Very difficult to find, not listed on Google maps under this name and front desk seemed unable to give any directions! The room was not clean especially the floor. The shower was literally just a trickle, you could barely get wet and I had to find a salon to wash my hair, and the bed was like sleeping on bags of concrete. They did NOT provide water for the room and when we asked they told us they ran out. There were not kayaks for rent as stated and no amenities were provided at all. Everything they promised in the advertisement was a lie. After 3 days of no sleep we ended our vacation early. We had to pay to change our flights so we are going to request a refund. I highly recommend you STAY AWAY!

Decent place, but out of the way

I would not stay here again, but it's not because it's a bad place. We took an Uber from the Guadalaraja airport, which is around a 40 minute drive. Unfortunately, Uber doesn't have this place correctly mapped. Which meant the Uber driver had to stop and ask about 6 different people how to get here. Which cost us more money since it took an additional 30 minutes to find the hotel. There is a sign on the left side of the road that says La Riberena, that's the ONLY way you'll find it if you've never been here. Or, in Google Maps, enter \"Finca La Riberena\". That takes you right to it. It's actually a former residence, and is nestled amongst other residences, right on the lake. It's also very out of the way, and there are very few restaurants within walking distance. When we finally found the hotel at 7pm, we were hungry but there were no Ubers or taxis available. Fortunately, the clerk that checked us in gave us a menu of a place that delivered. The hotel has tables and chairs, but didn't show any sign of offering food. The grounds are well taken care of. The room itself (#9) was upstairs on the corner, so we had a great view of the lake. The room was clean, the bathroom could have been better. Wifi was really good, so we were able to watch Netflix. We took a bus to Chapala, 9 pesos (50 cents). Next time we'll stay in Chapala, just because there is so much more within walking distance.

That is a nice a comfortable place, good clean room, our room had small kitchen. Secure, quiet, parking for a car on premises.
Cons: for $114/night hot water was barely running from the shower head. No breakfast included.

Our room was dirty with mold in the bathroom. The shower didn’t work. The sink didn’t drain. We were very cold in the night as the room is not heated. The manager offered us another room the next day. We just wanted to leave and we
Did. The manager said that he would give us a full refund of our deposit..$570.00. We have yet to see it. Contact with the manager is poor as he is unavailable and claims that he doesn’t speak English. I am disputing the charge with Visa. Beware...stay away. Alan Mendelssohn.

Excelente atención, camas súper cómodas, ofrecen desayuno a precio accesible. En general el hotel es limpio excepto la alberca, ya que está muy sucia Se puede apreciar una capa de aceites, bichos muerto y lo peor moho en las paredes de la alberca dando la impresión de que no se había limpiado en algún tiempo; obviamente no pudimos disfrutar la alberca como queríamos.

Would rate an 8 if floors and corners were clean

The lake view is nice. The grounds are nice. The apartment-like room is big. Nice hot shower and plumbing worked good. Front desk person was nice and helpful. The room was NOT clean (I wiped the stairs and floors down the first day--ended up with a very dirty towel.) We had to buy a no-stick pan, cutting board, sharp knife. We bought our own coffee. If you stay more than a few days arrange room cleaning with front desk person, as it won't happen automatically between 9 and noon, like you may be used to.

I stayed in the villa without the lake view. Villa has a living room and kitchen downstairs, and bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Very clean with great wifi service. Property is lakefront and kayaks are available to use included with the price. Has a nice hangout terrace with large TV next to the pool. I stayed during a weekday so only 4 rooms (out of 9) were occupied. Very quiet neighborhood. Property is extremely secure. Downside was the parking. Extremely tight spot. The car gate entrance has to be opened manually by you. Oxxo store about 4 min walk but very dark after the sun goes down.

The property is beautiful! My only complaints are that it is a long walk to town from the location. Although there are busses and taxis available.

Also there seemed to be a lack of room supplies such as hair conditioner, coffee, tissue paper. The staff did however make us a pot of coffee outside on the patio.

