We had a wonderful stay at Pita Maha. This is our second visit, and we will be back again. The breakfast is amazing (buffet a la carte main dish), the villas are cleaned twice a day including replacing complimentary water, the grounds are serene and picturesque, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. When combined with being within walking distance of Ubud town centre and lots of cafes and restaurants, we can't ask for anything more. Thank you!

The design and grounds of this hotel are fantastic, but over the years no money has been spent on upkeep so everything is quite worn and shabby. It’s a shame, with a little money and refresh and a better restaurant, this would be an amazing resort.

Setting is beautiful. Amazing gardens and rooms set against the backdrop of Ubud jungle.
Unfortunately the Ubud traffic is horrendous these days and even though the resort is only 2 km from the market, it can take 45 min to get in. You can walk if course but the paths are worse even than Seminyak and so very sketchy at night.
We also managed to get food poisoning after our first meal at the restaurant. 3 out of our party of 4 were affected, which resulted in us losing a day and a half. The only person who didn’t get sick didn’t eat the rice.

This is old Bali feel with old school elegance in the details. Best for couples not really for young children. However, needs some update to TV systems to bring on par with digital age. Great service and privacy. No need to leave villa as big enough to fell like home. Close to Ubud to walk or take free shuttle only 5/10 minutes depends on traffic.

Food not that great given Pita Maha status but greats places are very close with better quality and value (Indus and Mosaic) next door and down the street. Circle K next door as well money changer. Breakfast needs to be expanded and provide more options as selections are very limited and tailored to long ago tastes based on portion control. No egg omelette station and limited amount of fillings makes you feel corners being cut when not necessary.

Staff very friendly and like to help with anything you need. Close to Neka art Museum 5 minutes walk and also drop off for shuttle at Puri Lukisan Museum both top notch best in Bali.

We found the Pita Maya resort to be an excellent resort. The rooms were very large with a private pool. Maid service came twice a day but only changed the towels once in the four day stay. Bottled water was dropped off twice a day. The included breakfast was very good

I stayed at Pita Maha with my mum for 2 weeks in March 2023. The whole property was beautiful. We loved our villa and private pool. We had an amazing view and it felt like we could truly relax. It was so peaceful and quiet. All of the staff made us feel like royalty. Everyone was so kind and accommodating. Each time we would leave and return back to the resort, the staff would be so kind and welcoming. If we had any questions or requests, the staff were extremely helpful. It really felt like a home away from home. The food was absolutely delicious and we loved having breakfast there each morning. We enjoyed the lunches and beautiful dinners that we had there as well. We really enjoyed the appetisers they would give before our main meals. We are vegetarians, and they were able to adapt dishes to ensure they met our dietary requirements. We had massages there which were incredible. The masseuses came to our villa and made us feel comfortable and relaxed.
They had a shuttle that would take the guests to the main centre in Ubud multiple times a day. The shuttle would also pick us up from the centre as well. This made it easy to get out and about. When we left, we were given a beautiful gift from Agung Joni. We really had a fantastic time and felt like we were in paradise. We definitely recommend Pita Maha as a place to stay in Ubud! We hope to return in the future :)

Architecturally, the hotel is stunning - individual stone villas set amongst jungle-landscaped pathways and with a gorgeous pool. Unfortunately it hasn’t been kept up over the years, so everything is a little dated and starting to fall apart. That said, for the price and location, I would stay there again.

Best Hotel- Best People

We spent our Honeymoon here and it was the best decision of our lives. I genuinely mean it. Our stay was faultless and the staff made us feel like family and went the extra mile over and over again. This is the most romantic place in Bali and the staff are like angels. Humble, helpful, cheerful, funny and nothing was too much. We will come here over and over again and we have told all our friends and work colleagues about this beautiful place.

The Private Villa with a pool is the best idea. Sitting in the evening surrounded with Gecko's, Frogs and beautiful nature.

It was my wife's Birthday and the staff brought a cake to the room and sang happy birthday, they filled the bath with flower petals as well as the swimming pool. The hotel provided a floating breakfast along with a spa morning.

