Room very large with kitchen and dining table and chairs very clean.
Balcony was quite enclosed because of all the greenery and wasn’t really useable…. Shame
The sky bar was only open sporadically it could have been so much better a few evenings we were the only people in it.
Food was good plentiful and lots of choice for breakfast and dinner.
Fire show at the beach bar was good but safety seemed a bit lacking, after show children on the stage with the fire spinning around them. Whilst the fire show was advertised by the hotel unsure if it was operated by them.
No entertainment in the hotel or surrounding area.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom Villa expecting exceptional service and holiday as it was one of the most expensive rooms at the hotel.
To be honest the stay was good overall. The accommodation is a bit older but is well maintained.
The staff at the hotel were mostly good to amazing. The staff tried to help, but most could not speak English or any of the other languages we speak. I used the Vietnamese to English phone apps that are free to use. It was usually manageable, and many of the staff were truly trying to help.
The room service and cleaning staff did an exceptional job, there was never anything to complain about, and they were amazing.
The kitchen and breakfast, options have hardly any vegetarian or vegan options unless you want to use the salad bar to make your own sandwiches. As our group was all vegetarian or vegan this made it a bit of a challenge. Most days there were 2-3 good vegetarian options at breakfast. We did speak to kitchen management and they were able to accommodate us after the first a couple of days of our 8 day stay. They even packed us breakfast on the last day of our stay which was a really nice touch.
Outside the hotel there was an undercurrent of tourists not being wanted, or not welcome, which I found surprising because it is a town fully dependent on tourism. Booking outings with the staff from hotel is probably the best way to go.

Great hotel with nice amenities. Nice sized room with a balcony and small kitchenette. Pools and beach area were well maintained and enjoyable.
Wonderful buffet breakfast provided every morning. A market with lots of dinner dining options right across the street for dinner.
There is a bus line that stops right in front of the hotel to get you into the city.
Overall an enjoyable stay.

Beautiful resort with a fantastic location on the beach with a beach bar and evening fire shows, and a night market right across the road. They had a fantastic range for their buffet breakfast with a good range of fresh local fruit. Loved their swimming pools and the added foam party on Fridays. Only downside was the low water pressure in the shower on the 7th floor.

The pool was great, shallow and therefore very warm, but due to the design lots of areas to get away from people and seperate kids pool area.
The rooms were comfy and bathrooms pretty clean. Sweeping behind the doors is something all hotels should check as there were long black hairs behind the door which was not very pleasant.
The breakfast buffet has a very large selection, food is pre cooked so things like eggs or bacon or hash browns lose freshness unless you wait for a fresh batch. But selection very good.
Improvements I would suggest would be to allow pool bar/ laundry etc to be charged to your room. Paying for everything cash or card as you go is annoying as who wants to have cash or card on them by the pool?
The other thing was checkout and the bus to airport. The checkout guy told me to wait ten minutes whilst housekeeping checked the room. I told him I would sit and wait in corner of the lobby. He never came back. 40 mins later I tried to get on the bus and told I needed to checkout. I went back to desk, guy apologises for forgetting and another guy tells me I can now get on the bus. I walk back to the bus. The bus guy says I need a ticket from housekeeping. I go back to the front desk, the desk guys says no just get on the bus! In the end I had to get bus guy to reluctantly come with me to the desk so they could talk to each other - and eventually I was let on the bus! Things like this really should not happen! But little gripe for an overall pleasant stay.

Amenities were lovely, beach was very nice with cabanas and nice bean bag lounge chairs. Breakfast had lots of options. Location was convenient and close to many decent food options. Rooms were spacious and the entire facility was clean. The gym was also decent. It’s a very big property and breakfast was very busy every morning- so be prepared to be patient as people will cut in front of you and almost take serving utensils out of your hand to load their plates! Other than that- the property itself was very nice!

The hotel is good, no hot water. Staff at the Sonasea Beach Bar is extremely unprofessional, too many people behind the bar talking amongst themselves rather than waiting on the customers (both times I came here). One particular woman manager (daytime) creates a toxic environment for others.
Several employees sneezing into their hands then continue to make cocktails and handling food. Overall, I would not come back because of this service.

