Hotel itself was nice, had charm. Still undergoing some renovation work, but didn't really affect my stay. Hotel took £200 deposit for room expenses, whuch I spent very little of. Over 2 weeks since my visit and I am still waiting for it to be refunded to me, which I think is very unreasonable.

Only comment is that there was no power point where the coffee/tea making facilities were to plug the kettle in. Had to use the one near the desk.

Also would be helpful to have extra power points near the bed. Given most charging cables are now USB ports, I'm surprised given the recent refurbishment of the hotel that these weren't added.

When in Muscat, I always stay at Grand Hyatt. The food, the view, and most of all the staff create a warm and welcoming environment. Parth is the waiter in the lounge and is so kind, helpful, and provides excellent service. Abdullah was at breakfast and remembered our coffee choices daily. Beautiful country and beautiful people.

The hotel is beautiful and the word 'grand' sums it up. The newly refurbished swimming pool is excellent and the beach is lovely with a nice warm sea. We emailed the hotel before our stay to ask regarding gluten free options for breakfast. It was pleasing that April (assistant manager) remembered the email exchange and was looking out for us.

We arrived after a late night flight. The staff was very friendly professional and accommodating with our late arrival request. The hotel itself was in a quiet area, pool access and beach access with a walkable trail. The room was clean and cleaning staff always provided good service and requests.
The breakfast menu was great with healthy options. Shabnam was very accommodating with our breakfast request every day during our 6 night stay. Thank you for the help and being kind and professional. Overall our stay was amazing due to the staff and property.

Big disappointment and mismanagement

Well, during and after booking the hotel it wasn’t mentioned by any means that the hotel is going through reconstruction. The whole pool area appeared to be a construction zone fully closed. Reception moved to the 4th floor, most restaurants not working, access to the beach from the side door. During check-in they handed me a piece of paper with all these details, offering a transfer to another hotel away from the sea for the pool. Very inconvenient. They should have closed this place completely and open it after renovation is done. Total screw-up.

The property and rooms are tired with a much needed renovation in progress. The pool and garden area is closed while undergoing the renovation, so expecting the place to be much better once this is completed. The rooms we were assigned could also use some renovation as there was cracked caulking around the tub and shower and green water staining on plumbing fixtures. Carpets could also stand to be replaced. Rooms were nice and comfortable, however.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful especially the staff at the Mokha Cafe during the breakfast buffet. They went above and beyond to make our breakfast experience the shining star of our stay there. I want to especially single out our server Abdullah T. who greeted us every morning with a warm smile and friendly air. He remembered our coffee orders from the first day and provided them upon arrival. He was absolutely the best and helped make our visit to Oman one the most memorable and positive holidays I have had in a long while.

The Grand Hyatt's location to the beach walk is another reason to select this Hotel despite the ongoing renovation. I did not miss not having a pool as we spent a lot of time on the beach and swimming in the gulf. Easy walk to some very amazing eateries, especially Mado in the Waterfront Shopping plaza.

Hotel is under complete renovation process.all major facilities destroyed. The room itself is perfect. But u only pay for the room. All the rest is not there anymore. Plus you get a complimentary construction site noise all day around. I immediately checked out but the property charged me 1 night🔥

My family and I recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt Muscat and it was a great experience! It was our first family trip after having our baby and the staff was AMAZING! Everyone was so kind and accommodating. The hotel is very charming and welcoming. You can tell that it is a bit older but not in a negative way. All facilities were clean and easy to use. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family!

This is listed as a 5 Star hotel but to be honest, maybe it was ten to fifteen years ago. The hotel is very dated and it's not exactly 'beach-fronted' as advertised! The beach is public, not looked after, and completely separate from the hotel. I arrived off an overnight flight and the first thing the reception staff asked me was if I was a Hyatt member. I told him no, he asked did I want to sign up…no, what I want is my bed and something to eat. He told me that my booking didn’t include breakfast which it did! when I told him this he said he couldn’t see it on the system and that I would have to pay. I was also told that the breakfast didn’t start until the following day even though I arrived at the hotel at 8am!
They made no effort to use discretion or be flexible to a new guest, considering I’d just come off an overnight flight and the hotel was dead!

The room was clean and fine – no issues there. One thing I would say however, is that they have only one plug socket (for international plugs) which is all the way on the other side of the room. So you cannot plug any devices in, such as your phone or laptop, by the bedside.
The concierge tried their best but were not very knowledgeable regarding tours and trips. I ended up finding a tour agent in a coffee shop!

