It’s been quite some time since our last stay, and the property is still very well maintained. Even during Ramadan, the hotel was almost at full occupancy.

We requested connecting rooms but didn’t get them..instead, we were given two rooms next to each other. Unfortunately, the first-floor room we received had a disappointing view from the balcony. Apart from that, everything else was excellent..

The paid padel courts were booked most of the time, but the two tennis courts were available and we managed to reserve slots and use them without issue.. The pool was quite crowded in the mornings and afternoons, but it became very peaceful in the evenings, with the water pleasantly warm. We had a great great time there along with the kids..

We especially loved the easy access to the beach, as always. Although we didn’t swim in the sea, it was lovely for evening and early-morning strolls..

The staff were consistently outstanding; special thanks to Mr. Remeesh at Tomato restaurant for his exceptional service.. The breakfast spread at Musandam was impressive and very enjoyable..

Overall, a wonderful stay 👍

This was our second stay at the Muscat Intercontinental and this time again it was a very happy experience at every level: location, welcome, cleanliness, food, and importantly every single member of staff we dealt with. Too many to name but everyone at the reception desk, at The Musandam and other restaurants, at the Club Lounge. All faultlessly pleasant, professional and helpful.
All of this creates a gentle vibe and environment and we hope to visit again soon.

The room was amazing with a good view. Club lounge and staff were superb. The only thing stopping a 5 star rating was the service at breakfast and in the evening at the main restaurant, which was slow at times.

Staff were very accommodating and allowed for an early check in. Service staff were also very helpful and available.

The rooms were clean on a surface level but I did notice crevices and some other surfaces had some layers of dust and looked a bit aged.

I think the rooms could do with a refurb to really meet the 5 star standard you see elsewhere nowadays.

I visited during the National Day of Oman and found it very noisy and busy outside the hotel. Cars revving and horning in the town centre made it hard to sleep at times.

There is easy access to the beach via the rear of the property which is great. I would recommend the hotel solely on this basis. The pool facilities are also good.

The hotel was fantastic and in a really good location where you can enjoy the beach and you have restaurant and cafe options nearby for lunch and dinner (taxi's in Oman are very expensive). The room was so clean, spacious and comfortable, and the facilities were so good. The breakfast buffet was amazing with such a variety of options to eatnfrom fresh fruits to freshly cooked eggs. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. The stay overall was 10/10 and I would stay again!

Beautiful location, friendly staff, great breakfast options. However we were disturbed by appalling noise disturbance from partying in the on site pub on two occasions, which lasted until 2am wife and was made worse by the huge central atrium which amplified the noise and made sleep impossible. The pub was also home to several “ladies” who plied their “trade” in full view of the management without being stopped - hardly a 5* experience. The whole thing soured what was a lovely holiday.

We recently stayed at the InterContinental Muscat to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary, and it was one of the most memorable hotel experiences we have ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed so warmly and recognized as VIP guests, which immediately made us feel very special.
To our surprise and delight, our room was beautifully decorated with flowers, thoughtful snacks, and a delicious anniversary cake. This personal touch set the tone for a truly unforgettable holiday.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Shankar, Merilen, and Jemna for their outstanding care and attentiveness throughout our stay. We also want to recognize the wonderful Club Lounge team—Marian, Anna, Aliyaa, and many others whose names we may not recall—who consistently went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and at home. Their warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality made us feel like part of the InterContinental family.

The property is in a lovely area and next to the Opera House. The beach is a public beach and it would have been nice if you could use the beach a bit more i.e. with sunbeds etc. The staff are really lovely and cannot do enough for you. The housekeeping in the room was a little hit and miss, but always clean. A good selection of restaurants and also within easy walking distance of a small mall with coffee shops and outside restaurants if you don't want to eat in the hotel.

First time in Muscat. The hotel was nice, staff very friendly and helpful. I was attracted by the fact the hotel was on the beach. This was a public beach reached by passing through a fence keeping the hotel pool areas private. I am not a hotel pool person and having said that I did not find the outside facilities attractive. The room was very nice, there was a good sports bar like pub with sport on tv, snooker tables etc and the food was excellent. A selection for breakfast. .

