Great location and a fantastic building, we asked for a high floor quiet room and that is exactly what we were given. Room was large, well equipped, yes room decor a little dated but that adds to the charm of this hotel. Breakfast was very good, great selection. Could not fault the Staff who were very helpful and friendly
Room was spotless and kept at a good temperature, great to come back to after a winter walk around Riga

Over all stay at the Monica was excellent. Staff are very attentive and welcoming. The room my wife and I had was spacious and over looked the park. Traffic could be a little noisy at times but that's us being picky, you are in a city after all. Breakfast is of good quality with plenty to choose from. Hotel is only 16 minute walk to Riga old town and about 30 minutes to the train station. It always feels like in Riga you're only ever 20 minutes or so walk away from anywhere you need to be. Stayed 6 nights at the hotel and so glad we did. It just so happened the week we had booked included Latvia's day of independence (18th November) so lots of events on the run up to and on the day it's self. What an experience. Would we go back to Riga - in a heart beat. Would we go back the the Monica hotel - absolutely we would.

Just passing through

Just passing thru Riga as part of a larger trip in Finland and the Baltics. Loved the hotel on the edge of Art Nouveau district. - I had a spacious, well appointed bedroom, main room, and 5-piece bathroom with double sinks. The lobby and breakfast room staff were courteous and competent.

На сегодняшний день не тянет на 4*.
Уставший кавролин, недовольная жизнью работница на ресепшене.
Отопление на самом минимуме.
В комнате приходится находиться в теплом свитере. И это на улице около 0, как там останавливаться при -10 и выше непонятно.
Если любите тепло, как я, вам точно не сюда.
Единственное, что порадовало, хороший завтрак и дружелюбный персонал ресторана.

It's a fine hotel, friendly and very helpful staff, small but quite varied and nice breakfast, with a local twist. The only downside was the bed - I found the bed too low and the mattress too hard, and the pillows too thin, and half a blanket too small. I know it's probably healthy for you and everything but one of the reasons I love sleeping in hotels is soft, plush, over the top bed. This wasn't it. I slept fine, just wasn't the luxury soft bed experience I'd expect from a hotel.

5 night stay at Riga

The service was very welcoming and friendly. The location of the hotel is excellent, in the art noveau quarter of Riga and within a short walking distance from all the main sights. The hotel building and public areas are beautiful and in a very good condition. The room was slightly outdated and based on that I would characterize this as a 3 star hotel. Overall I had a very nice stay at Monika Centrum Hotels and am happy to recommend it.

Cons : Room was located at the last floor and it had 2 huge skylights in the roof with no blinders. In the morning the light coming through was unbearable and the sleep on wards was not great.

Used the kettle to make a green tea when we arrived. Unfortunately we had only one satchel which was not replaced the following day.

Great overall - location, breakfast, WiFi, comfy bed, bar for tasty evening food (restaurant isn’t open in the evening but serves their food to the bar), great massages. The Airport collection car I booked with the hotel was an S class Mercedes for ~€5 more than a normal taxi.

The irritation - they have a sauna but failed 3 days in a row to have it ready for the booked time, so a 30 minute delay whilst it heated up. Mistakes happen but the repeating basic error and the attitude was the problem: first a ‘sorry it won’t happen again’ - fine - second a couldn’t-care-less attitude ‘it’ll be ready in 25 mins’ (so only 5 min before a booked massage) and the last day with reasoning they’d been busy with external meetings in the hotel). I’d seen those meetings - a couple of rooms with ~1-2 dozen people). Not good that staff can’t take the 60 seconds needed to go to the sauna and turn it on, having had 4+ hours of advanced notice

Hotel is about 15 minutes walk to the old town but right next to the Art Noveau district. It's a great location and very safe and walkable.

The room was very large and on the whole comfortable but the air-con isn't very powerful so room was very warm.

There's a reasonable price bar and a garden out front.

Breakfast was fresh and varied.

We had a strange room with only a net curtain on the window so it was very bright early in the morning. Only small negatives. Otherwise a great ecperience.

The Hotel is situated in the embassy quarter with numerous restaurants nearby. Try out the Flying Frog. The hotel is roomy with very helpful staff and free breakfast. Thoroughly deserves it's 4 stars. The old town is about 1km walk through the park

This hotel is ideal for those who like to see the sights by walking everywhere and discovering the hidden little gems Riga has to offer. The staff are first class and you will be spoiled for choice for breakfast. Beds are comfortable and if you can get room 201, for one of the deepest baths going.

The receptionist got confused that we had 4 rooms between 7 people, the largest room had a king bed, the others had twin beds. We wanted a bed each therefore just one person in the largest room, which caused confusion, the receptionist wanted to put two people in this larger room in one large bed.

