The XII Century hotel in Trogir is a great spot to feel like you're staying in history. Located inside the tiny walled island on the edge of town you're immersed in history once you step over the bridge. Our room was unique as it worked with the ancient architecture of the hotel. Pitched ceilings and views of the marina made it special.

Converted Attic Room

Staff were very nice and room was clean. However, our room was a converted attic space where you had to walk around bent over or on your knees because the roof was sloped and so low. We could barely get into bed, not to mention the high risk of hitting your head on the wooden rafters when you wake up at 3AM to go to the bathroom. Only in approximately 10% of the room could you fully stand up straight, and we are not a tall couple. Thank god it was only a one night stay. And we paid for a Superior Room. I almost forgot the best part - carrying our heavy luggage up four flights of stairs because there was no elevator and no bell hop. Will not return here. Trogir was very nice, though.

We found out after check-in the air conditioner was broken in our room. They put a window unit and a fan in our room. The problem was we were on the lowest floor and the smoke from the restaurants coming in through the window unit was strong enough to trigger a migraine. That was no fun for the flight the next day.

The hotel is in a great location and close to the airport. It was easy to make an early morning flight. Every member of the staff was nice and helpful. If the a/c had not been a problem I would have rated 5 stars.

We really enjoyed our one night at this property. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating, and the room was delightful, far better than we expected for the rate we paid. We had stayed in Split at the Luxe Hotel earlier in our trip, and it was a disaster at three times the rate. This is definitely a hidden gem and highly recommended.

It opens up onto a long promanade and marina with plenty of bars and restaurants in the vicinity. We had a lovely large room with a mini bar and air condirioning (which was essential as the temperatures were in the mid 30s).

Lovely spot in a stunning bit of town

Lovely hotel in a lovely spot but you must note:

Parking is at a specific location (contact hotel for details) it is not near the hotel due to no parking at that end of the old town. Hotel has a golf trolley to shepherd luggage, so give them a call as the streets are cobbled and took a wheel off one of our suitcases.

We had a family room which was on the top floor (4th floor) and there are no lifts. Staff took luggage up so that we didn’t have to, but you don’t want to step out the front and realise you’ve forgotten your sunglasses.

Staff are wonderful. Restaurant/bar is out the front and the food is great and reasonably priced, although the included breakfast is very basic.

What a wonderful opportunity to stay in a historic hotel! Our room is big and well appointed. We have a comfortable king bed! The room is very quiet despite the promenade right outside our window. The ceiling is quite low because we are in the “attic” room, but in our 2 days here we haven’t hit our head once! There is no elevator,, but we’ve been able to navigate the 4 flights with only moderate huffy and puffing! The staff has been very helpful and we’ve had no problems with language! This is a once in a lifetime hotel!

Excellent Hotel

We had a seaview room on the 3rd floor. Room was very spacious and very clean. Bed was super comfy. Hotel staff very helpful. View from room is amazing and can easily watch sunset from the room.

We stayed at the XII Century Heritage both the nights before and after our Adriatic cruise. They were great and helped arrange airport transportation on both ends, store baggage and provide early check ins both times. Highly recommend!

Frustrating room experience

We had two rooms and in one of these the air conditioner failed. The staff repeatedly challenged me that the air conditioner was working fine and I needed to give it more time. My sons finally came to our room and said they could not stay in their room any longer as it was too hot. I told the from desk lady and she challenged me again. I took her to the room and she admitted the room was not cooling. I told her that I should not be expected to pay for a room that was unusable and she agreed. Then, when the evening manager came, she argued with me aggressively that I was wrong. I left in utter frustration as I was so angry. Later, I went to the front desk again to settle the issue. She had me pay extra to have my two boys stay in my room. I did not, however, have to pay for the unusable room after a long discussion. This was a very frustrating experience for me and my family.

Definitely book at this hotel for my next trip

The hotel is renovated and looks clean everywhere. The staff are friendly and eager to help. The location is great. Ask for the room with a water view. The 10% at the restaurant below is a bonus.

This property is located right on the harbor in Trogir. Outside the building is very historic, but inside is a great mix of history and modern cleanliness. The entrance was a little hard to spot since there are two (delicious) restaurants with outdoor seating in front. Parking is off-site, so you will need to walk a short way to the hotel. The hotel has a lot on the other side of the river, but given our short stay we chose to park on the island at a slightly higher rate. Staff was friendly and spoke excellent English. Room itself was clean and modern. The property location was amazing, with excellent views and centrally located. Castle and cathedral are *very* short walks, and just across the bridge is an open air market.

If we return to the area I would *definitely* stay there again. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

We stayed here before sailing out of Marina Boatic and it was in a perfect location to visit Trogir then walk to the marina. The entire property was beautiful and clean and the restaurant on site was perfect for dinner and drinks.

Quaint, beautiful, must state property

I loved this place! I will definitely make this a stop whenever I am in Croatia. It was my favorite place of all those we stayed in on this trip. It was beautifully appointed, small so not over-run with guests, and although quiet and safe, it was also right in the middle of the action. Right on the water, next to an amazing fort, and a maze of quaint shops and restaurants just outside the door, this is beautiful small property with all the amenities! Absolutely recommend it!

We did not expect a 4 star hotel not to have a lift. Walking up to the third floor was not easy. The breakfast was very limited with no vegetable cooked it otherwise in sight and a below par cheese offering.
To finish it off I paid for parking at the hotel which gave me all of 20 minutes to run through (with luggage) the old City and over the bridge to car and move it out if the parking . All in all, not a great experience.
