Good heat in the room. Rooms were clean,there was a mini fridge,safe in the closet,coffee maker with reg and decafe provided. It was a quick walk to and from the trainstation,and a Jumbo grocery store a few blocks away. Several restaurant options close by,as well as many shops. Daily maid service and on site reataurant and fitness facility. I really enjoyed Alkmaar and my stay at Hotel Amranth.

Staff at check in were really friendly and helpful.

The room was nice and bright, basic decoration but fine.
An armchair where you could read would be a nice addition, there’s enough space for one.

The room was surface level clean, but there are marks on the walls, hair on the taps and needed that next level of cleanliness.

The bed and pillows are very comfortable and the room is pretty quiet.
A noisy group came back at 03:30am which woke us up, and wouldn’t be expected in this kind of hotel, and obviously isn’t the hotels fault, but something to be aware of.

Location is good, however the cost of parking is expensive at the hotel, and there are cheaper options nearby.

The reason why I’m giving this hotel a 4/5 stars is because the bed was TERRIBLE. Too soft, two tiny beds put together, they separate while you sleep at night.. it was a horrible experience. No joke I slept 5 hours in that 48h period I was there. Another 24h I would have had to sleep on the floor. Otherwise, The hotel was very decent.

Great location for non-car travelers - easy walk to station and town centre. Breakfast good but expensive and did run out of items as staff could not keep up with volume. Double bed very odd as it was two singles pushed together - the matresses kept moving apart in the night creating a Grand Canyon in the middle.

We really loved our stay at Amrath Hotel in Alkmaar! Our room was comfortable, clean, and quiet, and the area was wonderful. There's a nice park right across the canal that flows in front of the hotel, and the central town area is an easy walk. There we found great restaurants, a picturesque town, all the shopping a person could want, church bells that rang and played beautiful music, and lots of friendly people with their dogs. The hotel was an easy walk from the train station too. We would be happy to stay there again.

The staff is exceptional!!! They worked extremely hard too accommodate my schedule. They wear constantly updating me on availability too book more days!i couldn't have asked for a better staff and cleaning ladies. The hotel was spotless! My only complaint was my room was next too the cleaning supply closet so I could hear everything . i was more than thrilled with my stay at AMRATH and would stay there again as well as recommend it too family and friends!

It is a nice comfortable hotel with good sized rooms. In places some refurbishment is required, for example in the bathroom. Bed comfortable and air con a bonus. Good to have drinks in room and coffee machine but nothing without caffeine.

My wife and I stayed here for 9 nights. They charged us for breakfast twice when we did not eat breakfast a single time there. No apologies for the over charge, still waiting for the refund. We didn’t get a thank you for staying with us, they didn’t ask how our stay was. It was very transactional with them. Not to mention how uncomfortable the beds and pillows were. I saw a sign stating we could ask for a different type of pillow which we did, only to receive the same pillow that looked to belong on a couch rather than a bed. Would not recommend this hotel.

Excellent location - just a short and pleasant walk (5 minutes) over the canal and you are in old town Alkmaar. Very close to the church in the centre of Alkmaar. Excellent daily breakfast with good coffee and a variety of food options to start your day. Excellent basic rooms that have all you need, and are clean. Breakfast staff were somewhat rude one day (apparently there is a discrepancy between the breakfast hours online and the actual breakfast hours) but other staff were warm and friendly. Saffa, the night-time front desk clerk, was extremely helpful on two occasions. Upon checking in later on our first night, we discovered we’d been given the wrong room. The hotel was fully booked, so no changes could be made. As a result, one of us had to sleep on the floor in a makeshift bed created out of comforters and sheets. The next morning, as compensation for this error, we were offered a free bike rental for the day, which we did not think was adequate. Overall, we would recommend Amrath Hotel in Alkmaar as there are not many places to stay, and this one is functional with a great location.

We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room, it was very big. We loved the jacuzzi bath. Staff behind the desk were very helpful and friendly as were housekeeping. The location was ideal and quite beautiful with only a short walk into town. We would definitely like to return here again.

A pleasant surprise

We found a great hotel room waiting for us in Alkmaar, with a fantastic view over the old town and a balcony to enjoy it. The hotel is a bit older, however, well-kept and looked after. Our room, for example, came with a nice seating area as well as outdoor furniture on the balcony.

Overall not a bad place to stay - the location is great, rooms are big and clean and beds are comfy, however, not the most modern decor i'd expect for the room rate. The fact there is parking is a luxury as it is anywhere in Holland but I was very unhappy to discover only on my checking out after 5 days that there is an additional cost for this privilege which I was not informed about on check in. There is a sign (in Dutch) at the gate, which I was expected to understand. Whilst the rate is reasonable, it is not acceptable that I was expected to pay this when I wasn't informed prior and the website did not indicate there was an additional charge either. I asked to speak to a Manager and apparently no-one was around. I think given the room rate parking and breakfast should be included.

This property had no air conditioning - which was necessary because of the hot weather. Rooms were clean, but very tired and needed repainting. The hotel is in a good location. It’s very close to the center and an easy walk to the canals, restaurants, shops and the famous cheese market. The staff were also very friendly.

The room itself was nice. It was very clean and had an amazing bathtub! We also appreciated the small fridge and comfortable beds. The Wi-Fi was also good.

Overall, a good hotel to stay at.

Didn't like - the low lighting in the bathroom - no towel rail (had to use the towel storage rack) - no bedside drawer. Loved the hand soap.

We loved the location. The view of the canal is lovely and the hotel is easy walking distance from the old part of the city. We also very much appreciated the warmth and responsiveness of the staff. The parking situation is the only drawback to this hotel. When the hotel is not fully booked there are sufficient parking spaces but when it is busy there are not enough spaces.

The one thing that let it down was breakfast. On the first morning there was only crumbs of dry scrambled egg left, we were late about 9.45. Then on our last morning there wasn't any and we weren't late that morning!!

Parking is an issue. Hotel had a lot of people with cars when we went. And despite being an Amrath reward card holder, we didn’t get a spot. My friend is 82 years old. We had to find and pay for street parking. Then walk to hotel. It was extremely difficult. After speaking with the manager nothing happened. We like the Amrath chain and often stay at the one in Haarlem. Alkmaar was disappointing because of location to town and how far you have to walk if you can’t walk too long. We made it through other parts of Netherlands, but this was rough. She was so tired from carrying her bag into the hotel she couldn’t do much afterwards.

Unfortunately we could only stay one night, so we did not get much of a chance to explore the city. But the hotel was very modern, check-in was quick and easy, and service was \"uitstekend\" as the Dutch might say. Because it was extraordinarily hot we requested a fan, and one was supplied without difficulty. Only parking was a bit of a problem, but we managed to find a spot on the street, not far from the hotel. Highly recommended, and reasonably priced.

Check-in was a breeze. Secure parking (not free) behind hotel. Room clean, spacious, CNN- even had a clothesline. Breakfast was crowded due to King's day and a bit expensive. Very capable and helpful staff. There was no problem leaving our car in their lot after we checked out while we went to cheese market.

Alkmaar is definitely a must see, when in The Netherlands. This hotel is walking distance from the train station and the Big Church and city centre. The room is huge and comes with a balcony.
The hotel staff is friendly, bar facilities downstairs are good.

first two days were great ---lovely room ---we wanted to stay longer and so had to change rooms which we thought would be fine ---however the room we were given was obviously a smoking room and everything smelled of smoke and old tobacco...we did not unpack as we did not want to have all our cloths dry cleaned.
clean all our cloths. Hotel was full and if it were not for smokers using this room our stay would have been fine.
