The rooms and property exceeded my expectations. Well maintained and beautifully appointed. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. The property is on the hillside giving gorgeous views. I was nervous about dragging my suitcase up the hill but I was met in the parking area and everything was taken care of for me proactively. They have a lovely bar/restaurant area with a good selection of food and wine. You can't go wrong booking this wonderful property.

George and his fantastic team make for such an amazing holiday. The service is superb and they remember returning guests with a genuine touch. The Blue Moon restaurant which forms part of the hotel serves high quality food incl a made to order breakfast incl fruit, yogurt, honey, eggs etc.

The staff and family who run the hotel go above and beyond for everyone, no detail missed. Nothing is too much trouble and they offer services before you even ask. Spotlessly clean. Food amazing. The hotel and rooms are just stunning.
We were worried we might be a little far from restaurants and bars but the local village is just perfection, with a livelier strip within easy walking distance. Wouldn't change a thing.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Creta Blue Boutique Hotel from March 27-april 7 2025 to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and our experience was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, the warm hospitality provided by George, the owner, was truly exceptional.

George went above and beyond to ensure our stay was seamless and enjoyable, arranging transportation to and from the airport, organizing a rental car, and providing a comprehensive guide to explore the breathtaking island of Crete. His dedication to making us feel welcome and cared for at this charming, family-owned boutique hotel.

The accommodations exceeded our expectations. Our luxurious room featured a beautifully updated bathroom, a spacious living area, and a private balcony that offered stunning views of both the pool and the ocean. The elegant design and attention to detail created a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.

We stayed for 11 nights, and every moment was filled with joy and tranquility. The Creta Blue Boutique Hotel is truly a hidden gem that combines personalized service with exquisite accommodations, and it made our anniversary celebration an unforgettable experience. Beautiful place, lovely welcoming owner and staff. Great pool, bar, restaurant area. Wonderful food.
Only downside was the trek up the hill to our room as we were at the very top. Beautiful room but not used much. But then you don’t go on holiday to sit in the room!

I absolutely loved my stay at Creta Blue. I stayed in one of the adult only rooms that had a hot tub on the terrace, overlooking the sea and it was simply magical. The communication and service with hotel staff was easy as can be and everyone was very helpful. I can't recommend this hotel enough!

Quiet and relaxing property up on the cliffs about 25 minutes outside of Heraklion. Great place to get away from the noise and traffic of the city. The rooms are some of the most spacious you will find in the area for the price they offer, although not as modern as the pictures show and a few of the sea view balcony rooms may have their view blocked by the building. There is also not a lot of parking, and you will have to walk up the hill to the rooms, so it's not ideal for anyone out of shape or disabled. I would say for the price, it's an excellent choice for anyone looking for a quiet stay, and there are actually multiple amazing restaurants within walking distance in the quaint and beautiful town of Hersonissos. The pool is also well kept and clean, and the staff is highly accommodating.

We stayed here with our 18month old and they made us feel like family. Nothing was to much trouble. The village was a 5minute walk away with wonderful restaurants and cute shops. We stayed here and on the beach, for an authentic stay in Crete, little could beat this.

Creta Blue is absolutely STUNNING! We were greeted by George the owner of the hotel who is incredibly kind and gracious. You can tell that this hotel is more than a family business, it is a passion project with no details spared. The staff here is wonderful and they really make you feel so comfortable. The rooms are beautiful and it is clear they put a lot of effort into the decor. It feels like a slice of heaven. The views of the ocean are 180 degrees.
We had dinner at the restaurant which was fantastic. I highly recommend the shrimp Sagnaki! I would have no hesitation booking this place. It was the nicest accommodation we had in our 2 weeks in Greece!

Creta Blue was a fabulous property run by George and Helen. The view was breathtaking and the rooms were clean and all had balconies and terraces to enjoy the soft music, the pool and watch everyone relaxing with friends. The restaurant ( Blue Moon ) was right there to enjoy the cuisine. They had specialty nights with BBQ and incredible Greek cuisine. We felt safe and appreciated. George was especially knowledgeable and professional. The cleaning staff was efficient and friendly. You can tell they are well taken care of by the management. It was a romantic getaway at a very good price point. Thankyou to everyone who made our trip a fond memory. We flew 10 hours for this experience and is highly recommended. The service given was fleeting but the memories last forever.

