The Beekman Arms is a must visit location in Rhinebeck. Incredible history, and the library, entrance, and bar have great artifacts and character. I think they could make some better design choices in those spaces - for example it’s debatable if they need a tv screen in the bar, or at least more discretely hung but that’s a matter of taste.

Unfortunately the accommodation was really poor. If you are unfamiliar, the hotel listing is actually a network of many buildings in the area that the Beekman & Delamater buildings are found. So you may think you are staying in a historic building to learn at check in that you are in a building several hundred yards away that are more modern (last 50 years et).

To add insult to injury - these other rooms are terrible. Damp smell, curtains from the 70s or 80s(?), dark, drab painted rooms, grimy furniture, a bathroom tub that leaked water (we showered only), pillows that were dusty, WiFi that never connected, it was shocking to see such outdated and run down rooms.

I really hope someone from the hotel reads this - for the cost of 1-2 nights accommodation and some thoughtful design choices you could update these rooms. As custodians of a historic property, the Beekman name deserves better.

For now, I’d only stay here if you ran out of options, including nearby towns.

Beware! This is completely false advertising. The Beekman is very run down looking in person and is selling the idea that you'll be staying in an 18th-century inn. There was no indication or photos that revealed that we were actually booked a couple blocks away in what looked like a 1970s converted apartment building. Our \"courtyard view\" was people walking by facing our bed, so we had to keep the curtains shut. The dining area in the photos is not where breakfast is served--nor is it in the Victorian Delameter Inn, but a separate building near the apartment buildings. And the heating system is ridiculously noisy with inconsistent noises. If you're a light sleeper, you're better off turning off the heat, which is what I finally did at 5am.

The inn could use some freshening up. Room carpet was stained in multiple places, for example, and the building badly needs to be repainted on the outside. Guests should be told when booking that their room will be on the third floor in case stairs are an issue. It’s a charming, historic building in a great location but it looks a little rundown.

Took a long time to check in because a couple was there reviewing their future wedding plan reservations room by room ... (at 3 PM, arggh) but once she asked them to wait, she checked us in quickly. The room was lovely and very large (Courtyard) and clean. Lovely touch to have sherry to sample...I went and bought a bottle to take home. The sink drain top and one of the outlet covers were broken. Didn't affect us but not a good look. One bed was incredibly firm - miserably so (and I usually prefer a firm bed). The other was \"normal\" firm. Great pillows. LOVED the fireplace. Very very clean. Quiet. Did not sleep well but did enjoy the room. We left before breakfast was offered. Would stay again.

I find example of a structure from the greatest era of American House building. This Victorian painted lady was a great place to stay. We were in the guest carriage house which had two lovely bedrooms. The bathrooms were not super updated, but they were more than adequate and clean. Charm of bounds we did not have breakfast because we were in a bit of a rush, so I can’t speak to that, but it was a very easy experience all around and even though we got there very late checking in was seamless. They just left the keys in the room for us and the door opened and it was perfect. We’ll definitely stay there again if I’m going to Saratoga.

Decent room and clean enough but WOW does this hotel need some renovations. There is no way to control the heat and it was so hot in the room. We opened the window and the cross walk was continually beeping and making noise such that there is no way to keep the window open. Staff was nice enough but if you know this is an issue leave a fan in the room and tell people or provide ear plugs or don’t blast the heat in those rooms!

The Beekman Arms is an historic property in the wonderful town of Rhinebeck. This was the second time we stayed at the property and the room we had in the Townsend Building was a large room with a fireplace and a very nice shower. They also offer a very nice continental breakfast. What was a problem was 1) the exterior door that slammed very loudly right outside our room at all hours of the day and night and 2) the horrible access to internet, which kicked us off and on throughout out 2 day stay.

