Had a great experience at hotel Vermont. Room was clean with nice amenities. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is great, surrounded by shops and restaurants and 2 blocks from the beach and 4 blocks from the lagoon. Definitely recommend and will stay here again next time I visit Rio.

Overall, a solid 3-star hotel located in an excellent location. I can't really think of anything to complain about, since everything was as promised and consistent with a 3-star hotel. Do not expect 5-star accommodations at a 3-star hotel; you will be very happy with Hotel Vermont.

The stafff was very friendly and helpful all the time. The room was very clean. Perfect for couples. To get into the shower might be a problem if you’re a bigger person. My friends had trouble on a cruise so I try to notice that more breakfast was very nice with lots of options. Fruit, breakfast meat, tons of drinks and pastries . Would definitely come back for location and the great time we had.

The room is small, and the AC can’t be used continuously because removing the key cuts the electricity and turns everything off, including the AC. So whenever I returned, the room was very hot.

The hotel is located in a fun area good for the beach lovers and the ambiance is not at all business friendly. Some of the staff speak English a little bit and it is quite difficult to communicate with most of them at the reception or in the restaurant for Breakfast. Also the breakfast, though with a large variety of dishes on display is not good as most of the hot dishes are not freshly cooked and I think are recycled over and over again. The same applies to pastries and croissants etc.
For my departure to the airport on Sunday morning, the hotel arranged for a Taxi which was I think illegal and was trying to cheat me on the price and payment.

What is ridiculous is that everybody in the neatby apartment on the hill can see straight through the huge bathroom window when you're taking a shower, and there is no way to prevent it
What is worse is that you may not even pay attention to that fact so that women can essentially be molested visually without even knowing it
Normally, Peeking through a window at somebody who is unclothe would be a very serios crime; this hotel encourages it -- there is no warning or way for people to know, if they're not paying attention, or at night, that they are being viewed in the nude at leisure by anybody standing near their window in those apartments above.

Maid stole $200 from my wallet. The staff wasn't helpful at all dealing with this. Instead of helping me they suggested my girlfriend is a prostitute and she probably stole it.

Front-desk (Eliabe) and porter (Rafael & crew) services were above expectation. Free buffet breakfast had all the desired items: bread, cereal, cheese, egg, meat, milk (no 2%-fat) and juice choices. The hotel, 2.5 blocks to the beautiful Ipanema beach, offers free carry-out beach towels. It’s located in Visconde de Piraja, where bakery, coffee/tea/wine, clothing, electronic shops abound. So many restaurant choices (Baked Paderia for coffee/pastry, Spettacolo Grill for lunch/dinner). One/two currency exchanges in the area.

It’s quite noisy. I was able to hear my neighbours, door banging in the middle of the night and chattering the corridor. I think the wooden doors are part of this noise issue as they let the sound through.

I am a frequent, older, solo traveler. This was country #55 for me, so I have had a lot of experience with foreign accommodations.
I found the Vermont to be basic, but spotless, well-maintained, and having most of the virtues I look for when traveling. I am a heavy WiFi user for work. WiFi was fast, if not super speedy, and varied in speed while on it. But I was able to accomplish my work with two VPN's to the U.S. My solo room was lacking a dresser, but had a large closet with a couple of small, simple drawers. Removable hangers. There is a good sized safe. An ample workspace. A mini Fridge was ample enough to store my own food and drink (big supermarket on the corner of the block) The AC worked well, though blew a bit of a draft onto the bed. Bathroom was modern and useful, if small. Powerful hair dryer (for drying my wet clothes, not bald head!) Outstanding daily maid service from Maria. Exceptional breakfast, with a wide range of foods, including local fruits, as well as traditional eggs/bacon/potato/granola/yogurt fare. The location is in the heart of Ipanema. Blocks from the center of the gorgeous, sugar-sanded, famous beach. Restaurants and shops abound. I never felt unsafe. Desk staff friendly and efficient, with a doorman or two always on the lookout for guests arriving and departing. Most spoke functional English. There is a small, but useful gym with a full range of dumbbells, a solid weight bench, elliptical, stationary bike. No pool, but...the beach!
I found the Vermont to be basic, but spotless, well-maintained, and having most of the virtues I look for when traveling. I am a heavy WiFi user for work. WiFi was fast, if not super speedy, and varied in speed while on it. But I was able to accomplish my work with two VPN's to the U.S. My solo room was lacking a dresser, but had a large closet with a couple of small, simple drawers. Removable hangers. There is a good sized safe. An ample workspace. A mini Fridge was ample enough to store my own food and drink (big supermarket on the corner of the block) The AC worked well, though blew a bit of a draft onto the bed. Bathroom was modern and useful, if small. Powerful hair dryer (for drying my wet clothes, not bald head!) Outstanding daily maid service from Maria. Exceptional breakfast, with a wide range of foods, including local fruits, as well as traditional eggs/bacon/potato/granola/yogurt fare. The location is in the heart of Ipanema. Blocks from the center of the gorgeous, sugar-sanded, famous beach. Restaurants and shops abound. I never felt unsafe. Desk staff friendly and efficient, with a doorman or two always on the lookout for guests arriving and departing. Most spoke functional English. There is a small, but useful gym with a full range of dumbbells, a solid weight bench, elliptical, stationary bike. No pool, but...the beach!