Overall a lovely hotel with a few problems

Lovely hotel, right on beach in Muscat. Fantastic outdoor facilities: 2 pools, tennis court, etc. We stayed twice : first time was great, second time, the room had some maintenance issues(clogged drain and problems with ac). Though we pointed out the drain issue, it was not fixed during our stay. The restaurants are very expensive for the quality and quantity of good provided. Go around the corner for better food!!

Excellent level of service and attention to detail. It was a luxury having the lounge included in our stay and we enjoyed the wonderful hospitality and service throughout the whole hotel. Chef Austin from Scotland was a gem! And all of the team.
Pools were great, spa could do with a facelift but other than that a wonderful family holiday in a great hotel that we would recommend and definitely stay in again. Thank you all.

This IG hotel is a family resort style place in a quiet part of the Muscat city beach zone.
There are large hotel grounds with pools and a gym all lacking any type of useful directions.
The hotel has placed a large surcharge on local taxi rides and there is no local bus service so transport around the city is expensive.
The main problem with this hotel is the house-keeping service - poorly trained and understaffed - so any normal check in is very slow and often delayed due to rooms not being ready. The daily house-keeping is also slow and irregular.
The hotel may suit family groups looking for an inclusive resort but it is not suitable for business travel.

I like that u can access the public beach frm the back entrance and then straight to restaurants and cafes. There is also a food truck right at the beach. The jacuzzi and indoor facilities were a little run down. During winter time its nice to stay indoor using the facilities.

This hotel would have received 5/5 had the first customer experience at check-in was annoying especially at a 5 star hotel which was selected purely for the customer experience one would expect. At reception both members of staff were serving a customer. My son and I stood partially behind both people to approach the first available member of staff. A couple approached the front desk and stood next to my son as soon as the staff member behind the desk was free they approached her in the meantime another gentleman stood behind them to be served. Instead of acknowledging that we had been waiting in the queue the staff member not only served the couple but also the gentleman behind them before acknowledging us with no apology. Absolutely appalling and not a good first impression.

Great value for money

Excellent old school hotel. Fully refurbished on the inside with a wonderful, huge open lobby space. The outside facilities need a bit of a paint job maybe (also the inside roof), but otherwise, a great place to stay. Breakfast is very nice, there is a great lap pool in addition to a normal pool, an excellent fully equipped gym (one of the best I've seen in hotels), and some nice dining options.

They were short on seating, plates, glasses, and always out of drinks. Both mornings we had nothing to drink at breakfast. Only one morning we managed to get a coffee.

A pleasurable place to stay

Other than the slowness of checkin and no coffee during the wait was a very pleasurable stay. The hotel is as ugly as can be from the outside but works very well inside. The staff are excellent and the rooms are good. The balconies are more narrow than one would like but on request some small chairs were placed. The Club area has good food and drink albeit that the furnishings are sparse. A good pool and direct access to the beach. Breakfast is very good. Downside is noise niusance from the W hotel next door. to 01:30 on a Friday night.

Sustainability effort in the right direction

It was so nice to find refillable glass bottles with water for the room in the minibar. I appreciate this effort as it is far more sustainable than giving plastic water bottles! The staff were all extremely helpful, kind and friendly. The hotel is neat, clean and very well maintained. We enjoyed our stay and will return in future!

After a week in Oman and I had looked at a couple of the other large hotels before my stay in the Intercontinental, I wish I had stayed at the Crown Plaza or the W . The location of the Intercontinental is great though close to the Opera house

A fabulous week at the Intercontinental. The staff are outstanding, friendly and helpful - particularly in the club lounge. Rooms were to a high standard and very comfortable. A great variety of dining options - we tried all of them and particularly enjoyed Takara and Trader Vics. Easy access to the beach which was a lovely evening walk. Highly recommend.

3 nights in November for some sunshine and relaxation prior to starting a trip. Very comfortable room, great breakfast, lovely pool area, variety fo restaurants.
But, lots of party noise from the rooftop restaurant of W Muscat hotel next door (InterContinental kindly moved me to another room); the main hotel building is strangely disconnected from the pool areas (perhaps because it is principally a business hotel with holiday facilities tagged on?); no alcohol free beer available.
