a great beautiful property with a big time staff problem - not sure this a widespread Oman issue - it could be but i didnt try any other hotels in Oman, so i dont really know.
There is a staggering difference in staff professionalism and client awareness from the MO Oman and the MO Abu Dhabi - which i assign solely to the blatant lack of training of most of the staff - not that they didnt try to do the best they could at all times, which they did, and we have to be grateful for it, but the blunders are widespread at all levels of the hotel. Also the Oman property had clearly less space to develop than others that have been there for many years and as a result the whole place feels crammed into a nudge of available land - the residencies section getting more of space then the hotel itself (this was clearly a business decision that will come back to bite them. MO needs to look at this property with concern, provide more training and conduct a detailed investigation at how all sections of the hotel are working,
My suggestion: try other larger older properties in the immediate neighborhood (they have the Intercon and the W nearby) or go for the Grand Dame of Oman - yes older but still has it... The Chedi. Dear Mandarin Oriental: your Oman property is going to lag behind if you dont fix it

Our stay at the Mandarin Oriental Muscat was exceptional — it’s a special hotel that perfectly combines understated luxury with genuine warmth.

The rooms are stunning — beautifully designed, with the most comfortable beds and lovely products. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice, and the pool area was gorgeous — spacious cabanas (which are free to use!) and very attentive service, with staff always quick to bring water and towels. The gym was excellent too — high-spec machines, cold towels and water on hand, everything you could want. The spa area is nice with lovely changing rooms and a steam room but it could make even better use of the space with perhaps some wellness activities like yoga in future.

We had access to the Club Lounge from our second night, which was a real highlight. Afternoon tea was a lovely way to unwind from the sun, and the cocktails between 5–7 were fabulous. The service here — and throughout the hotel — was truly standout.

A particularly special touch was the way the team recognised my mum’s retirement — with a beautiful card, cake, and a lovely arrangement of dates and figs. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and the staff went out of their way to congratulate her on this milestone.

We left with full hearts and wonderful memories — thank you to everyone at the Mandarin Oriental Muscat for such an unforgettable stay. We can’t wait to return.

I recently stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Muscat and it was an unforgettable experience. Every detail was impeccable, but what truly made my holiday special was the outstanding service from the team. Maryam and Sarah Jane made every breakfast a delight with their warmth and attention to detail. By the pool, Humprey went above and beyond to ensure we were always comfortable and well looked after. A special mention to Madai at Essenza restaurant, who made our dining experience truly memorable with exceptional recommendations and genuine hospitality

Be careful at the checkin the lady told us that the restaurant is close and push us to go to have late lunch outside seems very strange to me so I went to check at the restaurant and it was open ..

Die Präsidenten Suite war sehr geräumig und sauber.
Das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.
Wir waren leider nur einen Tag hier und haben ein Upgrade bekommen auf diese wunderschöne Suite.
Die Gegend hat uns auch sehr gut gefallen.
Viele Restaurants gibt es in der Nähe.
Es war einfach wunderschön.

I had the pleasure of spending nine days in this magnificent seaside property, beautifully located and refined in every detail. The décor is exquisite.

The generous upgrade added a remarkable touch to our stay.

What truly distinguished this experience, was the consistently impeccable service we received throughout the hotel.

My heartfelt thanks go first and foremost to Martino Del Buono, whose professionalism, discretion and gracious attention set the tone for our entire stay.

I would also like to acknowledge the team members for their warm and attentive service and management, as well as Susil, whose care and dedication were deeply appreciated.

We greatly enjoyed the lounge at sunset, along with the variety of atmospheres offered by the bars and restaurants, all serving truly delicious dishes.

I travelled with my family, and we are unanimous in our appreciation.

I highly recommend this exceptional property and will certainly return.

Fantastisk ophold på Mandarin Oriental Muscat

Vi har netop haft et vidunderligt ophold på Mandarin Oriental Muscat i hele 6 dage, og det overgik virkelig alle vores forventninger. Servicen var helt i top, og personalet var utrolig servicemindede og imødekommende - vi følte os virkelig velkomne hele vejen igennem vores ophold.

Vi nød den lækre morgenmad i TwoThree58 Club, hvor der var et imponerende udvalg af retter. Om aftenen havde vi også fornøjelsen af at smage deres cocktails og canapéer, som var en skøn måde at afslutte dagen på.

Hotellets pool og strandområde var absolut fantastiske. Selvom stranden var offentlig, blev vi stadig serviceret af hotellets venlige personale, hvilket gjorde vores oplevelse endnu bedre.

Alt i alt var vores ophold en uforglemmelig oplevelse, og vi ser allerede frem til at besøge Mandarin Oriental Muscat igen.
