The food was great, especially the breakfast at the kitchen table, that was my favorite meal, they have a lot of activities in addition to the beautiful ocean, always kept very clean, the only small possible improvement I can say is there wasn’t good signage or maps to the restaurants. I only found out about the oceanfront restaurant on my last day., also seemed like nobody could break a 20 or 100 so I could give out tips so it was hard to tip , but other than those two small details, it’s a great place.

Food was average for all inclusive and only had a few long waits. Beach was nice and activities were planned out. Some maintenance was being done on restaurants while there that caused flow to other spots. Swim up room was nice, but not used by many. Enjoyed the fact it wasn't overly packed. Grill and hibachi are a must. It was a nice experience, but not enough for us to want to come back.

Otherwise if you’re looking to relax, I highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful vacation at Excellence El Carmen. The property is well maintained and the rooms quite spacious. There are numerous restaurants to choose from and the food was delicious. The one exception was the buffet which was a bit sub- par but we only visited that restaurant once. The pools are refreshing and the beach area maintained well. But the biggest highlight was the treatment we received from all the staff. They made our trip memorable.

Everything was so amazing! My wife and I went for our honeymoon and we loved every bit of it! I will say bring plenty of cash for tips and such or get some pesos at the beginning of the trip and use those first, but besides that the food 10/10 for most things, the service 10/10 I highly recommend getting the excellence club level rooms, it’s so worth it! Fransisco at check in/ checkout was awesome in the club, Emanuel at the martini bar along with all of the staff are just so friendly and inviting we had an absolute blast! If you’re a fisherman bring some of your gear! Thank you Excellence El Carmen! We will be back!

Amazing property, amazing staff, entertainment at night was lacking and we found wasn’t very good but we spent most of our time enjoying the day anyways so nights were spent in the room and we were great with that. Only negatives were that room service took well over an hour a couple of times, and there could be a couple of more options for lunch (having the taco truck open during the day would be great). The guy walking around delivering pizza to whoever wanted it throughout the afternoon was awesome. Honestly we had the best week ever.

I’m so disgusted with this property. I had to cancel my trip and REBOOK it for a longer stay due to weather and now they are making me pay for both and did not respond to the request for a refund for the booking that was cancelled even though I still went to the resort. So disgusting I will NEVER come back here due to this.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Excellence El Carmen and would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. The resort has a great atmosphere and feels very private and relaxing.

Booked a junior suite ocean view on Expedia but the room had a sliver of an ocean view from a distant. This was a huge disappointment and very misleading. In no way should this room have been labeled an ocean view and charged for one. Huge disappointment and will think twice about booking rooms through Expedia.