The breakfast setting was outside with no view of anything as there was tarpaulin everywhere and the dining area was dated. The food very average.

The hotel is located at a beach front. Easy acces to beach and 5 minutes walk to a small mall called Water Front. Grand Hyatt staff is professional and polite at all times. Rooms are clean and well maintained but the mattress and pillows are too soft. Need to change that. Other than that it was a fantastic family holiday!

This hotel was recommended to us by someone who has visited numerous times and really enjoyed their stays, so we booked here specially. It was an absolutely beautiful property, very conveniently located, had friendly staff (especially Mahmoud), was clean, accommodating, and safe/peaceful. We cannot wait to come again and would definitely recommend this hotel to others. We also really appreciated the traditional art work, antique doors/windows, and vibrant cultural influences all around the building. Staying here made our stay in Muscat that much more enjoyable. \"Grand\" indeed! But a bit isolated without a car

\"Grand\" indeed! Gorgeous marble and stone everywhere.
Renovation work off to the side of the main reception desk should be over soon. The rest of the hotel was fine.

My room was comfy, and the central pool area between wings of the hotel is sheltered and relaxing. (Try to get a room overlooking the CENTRAL garden, if possible. Mine looked at a dusty backside tennis court and utility area. There was sea beyond that, however.)

As an alternative to the pricey breakfast buffet, the nearby French Bakery is one of the few off-site food venues. It has a variety of food besides coffee and pastries and is open till late.

If one has a car, it's a fine location (Shati Al-Qurum). If one doesn't, getting around is all by taxi, and there are few services or dining options within easy walking distance in this diplomatic quarter.

A relaxing, full-service get-away if a family just wants a self-contained vacation resort and is happy to pay more for in-hotel meals.

Its also right on the beach which is nice to get away from the hotel. Otherwise there isn't much around, you need to get taxis if you want to go anywhere.

The Grand Hyatt is a great place to stay in Muscat. While it is a distance from major roads, it is on the beach and has a nice pool. The staff, from Rakeesh running the breakfast buffet to the GM are committed to doing a great job for their guests. I'd stay here again.

A grand old Lady who is very run down in areas

The Grand Hyatt Muscat has the bones of a grand old Omani Treasure. The architecture and ambiance of the reception and atrium area are stunning and convey a rich charm. The rooms are very comfortable, however the hotel has become very run down in areas. Our toilet did not flush... so we had to use the public toilets in the atrium. The pool and outdoor area was in a terrible state. There were many mosaic tiles missing from the bottom of the pool creating a real hazard for toes. The tiles and finishing around the edges were all cracked and peeling and coming away. Fascia boards at the pool bar were all coming away and were in terrible disrepair and the pool bar was looking very tired like you would see in an abandoned hotel. It was quite a shambles. Certainly not something that I would expect from such a great brand as Hyatt. Suggest the Hyatt executive get down and take a look and allocate some budget to a smarten up. Aside from that, the reception and concierge service was great - very friendly and welcoming.

I never leave reviews but this was the best hotel I have ever stayed in and I feel like we have stayed in some lovely places. The downside is everything is at least double the price of outside hotel prices but if you can get out to buy amenities or your little extras (ours was a Diet Coke!) then it’s no issue. Lots of water was provided, breakfast kept us going until dinner and was amazing! Pool beautiful. Staff were so lovely and helpful. Gym excellent and great facilities if you need to shower before a late flight. Clean, tidy. Just wonderful

The grand hyatt Muscat is a very famous hotel with a superb reputation. The pool is amazing and the interior design is very luxurious and regal. The staff are super friendly too! The only thing I would suggest as an improvement is to have electricity sockets by the bedside rather than on the other side of the room from the bed.

Not worth the price and time

The team who took care of my car parking was very good, the provided parking next to a power plug. The good points ends there. The hotel is clearly understaffed, the towels are changed every 4 days(!!) - covid excuse but charging same price. For several times I called Reception or room service and nobody picks the phone. I asked for towels and water, nobody showed up and I was ashamed to put my family on this hotel.
Finally, the food prices are ridiculously high. A soft drink in this hotel is 50% higher than similar hotels in UAE, which generally has high prices. The breakfast was subpar for the price. There was a single Waiter in the pool area, he was working very hard.
Finally, in this hotel there are no lifeguards for kids, which for me was the nail in the coffin. I was so dissatisfied with my money badly spent on this place that I was wondering why I took my family out of our home for this.