Creta Blue Boutique Hotel

Absolutely fabulous place to stay. We had a lovely suite tucked around the back, so was very tranquil. Stunning infinity pool.
The hotel is up a steep hill but this means the view is fabulous. The traditional village of Koutoulafari is only 5 or so minutes walk down the hill- laden with traditional tavernas, souvenir shops, a mini golf, car hire places as well as cocktail bars etc.
We chose half board which was served at The Blue Moon Restaurant attached to the hotel. The food was amazing.. fresh produce, local meats etc. The waitress Lavinia is the star of the restaurant.

An absolutely beautiful property, our room was perfect, so reasonably priced, the food was divine, they even went above and beyond making me special vegetarian dishes to make sure I had more choice than originally on the menu but what really made this property so lovely for us was the unbelievably kind hearted and special staff. All so lovely, and warm and made us feel so at home from day one. We will be back ASAP!!

I’ve found “My Perfect Place”

The Hotel was nothing short of “OUTSTANDING” and I’m certainly not the easiest person to please…
From the actual moment of arrival until the moment we sadly had to leave… I would describe it as “Perfect”…
There are good reasons why this hotel is rated as highly as it is & why most of the other guests had been “Returners” - returning year after year…
George & his whole TEAM, and in particular in our case the front of house staff: Kostas, Lavinia & Erina were the perfect hosts.
Working tirelessly to ensure you as the customer enjoyed an extremely relaxing and enjoyable holiday, while remaining polite, courteous, highly efficient at what they do.
The genuine warmth & friendliness of the Greek people is felt as I said almost immediately. In summary I couldn’t recommend a better place to relax, unwind and let the genuine hospitality simply blow you away…

Lovely hotel with super staff and excellent lunches and evening meals available. Beautiful views, pool and relaxation area around pool. All very clean and well cared for.The inclusive breakfast was quite minimal (bread, egg, fruit,yoghurt, juice, tea/coffee; but additional items are available at extra cost. Future visitors need to be aware that the hotel is built into the side of a hill, meaning that you need to be pretty fit to stay here! There is a steep climb to the rooms and most also have steps to climb; no lift. There is also a fairly steep climb up from the village, which is partly unlit, so you need a torch. We would advise booking transfer from the airport via the hotel as some providers send vehicles which cannot actually access the hotel. George, the owner, was very helpful to us in this respect, taking us down to get our transport back in his car, for which we are very grateful!

Booked last minute due to ferry cancellation. Up a stepp hill but well signed. Arrived early and were offered to wait in bar by the pool until room prepared, earlier than advertised check in. Incredibly friendly and hospitable staff, amazingly good home made food and great atmosphere with all guests welcomed and friendly suggestions for events and things to do. Also amazing views across the bay and pleasantly quiet a short walk from everything.

Very welcoming hotel close to Koutouloufari, ideal for couples and possibly small families. Lovely food and staff were so friendly and helpful. Our particular room was quite small but pleasant. We had a comfortable super king size bed for us but the sofa bed for our daughter was in our view, unacceptable; basically a cotton sheet over a standard sofa, no pullout mattress. She was very uncomfortable and actually ended up sleeping with us 4 nights out of 7 which wasn’t great for sound sleeping. Lovely large bathroom and spotlessly clean throughout. Great that aircon was included in the price. We would return but would try to book a room with a second proper bed, if that was an option. Definitely pitched at couples rather than families although children are made very welcome. I would say it’s a good 3 Star rather than 4 by UK standards however there are luxury rooms available that would provide the 4 star quality. Great last minute find.

George the manager should be commended for creating an atmosphere of first class service amongst all of the staff we came into contact with. We were made to feel welcome and special nothing was too much trouble in a relaxed and friendly way. All the meals we ate were delicious fresh cooked with local ingredients. As ours was an evening flight we were allowed to keep our room until six in the evening at no extra cost, as an experienced hotel guest this does not usually happen in any of the hotels I have stayed in but demonstrated one of the ways our needs were met. We will be staying at the hotel again and deem ourselves lucky to have discovered such a gem.

Overall our stay was fantastic. On arrival, George (the owner) greeted us before we'd even stepped out of the taxi! Room had a great view, pool was really nice and all of the staff were very friendly. Great location - 5 mins walk to the village so it's nice and quiet, and in the village there are lots of great places to eat. We loved it and are already wondering when we can come back!

Beautiful hotel with amazing views and staff

We stayed at the luxury spa suite in a separate villa with the hot tub on the balcony. You are on a hill but the views afforded from the pool and balcony are well worth it. A panoramic view of the sea and town below is backed up superbly by the mountains behind the hotel. The staff are amazing and really friendly, down to the cleaner who is really talkative and full of advice. Koutalafri is a small village next to you which is much better than the Hersonossis in our view. It's full of restaurants and taverns with a great vibe and better food.

