking horse walking about. Also has a derelict boxing gym. It’s a shame really as with a bit of attention and care the grounds would be quite nice.

Lovely place to stay and very friendly people . Great island with beautiful beaches with local Islands to visit not far to travel by long tail boat or speed boat. We hired long tail boat which you can have at your own leisure.

This was a huge disappointment from the second we arrived the hotel shown in advertisements is not what we got it was the back end of a martial arts gym with a disgusting yard full of garbage they burned every night making out room stink. The staff was never around and terrible room service no amenities ,would not send enemy there They refused to check us out so they could keep our room key deposit. Not happy with this Expedia choice.

Two people couldn't use the bathroom because the toilet could only flush about once every 30min. When we left we rang a service bell and the man sleeping on the floor woke up long enough to take our key and lay back down

Pictures are misleading!

Awful bed, way out of town, not what's shown on the map.. no hot water, shower didn't drain, no A/C. I paid for the breakfast included option, they don't even serve breakfast. No spa like the title of the place. No English speaking staff. Got bitten in the night. Way too expensive for what it is. I moved to another location, same price, a huge huge difference. I have no idea how this hotel is shown as a three star hotel. It is terrible.

Lots of mosquito and room so dirty. Safe doesn't work. Toilet lock doesn't work. Hair dryer is broken. Air-com so doesn't feel like it work properly even leave it on all day. Bed sheet dirty, have big stain on it. Floor also dirty and bathroom so dirty seem like never been clean for ages.

horrible experience; Ran off in 3 hours lost 350$

We had a horrible experience - both villas did not have adequate aircon; it was like a Sauna for free. Bathroom not very clean also. Staff tried to keep my passport and I had to argue to get it back saying just do a photo copy and return it now!! When spoken to staff they just didn't seek to agree on anything and keep insisting aircon is good when they can clearly see it's not. After arguing a while we checked out within 3 hours with no money returned back. Absolutely no facilities - we had paid 350$ which was a total waste of money given we only stayed 3 hours. Won't recommend even to my enemy :(

We requested two beds (brother and I) and got a twin . They said they were out of rooms with two and we had to share. They wanted us to pay more for a roll away and we said no it should be free. They bring a rusty old piece of garbage COVERED in spider webs and sacs and try to say we have to have that as the second bed. We called expedia and cancelled but the hotel refused to refund us the fees, also the balcony looks out over heaps of garbage.

Made a last minute booking on PhiPhi, you get what you pay for. It's not too for from where you want to be but the hotel has not be maintained. It looks like the hotel was made with a reasonable investment but it appears run down and the pictures are old. The room has a lingering moldy smell and you're better off booking something else.
The staff are nice but just don't know any better.

Don't be fooled

Did the job for one night. But no where near the beach like photos might suggest. Don't pay extra for breakfast as we did, it doesn't exist and be wary when checking out, you just need to lean over the counter and wake up the person on duty who is sleeping on the ground. Reception was very rude and wouldn't check us out or even tell us where breakfast was. Simply pulled the blanket back over his head.

The hotel staff was friendly but the AC broke, they didn't have cable/satilite as advertised, the walk from the bars to the hotel was not lighted and walking there at night scared me. The walls were so thin I could hear the neighbors baby crying. I paid for two night but checked out after 1.

Not quite a resort...but PP's got limited options

Well, a resort this is not. We'd booked a suite with two single beds but upon arrival were told they could not find our reservation (not sure if it's their fault or Expedia's, happened in other hotels too). We were given a suite with a double bed and told that's all that's left. The room had some issues -- like the AC turning off by itself, the toilet not flushing properly, etc. There also wasn't really amenities as I would've expected from a resort & spa. The staff was okay but not as friendly or efficient as those at other places we stayed at in SE Asia.

But then again, there aren't all that many options on Koh Phi Phi.

Stinky Bathroom, plenty of spiders and ants

The room had been about half updated but the lighting was dim making the room dark and depressing. There were ants all over the patio and spiders and mosquitos, too. Inside I saw a spider and heavy cobwebs in each corner. The bed was comfortable. It was a hike from town and this facility was certainly not worth the hike. The price for the room was much too high for the location and condition. In the middle of the night the bathroom started reeking from sewer gas (can you say - no traps?). I would not recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for 4 nights in November 2014. The first impressions were quite poor. There was zero hospitality from this family run establiahment. No instructions or guidance on arrival.

In our room, which was the first bungalow/chalet you came to, it looked tranquil. Upon closer inspection the balcony was infested with ants. The inside of the room was basic. The provided wifi was rubbish and the cable television did not work. There were no facilities to hang up clothes. The bathroom floor was dirty and the towel rail was not secured to the wall. The \"power\" shower was stone cold.

