We chose Hanz Outdoor Resort for the Mt Fuji glamping experience and the private BBQ facilities heavily featured in its advertising. The accommodation itself was beautiful, but our stay was overshadowed by poor communication, inconsistent pricing, and unclear policies.
Our tent was stunning, clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The bathroom was excellent and staff were friendly on arrival.
Unfortunately, confusion started almost immediately. When arranging a taxi back to the station, we were quoted different prices by staff, and the final fare was different again. This became a recurring theme throughout our stay.
We also paid for what was advertised as a buffet breakfast, but it was actually a few slices of bread, ham, cheese, fruit, lettuce, and orange juice. It was fine, but not what we expected.
The biggest issue involved the BBQ. After buying groceries to cook dinner, we asked for charcoal and received multiple different prices. We were then told it would cost 11,000 yen to cook our own food on the private BBQ because outside food was not allowed. This policy had never been mentioned during booking, check-in, or the resort tour despite the BBQ being a major selling point. After a lengthy discussion, the fee was reduced.