We even planted a tree in our names! WOW.

WE LOVE THIS HOTEL..... THANK YOU EVERYONE

Outstanding boutique property where each suite is a separate villa surrounded by high walls and exquisite privacy. Deep pool for each villa overlooking the jungle valley. Food and service are superb and staff manages each request graciously. Only drawback is marginal WiFi which requires new login every time it’s used in lobby area. The villa basically has no WiFi but that could be a pleasing depending on your perspective. Look forward to returning.

Beautiful lush gardens, stunning infinity pool & views. Loved the villa & pool we stayed in. The staff are really attentive & OVERLY helpful & friendly. All in all we had a great experience. The breakfast was nice, but small portions. Restaurant is pricey & small portions. Walk 150m down the road for delicious Asian food at Warung Pulau Kelapa or the Elephant 400m for amazing healthy options. We were asked about 15x in 2 days what our room number is (quite annoying).

Perfect home base for Ubud

My wife and I stayed for five nights at the Pita Maha, never having been to Bali before but having traveled extensively in SE Asia. This resort was perfect.

Our villa was gorgeous, with a great view of Kampuhan ridge. Better than the pictures! Staff cleaned twice daily, kept fresh fruit and snacks stocked, and every single person on the property greeted us with a smile.

Breakfast each morning was delicious and more than enough to fuel an active (or not) Bali day. Walking distance (~1k) or a cheap cab (~$3.50) from downtown, but plenty of restaurants and spas even closer as well, while feeling remote.

We wish we didn’t have to go home! Highly recommend this property.

Absolutely amazing. We stayed in one of the private the pool villas and it was a complete dream. Gorgeous, traditional Balinese-style suites are appointed with care and quality and the delightful staff made us feel very welcome. It is such a peaceful place. We used the hotel shuttle to go into Ubud and walked back and both were easy to do. It would be good if the shuttle went back and forth more frequently, but it's also easy to get a cab and we thought it was a pleasant walk. There's a smattering of nice shops and restaurants around the hotel but not the intensity of central Ubud. We were glad to be out of the hustle and bustle. We would absolutely recommend the Pita Maha for a really special holiday experience.

We are so glad we selected Pita Maha for our stay in Ubud. The welcoming staff provided a cold towel and fresh fruit drinks. Our bags were taken to our magical room (villa 205) it was a nice room, private pool and perfect view of the jungle. It was so romantic. We enjoyed the tropical outdoor shower and tub. The staff was top notch. The breakfast was served good every morning and the drinks by the pool were refreshing. Don’t miss out on a good experience, you won’t regret it!

The property is beautiful. Staff is kind and friendly. WiFi is not reliable but I think it is a good thing. People are forced to unplug. Shuttle bus to town is every 2 to 3 hours. It would be helpful if it is a little more frequent and if it linked to the other sister properties. The walk way to the town center is nonexistent, especially at night. Tax is readily available for 50K rupiah

Overall our stay at the Pita Maha was amazing. From the friendly staff, to the spacious, clean villa w/ pool and also the luxurious hotel in itself was so great. We were visiting on our honeymoon and it was perfect. There is also a lot near by to see and go out to eat -- also, they are very helpful in accommodating any touristy requests :)

I would definitely recommend to anyone going to Bali/Ubud to stay there!

Mountain Privacy!

Pita Maha was just what we needed!

We thoroughly enjoyed the privacy of the Spa Villa. Nestled on the side of the mountain we could hear the rushing waters of the river below us and enjoy the beauty of the jungle around us. Our personal jacuzzi, whirlpool, infinity pool, sauna and massage area were so convenient and relaxing. We especially enjoyed having our meals served poolside.

The staff members were very conscientious about observing our private space, but were also very attentive to our needs.

We look forward to a return visit to Pita Maha!

This is a classical great hotel in the mysterious woods. If you want special atmosphere in Ubud, I recommend it for you. But if you want just be comfortable, you may feel it could be better. Because air-conditioner didn't work well at least in my room. The value of this hotel depends on what you want.