The lobby makes a great first impression. Spacious, nicely decorated, helpful check in staff and clean. Our room was clean, stocked and had a lovely view of the grounds and the ocean. The landscaping and pool were well kept and the towels fluffy and clean. We managed to snag one of the covered day beds on the beach and enjoyed the day hanging out and drinking cocktails. They have bikes to rent so we went for a bike ride along the path that runs along the beach for several km so you can check out all of the other properties in the area.
A couple of reasons for only giving it a 'good' rating:
1) given that it accommodates between 1k and 1500 guests, there are only about 150 pool and beach loungers. And several have no shade or umbrella. There are also several bean bag loungers, but again, they are not covered.
Second, the coffee station at breakfast is located at the front door and always congested. The number of people standing in line waiting for clean cups and coffee was staggering. While that may seem insignificant, when you hear people complaining in several languages, you get it. Lol.
Lastly, as a non smoker, it would be nice to have some designated \"smoking only' areas, so the rest of us can breathe healthy air as we eat or meals and enjoy the property.

Beautiful view of the pool and beach from balcony. While not in the heart of Phu Quoc, it was nice to be a short distance away in the quiet and was a cheap taxi to anywhere. Still had easy access to shops, atms, night markets. The hotel and surrounds were very clean and well-landscaped. Staff were very friendly. I had the half-board option and it was a three course meal either lunch or dinner. Food was delicious. Pool bar was great and foam party and entertainment for kids was great. Rooms were well-equipped and house cleaning was wonderful. Definitely recommend Best Western Sonasea.

This hotel is very nice to look at, very clean...but very dull. Its clinical in its presentation and it doesnt have much of the vietnamese culture included. In other words this hotel could be put anywhere in the world and it will fit in enough. Its also quite a distance from anywhere with character. Luckily taxis are so cheap in this country. The staff, i found to be okay but you will find much better hospitality elsewhere in vietnam. The island is definitely worth visiting and was the highlight of my trip.

Our room was spacious and clean. We traveled with 2 kids. So space is a must. And this hotel did not disappoint. The staff was very helpful esp. the young lady that works in the kids area.😊 we leave the kids there for an hour so me and husband can get our massage. The massage place was like few steps away from the kids area..
Before leaving the kids you are required to sign in your info. Just incase of emergency. My kids are like 5 and 8 so they are not like hard to watch.. they made crafts,coloring and play video games... one more thing! Breakfast buffet was super good😉 definitely will be back in the future😊

We had such a wonderful experience here! From the moment we were picked up by the shuttle all the way to check out. The service was amazing! Everyone was friendly and helpful. We had a birthday in our group but didn’t let anyone know and yet they still surprised us with a slice of cake and a handwritten card. It was such a thoughtful gesture. I feel like the bathrooms could be a little cleaner, the corners and walls need a scrubbing. The hallways need some air conditioning and an air fresher since it was a bit stale. Overall the rooms were big and comfortable. The breakfast buffet had an amazing variety! The pools were great too! The beach was alright. There was some trash in the water but that’s on the guests for not practicing “leave no trace”. Highly recommend the hotel!

We had a great time and will definitely come back. I like the conscience of having a laundromat/convenient store literally cross the street was great for my family. I do want to praise all the friendly staff, Especially Long in the breakfast area. We have a vegetarian member in our group and he came and talk to her ensuring she has vegetarian foods. And Thao who helped us check out was super nice a well. I honestly want to praise many staff members however, I didn’t catch their names. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends.

What we thought was a more than reasonable situation to request an advanced exemption for a refund due to a very recent health diagnosis, we were surprisingly declined. Our first night we arrived we were out in a suite with no functioning air conditioning. We told staff right away because it was reading 29° in the room and it was so stuffy. They sent an engineer to fix it but did not fix anything in the end. After three attempts to fix it and several hours later we requested to be switched to another room. We asked to speak with a manager and we kept getting promised that they would make that happen but it never happened until I reached out to The hotels app customer service… All of a sudden they were able to get a hold of the manager and we were put into a new room within 30 minutes. We were asked by the manager what they can offer in order to make things right in our eyes. I suggested that because we lost out on our first nights plans due to the issues with the air conditioning, I suggested one free night at the hotels expense to make up for our plants having to be canceled for the initial night and the Manager said they will have to talk with the GM. The GM declined it which is disappointing because I thought it was a very fair request. In the end, we were switched to another room that was a slight upgrade in size.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Best Western Sonasea for a month. We highly recommend this resort. The Best Western is in a great location. It’s within walking distance to the night market, which has some of the best restaurants we’ve ever been to. The hotel is clean and modern. Ms. Thuy took personal pride in being our housekeeper. The Cview Sky Bar has beautiful sunset and nighttime views. We saw the green flash twice. Trong was a great bartender there, taking music requsts for us to dance. The beach was nice, only a short walk from the hotel, with plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas. The two pools were always immaculate. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of foods, from traditional brunch fare to Vietnamese specialities. The staff was wonderful. At the breakfast buffet, Miss Vy was the first to make us Vietnamese coffee. After that, Mr. Thuong’s entire staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Mr. Rau & Mr. Hiep were also very attentive, often serving us themselves.