Not so clean, no food, beautiful setting!

The place is nice enough if you get a room with a kitchen. It is far away from the action and food. Spent a lot of money for taxi sometimes took the bus.Cobble stone road with no lights was too difficult to navigate at night. The room and bathroom were nice. However, the curtains were dirty. The bedding was old and had hair on it. And, the bed was hard as a rock. The bathroom was very roomy and nice and the shower worked well. The pool didn’t look clean enough to swim. The lake view and setting is excellent. The ad online said that breakfast was available for $6 dollars, but there was no food and sometimes no coffee for our room. Also, my room didn’t lock. The service people were very helpful and make it ok.

Place is a little far from town center and far from public transportation, but is good value for your money, i loved the setup of the unit, with everything you need, including 2 full baths, the hotel is not that big and it looked like we were the only people staying in the property, we got the town home unit good for a cuple with kids, the pool was ok, there was a playground for small kids, no food at the hotel, if you want to eat you need to drive a couple blocks from hotel, i really like the place, i will come back again in the near future

Quiet and basic

This property is small and very quiet, a sharp contrast to the last place we stayed in the area. We may have been the only guests the first night of our stay. Our room was very basic, fairly clean, with new bathroom fixtures. We did have to take the coffee maker into the bathroom and use an extension cord we had brought in order to plug it in. Housekeeping just rinsed our used cups in the bathroom sink. I know this only because they were left next to the sink on one occasion. There is a nice area with several tables and chairs and a large stainless steel grill as well as a tiny (3 stools) bar area. We never saw any activity there. The parking is quite tight, tiny cars only. The gate is manually operated and most of the time there was someone there to help with that. There is plenty of outdoor space, a pool and play area, as well as an up-close view of Lake Chapala. The wireless internet was good, the TV reception fair. Overall, a budget-friendly 'base of operations'.

Beautiful location! My wife & I truly did enjoy it & recommend it! Great little swimming pool! Attractive furnishings! The 24 hour staff persons were great! However housekeeping was a bit lax, and we had to ask front desk for things which should have been taken care of by housekeeping personnel. Sometimes they would forget to replace toilet paper or something. One day when we particularly requested room service we did not receive it. Only one set of keys is available per room.

Very Nice Hotel

Nicely upgraded, modern rooms and suites offer quiet and peaceful sleep. The infinity pool is a pleasant way to relax and lounge chairs offer a view of Lake Chapala and some beautiful sunsets. Ten minute walk up the hill to the main road, buses and an Italian restaurant. Two miles outside of Ajijic so somewhat remote.

This place really is a hidden gem! I loved my 2 story, 1 bedroom villa, It is off the beaten path, and quiet, but there are restaurants within walking distance, and the bus stops right up the hill. I had a blast on the kayak, and the staff are so nice, and go out of their way to make sure you have what you need. Thanks Jose and Alberto!

Hidden and quiet place by the lake

Low-key place hidden from Ajijic perfect to relax by the pool, get some sun and go kayaking in the calm waters of the lake. Single kayaks available/ included. No restaurant or bar at The Ribereña. Plan accordingly and take drinks and snacks. Overall the room was spacious and clean. A few seafood restaurants nearby, 5 minute drive.

OUTSTANDING !!!!!

If you are looking for a quaint quite hotel outside the main city of Ajijic this is the place! La Ribereña is not a Hyatt Regency and does not have all the amnesties the larger hotels offer, however I was not looking for that. I wanted something clean quiet and away from major tourist locations and La Ribereña provided this in abundance. Room service did not provide additional bottled water each day, which we worked around as we purchased bottled water from the corner market. This Outstanding hotel is located two miles from the main Plaza in down town Ajijic an easy walk any time of day. Hotel has a courteous hard working staff that strives to provide as needed. Five Stars Great hotel!!!!!

Security issue we experienced.