Good for a calm and peaceful getaway

Loved the stay however I booked 2 rooms and requested a rollout bed for 1 of the rooms which they charged an extra USD$85 per night. When I went to visit the 2nd room before checking out - turns out the \"rollout bed\" is already a couch that is permanently in the room. Seemed a little unreasonable to charge us for something that was already a standard in the room. That was the letdown of the stay. The spa and infitinty pool were wonderful but we could only use the spa pool if we paid for a specific spa package which was a little disappointing. The restaurant was quite limited in their drinks selection. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The individual rooms make it feel like a private sanctuary which was lovely, plus the entire resort was always calm and peaceful.

When we landed in Bali we did not know what to expect. We had planned a 4 day trip and we had decided that we'd like to spend 2 days relaxing, and 2 days enjoying the more 'happening' parts of Bali. As such, we decided to book the first 2 days into Pita Maha in Ubud. Our journey to Ubud was interesting. We decided to take an Uber from the Airport. After battling through the waves of taxi drivers trying to over-charge and rip us off, we finally managed to find our driver. The drive to Ubud was long and our driver didn't seem to know the way. Nevertheless we found our way to our destination 1.5 hours later. We were greeted very warmly by Marda and his team at Pita Maha. We were served refreshing towels and welcome drinks and then showed our room. Marda was excellent in showing us our room, the features, and introducing us to the area. Our stay in Pita Maha was nothing short of what we had expected. It was very tranquil, relaxing and away from all the hustle busle. Everything about our stay was brilliant - from our accommodation to the extremely generous hospitality that Pita Maha staff provided us. Including a special cake for our honeymoon,decorations on our bed at welcome and a customised plaque which was gifted to us upon our departure by the manager. Our only suggestion for improvement to Pita Maha would be to increase the portion size of the breakfast they served. Coming from a Western country we felt that the portions they had served with their breakfast were too small.

this resort is breathtaking. the pictures don't even do justice to the natural beauty surrounding the resort. their service was proactive, thoughtful, helpful, and polite. the amenities were a perfect compliment to the natural beauty. we stayed in a villa with a small pool overlooking the valley and would have spent all our time there just taking in the views had we not booked a few tours. its a great location to see Ubud and all it has to offer. better than 5 stars for sure

Everything was fine until check out when I found out that there was 1 item on the bill that was over $250 in charges that I didn't make , there was a signature that was clearly not mine , they refused to sort the bill and refused to sort it out saying I have to pay , because I was running late I Had to pay ,

So they let anyone charge anything to your room and they don't care

Built into a steep hill face in the old grand part of Ubud with the best restaurants and galleries just walking distance away, it offers breathtaking views. Stay here with my wife for a belated honeymoon and was just so happy with the quality and environment this hotel provided. Great attention to detail - beautiful room. Definitely get one with your own plunge pool. My only gripes (which were really minor) were it would have been nice to have better room service capability and some better coverage from a food/beverage/service in the main pool area.

The positives far outweigh the negatives though and I would highly recommend anyone I know to stay here . . .

Amazing stay for couples

Hotel provided free transport from the airport to the hotel and to our next destination in seminyak. They were waiting for us on arrival at the airport. Transport was smooth, had cold towels and water waiting for us. Our room was great, spacious, with lots of light, and had a great atmosphere. Bathroom was also nice, but the toilet room was very basic. Shower is outside but connected to the room, beautiful to experience this. Only complaint about the hotel was slow wifi with variable connectivity. The private pool outside was beautiful, and the sun hit our private area nicely, able to tan and enjoy our villa privately. The hotel pool has an amazing view and was never very busy. They have several loungers poolside and there was no need to arrive early to make sure you had a good spot for the day. The hotel breakfast was delicious, not a huge variety of options, but it was included with our stay and there was certainly enough options for a 4 night stay. Have breakfast delivered to your room at no extra cost, this makes for a great start to your day. Did not try the lunch or dinner so can't comment there. The hotel provides a shuttle that go every hour from 9am to 9pm. After that you can pay the hotel 50,000 Indonesian rupiah for pickup if needed. Hotel also arranged private transport for a day of sightseeing for us. This was a great option as we planned our own itinerary and the driver took us wherever we wanted, including some places he suggested. Overall an amazing experience

Loved Pita Maha even though they screwed up!

