While the hotel itself is stunning don’t let the flashy facade fool you. A 5* hotel with a 3* service.

This is a party hotel! Each area of the hotel has no idea who their target audience is!

POOL
Looks fantastic, unfortunately it’s cold. Whoever thought polished tiles next to a pool was a good idea, has clearly never walked here with wet feet. Absolutely lethal! However the painful rubber mats at the water edge are just the perfect “temporary” fix.

ROOM
Looks fantastic, bed is superb…. Once again polished marble floors in the bathroom and shower that would give an ice rink a run for its money.

FOOD
The food itself is excellent a compliment to each and every chef. However if you choose half board you’ll get access to a reduced menu (extremely reduced). The restaurants impose a “smart casual” rule. Open toed sandals not allowed UNLESS……. you’re wearing a Candora, or you push past the receptionist. However it’s okay to go in your gym clothes and shorts. One rule for one and one for another. Slow food service in all restaurants the top winner was 2 hours for a full service.

Harvester (breakfast and lunch) - good buffet breakfast - plenty of options all round excellent

Char (lunch and dinner) - extremely limited menu on half board - small portions - no vegetarian option available on the day we went. (They only have one option “roast butternut squash”) a substitute was offered off the full menu (one option only, mushroom gnocchi)

This hotel has 5*luxury but fails on so many other factors.
Limited half board options. In Char only 1 option for vegetarians which wasn't even available on one evening.
NOISE! No consideration for hotel guests. More interested in the 'vibe'. Events in the hotel until 3am which prohibited us from using the restaurant. NOISE around the pool.
If you want a relaxing hoilday this is NOT the hotel to book.

For 2 nights the lights behind the bed did not turn off, we had to call staff, they came could not fix and had to turn off all lights in room, they fix the light issue in 3rd day of our stay. It was inconvenient to be involved in fixing the room when you are in vacation!

The last night, there was a party, likely wedding party, there is no respect for guests privacy. The people need to rest at night. There was noise until 3 am. could not sleep until 3 am.

The breakfast was good, location is safe.

AMAZING !, EXCEPTIONAL HOTEL STAFF, FOR AN EXCEPTIONAL HOTEL. They made our stay unbelievable, the ONLY thing i can possibly critic about is, that they provide bar soap instead of hand wash liquid in the bathroom, and the pressure of the shower could have been better, but that is getting very picky. Otherwise this hotel has everything for every type of person. Will definately be revisiting, and be looking to stay in other W Hotels globally. Thankyou

The staff are totally amazing, so friendly and so attentive. The housekeeping team were first class and our room was always spotless when we returned each afternoon. There is a choice of restaurants although not extensive and the food is excellent.

My husband and I enjoyed our 3-nights stay at W Muscat. The reason we choose this hotel is it's closeness to Royal Opera House and good reviews. We've experienced ourselves a very good service from all the stuff members, especially Joel - the maneger of the front desk, Saddam - the manager at the restaurant and many other people who made our stay fantastic! Also, the amenities and decorations are very modern and appealing. We definitely want to come back one day.

If I could rate 10 stars, I would!
From beginning until the very end, I had the nicest stay.
Staff were extremely attentive and thoughtful- particularly Mahel, Batu and the concierge team!
Food options were great and of good quality.
Atmosphere was relaxing but also had a good balance over the weekend, with the pool and living room parties- a vibe!

After 12 nights here and as a 40+ yr old Solo western female I can honestly say that this hotel and irs super staff could not hace done anything more to make me feel comfortable and extremely welcome. W Hotels offers in house events and a music / design aesthetic which was so pleasing making staff feel great to be working there. I had some brilliant conversations with staff of all ranking and ages who really gave super service throughout. The pool / gardens area is very beautiful, safe for kids and extensive, the public beach access is direct onto a very popular friendly beach. A huge variety of eats available around the hotel in a very nice part of Muscat next to Opera House and the quality of food available at the hotel restaurants was in my experience very pleasing. I fell in love with Oman and the staff/ hotel have made it very easy to return.

This was one of the best vacations we had. The place is a small paradise in the beautiful landscape of Muscat. The W Muscat is absolutely amazing !
The staff, the cleanliness, the spacious room, the lovely pool, absolutely everything !!
We were there for one week with our 5 yr old son.
There were so many places to have lunch / dinner in the hotel and also many delicious restaurants and coffee places a few minutes walk away.
Aram coffee just around the corner was also convenient and perfect to feed delicious food and drinks to big and small people!
Top location.
One of the best hotel we ever stayed at.
We are already planning to go back!!