Beautiful Hotel with Amazing Service

I travelled with my teenage daughters to Crete and spent nine nights in this beautiful hotel. I was nervous about traveling internationally alone with my girls, but once we arrived, I felt like a part of George's family. He and his staff make any effort to make everyone feel at home. The location was great. The food in the restaurant was amazing. George helped us rent a car, arranged airport pick up and helped us plan our days. We made many memories and I would not hesitate recommending this hotel to anyone. I can't say enough good things!!!

If you plan to stay by the pool and surrounding area, a car is not necessary. If you plan to go into town or the local beach or travel anywhere on this incredibly beautiful island, renting a car is a must. A taxi from the airport was 45 euros each way, cost to rent a car was 150 ever Uris for four days. We m emotion this because we did not read a review that suggested renting a car. The hotel is quiet, clean and the staff are pleasant and accommodating. Our room was clean, cool and comfortable. The pool was a little murky for some reason, which was surprising because it looked clean.

The owner of this establishment gets an A+. George and the staff could not have been more helpful with providing us with touring plans and the food is fabulous. When we return to Crete we will stay there and probably spend more time at this lovely peaceful hotel and less time touring.

Barman put nibbles out then charged us at the end of the week ... six crisps in a tiny bowl .. The extras add up , and the service wasn't great ..polite but dizzy expensive for what it is , on the walk up to our room was horrendous , so steep

Incredible hotel I cannot speak highly enough of.

We stayed in the Creta Blue for a week at the beginning of May 2017 and without hesitation I will recommend this hotel to everyone wanting to visit Crete.

Location wise, you are 20-30 minutes walking distance of Hersonissos in which is a lovely town offering numerous restaurants, bars, shops and beaches with numerous activities available. Koutloufari is the village in which is beside the hotel and where we found ourselves a lot of our trip. An authentic Greek culture with amazing restaurants and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere everywhere you go.

The hotel itself I cannot do justice. In my own personal experience, I have not experienced such a personal and welcoming hotel anywhere in Europe and I can see why they have returning guests as we shall hopefully look to be. You are made to feel comfortable with a view you can only dream of, in luxury rooms and exquisite food. The hotel is situated on top of a steep hill in which is not ideal but obviously if you want the best views, you need to be in the hills, overseeing the Aegean sea and looking down on Hersonissos and beyond. Totally worth it!

We very much appreciated everything the hotel did for us, George was an absolute pleasure to deal with and would do anything to assist you or help you make your stay in Crete the best, along with the rest of the staff. I can only speak from my own experience but given the choice I would not even bother to look elsewhere when visiting Crete again, Creta Blue ticked every single box.

This pristine hotel is set on a hillside in koutouloufari, a small traditional village overlooking Hersonissos.

The owner George and his staff are keeping the old ways of Greek traditional hospitality alive and Lavinia was the perfect hostess for a friendly, relaxed, delicious breakfast to set you up for the day. Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff had a friendly smile for us whenever we met.

Just two small words of warning!

The suites are set on a steep hillside so if you have mobility issues I would suggest requesting some of the suites close to the pool which are more accessible.

Also, if like us you hire a car from the airport and make your own way there the suites are found along a very narrow series of streets which can be difficult to negotiate even in a small car. We had to call George to come and find us and lead us to the suites as we would have struggled to find them otherwise. George, ever the most amazing host, came out straight away and found us lost in the middle of hersonissos.

We had THE most relaxing stay in this quiet, friendly area.

Lovely break

Very nice stay with fantastic views down to the sea. We were at the top of the complex which involved a very step walk up to the apartment. Not for the elderly or infirm. Hersonissos was not to our liking as akin to Benidorm and the beaches were awful however a short drive away are fantastic beaches so all was not lost. Koutouloufari village where Creta Blue hotel is far exceeded our expectations and had plenty of bars and wonderful restaurants. George and his staff at Creta Blue were warm and welcoming.