We loved the Pita Maha and stayed in a pool villa. The only reason that I did not give them a 5/5 is that they actually overbooked the hotel and made us move to their sister hotel for the first of three nights. As it turns out, the sister hotel was a \"Luxury\" hotel (The Royal Pita Maha) similar to the Four Seasons and we had a rather extravagant villa with a larger pool at a rather extravagant resort for the night. However, it was on the outskirts of town and required us to be bussed back and forth from town. They made right by giving us free dinner. The rest of our stay back the Pita Maha was absolutely lovely and the service was excellent, but we frankly did not love the fact that we had to pack up and move.

Despite this, I would recommend Pita Maha to anyone staying in Ubud. The value was amazing for the price and our villa was stunning. The service was superb as well.

Simply Magic!

We stayed 5 nights in early June 2015 in a pool villa. The villa was wonderfully presented from the well maintained garden and pool to the luxurious Balinese lounge, bedroom and bathroom. It was a wonderful treat being able to spend time in such a private and peaceful setting. We loved wandering around the resort's immaculate tropical gardens to the restaurant and infinity pool. The staff are proud to work at Pita Maha and were professional, attentive, polite and friendly. The service we received made us feel like royalty, that I think even if one just stayed at the Pita Maha without venturing out, the Pita Maha would be a holiday in itself. The resort is well located and there are plenty of other restaurants within walking distance from Pita Maha. We found the food at the Pita Maha was fabulous so we always had breakfast there and a couple of dinners. There is an hourly shuttle to and from Ubud town but this said, an early morning or evening stroll is really easy to do between the hotel and town. A slow stroll into town, looking at shops and taking photos took us 30 mins. One could easily walk it in 25 mins. If you can't afford a pool villa, the garden room villas are still wonderful and the infinity pool is so gorgeous that it would be tragic not to take a dip in it at least just once.

Great secluded villas in traditional style

The hotel is located about 7-10 minute drive to the centre of Ubud (hotel provides free shuttle service to Ubud). The hotel isn't too big and only has villas, which are done in traditional style and of very good size. Each villa is very private. The main swimming pool has a great view on the hill and is a great place to take pictures.
Breakfast was great with a choice of 4 menus. Staff was great, everyone very polite, helpful and spoke very good English.
We stayed for our honeymoon and except for a chocolate cake in the room, hotel also gave us very nice presents on check out.

Stayed in villa 201, garden villia with private pool- but pool wasn't very private and could not move us to another villia with as spectacular view. They offered us a complimentary massage and we ended up putting up sarongs for pool privacy!
Staff were polite, friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was very similar daily but option of Balinese breakfast too. Hourly Shuttle to and from centre.

Everything we could have hoped for. Beautiful surroundings, beautiful villa,beautiful pool. The only thing I would mention is the villa pool filter had to run all day which was like a water fall & was very noisy. If you wanted just quiet the water fountain spoiled that for me. I did mention it too management, I don't think they understood me. At other resorts we have stayed at you had the option to turn it off.

Heaven is a place on earth.

Wow, Pita Maha is truly an enriching experience. I have never quite come across a resort where I have been treated at the level the staff at Pita Maha ensured day in and day out. I genuinely felt I had become a part of their family and that they were all there to make sure I had an amazing time. Not just because it is their job to do so, but because they personally felt connected to the experience. From the stunning rooms, the gorgeous infinity pool views to the breakfast that goes to 5pm, just to let you sleep a little bit longer. Pita Maha is a resort you will never forget.