This is a lovely beachfront hotel with a great location. Just across the street, you'll find a a few restaurants, and a night market, many of which offer delicious seafood. We really enjoyed the convenience of the location.

The breakfast buffet was fantastic, offering a wide variety of options. However, we were less impressed with the dinner buffet. It didn’t feel like it provided good value for the price we paid.

Overall, it’s a great spot to stay if you’re looking for a resort-like experience with easy access to dining and shopping. It’s especially suitable for families our group of friends.

The property has its charms. The spa isn’t large, but the staff are great in particular, Hai and Trang . In terms of the front desk we are very grateful for the help we received from Quoc. The floors in our rooms weren’t very clean, nor were the floors on our entire floor, leading to our room and elevator. The staff in the restaurant are friendly. We had difficulty with one person who didn’t quite seem to believe that my daughter was under the age of 11 for the buffet. So that led to frustration. The next day, just to eliminate any issues, I showed our waitress her passport. Felt sort of demeaning to have to resort to that. We were at the main pool often and thought it would be nice if we could have had poolside service. Overall it was a nice stay. The balcony is a nice touch, especially to dry off wet clothing and the night market right across the street is nice to take a stroll, shop and eat.

Our second visit here as we enjoyed so much last year. A great hotel with large swimming pool and other lagoon pools taking you down to private beach with good beach bar and lunch menu. Very well set out and beautifully landscaped. Walking Street is directly opposite the hotel providing several dining options from restaurants to street food. Also shopping stalls and even entertainment on Weekend evenings. Easy enough to get a taxi to Long Beach and other beach bars/restaurants. Very good buffet breakfast in the hotel. Nice hotel but would not say it is a 5 star hotel more 4 star. We had the so not disturb sign on but got woken several times one time we were called to sign for a bill from the day before which could of been sorted in the afternoon. Beach is lovely and views aroung sunset are amazing. Really good place to have down time when travelling but limited places for rhe evening apart from food venues at the night market.

If you're from North America you are probably like us and were questioning how a Beat Western is a 5 star hotel. But this hotel was great. Very good value for your money. Had an amazing stay here. Everything so comfortable and clean and safe feeling. The lazy river pool was so nice to float around in the early evening. While it's not the most convenient location the hotel makes up for it in spades. If you're ok with taking a taxi/grab around the city then I highly recommend this place.

Overall a great stay. The pool,beach and garden areas are outstanding. Plenty of sunbeds.There is a huge choice with the breakfast buffet but it is very busy at all the different times we went. Lots of dining options across thd road. Slight disatifaction with cleaning where something was wrong most of the 14 days we stayed. Small niggles - no bath towels,no towels. Robes taken but not replaced. In room dining trays (not ours) left in the corrider for 3 days before we asked for them to be removed.

I stayed over the Tet holiday, so naturally the hotel was full and there were a lot of children around. In saying this the hotel is designed to accomodate for children and it dose it well with pool access and game for them as well. All ocean view rooms have great sight lines of the waterfront and a nice sized balcony for two people to watch. I can recommend watching the sunset from the rooftop bar or the beach.

Only one problem I encountered was the noise from the hall way, the walls between rooms are quiet so you will not hear your neighbours however once In the hallways you will hear the noise of bags and screaming children or yelling parents like they are in your room.

Breakfast was a good selection of both western and Asian foods however recommend you go early to beat crowds.

Location was good for families. Beautiful beach. Food was great. Free shuttle was a plus. Never understood how cleaning rooms worked. I was requesting a cleaning at 8 am and most of the time room was not cleaned till 4 pm even though they cleaned one room before or afer us or across from us ( this was every single day for 11 days in a row) sometimes our rooms were not cleaned at all even though we requested that service early in the morning. Cleaning quality was not good either, balcony was never cleaned in 11 days. Another thing we were not impressed was the line at the coffee machine in the morning and watering the flowers at the roof top or some balconies and dripping water on us while we were eating breakfast. I hope they improve this little things.

