The hotel was excellent and the staff courteous and helpful. It was my husbands birthday during our stay and the staff made a fuss of him by decorating the bed beautifully. We dined in the restaurant in the evening and again, were spoiled with a cake and a rendition of happy birthday by the saxophonist. It was lovely.

We stayed here twice. It is a superb hotel. On our first visit, we were upgraded to a suite with a stunning view over the Mekong. On our second, we had a balcony room overlooking the pool. Both rooms were stunning, spacious and very comfortable, with very good sized bathrooms. There is a good sized pool. There was a wide selection of very fresh food at breakfast, and they had decaffeinated coffee, a rarity in Southeast Asia. The food in the restaurant was excellent. There was a two-for-one happy hour in the sky bar, which also served food. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

One caveat: some of the rooms and suites face a nearby building and have opaque etched glass on the windows.

Stayed for 5 nights and couldn’t really fault the hotel. All staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible. Received a room upgrade, breakfast had a good selection, evening meal at the restaurant was excellent with plenty of choices both western and Asian, pool was great with happy hour at the pool bar between 3-5, sky bar then continued happy hour from 5-7. Staying at the Palace Gate Hotel was indeed the perfect way to start our Cambodian Trip.

Stayed here twice at the beginning and end of my 2-week trip to Cambodia. Both stays were great. The service at the Palace Gate is IMPECCABLE, including reception, restaurant, spa, and cleaning. My room was super comfortable: huge bed and bathroom, hot shower, great mattress and pillows, AC worked great. One especially nice touch was the salt scrub in the shower. I liked the breakfast, especially the freshly made noodle soup, but the rest of the hot entries were not great, nor were the breads. I think this is the only area the hotel could improve. On the other hand, the dining area, overlooking the pool, is lovely. The hotel's location is excellent, just a stone's throw from the Royal Palace and an easy walk to the National Museum and the river. I had drinks at the rooftop bar one night; they were ok - nothing to write home about - and the food was a bit of a disappointment there too. Still, the hotel overall was terrific; I would absolutely stay there again. One note of caution: there is construction going on right across the street from about 7 am to 5 pm every day and it is pretty loud, so if you are planning a trip in the next few months, you might look at other options for the short term.

The inclusive breakfast was great with a good variety of options. We also had dinner in the restaurant on our first night, which was delicious with good portion.

Location was great, a stone throw away from the Royal Palace and river.

The only thing is that they gave us two cards, one to open the room and the other for electricity. The one for electricity didn't work and shut it off after ca 10 seconds. Even though we reported that it didn’t work to the reception, they just said it's only for electricity so a bit of communication gap there. In the end we just used the key card meant to open the room for electricity.

Also, one thing to note is that they take $100 deposit by cash upon check in, which is a bit unusual since it's normally done by card in other hotels we stayed in.

The hotel location is perfect, very walkable to the river and right next to the palace. Very friendly and professional staff and the hotel is very clean and well maintained. The pool is very relaxing and the quality of pool food is excellent as is the breakfast buffet. Excellent gym facilities. The roof top bar is very nice with attentive staff and quality food and drink. I would give it 5 stars I'm sure, if I hadn't have been given a room on the 3rd floor directly under the rooftop bar, which closes at 11pm and then furniture and clean up went on until past 1am. The hotel did move me after the first night, to another room, but also on the 3rd floor, as apparently they were fully booked. This was no better, and after 3 nights of interrupted sleep I can only give a 3 star review on a personal level.

The whole experience was fantastic! The staff, the room, the service, the food, and the location made our stay memorable. Although the hotel is in the city right by the Palace, it felt like we were in a beautiful resort outside a city. The only improvement opportunity we can provide would be about the entrance where guests come in for checking in and choking out. The entrance is not appealing. We got off on the street literally no hotel designated entry way for cars or for guests. The street right by the door was dirty and smelly. We were actually scared of entering the hotel. We wondered what we should expect from the inside based on what we experienced at entry point. However, once we got in, inside the hotel starting from the reception area did not let us down. The breakfast buffet was great with a good variety of choices. The staff were incredibly polite and helpful. The rooms were very clean, the poolside we incredible appealing and you don’t want to leave the hotel.