Wonderful Greek hotel

The creta blu is a wonderful place for a holiday. It is comfortable and spotlessly clean and you can do as little or as much as you want. It is situated up a narrow lane and the area is very hilly so it's not great for those with mobility problems or families with buggies. But it is a haven away from the hustle and bustle of the resort below and if you hire a car it's a great base for exploring crete.

small relaxing hotel in a lovely village

A truly relaxing small hotel where the staff (including the owner) were so friendly and helpful. Clean, simple and basic but everything you need for a relaxed feel. 20 minute walk down to the beach where there are some nice bars and restaurants. (We went in September but I can imagine that in the height of summer it gets very busy and there is a strip of bars etc which we avoided.) The 2 minute stroll into the village where there were so many fabulous eateries. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. My only negative comments about the hotel are perhaps the breakfast would be improved - disappointed with the fruit selection (and sometimes quality) and the coffee was awful! Perhaps individual cafetieres of coffee would be a simple solution. Perhaps also the bathroom could be modernised - a little dated and tired looking.
Overall I came away from a week of sitting by the pool feeling very relaxed. I would definitely return.

We had a very peaceful week here. The staff are v friendly especially the ladies in the bar/restaurant. Lovely views from balcony and pool. Perfect if u want to get away from it all but be close enough to a small village with plenty of tavernas and gift shops in the evening to explore

Simply splendid

The Creta Blue has a majestic setting on the hillside overlooking the coast. The serenity of the location and the magnificent views is only excelled by the warmth of the staff in this family run business. Having arrived at 01:30 to be greeted by two friendly staff who offered bottles of cool water and assisted with luggage was just the start. The staff from cleaners to Georgious the manager were all excellent, friendly and professional, but in a casual manner..
This hidden gem of this hotel is a superb restaurant with a wide variety of choice and \"Helena's specials\"- just start at the top of the menu and work down is my recommendation! Everything is delicious.
The rooms are well presented with all the required essentials and some little extras such as a fridge which makes all the difference. Beds and linen were regularly changed and the rooms were spotless.

amazing holiday destination and hotel!

I'm always a bit nervous about picking a hotel that I've never been to be before; is it going to be nice? Is it going to look like it does on the website? Or am I going to be totally fooled into spending a lot of money on a horrible place where we're are then stuck for a week.
In short, Creta Blue boutique hotel was amazing. The location is stunning with the infinity pool looking right out to sea and the restaurant overlooking the hill below. The staff simply couldn't do enough for you and were always so friendly! Food was incredible, in our opinion, the best meal we had in the village was at the hotel- good wholesome home cooked food! The atmosphere for the most part was chilled and relaxing.
We booked one of the cheaper rooms (we were on a budget!) but it still had a king size bed, free tea and coffee in the mini kitchen, air con and fresh towels daily. All in all, a great holiday and we will definitely be back!

Lovely hotel & staff

The hotel is lovely, the apartments spacious and very clean. Beautiful location, however, please note that airport shuttles and tours will not pick you up from this hotel... you will need to walk at least 15 min to another loation for any tour etc. If that's not a concern.. then it's an ideal hotel... pool was lovely and well kept... no hot water until 7:30 am so don't get up too early... after that the hot water is fine.. although my bathroom had a spa bath... the spa element did not work... but still nice to soak in a deep tub at the end of the day. Staff went out of there way to be helpful - and gave me a lift to the pick up spot that I had to get to for the airport shuttle. Tea bags and kettle and fridge in the accommodation.. but no coffee or milk... not a big deal - but would have been nice! Bed was very comfortable, and I do wish that I could have stayed longer. Hotel is in a good area for walking to lots of little shops and bars etc.

This was our first hotel in our vacation in Greece on the Island of Crete. It is a great hotel, and George the owner was very helpful when looking at what was important to see with such short time.
The pool was clean and had a great view, and there is homemade breakfast and dinner on premise. Yummy.
Negative.. up a big hill...lol.. worked our butts... walking to our room. But well worth it. The road up to the hotel has great little restaurants the food there is better then on the water, but not as romantic.

Great place. We only booked one night but stayed for 3.

Great Hotel!!!

Lived up to expectations: George and staff could not do enough for their guests - it was like home from home, very relaxed atmosphere, rooms very clean and spacious, everything you could possibly want. Pool area beautifully kept, clean towels everyday, breakfast selection more than adequate, offered great food for lunch and dinner. It's the first time I been there - went on recommendation. Very enjoyable week and will definitely be going back!

Nice location but rooms not up to scratch

Booked an executive suite with sea view and was put in a room I can only describe as tiny on ground floor with a very obscured sea view and a not private at all terrace as it backed onto the pool area.

Had even emaied ahead asking not to be put on ground floor so asked to move rooms which to be fair the owner did more or less right away but to a supposed inferior room which was actually bigger that the more expensive one I'd booked.

The room was adequete but in need of refurbishment, there was a shower but nowhere to attach it to the wall so you could actually have a shower and the aircon seemed as though it was not working very well and was a bit noisy at times.

