The service was excellent the owner was welcoming and friendly. He helped us with our painters and bicycles and offered bike parking which was very important for us. Very friendly & helpful staff.

We enjoyed a complimentary coffee before leaving on our cycle trip to Texel .

A great place to stay in Holland

Staff were friendly , helpful , room beautifully decorated , bed comfortable . Location great right near transport hub , and a good choice of restaurants nearby. Breakfast plentiful ,in the continental style warm rolls croissants light and crispy . We were very happy there .

This is a very convenient small hotel near the train and bus stations and a 20 minute walk to the main town square, though only 10 min to the edge of town.
The rooms are spread around in adjoining houses on three floors with extremely steep stairs (elderly or heavy luggage beware)ask for ground floor if this bothers you.
Rooms are adequate though sparten. Shower room functional and clean though shower door was old and broken (Room 21).
Breakfast is served in the bar/restaurant area and contained a good adequate continental selection included in the price.
Hotel did limited evening meals as did a nearby bar, with several takeaways near, otherwise it is a 10 or 20 minute walk into town (large selection).
Did not get the balcony room as stated on the booking.
Will use the hotel as a base again for its convenience to public transport which we to use to visit northern dutch towns eg. Medenblik, Hoorn and Enkhuasen.

Disappointing as a Hotel for Couples

OK if you are looking for a bed & breakfast adjacent to the train and bus stations but not suitable if you are planning a romantic break in the beautiful town of Alkmaar. Many rooms are in houses next to the coffee bar reception (with front doors on street). First room we were given had terrifying very steep stairs with right angled twist at top. On request moved to a ground floor room after first night. Two problems, scalding shower and missed room clean both fixed on request. Biggest disappointment was lack of restaurant facilities. Advised during check-in that, although no menu, food could be cooked on request. Tried this on second night but told no food available and directed to restaurant in town (10mins walk). Most guests seemed to use Burger King at station but we were looking for something more and there was nothing else in the vicinity (another 'restaurant' along street turned out to be bar only).
In fairness the staff were always friendly and pleasant and acted on our requests promptly, but we felt that the hotel does not live up to the claims of its web site. Its main asset is convenience for the stations.

The hotel and staff were wonderful. Unfortunately, they did not have my reservation from hotels.com...fortunately, they were able to give us a room. I will not use hotels.com for any reservation in the future.

One night in Alkmaar

This was a really cool room in the beautiful town of Alkmaar. Friendly staff spoke English and our room had a balcony and WiFi was readily available. It is located next to the train station and the city has a lot to offer tourists.

No travel cot & lied to about allocated room

Hotel was easy to find and breakfast was good, with friendly staff. However, there were more down-sides to the stay. Arrived to find there was no travel cot (which the hotel claimed was due to Hotels.com not passing this information to them). We had booked the suite (there is only meant to be one at the hotel) and I checked upon arrival this was the case, which the hotel confirmed. The room had nothing to suggest it was a suite and was no different to the room we saw next door to ours (when it was being cleaned the next day). The bed was very noisy and uncomfortable (frisky travellers beware!), not helped by our child sleeping between us whilst trying not to fall down the crack betqween the two twin beds that were supposed to pass for a double. Worth paying more elsewhere for some guarantee of quality. On another point (no fault of the hotel), why does Alkmaar insists on its churches ringing bells every 15 minutes until 3AM???

Everything was great. The room was of ample size for 3 adults. Breakfast was substantial. Really surprised that the room was so quiet considering the proximity to train and bus stations. Won't soon forget the 3 trips to the police station to settle a parking ticket.

Convenient, Friendly, Unusual

Convenient location almost opposite the station. Hotel accommodation is actually mainly in adjacent houses, access via the street. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only inconvenience is that breakfast/reception does not open until 0800 on Saturdays and 0900 on Sundays.

Hotellet ligger virkelig godt i forhold til transport.
Vi købte 3 dages billetter, så vi kunne komme rundt let og på egen hånd til samtlige store seværdigheder.
Hotellets morgenmad er ok, intet særligt, men rart dét kan købes med, så dagen kan starte roligt.
Imødekommende og venligt personale
Billederne af selve hotellet ér shinet op på deres hjemmeside, i forhold til, hvordan dét reelt ser ud, men beliggenhed opvejer for det.
Vi havde en positiv og god oplevelse.

