We love holiday inn’s!! This one was no different!! Great location, wonderful staff, helpful, beautiful outdoor seating. This will be the place that we will stay when we return. The pool is a little small but was never uncomfortable. The staff was great helpful with getting around. Gave good recommendations and very friendly. Breakfast was good, some type of egg everyday, they rotated bacon,portageese sausage, turkey sausage and chicken sausage for protein, they had veggies ,oatmeal ,cereal, toast every day. Great open seating in the lobby.Good water pressure and hot water. Comfortable beds. Not a long walk to the beach. We walked everywhere. Will stay there again and recommend to everyone I know.

Although small, the room was clean. The bathroom was very small and had no ventilation. The parking price is insane — $50 per night. There is free street parking a couple of blocks away, or 2-hour paid parking if you are lucky enough to find an available spot. Breakfast was very good with plenty of different food options. It was very well organized so you don’t need to wait in a queue regardless of how many people are there.
The staff were great. I forgot my quite expensive watch in the room and only found out about it when I arrived home. I called lost & found and they told me that they had it and could ship it right away. They took my credit card info and everything was perfectly fine.
Thank you for being such honest people!

Excellent location, clean facility and friendly and hardworking staff. Good breakfast. Air conditioner was very loud and it's very hard to sleep. If we open the windows then the outside was also loud so no good options here. Amenities weren't useful or needed, wish it was optional to pay Amenitie fee but of course it wasn't. We basically paid the fee for nothing we needed.

May 2026 - sadly noticed a decline from our previous stay in Jan 2024.

BREAKFAST
Breakfast buffet included; good selection but the food quality seemed diminished from previous stay.

PARKING
Parking is $50US/night. The spaces accommodate mainly compact/midsized cars. If you have a large vehicle, parking will be extremely tight. Options: park on the street for free; be aware of towaway zones and restricted parking. Or park a few blocks away in public parkade for $20US/night.

PETS
This is a pet-friendly hotel with certain rooms reserved for pets. On our 4th night a family with a large Rottweiler moved in the unit above us. The dog did not stop barking and we were moved to the other tower*.

MAINTENANCE
The AC did not work in our first room for 2 days before they replaced it*. In our second room the remote for ceiling fan was missing and not operating*. They had to remove the ceiling fan to program a new remote.

CUSTOMER SERVICE
Front staff range from CS savvy, to seemingly uncaring and unhappy . We requested a form of compensation for the above inconveniences***; the manager reluctantly offered and comp'd us one day's admin fee.

ROOM SERVICE
The cleaning staff is excellent.

POOL
Pool is small but nice. It has mini putt, shuffleboard, & giant chess board.

LOCATION & RATES
The hotel is a few blocks from Kalakaua, the main street. But its a fun walk to Waikiki Beach! The rates are good compared to oceanfront hotels.

Views were good, pretty good location, breakfast was okay, my room was small but functional. the worst experience I had was with the elevators. one was out of service the wait was terrible. I had to wait sometimes between 20-30 mins to get on an elevator. This part of my trip put a little damper on it as other travelers staying at other hotels had to wait for me and I almost missed an excursion. Overall good hotel but wish i stayed on the other side of the hotel to avoid this issue.

Rooms are very small. I have scabs from the drawers. Burley and room to walk in the room. We wereobing sideways. There is no lock or the bathroom door. And it's very tiny. Only good thing about it it's a breakfast. Either than that the rooms suck

As far as breakfast, you do need to go either early or later on in the breakfast time in order to avoid the breakfast crowds as far as the elevators in the morning, it does take time to go down, which makes it inconvenient for gas as we’re all trying to go down at the same time and it took us about 30 minutes to get from the top floor to the first floor some days of our stay!

Room was nice but bathrooms a bit dated. Elevators are slow. In addition to being slow sometimes had to wait a couple of times before space to get on to elevator. It has a nice fitness room Pool area and pool size is on small side. Breakfast has a pretty good variety. Eggs, protein, veggie side and salad, different types of bread including bagels. Yogurt, granola, cereal and banana's and oranges. Eggs over cooked for my liking but i understand why. Internet a bit sketchy but whenever i had a problem the staff would try to help and even connected me with someone from IT. Location is at the beginning of Waikiki area which i actually liked so closer to Ala Moana. Very easy to catch bus from this location as well. We actually took the bus to the airport, so easy. Overall i would recommend this hotel if you don't mind not being on the beach. Good value for price.