For each consecutive day the room was \"cleaned\" to a certain degree, to the extent that they made the bed and nothing else. They did not empty the bin, refresh the loo roll or any other form of cleaning. Meanwhile, the young lads who work there, could be seen lounging around all day every day.

This hotels only saving grace is that it is relatively close to everything, yet still quiet when sleep is required.

Horrible location, poor room

Where can I start, the hotel location is pretty bad, downtown and lots of constructions. When I was walking down the road I thought I think I'm on a wrong way, the hotel can not be here.
In the room, the bed and sheets we're clean, but the floor was full of dead insects and some stuff we thought dumps of rats. The internet didn't work while our stay. The man working in the reception was helpful, but of course it's not enough to make your stay good.

Okay but just for 2 days

No idea why it's call resort and Spa.... I haven't seen any but maybe I'm wrong.
We had 2 days and after getting used to the island we moved to another one closer to town and beach.
Not to far away but it's uphill and the weather can be a killer at midday for example. I wouldn't recommend it for old people or maybe small kids. Also if you're carrying much stuff.
It's just 10-20 minutes walk to the beach depending on your pace but can be hard at times Specially after a long day because of the weather.
One good positive thing is that you won't heard a thing and sleep like a baby.
The rooms are decent, the bathroom a bit less... Need some basic maintenance as things are hanging lose and rusty. No wardrobe was a negative surprise too. Just a few weird round hangers. We didn't have breakfast so I can't comment but it's served in a sort of hall where they improvise a table for you... I looks a bit weird.
I would probably recommend it for not more than 2 nights.

Great if you want a quiet night's sleep

We booked this place whilst travelling. The hotel itself is about a 10 minute walk from the main pier on Phi Phi. There around 8 or 9 separate bungalows and ours was great. It was clean and airy and the bathroom was a good size.

The hotel is family run by a man and his son and they seem pretty laid back and friendly.

The hotel is only a short walk away from all of the bars restaurants and beach. Good for couples especially if you want a quiet night away from the loud music from the bars down at the beach.

(Phi Phi Don is a the main island right next to Phi Phi Leh, home of Maya Bay (from the movie 'The Beach'). Definitely worth visiting but go really early in the morning to avoid the crowds by chartering a long tail. Otherwise do it as part of a tour. It is a beautiful beach but spoiled by speed boats and far to many tourists during the day.)

Be cautious of this hotel. Bring a printed copy of your hotel confirmation. I booked my reservation a month in advance but when I arrived they couldn't find my reservation. Luckily I had my confirmation number and after 20 minutes of talking and them making a phone call we had our room. It is a family owned hotel and father and son were at the desk when we arrived. The father seems to speak very little English and the son knows just a little more. They weren't rude just a bit disorganized. We had little interaction with the staff during our stay but the bag boy who took our luggage to the dock upon checkout was nice.

I always check the hotel's website as Expedia notes that the description may not be completely accurate as they post what is provided by the hotels. On Expedia the Deluxe Villa and the Suite Villa have the same description with different pictures. On the hotel's website the descriptions are quite different with the Suite offering more amenities then the Deluxe. The staff said we were given the Suite but the room and amenities we received were what were described on Expedia's and the hotel's website of the Deluxe, so save yourself some money and if you book this hotel get the Deluxe. The pictures of the hotel are accurate.

There are dual plugs in the room and satellite television. However, of the 300 channels not one station was in English. The shower had two heads, one was a removable head with hot water and the other a rain head with cold water.

Stay away from this hotel. I've never been treated so badly and so grossed out by the way they clean a room. I read the reviews and thought it would be a nice place to stay away from all the action. At check-in they tried to down grade my room and tell me that the room they were giving me was the deluxe villa...which it wasn't. I had to argue with him and show him my booking and the room I booked. After about 10 minutes of showing him all my bookings he finally agreed to give me the room I rented. The next day at 4:30pm my room still wasn't cleaned. I had to ask the hotel staff if they cleaned rooms daily. They said yes. Well mine wasn't cleaned. The hotel staff finally made it to my room to clean. I watched them pull off the sheets, shake them and put the same sheets back on. As they were about to put them back on the bed I asked why no clean sheets. They just looked at me and said \"well they look clean and no marks on them\". I insisted on clean sheets. Finally they get to the bathroom. No cleaning supplies at all. Didn't whip a thing down. Just put two towels up. When I first looked in the washroom there were waste marks on the inside bowl. I wouldn't stay here again. They honestly don't know how to treat guests. Even ones that can also speak the same language as them.

Pretty far from the beach. Had to walk for 15- 20minutes and with no google maps working it can be challenging. You have to rely on the local maps given at information centers. Hotel is very new but very far. The surroundings are amazing. green and calm.