Das Zimmer war sauber. Obwohl das Hotel in der Nähe des Bahnhofs ist, hat man im Zimmer bei geschlossenen Fenstern, nichts gehört und ruhig geschlafen. Das Frühstück war ausreichend und vielfältig.

Ilmastointia ei ollut huoneessa, vaikka se internetin esittelyssä mainittiin. Kylpyhuoneessa ei ollut käsisaippuaa eikä huonetta siivottu vierailumme aikana ollenkaan.
Puhtaita pyyhkeitä tarjottiin ensimmäisen nukutun yön jälkeen, mutta niitä me emme tarvinneet.

Klein maar gezellig hotel met vriendelijk personeel. De ontvangst is in het café/restaurant waarna je naar je kamer wordt gebracht in het naastgelegen pand. Hier is alles keurig schoon en in orde; het leek allemaal wel gloednieuw!

Wir haben die Unterkunft wegen der guten Bewertungen und Bilder gebucht, mussten aber vor Ort feststellen, dass dies nicht ganz der Realität entsprach. Es gibt definitiv Hotels, die sauberer und besser ausgestattet sind.
Das Zimmer wirkte nicht fertig gestellt: es lagen Schrauben und eine Sicherung rum, das Licht im Bad konnte nicht ausgeschaltet werden, die „Küchenzeile“ war nicht fertig gestellt, die Matratzen sind sehr durchgelegen.
Wenn man nur im Hotel zum Schlafen und Duschen ist, ist es in Ordnung, jedoch würden wir es nicht nochmal buchen oder an Freunde empfehlen.

Pluspunkt: Personal ist sehr nett, Parken ist super günstig und es ist sehr zentral.

Heerlijke bedden, mooi opgemaakt.
De douche was vrij klein waardoor het douchegordijn steeds aan je ging vastplakken. Een thermostaatkraan zou ook handig zijn, het was lastig de juiste temperatuur te vinden.
Verder wel een heerlijke straal!

Onze kamer was naast een cafe gelegen. Erg veel overlast gehad van de cafebezoekers maar ook van de hotelgasten die aanwezig waren. Van de twee geboekte nachten 1 nacht helemaal niet geslapen vanwege lawaaioverlast.

就在火車站正對面，對於坐火車的旅客超方便，附近有便宜的付費停車場一天四歐，大約走路10分鐘，開車也算方便。距離起司市集十來分鐘也很方便。老闆娘很熱情，感覺親切，早餐中規中矩的小自助餐台。美中不足的是浴室水量有點小，天冷的時候實在有點冷。床偏軟是那種坐在窗邊會滑下來的程度，個人不太習慣。

Et gammelt bygning, men ikke slidt.
Vi fik et stort værelse med en stor terrase. Men vores badeværelse var ret lille. Sengen var stor, men for blød.
Da radiatoren larmede, slukkede vi for varmen om natten. Det resulterede i, at vi frøs til morgen.
Morgenmaden er ikke noget særligt. Det er dog det helt alminelige på bordet. Mælk, yougurht, boller, to slags ost og skinke. Lidt frugt og to slags musli.
Beligneghed er fin i forhold til byen og togstationen.
Det er stille på hotellet.
Der kom lige et gebyr på 35 euro( lokal skat).

Ligg unna.

Rommet lå i andre etg, og trappen opp var så bratt og trang at vi ikke fikk med bagasjen opp til rommet. Måtte gå til bilen for og hente det mest nødvendige for natten, før vi fant et hotell vi kunne bytte til.
Vi ble bedt om å betale før vi fikk se rommet og plasseringen.
På tross av at rommet lå helt utilgjengelig til nektet hotellet oss å få igjen pengene for de nettene vi ikke bodde der. Ikke noe sted på hotellets sider står det at man må opp bratte trange trapper. Vi føler oss skikkelig lurt, og det at hotellet krever forhåndsbetaling framstår nermest som svindel.