Apart from this, a great stay, great hotel for the money, clean tidy and comfortable.

Great hotel in the center of the city. 15 minutes walk to Old Riga. Beautiful parks right across the street. Safe and quiet. Rooms are large and very modern. The only negative thing we encountered was a magnifying mirror in the bathroom that was mounted at about 7 feet high. I can't imagine who uses it.

Nice hotel in an art nouveau neighborhood

This is a very nice hotel in a quiet, beautiful art nouveau neighborhood. Short walk to the Old Town. Our junior suite was very spacious and clean. Very nice breakfast. The only negative is the front desk staff. They handle the every day issues well but do not have any training to handle the unusual events. My wife fell down in the barhroom, got hurt and needed to see the doctor. There was a private clinic less than 10 minute walk from the hotel. The front desk staff was not aware of its existence and sent us to a hospital that was very much below standard. An employee of the hospital directed us to the private clinic where my wife's wound was quickly and efficiently handled. To make things even worse, the front desk staff never followed up to check on my wife. They simply did not care. This is a very nice hotel. It deserves better front desk staff.

it is a nice hotel in a great location but the internet is horrible, cutting in and out. if there is a person in the room above you then you have to put up with them walking like an elephant or if they have kids, they are running like it is a play ground. i have no idea why people do not care that there are people in rooms below them.

Average Hotel, Great Location

I'm a firm believer of value for money so when you don't pay a lot you can't expect a lot, however, for the cost of a night in this hotel I was expecting more. The location of the hotel was great, a few minutes to the beautiful Old Town and right on the park front gave for a pleasant and convenient surrounding. The front of the hotel had a certain Eastern block charm and the hotel reception staff provided a relatively swift check in and check out service (minus any charm).

The main issue, however, was the room we were given. As we walked in, we were faced with a rather bland room with low ceilings no windows [at first]. It wasn't until we walked into the room that I realised we'd probably been put into a converted loft where natural light came from a skylight. Not ideal considering I'd booked a park side hotel at £90 a night. The decor was perhaps more suitable for the 1990s, as was the TV, but perhaps this is Latvian style(?), but regardless, it was dated. Bathroom was adequate.

We asked to be moved to a room with windows we could see out of but were informed the hotel was full.

Overall, i'd say this was an average stay but I wouldn't come back.

This Hotel has a great location for a short Bimble into the old Town Centre. Many amenities near by with a 7/11 across the street, Hotel is very Clean as is the whole of Riga, Although I wouldn't rate it as 4 star in English terms, more like a good 3* as there is no tea/coffee drinks making facilities in the rooms. although there is a full bar in the fridge, Iron & Ironing board on request. There isn't Dressing gowns or slippers either, Beds are very comfortable, there is free air conditioning and digital large safe in the room. Breakfast Buffet is a nightmare!! fabulous food of great quality and plentiful variety..BUT there seems to be no management so continuously running out of Plates, Foods even to the point of No bread for Toast one day, this didn't matter what time you attended. The staff could do better if someone monitored the replenishment of foods continually, instead of removing empty plates as if you didn't ask for the foods to be replenished it didn't happen! The availability of small jugs of milk would also be a bonus for those (English) who like cold milk with their tea and coffee as non was available.

Highly recommended, high quality, hotel

We paid a bit more than usual to upgrade from a double room to a junior suite, and it was worth every penny/euro. Large, light, airy, meticulously clean, comfortable room with balcony, overlooking the park opposite the hotel - a wonderfully relaxing sanctuary to return to after each day's exploration. Reception staff were knowledgeable and patient, especially when explaining the intricacies of the local and regional transport systems to us! Lobby bar and outside terrace were perfect locations for a restful nightcap, and the bar prices were very reasonable. Short and pleasant walk past various embassies and through attractive parkland to get from the hotel to the centre of the Old Town - highly recommended.

Relaxing hotel in an intriguing area

Lovely hotel, nice rooms, helpful staff and excellent breakfast! Very clean, nice decor. It is in the Art Nouveau area, which us definitely worth a look, and about 10 minutes walk from the Old Town through the park alongside the river that borders the city. Take a town walk with a guide - we went on a free walk, for which we tipped well - for Riga's interesting history. Lovely people as well. We loved it.