This place has gone down hill fast, from the swimming pool to the brunch. There are MUCH better values in Muscat and overall service didn't save the place either. No housekeeping after 2 nights, was told pool bar was open and it wasn't (in fact algae under the pool bar areas) and staff are basically the level of a 2 star hotel. Never staying here again with so many better options nearby

You can tell the hotel was once something very special, but it is in need of a renovation if I must pick a negative.
Our room was very spacious but very dimly lit and the worst thing was the damp like smell in the room. I had to make sure to use extra perfume because I'm sure the smell got stuck in my clothes.
I don't mean to sound picky, but bathroom could most definitely have been cleaned better.
We did however have a good iron for hotel room standards.
The breakfast was ok.
The pool area was pleasing.
My only real \"complaints\" here are regarding the condition of the hotel, but i must say that the staff were really wonderful!!
Overall, i definitely wouldn't say this is a 5star hotel, but it was hardly a terrible stay either, just not 5 star.

the worst experience i have ever had

it was my worst experience that i have ever had for staying in 5 stars hotel.i stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks. first of all they forced me to take quarantine package invoice price was more than what they told me in check in time.
every time that we asked to bring us something they bring everything except what i asked. home service did not changed the towels every day after our quarantine finished. each time we should ask to change slippers or towels. tea bags and coffee did not charged till we asked. there wasn't any spoon glass or knife at room!!!
they have buffet breakfast only on Friday and Saturday and other days you should order breakfast from their MENU! and it took too much time that order get ready.
Their front desk didn't know that their club is open or not. they told me it's closed but it was open! and so many other small things that make me really nervous and sad.
the only point of this hotel is their beautiful building and garden

Food was absolutely pathetic on Full Board. But the packing in a paper bag was so damn abusive instead of hot trolley that other hotels in Muscat like Ramada Encore are offering during Covid-19 that I would never come back to this hotel. Staff at reception was very impolite to requests. Terrible mannerism. They all need training course on how to treat guests. Cheaper staff at 5* hotel is obviously the reason. You give bananas you get .......

Unfortunately, there was a pervasive smell of mold that made our stay there quite unpleasant, so we had to open the windows in an attempt to alleviate the effects, to moderate success. A very arty hotel

This hotel is in a desperate need of a full refurbishment he swimming pool has huge cracks in the walls and the swim up bar has peeling paint and cracks everywhere
The staff are not trained very well so asking for anything is a very difficult task ! The bedrooms are comfortable and clean but the water in the bathroom is Luke warm and has no pressure in the shower would not recommend this hotel I am afteaid

Very good: bed (soft for my taste but will suit most people well), common area carpets are worn which detracts from the overall impression.
Good: beach does not have loungers or umbrellas
Not good: very few electrical outlets and no USB ports

Overall, my three night stay was excellent. The hotel is a lot like a resort property which is nice. I would recommend it to others happily. The hotel is over 40 years of age, which means it has a lot of character. I personally found it quite charming.

Excellent location by the sea and corniche. Beautiful architecture, furnishings, landscaping, and outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Fantastic breakfast buffet with sweet and savory items and different hot plates each morning. Clean spacious rooms. I would stay here again.

The property overcharged us for a breakfast we did not have claiming that expedia got the money and cannot be refunded. The rates are over charged compared to better places in muscat of the same class.

Excellent hotel and very comfortable

Hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms were very comfortable but a bit tired. Good and beverages were excellent. Avoid the hair salon which is very expensive and not up to 5* standards. The pool area is lovely - only a limited number of beds in direct sun so if you like to be by the pool and in the shade it is perfect. Overall, an excellent stay.

well located - way too much security and screening. It was crazy, not even taxis could access to it.

Staff is nice, but time of reaction are not the best. Pool was crowded and bar is really expensive (45 USD for two cocktails).

Excellent hotel and would highly recommend. Only criticism was the air conditioner. Was extremely cold in all the restaurants. Luckily we could eat outdoors.

i didn't like the first impression I have met,
I was ignored when I have arrived and after I checked in ,I am the one who has lift my bag from the car with no help .
I already explained this to their reception manager Abeer and have asked them that I would like to call the hotel G. Manager to explain the way I have been treated ,they promised and agreed that he will call me next day between 8 -10 am .till today no one called.
