It was one of the cleanest Hostels, I have been in. I did have a problem twice, with the bathrooms being out of toilet paper. Don't get there to late, the front desk guy, wants to go to his home, to make you feel at home, or let you know much about the property. Toilet seat was broken. Bring your own towel first rule of this hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy! The young girl staff were friendly and helpful! Good place to sleep.

Very central location - only downside is that rooms around the central ventilation shaft hear all the cover stations in the other rooms. The earplugs provided are very welcome.

The breakfast (extra) is substantial. Would chose boiled egg and not scrambled to accompany another time!

The area surrounding was amazing, canals, shopping center, old town area was worth exploring. Late night/early morning returning from Amsterdam there were some questionable people about making it feel unsafe if coming back alone. I parked street side less than 2min walk on an EV charger spot where I just had to pay for charging car and not parking. But the receptionist (at the property cafe) said that there is no need to pay for parking between 2100 and 0900 hours.

They let me check in early but was impossible to checkout after I saw what I had gotten myself into. The Upside was that I had a 9 bunk bed unit all to myself, no windows and just very creepy dark place right by the staff entrance, laundry, and late night guest access which meant no chance of sleep, expect to get the door knocked on late at nights by somebody who has had one too many and doesn't know where to go (in one instance a staff member just barging in assuming room was empty and perhaps going to crash there).
Surrounding area was beautiful to walk to. My reservation was for more than two weeks but I could only bare one night, at this stage I don't even know if I got refunded for anything but it was more confrontable sleeping in the train station the following night until I found something else. Maybe the more expensive units are better but I was not prepared to find out, very terrible costumer service after they had taken my money, spent weeks trying to get some sort of refund back after front desk had promised to refund my credit card in accordance to their policy of 48 hrs notice which meant I would only pay for two nights. after checking out and getting in contact to access the funds the only option they gave me was a gift card to go back to the same place, just a waste, might as well slapped me too.
Just terrible, spend a little more and have a nice time in the lovely area or just sleep in the train station as I promise it will be more comfortable.

Booked a suit for one night in order to visit this beautiful city.
Desk staff were delightful although they did initially give us the key to someone else’s room!
Our suit was large, ornate and spacious but at the end of the building next to the busy main road, there was no A/C so one must choose between noise with windows open or a hot stuffy room. Furthermore, there was no wardrobe, only a curtain between the room and toilet, very dim lighting in the bathroom, faulty lighting above the mirror and thick hard pillows, they also charge for the use of an iron!!

The refrigerator need to be cleaning every week maximum. It is full of old food that people have left there. A lot of food is in the frig with moisture.
You have to find a system to make sure that the food will stay save.

Your refrigerator was really bad.

But the rest of the hostel was clean. The problem is really the refrigerator.

Claustrophobic, dark, dorm room with little air

The property itself is a nice building, centrally located and staff helpful.

However, the shared, 4 bed dorm room I was in, was pretty depression. There was no window or any real natural light or ventilation (apart from a grate in the door).

The room was very stuffy & dark as a result. The beds were very basic too, with a hard plastic mattress.

The shower was also a bit of a dribble at most, which made showering properly tricky & the lack ventilation meant the whole bedroom became humid if someone showered.

The rooms smelled on human odours and sweat as a result of the stuffiness.

It’s pretty claustrophobic room set-up.

Not a fan of this place, but there are very few other places to go in the city for affordable prices.

First solo trip.

The service and the staff were great. I would recommend King's Inn City Hostel to any of my friends that are traveling. It might be a little distance from Amsterdam but it's well worth the trip. And you get the chance to visit the beautiful city of Alkmaar.

I booked on Hotels.com and it said it was 2 x single rooms and when I arrived it was 2 x rooms in an 8 bed dorm!! However the staff, location, cleanliness and everything else was excellent. If you want a good nights rest this is not for you. If you want to party this is for you.

It was cool, I've no real complaints or anything negative to say. I personally felt that it was very authentically european, Their were a few drunks and college kids causing a ruckus around the neighborhood at night, probably because they're close to the red light district, but you can't fault for that. Other then that I still had a pleasant time.

Very Central, but no window in the room

The hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of Alkmaar, the staff is friendly. The room was clean, the bed comfy enough, the shower working.
My room however had no window and only a little fan. Being over 30 degrees outside this felt rather stuffy and claustrophobic. Also very dim lighting and very little natural light.
For €70 a night I'd expect more.
I luckily only stayed for one night, so it was manageable.

Worst mistake ever!!

I stayed in King’s Inn for 4nights. The staff was ok. & I loved the foods. But I really had a bad experiences.i booked a mix dorm hostel room, sharing with8 people & they make me moved to a different dorm after 3days. It was shared with 10people. I paid & choose the 8 people dorm. This is the first time from a hostel that ever asked me to move for a another different room after I arranged everything they make me move to a different places. It was so annoyed to pack all my stuff to another place. & it was very unfair. They would have blocked the room if they know that someone is booked. As per front desk staff, they said it was booked to another group. Then why they keep it as available on the site when I made my booking. I was disappointed. & actually it’s take a very long way if you walk to the main train station by walking.id never go there again or I don’t recommend this for anyone. Specially when you travel solo. I didn’t like the way they treated me.

What a gem!

A great little hostel that has a few private rooms available. Excellent atmosphere in the \"common\" room that is also a bar, restaurant, and hang out. They even have live music and quizzes. If you are staying in Allmaar for a few days and want to meet other travelers or locals, this is a great choice. Very friendly service. The room was a little small, but it's a European hostel, so you should know what to expect. Still very comfortable for a couple, and the location in the city center was great!