The bathroom also sprang leaks after showers and the ventilation had some funny smells coming out of it.

In general it was a nice hotel in a quiet little location with good food but the rooms, that I saw, did not live up to expectations of how they looked and were described on the internet.

Although I believe there are some newer rooms which are better but I can't comment on as I didn't see and wasn't lucky enough to be in but paid the price for which seems a little unfair.

So all in all nice enough but very very underwhelmed by the rooms.

A nice little hotel, but NOT a 4 Star experience!

Not what we expected from \"4 star hotel\". Location - a bit remote (you need to be able to walk up a steep hill to get to and from hotel, which is tiresome after a few days). Rushed poor serviced breakfast. You constantly need to ask for extras; coffee, bread, ham, cheese, juice, etc. This breakfast is very very basic. Really really poor breakfast menu - you can pay more for \"upgrading\" your breakfast, but that will cost you. The menu does not change, so gets tiresome after a few days. Highly overpriced and poor quality drinks, food, beer, etc. Only give clean pool towels every second day. Room was warn and had several broken items.Tea was not filled up and the table was not cleaned on some occasions. Not given clean bed sheets every day. Room is cleaned late. Several days room was not clean until after 14.00. Bed sheets had holes in them on a couple occasions. Understaffed and overworked hotel staff.

Quiet and relaxing hotel

The room,the staff and the food on offer make for a great stay.
The staff seem to really care that you get what you want and are genuinely very friendly.
Breakfast is great and served by the pool and from lunchtime onwards the food is prepared to a high standard. I understand from guests all over Europe that I met, come here time and time again because it is run so well......nothing is a problem!
Great location for Koutouloufari as it is close enough to walk down there in 5 minutes but far enough away to be very quiet at night ensuring a great night sleep.
Also worth mentioning is that everything in the room works how it should including the TV and the Air conditioning.

Boutique Hotel in beautiful surroundings.

Creta Blue is a small family run hotel designed to deliver an intimate service with every guest made to feel especially welcome. Our room/suite was tastefully desinged and included a private balcony with uninteruppted seaview. The staff were super friendly, knowing all their guests by name and nothing was too much trouble, every need was catered for. A most pleasant visit, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to all.

Superb!

We got lost getting to the Creta Blue and finally arrived about 02:00 in the morning. The hotel is just out of the village of Koutouloufari and we wondered where we were going - but we were greeted on arrival and made very welcome.

Initial impression was 'Wow - this looks really great - much better than we expected' and through the week the hotel and staff continued to exceed our expectations.

The family paid attention to detail and nothing was too much trouble. George was charming and advised us where to go, what to see and what to do.

The village is a short stroll away and has lots of bars and restaurants and some interesting gift shops. Walking down to Hersonissos wasn't as far as we thought and didn't take as long as we expected. Walking back up was a bit of a puff - or one could take a taxi for 7 euros.

We had intended to eat out but enjoyed the meals in the hotel restaurant so stayed in most of the time.

We spent a lot of time just lazing around the pool and enjoying the views.

Not bad, but definitely overpriced.

The hotel is OK, but definitely not worth the money I paid. I have stayed in hotels in Crete, which were more than twice cheaper and as good, if not better, than Creta Blue. Hotel is located on a hill slope above the rest of the buildings in the area, therefore the view is good and it's somewhat isolated and quiet (soundproofing of the room is actually not good). Our room was clean and spacious. But - it is hard to find and hard to reach, both on feet (steep and long way up) and by car (narrow confusing streets). Far away from the beach. Parking is limited and mostly unpaved. Two-level room is inconvenient since one have to run up- and down metal stairs all the time. No Wifi in the rooms - only in the restaurant/reception areas. Why? There is a strong WiFi signal from the hotel 200 meters below. Breakfast is served by waitresses and was exactly the same all 3 days we stayed there (no choice of food). I'll skip a couple of other negative details. My conclusion - the place is striving to be an upscale hotel, but it is not quite there.

Great hotel, great service, great location

Classy hotel, great views from the hotel out onto the sea, family run, with great care taken to make sure your holiday is perfect. George and the team really succeeds in doing this. It should be noted that the Hotel is situated at the top of a steepish hill, so you should be mobile enough to climb the steps up. This hill top location does give you the best views in the area though. The room was spacious, and George very kindly upgraded our room from Garden view to sea view, free of charge. We had a really relaxing, enjoyable holiday staying at the Creta Blue. I would highly recommend the hotel to anybody looking for a great value hotel with great service, and a beautiful location
