I wonder which institution determines the number of stars because with regard to this hotel Fletcher Marijke in Bergen, people are quite wrong. The small room was known but a bathroom of very minimal size, no cold shower water, no balcony, no air conditioning or mechanical ventilation in the room, mattresses too soft, parking fee 7.50 per day, no swimming pool, you wonder where it is 4 star rating ? comes from. That will not only be based on the staff and breakfast because that was great !

Our negative note concerns the quality of the service during dinner with eight persons: they forgot the two entree’s, forgot to bring water asked for, bad manners in serving plates. Furthermore the quality of the wine (Labeled Fletcher, grape Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon) was poor and considering the price of around euro 27, was a clear rip off. The retail price -if for sale- would have been maybe three euro’s, I guess. Breakfast is good, ambience we do like.

Really pleasant small hotel just outside the village centre. The hotel consists of a variety of buildings, with the main block supplemented by an annexe on the opposite side of the road which we were in.
It is worth noting, that whilst the main block has a lift, the upper floor in the annexe can only be accessed by a steep staircase.
Rooms are basic, so no facilities to make warm drinks.
Breakfast was excellent, and we were lucky to be able to sit outside in the fine weather.

Great hotel - We'll go back

Great hotel. The breakfast buffet is fresh, delicious and includes Fries suikerbrood. What we sampled from their dinner menu (home smoked salmon and very tender steak) was absolutely superb, so was their wine. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Ideal location. Walking distance (+/- 500 m) from the center of town - Bergen - with its restaurants, shopping area, church ruins, animal park, etc. Close enough to the sea and the dunes by car/bicycle and close to Alkmaar for its cheese market for example.
In the section where our room was located, the wall-to-wall carpet needs replacing and a coffee/tea facility in the room would be a plus. Other than that, we intend to go back.

Lovely area, hotel needs some refurb

Hotel is ok. Its a good quality resturant with good service and in a lovely area. However, parking is €7.50 a day and the hotel is in need of some refurbishment, particularly inside the rooms. The walls are also very thin, so you can hear a lot of our guests. Several coaches of elderly guests were there when I was, and they were not very quiet.

Great find in beautiful Bergen

My room was a bit dated and had no tea making facilities (although my bathroom was spotless which I think is important) but it didn't matter as I found the staff so wonderful and helpful I stayed another night. I had booked to stay at another hotel which was impossible to find so sat in tears at 9.30pm alone in my hirecar I phoned Hotels.com who cancelled that booking and moved it to the hotel Marijke. I arrived straight away, it had off-road parking (a major plus point!) and the staff on duty were so lovely. The next day I think she might have been the head receptionist (short, dark hair), but she made me feel completely at home and was helpful with instructions etc. So much so I decided to stay another night with them and explore the Bergen area. I without doubt would stay at this hotel again. There is a lot to be said for staff who greet you with a smile and conversation when you're travelling alone and it felt very personal:)

old hotel need good weather to make it enjoyable

We traveled with an elderly woman. The room was very dark, dark blue carpet, the chairs were the same color, the walls dark red. The entrance of the room had no lighting and we kept bumping into the chairs. The vieuw from the room was of a small parking lot. Parking was difficult tto small of a space. The beds were too soft and gave the elderly woman a backache. The bathtub had no antislip and had a very high step to get into.
The restaurant was also very dark and food was fair.

The location was good near the center. Breakfast was good

My wife Marijke and I have a combined age of 160 years but we still cycle tour The Netherlands every year. Arriving at your hotel with an online booking we were saddened by the delay in your confirmation of our reservation. Also disappointed by the lack of help in helping us to take luggage up to our room up a very steep staircase.

Sterk verouderd en niet gerenoveerd, oncomfortabel bed, matig schoongemaakt, sterke chloorlucht, zeer gehorig, onvriendelijk personeel. Geen oog dichtgedaan vanwege de herrie met slaande deuren, pratend volk, en mensen die de trap op en af lopen wat doortrilt in het bed!

Foto impliceert verblijf in rustieke villa; in werkelijkheid zijn 3 huizen in de straat bijgekocht en uitgebreid met maximaal aantal kamers; wij zaten in benauwde ongeventileerde zolderkamer met schuine wanden en afgezaagde deur. Ter illustratie; badkamerspiegel wijst onder hoek van 45 graden naar de vloer… gasten roken tijdens ontbijt, elke consumptie direct afrekenen, betaald parkeren, bij te vroeg arriveren schools wachten voordat je sleutel krijgt; niet omdat kamer niet gereed is maar omdat het nog geen 15.00h is. Al enkele malen positief verrast door Fletcher, hier absoluut niet…

Nur der Preis hatte 4 Sterne

Eigentlich hatte ich gedacht ich gehe in ein 4 Sterne Hotelit einer guten Ausstattung aber es kam ganz anders der Preis hatte 4 Sterne aber der Rest hatte eigentlich nur einen Stern verdient leider. Die Heizung war defekt und heizte den ganzen Tag obwohl es schon draußen sehr warm war, das Zimmer war ziemlich schlecht gereinigt ich war von Fletcher Hotel sehr sehr enttäuscht.