Alex at the reception desk was so helpful, Karen our waitress at the Tavern are just two of the many wonderful members of the staff that made our stay so wonderful. The hotel was a disappointment. We expected a higher quality than the reality.
Our room looked and felt uncared for. The washer in the sink was rusted &parts of the room were peeling and/or cracked. We were unable to sleep most of the night because the heating system was on a repeated schedule &makingweird,loud noises. Our bed was soft &comfortable &the only real positive of the room. Part of the appeal of the hotel is its history,so we weren’t expecting a contemporary hotel. But we did expect a hotel and a room that was cared for. We didn’t get it.
The breakfast that was advertised as part of the stay was several blocks away in another building on a different street.
On another note, we stopped in around1230 to see if we could park in the hotel parking lot while we walked around town.(Checkout is at11 so we thought we wouldn’t be taking anyone’s space.)
We were told yes.then we asked if there was any chance of getting in before the 3 arrival time. The receptionist very enthusiastically said it wouldn’t be a problem &the room should be available soon.
We returned around 2 expecting to get in, but were told it wasn’t ready yet. We sat down in the lobby to wait. At 245 I asked the receptionist what our rooms status was.She told me it would be another hour &half before it was ready. I said check-in time was3…&asked what was going on. She mumbled something & saidit wouldn’t be that long… and then she left her desk. We ending getting in@3,but felt let down.

The hotel did not honor Expedia prices and forced me to pay practically an extra night. The manager kept saying the difference was in taxes, which may vary, but that was not true. The difference in taxes represented a very small portion of the extra amount they charged me. The manager kept saying that’s what happens when you book rooms through 3rd party and that I should book directly next time. I had to accept it as they had already charged my card. I will formally report this to expedia and will share this negative review in other forums. Very disappointing…

There were issues with the hotel as well, which would had been easily forgotten wasn’t for this terrible experience at check out: This is a historic hotel, but they also have rooms outside of the main building, nothing historic about them, and that’s where they put me first. Linoleum floors, noisy neighbors above us and a heater with a broken thermostat that forced me to wake up several times at night to turn it on and off. They accommodated my request to move to the main building, but make sure to ask for that when you book your reservation. Early in the morning almost every day there was someone blowing leaves by my window. Not a great way to wake up but I’m early riser, so no big deal.

On a positive note,the hotel is clean, rooms are nice size , comfortable with nice decor. The price is also very afforable.
The negative: The staff is not helpful or friendly.
Check-in and bar area especially. At check -in , receptionist wasnt helpful, not welcoming and not accommodating at all !
Later on early evening 4 of us(2 couples) wanted to have a few drinks at the bar, no one greeted us. After standing around for a few minutes, we asked if we can sit at a table(since the bar itself was full). The answer was a flat out no, since we didnt have reservations. It was early evening there were many, many empty tables.

The map of the hotel campus given out at the reception desk is useless. We spent 20 minutes searching out our room, only to eventually discover that it was not what I had requested and paid for through hotels com. I don't know how guests find their rooms after dark. We were moved to a room that looked nothing like the glorious photos shown online. But the hotel receptionist was helpful in moving us to a proper room.

Did not like this hotel- first of all, please note that you may NOT be staying in the main house. We checked in and were given a map showing us that we had to drive three blocks away to a house that looked like a condo building built in the 70's. The charm was to be able to stay in the \"oldest inn in America\"but the only time we spent any real time in the inn was during check in. The rooms were old and extremely dated- burgundy walls mixed with yellow walls in the bathroom. The only good thing about this hotel was the location. I would not stay there again

Beekman Arms Fiasco!!

We arrived to be sent on a wild Goose Chase! We got to a Room a few Blocks from the Main Hotel. It was a Three Unit Bldg. the Keys we were Given did not Fit the Lock. Also there was a Dog in the Unit Below that was Continually Barking. The Whole Place looked Terribly Run Down! We then had to walk back to the Main Hotel and explain that the Keys didn’t Fit. The Young Woman was very Rude and Unhelpful. A Man came in to Relieve Her and after some complaining we got a Room in the Hotel. It was two Single Beds. It had a Gerryrigged A/C very Noisy. The Television Cabinet Doors would not Stay open. The Bathroom had noExhaust Working. Lighting was Poor, and No Mat in the Tub as it was Extremely Slippery. Taps for water in the Tub were very Hard to make the Water Safe and not too Hot. The Shower Head was Ancient and Dispersed the Water poorly. Continental Breakfast was not Available in the Hotel but a few Blocks away. It was a Very Expensive unhappy Time for Us. What we got for Our Money was Abysmal. We are both in Our 70’s and this is not How anyone Should be Treated