Great hotel , our second stay

This was for my girlfriend and I our second stay at this hotel and it was just as amazing. We chose to come back to the same hotel as we were so impressed the last time. The hotel is situated opposite the park , very close to the old town centre. The rooms are large and spacious , the beds so comfortable and the breakfast in the morning is brilliant. Me and my girlfriend really enjoyed the free sauna. The staff are absolutely amazing and so helpful. I would certainly highly recommend a stay here :-)

Loved our stay! Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a junior suite for 4 of us which had a double bed plus two cots for my teen girls. There was plenty of room for us. High ceilings made it feel very spacious. Very clean. Fresh towels everyday. Wi-fi worked great. The sauna and fitness area were being renovated during our stay. My husband would've enjoyed a sauna but other than that, I don't have any negatives. The location is a bit far from Old Riga but we're a young family so walking all day wasn't an issue. Being in the Art Nouveau district was amazing. We enjoyed just walking around the streets in the evening looking at all the buildings. The park across the street is lovely. The two meals we had from the restaurant were very tasty with perfect portions. Breakfast was delicious and fresh. There is a grocery store just half a block away to get snacks and drinks.

A hotel that gives you the feel of real Latvia

Set just a few minutes walk from the old town, museums and right next door to some of the best architectural heritage in Riga, this lovely old, very comfortable hotel was superb. Huge room overlooking the park, quiet, with lovely restaurant meals (very good quality and reasonable price). Nothing plastic or franchised about this place, what a relief!

Haven of comfort after a dreadful journey

The hotel is opposite a pleasant park with Oak Trees growing outside. It is in an up-market neighbourhood but only 20 minutes walk from the old town. Our rooms were very comfortable and amongst the largest rooms we have had at hotels in major cities. Each of our rooms had a balcony. They were kept very clean and the mini-bar regularly re-stocked. Wi-fi and airconditionning worked.There was an extremely good buffet breakfast with plenty of choice.At weekends breakfast goes on until 11am which is a plus.We sampled both a meal and driks from the bar and were pleased to have done so. The staff were very helpful, chasing up the airport about our luggage which had been mislaid.
The hotel certainly deserves its 4 star rating.

Position for walking to old town excellent

Lovely hotel and a nice walk into Old town which was pretty with lots to see. Food at all restaurants was good and reasonably priced. Hotel staff and locals were friendly and helpful I would definitely visit again.

Short and comfort stay

This was not my first time and we were stying only one night here. Hotel is nice and cozy. The only problem was very slow internet connection. Breakfast was ok.We got access to sauna after midnight which was very nice from staff of the hotel.

Very good experience

Hotel is in an excellent location in the Art Nouveau district and its exterior is a lovely example of that style of architecture. The breakfast buffet was copious and delicious. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Our room size was good if a bit cozy but we appreciated the large windows and the light. This is definitely an hotel I would consider staying in again.

First Visit to Riga

This was our first trip to Riga and we spent four very pleasant nights at the Monika Centrum at the end of August. Our suite was spacious, nicely furnished and quite comfortable with a bright, clean bathroom and top quality bath linens. The staff was most friendly, helpful and accomodating to meet our needs and wants. A breakfast buffet was included offering everything that one could want, served in a very pleasant dining room. The location was perfect, just a few minutes walk through the park to the old city. A number of good restaurants are nearby, so that we never took advantage of the hotel restaurant. Overall, our stay here was highly enjoyable and we would not hesitate to recommend it to others---in fact, we are already planning a return visit the next year.

An excellent 4* hotel

The location is perfect - in a quiet exclusive neighborhood overlooking a park. 10-15 min of pleasant park walk to all places. Multilingual staff eager to help. We were lucky to get a very large double room, I am not sure all rooms are this size. WiFi worked well, good breakfast.

Lovely hotel in a perfect location

My stay at Monika Centrum could not have been better! I was fortunate enough to receive a free upgrade which made for a room with a great view of the nearby park. The breakfast had plenty of options and was a good start to the day. The hotel staff were very helpful in arranging for the airport bus to pick me up at the correct time. When I travel I generally try to stay a little closer to the \"main attractions\", but wanted to stay here because of its vicinity to the park and the art nouveau architecture that I was interested in viewing and I'm so glad I did. The hotel is only a ten minute walk from old town. I would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful hotel

This hotel exceeded every expectation. It's located in a great neighborhood, clean, the room are spacious. I would highly recommend it. We traveled with 2 little kids, and there is a park and a playground right next to the hotel, which was great.

Very good hotel with excellent breakfast.

We really enjoyed our stay here, lovely large room with sofa and chairs although a little disappointing that it only had velux windows as we were on the top floor and could not see any view. Staff very pleasant and helpful. A very good choice on the breakfast buffet. Hotel is on airport express route so we were dropped outside the hotel and collected from there on the way back to the airport - excellent service for 5 euros per person each way and helpful drivers.
Hotel 10-15 minutes away from the old town lovely walk across 2 parks and along the canal.
We ate the 3 nights we were there at the Frying Frog - same street just further along; excellent, really good value food and friendly service.

In all a very enjoyable city break.