Vorhänge nicht vorhanden. Dabei laufen dauernd Leute am Zimmer vorbei und schauen rein. Auf den Hinweis ist nicht reagiert worden. Mussten die dicken Vorhänge immer zu haben. Und schutzig war es auch. Für das Parken kassiert aber dann keinen Platz garantiert. Wer zuerst kommt mahlt zuerst. An sich ein schönes Haus aber zuviele Minuspunkte.

De locatie was top, de buitenkant van het hotel ook en het terras. De rest was oudbollig, karig ontbijt. Kleine kamer met vlekken, de douchevloer was glad, en we hadden iemand met een rollator. Als je slecht ter been bent is het geen goed hotel. De lift werd gerepareerd.

Hotel was booked out. We had a reservation for four people for two nights. When we arrived there was no room available for us. We had to wait almost three hours for a solution. Solution was: We slept in a room with two small beds but were 4 People. NOW: Hotel won’t do any compensation. I paid for two nights in a family room. This is not acceptable.

Uitnodigend hotel, met leuk terras. Personeel zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Klasse! De kamer was netjes. We misten wat haken voor het ophangen van toilettas etc. Mijn onderlaken bleef niet liggen en daardoor rolde het op onder mijn rug en dat lag niet zo heel comfortabel.
Ook douchen in het bad heeft niet onze voorkeur.
De volgende keer dat we komen (dat zijn we dus van plan omdat er veel positief was) zullen we aangeven dat we een douchecabine prefereren. Vriendelijke groet

上品なハイレイヤー層向けの町によく似合う上質なホテル。
ただその割にドライヤーが使えなかったり（ホテルサイドも認識済み）、冷蔵庫やポットと無く、アメニティや設備が弱い。また、朝食の種類が少し少なめ。
それ以外はとても良い。また行きたいです。

De kamer was in 1 vd bijgebouwen. Trap op en een zeer smalle gang door met een schuine wand. In de kamer was het bloedheet, stonk naar oudheid en muffigheid, raam kon niet open omdat door de oudheid het hout was uitgezet. In 1 van de handdoeken zat een groot gat.

Wat een vreselijk hotel, nooit weer.
Bij aankomst bleek dat we niet in het hotel zelf zaten maar in een ‘bijgebouw’. Zag er erg gedateerd uit. Erg gehorig, bovenburen hoorde je lopen en de directe buren naast ons hoesten. Daarnaast een constant tikkende verwarmingsbuis in de kamer. Nauwelijks geslapen. Douche ging van heet naar koud en terug. Helaas erg slecht bevallen, en heel goedkoop was het ook niet.

There was mold at the wall in the wardrobe. I mentioned this to the lady at reception the next day when we left. The woman responsible for the household was also present there. She already knew this problem. Nevertheless, these rooms were rented to us! Luckily we were only there for one night.

Je denkt in een leuk hotel te komen, kom je in een bijgebouw aan de overkant van de weg terecht. Jaren 70 trap. Gangetje in met een schuine kant, zonder raam. 50 cm doorgang denk ik boven. Laag plafont spotjes kapot boven de deur. Warme kamers die je niet kon door laten tochten. 1 hoog zonder balkon met grind onder je raam waar auto's geparkeertstonden. Extra betalen in het hotel om je auto er neer te mogen zetten. Te kleine parkeermogelijkheden. Geen washandjes op de kamer. Geen waterkoker. Zachte bedden.

Wij zaten in t bijgebouw 1e verdieping maar vond het er erg benauwd, krappe gang en geen airco… ook niet op de kamer
Douche heel klein en ouderwets en de vloerbedekking zag er ook niet uit ( vlekken)
Personeel was heel vriendelijk en het ontbijt was goed.

Speisen im Restaurant sehr empfehlenswert. Personal sehr hilfsbereit. Probleme werden umgehend behoben.
Sanitäre Anlage sollten modernisiert werden (Toilette, keine Mischbatterie am Waschbecken und Badewanne). Parkplatz äußerst eng und besteht aus Schottersteinen (verursacht laute Geräusche beim Ausparken).

Wir hatten ein Familienzimmer und waren sehr zufrieden. Allerdings haben wir nur eine Nacht gebucht gehabt um einen Feiertag am Meer zu verbringen und am Abend nicht zurück fahren zu müssen.
Zimmer war groß, Bett war bequem und das Frühstück war ausreichend gut.
Wir würden auf jeden Fall erneut dieses Hotel buchen.