However, the room size was quite disappointing, especially when traveling with kids, as it felt very cramped. Our stay at Holiday Inn Express Waikiki was overall pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable, I like that there is a microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker inthe room. Although the pillows were too soft for me. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was a big plus, making it easy to get around. There are Bus stops near the hotel. Complimentary breakfast is also a plus. There were a few minor issues, like one of the elevator is not working and also the ice maker on our floor, but nothing that significantly impacted our stay. With a few improvements, this place could be even better. We would consider staying here again.

We stayed at this property two years ago, which is why we chose to book it again. The breakfast is excellent, but since it’s complimentary, it tends to get very crowded. The front office staff were professional and welcoming, which made our stay more enjoyable. Parking costs $50 per day, which is understandable given that it’s a tourist area. However, one evening we had to drive all the way up and back down because no parking spots were available, which was quite disappointing. After that experience, we decided to park the car by 5:00 PM each day and use Uber to get to restaurants, which worked out much better. Overall nice place and price point.

Included breakfast was also great, nothing beats a hot breakfast option! Could use a bit more variety specially for people staying longer as it got repetitive.

Room was decent, in our specific room there was barely any closet space or storage, or surface to put things on. We had a nightstand and a small table. Used our luggage to put things on when getting ready.

On day 3/6 of our stay the hot tub broke and water was cold.

It was a good stay otherwise. Honestly the staff makes up for everything. Shoutout to Tita Gladys at the front desk!

We enjoyed our stay here and found the location to be very nice and was easy to navigate to the beach and to various bus stops as well. The room was on the smaller side but it was clean, tidy and had everything we needed for our stay. The complimentary breakfast was very busy and had a wide variety of items for most people. As someone with Celiac disease, the options were very limited and repetitive and better fresh fruit options would’ve been great. The elevators also got very busy, especially in the mornings while breakfast was open.

The hotel is clean and well-maintained. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly, the breakfasts were good, and the pool and relaxation area were excellent.

However, we were disappointed that upon check-in we were charged an additional $350 in fees. When we booked the hotel, we paid in full, and there was no clear information about these extra charges.

In addition, parking at the hotel is quite expensive — $370 for 7 nights.

Overall, the stay was nice, but be aware that you may end up paying around $800 extra beyond the original booking price.

View from room is amazing, but that's the only outstanding part of the stay.

Beware if you are renting a car for your holiday - parking at the hotel lot is ~$50usd/day as of April 2026. Maybe the hotel is the loss-leader and the whole operation is a scheme to make margin on parking rents.

The building, like many on the strip, is old. It probably peaked in the 1990's. I counted at least 5 different colors in the chips of paint on the elevator. Speaking of elevators - on a building with 43+ stories, you need more than 2 elevators. A third is offline for something - presumably repairs, but that kind of thing should be prioritized. Waits of 10-12 minutes to go to your room are common.

Pool area floor is disgusting. That kind of surface should be cleaned multiple times daily, yet it's slimy. Why?

Breakfast is warm but generic and uninspired. Missed opportunity.

I think it's clear that ownership is just squeezing every remaining dollar they can before the hotel becomes intolerable. You should consider staying if your priority is price while remaining on the strip.

I came here as a single mom with seven kids ranging from 18 to 7. The breakfast was a huge selling point and amazing. Being downtown and close to the beaches was also wonderful. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable.

Rooms felt kind of small but reminiscent of hotel rooms in Asia. For larger oversized Americans it feels kind of cramp. The beds were comfortable. The buffet was ok but not as good as other holiday inn express in the mainland we have stayed at. But we looked forward to rushing down to get a table each morning before it filled up. The only downsides were that the AC in the room is extremely loud and noisy. If they could get quieter ones it would be perfect. Even though these are old window units the sound seemed to be inside room rather than outside.

This place is best described as a budget motel, similar to a low-cost inn in a less developed neighborhood. The room was extremely small — once the bed was in, there was essentially no remaining space. It felt very cramped and outdated. The air conditioner was positioned in a way that blew directly onto the bed and face, making it uncomfortably cold, and there was a musty smell throughout the room.
The staff appeared friendly, but the service was lacking in basic ways. For example, we were told to go down to the first floor to use the only bottle opener, and when we requested two basic plates, we were given disposable ones, which was quite surprising. In over 15 years of travel and more than 30 hotels, this was the first time I encountered a place that only had one bottle opener for shared use and provided disposable plates.
Breakfast consisted mainly of processed meats such as hot dogs, sausages, and bacon on rotation, so there were no fresh or high-quality protein options available.
The only advantages were its proximity to Waikiki and the ocean view.

The breakfast menu is good for short stay, otherwise you will get bored, staff is helpful and friendly, air conditioner is ok as it was not hot outside, the window was dirty and could not appreciate well the view.