We loved our stay at Pita Maha as the resort is pure bliss!
Our villa was so spacious and beautiful with the private pool and outdoor shower.
The staff were fantastic and very professional.
We wanted to spend our time relaxing and felt really refreshed by the end of out trip. My partner and I both got a spa package with a massage, body scrub, facial and flower bath which we both throughly enjoyed. The restaurant serves delicious meals and the breakfast options provide plenty of variety to choose from.
The additional resort activities were allot of fun as well. We cannot wait to go back to Pita Maha again!

wonderful visit and stay at the pita maha. our pool villa was really beutyful and and the hotel and pool areas are really nice also. Some small details in the villa could be updated with some nicer products but the overall atmosphere is great. The afternoon tea is a nice feature.
The restaurant did not suit us, we found better options in Ubud town

We love this resort! The pool villa is amazing and beautiful. This was our second stay at the resort and it is still as lovely as when we first stayed there 8 years ago. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are lots of amenities and the food is excellent.

We expected a bit more based on the reviews and we had some issues with the staff. It is close to the ridge walk which is nice. Our bathroom had an old poured concrete tub with a ring around it, but the shower was nice and the room itself was very spacious.

Not what your hoping for, scammed by front desk

The hotel itself is far from town and the complimentary shuttle was inconvenient. For the money, we much preferred our stay at Kajene in central ubud. The villa was ok, but the staff included a 10 year old boy who handled our ice with his hands. Also, the man at the front desk who speaks excellent english and who checked us in gave us an expensive ride to the start of the Campuhah Ridge Walk (really great and a must see in Ubud) and dropped us at a \"local artist's\" house to see a true area residence and get art at prices 50 percent better than in the galleries. The problem was though it was a very charasmatic con artist claiming to be a painter. We found his very expensive work also in the bulk bins in the markets of Densapar, and we are confident he is in cahoots with the front desk man at the hotel.

Welcome at hotel from \"manager\" was nice however remaining staff not friendly.

Room was exquisite but that was where our love of the location ended.

Food was terrible. Ordered a meal without capsicum (red or green peppers) as my partner was highly allergic and was assured no capsicum served however hidden in sauce, my partner was extemely sick. Lucky we had our own Epipen.

We stayed in a private garden villa with pool. Beautifully overlooking the valley and river. The room was very spacious with doors that open up so that you can view the valley right from your bed. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was great. They also have a free shuttle service to Ubud. If your looking for peace and tranquility I highly recommend Pita Maha. I will definitely return one day.

Nothing could be better than Pita Maha

Before we were flying to Bali, I was a bit anxious related to our safety in the new place. When I booked our stay at Pita Maha, I was not sure if it would be the same as the pictures and also comfortable for us.. But soon as we arrived, I realised that I could not have booked a better place for us.. The villas are beautiful, the resort is spectacular, the staff is warm and loving, the service is superb.. I mean everything about Pita Maha was magical for me.. The dinning room, the waiting area, our own room, the pool and everything.. We felt as home inspite of being to Bali for the first time and all thanks to the staff at Pita Maha, very cooperative and warm. The best thing I liked about the place is their approach to their guests, which was purely giving them the best possible experience.. Just to give you an example.. 'When we arrived, they might have had a garden pool villa vacant, well to our surprise the upgraded us to a garden pool villa even though we had paid for just a villa room.. That was very pleasant and I should say, I would have missed it otherwise.. I have already propagated the resort enough on my Facebook status and I am sure all my friends have got Pita Maha on their list to Bali.. I would also recommend the beautiful place to all the readers.. Believe me you will live everything about it...

Just came back from wonderful place called Pita Maha. This hotel deserves nothing but five stars in every aspect.. The restaurant and bar are a bit pricey in comparison with other \"warungs\" (restaurants) downtown but hey it is a 4-star hotel so no surprise there. Staff is very, very polite, with all-the-time smile on their face. They also run a complimentary bus service for hotel guests that gets you to Ubud and back every hour from 9 am to 9 pm, which is very convenient as walking down to Ubud can be sometimes a pain due to quality and width of Ubud's sidewalks. If you need to be attached to the outer world the facility offers free wi-fi, cable tv with sport (fox sports) and movie (HBO) channels. All the villas are air-conditioned, furnished simply but in good taste. Simply put, this hotel will not let you down and if I should come back to Bali (Ubud) again I know where to stay already.