We stayed here over the Christmas break and although the hotel was at capacity we could not fault it. The staff, especially Quin at reception, was extremely helpful and kind. No question was left un answered and the hospitality staff were amazing. We did not have to wait very long for anything. Would definitely recommend this place again.

The fire show and the Foam Party was so much fun.

Our Phu Quoc getaway, anchored at Best Western Premier - Sonasea Phu Quoc, proved transformative. Situated on the island's southwest side, a brief 20-minute ride from the airport, it quickly evolved into our cherished family haven.

Major kudos to Ms. Trang, the stellar Front Desk maestro, and Mr. Long from the concierge tour desk – the true heroes of our adventure. Ms. Trang's personalized tour of fantastic villas and the coveted balcony suite gave us a sneak peek into future vacations, leaving us with numerous reasons to make this our go-to getaway.

The initial impression was nothing short of magical. The breezeway lobby adorned in Christmas splendor and the staff's efficient and welcoming nature set a tone of warm hospitality, initiating us with a complimentary beverage.

Our deluxe suite, a spacious 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment-style haven, exuded cleanliness and comfort. The room's impeccable sparkle and swift, top-notch housekeeping addressed any tweaks promptly.

The beds were a dream, granting us a sleep fit for royalty. Breakfast, always a winner, left a minor beef – the absence of their legendary banana bread every day. Despite this, the overall spread remained top-notch.

The pool emerged as the hero for our 9 and 11-year-old duo, who practically camped there, alternating between the main pool by the lobby and the 300-meter figure-eight pool leading to the beach pool. Pro tip: best swim times are early mornings and late afternoons till closing.

The hotel has a great vibe to it. The included breakfast is comprehensive and tasty.
The room was comfortable nicely appointed and had a lovely view from the balcony.
The staff were friendly, helpful and professional.

This is the third Christmas I stayed at this property. I must say, I think the service has slipped a bit, the staff at the front desk had limited English ability, and the quality of the Christmas Eve gala was nit as good as in previous years (no Turkey). That said, we still enjoyed the stay, great weather and good location make this an attractive option.

The place was clean and neat and staff generally friendly depending who you spoke to. We had an issue with our transfer initially as we did not realise we needed to book 24 hrs in advance. However, lady was gracious and helped get us on transfer.

There are a huge number of guests so if you don’t like crowds or queues find somewhere else. At the start of stay there were not enough lounges for pool or beach but towards end of our 6 night stay more lounges came in around beach. Still way too few lounges for pool considering the pool goes for about 300-400 metres (no exaggeration). Only had 2 kayaks for the near thousand guests which is ridiculous. No other free beach activities.

Room service was reasonably priced but buffets are a bit expensive. However that’s what you would expect.

No planned activities by the hotel. However, a shuttle is available to the night market. You need to book 24 hrs in advance. The hotel does not really advertise their services.

Free minibar for the stay (once used you gave to pay to replenish).

Overall considering price I would rate it a 7 out of 10. Definitely stayed at better luxury hotels. The crowds and the kaos at breakfast together with shortage of lounges lowers rating whilst the amazing pool and access to beach increases score. Needs work to be the level it desires but with time it may make it.

The hotel is still new so growing pains are expected, however managing vacancy & capacity is a basic management function that this hotel is lacking greatly. They weren’t prepared for the Christmas rush; from waiting an hour to be seated for dinner to no towels available in 4 different locations to even ordering food or drinks was a nightmare. On the other hand they were desperately trying to accommodate everyone but simply couldn’t. Breakfast was a disaster each morning & seeing the stress on the workers faces said it all. The facilities were great & setup for families, but again nowhere near enough pool lounge chairs or places to sit. I can’t even fathom how bad it will be over Lunar New Year! We would return only at Non-Peak times as the hotel is beautiful/comfortable, but after they’ve had more time to manage their own facility to give it another go, but hard to overlook what should be basic accommodations & functions at a 5* hotel.

Great hotel. Highly recommended for families.

My girlfriend and I visited the hotel during the peak season and was quite satisfied with our stay. The staff really go out their way to be there for you and for the most part everything we ordered or asked for was delivered quickly. The pools were super clean and so was the beach. Would probably mostly recommend this hotel to families with children.

Resort is beautiful and the beach right at the doorstep was very nice. Biggest disappointment was paying for a sea view room and not receiving one and when I talked to the front desk staff they told me it’s not guaranteed to receive one but they clearly had no issue with charging me the extra money per night