The hotel is very grand and chic. The pool is amazing and restaurants around are good.
What was disappointing is the food variations in the menu and beverages as well.

We had dinner at Buddha bar on the rooftop, the restaurant did not have the expected variations that you usually see in any W hotel.
The beverages also lacked the variations for eg we could not have a patron tequila due to unavailability. They only had one type only!

At the pool we wanted to have a regular club sandwich but instead they had a salmon club which was surprisingly odd. As they could not modify it for us.

The actual building is nice. The beds are worn out and you sleep on a slope because the mattress are so old and used. The restraunts are very limited in menu and actual taste. My best meal was when I went to PF Changs in mall. The prices are outrageous for the quality of food you get which is poor at best.

Check in was very late.....we arrived at 2.30pm but didn't get out room until just before 4 which is late considering how much you are paying to stay here. We wanted to spend the afternoon by the pool as the weather was so good but they had run out of towels and it then took 2 hours to get some clean towels. Bit of a disappointing start. The hotel is nice and the rooms very comfortable but it wasn't a good start to our stay so we probably won't ever stay here again. Also very slow check out!

Fantastic facilities and room-service needs work

A lovely hotel with fabulous facilities. We chose to stay here over Christmas Day and the following couple of days before heading home as a place to completely relax and unwind. The pool was incredible and the various options for poolside lounging were great and mixed it up. Please note it’s a very shallow pool.

The hotel is very modern and has some very cool features but certain things can definitely be improved on. The service mainly being one of them. The front desk staff and concierge were great. The poolside and breakfast staff were all great but just very unorganised. We witnessed several complaints being made. Poolside staff were incredibly friendly and polite but it took a long time for food/ drinks to arrive. It felt like all the poolside staff and breakfast staff run around everywhere rather than being assigned certain areas-just a bit chaotic and a mess.

Alongside this we asked for scales in our room-it took 4 phone calls and a trip to reception for it to arrive. We also requested different pillows which took almost 2 hours to arrive after being chased. I wouldn’t normally complain about these things but a 5 star establishment at this price should do better.

The hotel was very expensive and compared to other 5 star hotels we stayed at on this trip and although the facilities were great the service at the other hotels was noticeably better.

Actually, this place is a \"piece of art\" by all means! but few of the basics of hotel experience were missing:

1- shower temperature was fluctuating, it keeps on jumping from cold to hot water every time I showered which was very unpleasing.
2- even though I stayed only one night, room service never showed to change used towels and make up the sheets after our nap time.

I was a little disappointed for that price paid for this one night.

Beautiful but more to be desired for the price

Perhaps a little bit of controversial rating, as the hotel looks amazing, but had to take one star off for the atmosphere and value.

First, the good things and there are many. The design of the hotel is outstanding, from the entrance to the hotel rooms. Just what you would expect from the W and more. The rooms have the cool ultra modern artsy vibe, mixed with traditional Islamic style. Very spacious, superb bed, excellent amenities, nice bathroom. My room had a terrace with a sea view, though it was angled so don't expect to be drinking a cocktail and enjoy a full view of the sunset.

The pool is large and had been designed to have a Miami style chill and was supposed to be open 24 hours.

Here is why I took one star off. It seems like the property is trying too hard to be an exclusive scene-y place. I felt the emphasis is on the bar, club and the hotel is an add-on. I understand the concept, as I live in NYC and frequent Miami, but I am questioning the concept for Muscat. Not sure if it is because the hotel is new, but it also felt empty and slightly like a ghost place. The staff was also indifferent at most, except for the breakfast wait staff, who were fantastic. I went to the pool, which was deserted, had a tape at the entrance and good luck trying to find a towel or get a drink.

Overall, I did not feel very welcomed at the hotel and for $400 a night and $50 for breakfast, more is to be desired.

The building and the rooms are decent but the service is a huge let down for a 5 star hotel and especially for the W. Firstly they were extremely late organizing the room for check in. The check in time was 3 pm but the room was not ready by then and they were not helpful when I asked for an update on the room. When we asked the hotel to arrange a boat excursion, the concierge had quoted and informed us that they had booked a private tour only to find that they had booked a group tour when we arrived at the marina. We contacted the hotel multiple times to try and get in touch with the concierge so that they could sort out the booking but no one was helpful and they kept saying they would call us back but no one did. The service is abysmal. Choose a different 5 star property if you can.

Good location to explore the sights of Muscat.
The breakfast was disappointing though. At £32 per person per day you would expect far better in terms of options. For such a large hotel there were limited breakfast options. Far better to nip to a local cafe.
It's also not actually on the beach. It's by a dirty public beach which can be accessed by a short walk from the rear.