Right next door to the royal palace this is a lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The pool area is the highlight and centrepiece - an oasis. The rooms are large and comfortable - likewise the bed was large and amazingly comfortable. Pillow options available although we felt what we had was already good for us.

Além disso, é possível se comunicar em inglês com os funcionários da recepção sem maiores problemas. O único ponto negativo é o serviço no café da manhã porque efetivamente não se consegue relaxar, já que a equipe nos interrompe inúmeras vezes para retirar pratos e talheres das mesas. Não fosse isso, teria sido perfeito. De todo modo, recomendo o hotel e voltaria a me hospedar sem sombra de dúvidas.

Would have appreciated clearer communication of Happy Hour Rules (it’s two of the same drink, not two drinks for the price of one), and the laundry was the most expensive we have come across in Asia so far!

Overall, still a v nice place to stay, and staff were very friendly and warm, remembering names after one encounter.

The area around the pool is the nicest part of the hotel by far. The rest is unfortunately quite ordinary and it is disappointing because the pictures of the pool set an expectation of comfort and luxury.

We can see than an effort was made to put art and furniture everywhere but it just feels overloaded and tacky.

The rooms are weirdly decorated and they just don’t feel cozy. They feel like big rooms that they tried to fill with stuff by people who did not really know what they were doing.

The automatic spray device in the elevator is awful. It wreaks of cheap perfume.

So nice place, well located, nice staff, nice service, nice pool but does not carry the type of luxury you would expect from what you see in the pictures. They should hire someone to look at how they can make it feel more comfortable and quiet-luxury - it definitely has a lot of potential (or maybe I am not the target audience and I have different taste - I am westerner)

It is best to get around the area by using Grab rather than negotiating with people outside. Only cost 70 pence (UK) to go for a bite to eat at Bassac Street where you will find some nice bars and restaurants (highly recommend the Greek Restuarant and the Pizza place, we usually eat local but fancied a change having been away for nearly 3 weeks).

Hotel has good pool and lovely view of the palace. Make sure you go up to the bar for sunset. Bet view of the palace at sunset in the city.

Gym was well equipped but rather hot as air con hadn’t been on prior to our arrival.

Breakfast was ok but not the best I’ve had on offer but by no means the worst. Plenty of hot and cold options. Lovely setting in 100 year old building with plenty of character.

This hotel is outstanding and world-class! My declaration does not come lightly because over the years, I have traveled to 57 different countries and 39 U.S. states…staying in some of the very best places - I’m “qualified” to say this.

So, what makes this hotel special? Aside from its great location along the Tonle Sap river, close proximity to the Royal Palace, and immaculate grounds and facilities, it’s the Staff who make all of the difference. From the baggage porters to the doormen to the Front Desk personnel, to the waiters and waitresses to the chambermaids - they are all excellent! Absolutely First Class people who make you feel welcome and feel that your every wish is their command.

This, I believe this is a reflection of their culture, their personal character, and their leadership. A rudderless ship goes nowhere, but this Staff understands its purpose and mission while on-duty, and they all carry out their responsibilities with great enthusiasm and dedication.

For example, upon my arrival, Assistant FO Manager Khuon Pisey already knew my name, had me seated with a cool drink, and took care of the entire check-in without my ever having to leave that comfortable seat. I later asked her only once to do something for me and without taking written notes, she completed my request flawlessly. She had given me her fullest attention and then made sure it was all done correctly without my having to double check. This is the kind of service you can expect here. Perfection!

Food excellent and always piping hot. Service always spot on, such helpful willing and polite staff. Beautiful room and bathroom - spotlessly clean.

Loved the organic sky bar - great drinks and snacks and amazing views over the palace.

Had a fabulous meal at Mealea - one of the best meals during our 3 week trip.

Used the pool each day, good mixture of sunny and shady spots with great lunch choices served to your lounger.

If we ever visit Phnom Penh again we will stay here for certain.