My stay was restful, quiet and comfortable. The title is totally misleading...it was not grand and not a resort. It was up the hill and out of the way. It was however great value at 30.00 Canadian for a brand new, spotless, air conditioned room. The shower was great and the plumbing good. The bed was very comfortable. Worthless hotel

Absolutely hopeless. Pictures shows different story on net. Actually it is a dead place. There is nothing in terms of infrastructure. No kictchen support. In one word should never stay in this hotel. Expedia should check the hotels before recommending.

You gotta love the photos

I liked this place but there are 2 ways to get to it from the dock I would say always go the gypsy village rout the other route passes a sewage treatment plant with a smell that will knock u off your feet. The view from this place is non existent but the rooms are brilliant. (The deluxe room) the people on the island are generally nice but the amount of building, which as a European is of truly shocking standard is off putting some dangerous bits so watch out.

Das Zimmer war sehr dreckig. Die Bettwäsche hatte einige ekelhafte Flecken
Das Bad war voller Kalk, kein Warmwasser, aus der Toilette kam den ganzen Tag ein ekelhafter Gestank, was das ganze Zimmer verpestet hat. Nicht empfehlenswert das Hotel. Das Personal spricht kein Englisch

Sehr ruhig gelegen, aber trotzdem ist man schnell im Trubel. Leider liegt hinter dem Pool doch reichlich Müll rum. Vielleicht könnte man dort mal aufräumen. Sonst war eigentlich alles gut.

Établissement très bien placé au calme de la foule des touristes sans être trop éloigné des lieux d'animations.

Das Hotel ist innerhalb einer schönen grünen natürlichen Umgebung mit einem großartigem und extrem sauberen Pool. Wir waren im „new wing“ und fanden das Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis super. Es gibt immer Kaffee for free und der Pool ist 24/7 nutzbar. Wir fanden es super das es nicht direkt mitten in der quirligen Innenstadt ist - sondern in einer Nebengasse von der man dennoch in 5 min im Geschehen ist. Man hat auch einen schnellen Weg zum Strand. Das Personal ist super lieb und das Pony Nam Tan mehr als süß. Einzig das Badezimmer könnte etwas Reparatur am Waschbecken benötigen und minimale Verdichtungsarbeiten in der Dusche - nur Kleinigkeiten die sicherlich auf dem Schirm sind. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen und freuen uns auf das nächste Mal :)

A piscina é a única parte arrumadinha do hotel, o restante é decepcionante. No quarto as coisas são velhas e mal cuidadas, tem um cavalo solto no pátio e consequentemente tem sujeira para todo lado. Os atendentes tentam ser simpáticos, mas como não falam quase inglês dificulta bastante o entendimento.

El hotel es bonito, la piscina muy chevere, pero el servicio es muy malo, nos entregaron la habitación sucia principalmente el baño, solicite Jabon para el baño y nunca lo llevaron, tuvimos que pedir cambio de habitación porque me dieron una por la cual yo no había pagado.

Kjempe beliggenhet, ikke forlangt unna hovedområdene på øya, men langt nok unna at man slipper unna alt av partystøy på kvelden. Det som trekker litt ned er at det luktet veldig innestengt på rommet. Litt ustabil aircondition på rommene.

Urlaub auf dem Bauernhof

Es entsprach alles wie im Internet gesehen, nur das Umfeld war wie ein
veralteter Resthof. Zur Anlage gehört eine Thaiboxschule, deren Einrichtung (Tsunamischäden)
direkt vor den Wohneinheiten aufgearbeitet worden sind.

Das Ressort liegt nicht so zentral und das Personal kann nahezu kein Englisch. Aber am schlimmsten ist das die die ganze Zeit am bauen sind was sehr viel Lärm macht. Aber die Zimmer und duschen sind echt gut.

Funktionsloser Boiler Maler Dreck überall Bauschutt an der Terrasse total verdreckte Fensterschreiben das Bett sah gut aus aber so hart wie ein Brett und der Safe nicht befestigt und ohne Funktion
Nach 4 Stunden hin und her storniert und im dunklen ein anderes Hotel gesucht

Sin duda no es mi prototipo de hotel. Las fotos mostradas en la web no tienen nada que ver con el estado del hotel.

Eso sí, el personal fue muy amable a nuestra llegada aunque durante la estancia no tubimos servicio de limpieza de la habitación.

A mi modo de ver, es un hotel para aquella persona que busque algo económico sin importarle el estado del hotel.

Vi blev omringade av katter som även smet in i vårat rum. Utanför vår balkong stod det en häst. Rummet var fullt av myggor. Och sängarna var ostadiga på hjul. Duschen hade jättedåligt vattentryck. Vår dörr gick knappt att låsa, för den satt bara fast i en liten skruv, så man kunde lätt rycka upp hela låset. Våra grannar var ett gäng med ryska killar som ropade osmakliga saker åt oss.