Alkmaar and Dutch are the best!

I arrived very very late as I took wrong train from airport and when I arrived at 1 a.m. they bar was hopping with music and dancing. I was told check in was at bar. I told man my name and explained I only had American currency until I could get to bank. They lady in charge said to let me go to bed and I could pay in morning when I exchanged money! My roommates reminded me in morning that today was Sunday and bank was closed. So they went to their Dutch ATM got out money and we traded. Dutch people are kindest in the world! Party in bar latest til ??? There were ear plugs on my pillow. I slept well. Coffee was great. Food in nearby restaurant was terrific. Will be back for sure!

The staff are very nice and friendly and the room was quite clean. However, be aware of the noise. Unfortunately, the walls are extremely thin and we were hearing people talking over the phone, watching TV and even snoring in the next room. Also, the economy rooms have very poor ventilation and no windows and it gets warm at night.
Wifi was also broke for the first night, but that was alright as we had our phone's data to use.

The facilities were nice. The dorm room was dark and muggy. The room smelled of body odour. I think one of the guests was living in the dorm. The beds were rickety, so when your roommates decides to stumble into bed at 4 am, you'll be woken up.

On checking in, our private 4-bed room was filled with other people's bags. The person at the check-in counter did not explain, she just said she would remove them (she did not). We moved in, making me think that security is lacking...(we could have gone thru the bags). Later as we were having food in the cafe, we saw 4 people come in, swipe their card to OUR room and take their bags away. Again, security lacking. Our room was number 1 right next to the cafe, so it was incredibly noisy, but worst of all the door leading to the cafe, separating the rooms was constantly banging open and shut...all day...all night. The place has no quiet time (10pm-8am)...noisy all night long and the rooms area has high ceilings so every noise is amplified and echoed. There is also no kitchen, just the cafe which served wonderful food, but to me a hostel is all about making your own food to save money. The only thing hostel-like was having to make our own beds. For the same amount of money we could have stayed in a hotel, have our beds already made, have a complementary breakfast, and not have to put up with the noise.

Very nice hostel

Pleasantly surprised by the hotel as we were expecting a dump of a hostel. We did book an extra bed to ensure that we had a room dedicated to our family. We expected hard bunk beds so was not distressed that that was what we received. The accommodation was very well situated in the old town of Alkmaar so we enjoyed the ease of walking to the sites we wanted to see. Parking at the hotel is non-existent but reasonable open space parking is at least not too far away.

This is a great hostel. Everything looks new and clean and tidy. Beds were comfortable. We stayed in both a dorm and a private room and both had ample space, with a wardrobe and table and chairs in the room. The bar/restaurant has a nice atmosphere. There is a communal area in the inner courtyard which is great during the day and while the bar is open but when the bar closes 1am it can become a gathering place for noisy drunk people. As all the bedrooms front on to this space one can't get away from the noise. This is the reason why I can't give it a 5 for overall rating. The reason why I only gave it a 4 for hotel service is because although it calls itself a hostel there is no facility for you to cook your own food, so could blow the budget slightly if you're on a low budget trip and staying in hostels.

Die Lage ist top, man kann alles zu Fuß erreichen.

Prijs / kwaliteitverhouding was prima, hartje Alkmaar, auto op nog geen 5 min afstand kunnen parkeren. Hotel had ook uitrijkaart, waardoor we goedkoper uit waren na 2,5 dag geparkeerd te hebben voor maar 12,50 euro. Er zijn spelletjes voor kinderen aanwezig. Toen we geen.gebruil maakten van de schoonmaakservice, kregen we op een stroopwafel als presentje :).

また、アムステルダムまではスプリンターで約40分の距離。

It was great and the location is very convenient. The walls are very thin though so you can hear everything that's going on on the streets and in the hallway. And the lights were very dim and yellow in the room we stayed in. However the room was equipped with everything we needed including a microwave, a mini fridge and a kettle. For the price it was great! Also remember that you have to pay a tourist fee of 5,60€ upon check in.

Nähe zu Amsterdam super. Hotelzimmer neu und sehr sauber. Wir sind mit dem Auto angereist, leider wurde uns nicht gesagt, dass jeden Samstag in Alkmaar ein Markt ist. Wir wurden (Kostem 275 eur) abgeschleppt. Wir hatten noch im Hotel über die Parkplatzsituationen gesprochen. Vielleicht ein kleiner Hinweis für die nächsten Gäste. :) Die Beschilderung ist auch sicher nicht optimal. Wir kommen trotzdem gerne wieder.

It was a four nights stay, the first room we had was awful (impossible to move for two people in this tiny room (would be alright for a single) nothing to hang or tide up bags and clothes, after a complain the staff kindly offered us to move to another room without extra charge, which we apreciated and from then it was alright even if the furnitures of poor quality could be better. but the location is great and the breakfast ok.

Veel verschillende soort kamers. Voor ieder wat wils. Vriendelijk personeel en mooie locatie. 2 min lopen van de parkeergarage, €18 per dag en 2 min van de kaasmarkt.

Das Personal war nett und hilfsbereit. Was das Zimmer betrifft, habe ich mir was Besseres vorgestellt . Es ist klein, ziemlich verstaubt, dreckige Tapeten und ziemlich laut. Das Fenster ließ sich nicht öffnen, es war richtig stickig im Zimmer, kaum frische Luft. Der einzige Wunsch war raus und nie wieder.
Das einzige Gute ist natürlich die Lage.
Bin eher enttäuscht.