Scary last night ..This is what happened. We arrive back at the hotel around 6pm? My husband stops by the reception to \"chat\" with the night attendant (attendant speaks a little English). When husband gets back to room, he tells me that attendant had lost 200 pesos that his boss gave him and felt like the attendant was hinting at us giving him the money. A short time later, our room phone rings. It's the attendant and he asks my husband for 200 pesos. My husband tells him, \"that's not cool\" and hangs up. Alarm bells start to ring in our heads. I run to the window and I can see and hear the attendant on the phone. He then leaves the hotel. We're extremely concerned ... is the attendant coming with buddies? or maybe worse? Understand, we are the ONLY people at this hotel. I want to get the hell out of there .. we pack our bags, take the keys to the reception, and call for a taxi. We find out taxis don't run at 8pm! Miraculously, the room beside ours has been left unlocked. We bunk down there. A while later, the attendant walks by our window. He then goes back down to reception and phones our \"old\" room. He then comes up to the old room, bangs on the door, and then enters. When he leaves, he slams the door shut and mutters something out loud (cursing, I'm sure). He heads back to reception, turns off lights, and only in the morning did I realize he had left. No sleep was had that night. Pre-arranged taxi came at 5am and took us to airport.

This hotel was a bit off the beaten path and was hard to find for us - the address wouldn't pull up on our GPS and there were no signs off the hi way. Look for the cactus vivero sign and turn there. When you arrive, ring the bell for entrance. This property is safe and secure.
Our room was clean, the bathroom spacious and the linens nice. The pool needed some help but it was too cool to swim so we didn't mind.
The location on the lake was really pretty. We had room 9 and had a terrific view.
The staff was helpful - no English spoken but they seem to understand.
Now for my complaint: the mattress was awful. Awful!

Nos fue pésimo. Llegamos y la habitación estaba llena de moscos, tuvimos nosotros que poner mata moscos y quedo el piso lleno de moscos, otro día no nos arreglaron el cuarto que por la pandemia no podían entrar a la habitación hasta las 24 horas. y como 1.30 que le dije al que estaba en la recepción que era todólogo porque era el único empleado que había y una recamarera que vi y no volví a ver, el me dijo no se la arreglaron? déjeme ver yo pienso la recamarera a esa hora ya se había ido porque nunca fue nadie a arreglarla .
Solo había un empleado que era el que abría la puerta porque era un portón , el era el recepcionista, el que te ayudaba con las maletas, el que limpiaba la alberca, etc. Cuando llegamos si me llamo la atención no ver a nadíe más y le pregunte que si era el unico empleado y me dijo que si.
El día que no me arreglaron la habitación le dije que quería hablar con el encargado y el domingo que salímos estaba otra persona me supongo que el encargado y le dije que nos había ido muy mal, y me respondió que ya le habían comentado y que si no me habían dicho al llegar que por la pandemia no arreglan las habitaciones y solo hay un empleado a lo que le respondí que era ilógico que tuviera el hotel LLENO habiendo pandemia y solo un empleado.
Lo peor es que en la noche te dan una llave y tu llegas y abres, es una calle muy sola y lo peor es que en la noche no hay una sola persona a cargo del hotel, solo estamos los huéspedes.
Nos fue pesimo no volveriamos.

El lugar está muy bonito y bien ubicado. Y el personal súper amable. Sin embargo por el precio que pagamos esperaba el cuarto en mejores condiciones y mucho mas limpio. Además mi reservación decía que era un cuarto con una cama king size y un sofá cama y me dieron un cuarto más pequeño solo con la cama king size. En general está bien, solo cuidar esos detalles de la limpieza y revisar bien las reservaciones.

Excelente lugar, dirijanse a buscar el hotel en google, porque el link de la dirección de la página de hotels te manda a otra calle con el mismo nombre (verifiquen la colonia). El agua de la alberca estaba muy fría, no pudimos entrar.

En general todo bien, lo único es que al llegar nadie abría la puerta y al tratar de hablar por teléfono al hotel este no servía. Las habitaciones muy amplias y en muy buen estado al igual que el resto de las instalaciones del hotel .
