Great stay! Very convenient for our reservation at the castle. The room was comfy, very clean and spacious. It’s as old building so things creak a lot but it was part of the charm for us. Staff was helpful and friendly. We loved the snacks and ice cream!!

By far one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff are just soo welcoming, the free snacks and popsicle hotline was fantastic, the entertainment for the kids was great- Our kids very much enjoyed the magic! our room was lovely with a balcony over looking the pool. The pool is super clean, warm and again just lovely. Location fantastic. We want to return already. A perfect place to stay. Highly recommend

Quirky! That’s my first thought on this brief experience. This property is stuffed into the hillside above Franklin Ave. which was challenging if you are driving at peak Traffic times and trying to turn into the steep uphill entrance but I made It.While there is parking available it does not accommodate high profile vehicles but staff quickly found alternate parking in the front.The guest services person was very welcoming and efficient in my check in. The building itself is quite dated which I don’t mind .The pool area dominates the property with most rooms facing it.My biggest surprise came when entering my room, it was huge. A kitchen , dining room, huge living room, luggage and dressing area , big bathroom with huge tub and a bedroom with two bed and two huge closets. I was blown away and sad I only had one nite to hang out and see what other surprises this property might hold. After all it is the Magic castle Hotel. lol This hotel is not for everyone , not LA sleek and beautiful but if I were going spend some in LA a definite contender.

The person who welcomed us was very courteous and carried our bags to our room and would not accept a tip, saying that was his pleasure to help us.

We wanted two bedrooms and two bathrooms as we were staying with our teens. The showers were basically unusable - less water than a public shower. Sleeping with the portable air con machines on (machines that are at least 30 years old) was impossible. Obviously this is a very old motel but expectation is while the paint is peeling and the bedroom doors don’t shut - basic amenities like air con and a shower should absolutely be a given. While staff are very lovely the fact we were paying for bathrooms that really under any normal circumstances are in no way considered habitable. Only stay here if you are fully aware of the state of the bathrooms/aircon.

Staff and location are highlights of the stay. Have appropriate expectations helps. This is an old Los Angeles apartment complex that was turned into a hotel. As such it's older and dated which is also part of it's charm.

pros: the rooms are spacious, which is good for families that have kid's, my children loved that there was an ice cream machine and a coke machine and how nice the staff were, and that there were free snacks.

Cons: the floor was a bit dirty and the tables were kinda sticky, and the things are a bit old.

Charming 1950s hotel just off Hollywood Boulevard. So it's very convenient and walkable to the main street. Warm and friendly staff and nice touches like complimentary snacks, soft serve, soft drinks, breakfast, laundry. And heated pool!

The staff at this hotel deserve a 5 star rating. They are the best. They can’t do enough for you. From the free snacks, breakfast, and free laundy they can’t do enough for you. Just amazing.
The actual room though is less than impressive. The floor is all uneven, the toilet leaks and the shower blocks every time you shower. We could hear every footstep of the people above us which was frustrating while trying to sleep.
If you want amazing service with awesome treats stay here. But if you are wanting modern nice rooms this isn’t the place for you.

Best customer service! Run down rooms, no elevator. If you have luggages, you will have to carry it upstairs. But I guess the proximity to walk of fame and the free amenities makes up for it. I hope they will do renovations soon. Love to be back and stay here again!

This is our new go-to spot in L.A. Is it the newest place around? No, but it far more than makes up for that with character and personality. Speaking of character and personality, the front desk manager, Kevin, has both in abundance. We’ve been traveling as a couple for close to 50 years, and I’ve never been greeted in such a fun, welcoming manner. He made us feel like royalty. When you encounter positive customer service it’s so refreshing, and Kevin was amazing. We’re already planning our next trip so we can stay here again!

The front desk was the star of the show. All the little freebies and perks they have that are not typical of most hotels like free snacks and a \"popsicle hotline\" at the pool where you pick up the phone and ask for a popsicle and someone comes and hands you a one. The room prices are quite reasonable. It's a unique place to stay and will stay there next time we visit LA if there's availability.

Aside from the staff and the pool, this place is worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Please do not stay in room 203. The shower faucets leak like crazy and never get hot. The kitchen faucet was barely holding on. The balcony was so dirty I couldn't stay out there. Summary - not fun!

Cool old Hollywood hotel

This is an OLD Hollywood hotel. There’s nothing wrong with it. The price was fair. The people that ran the place fell over themselves to help you. It is walking distance to the Hollywood Bowl which is why we were there. Found out the hotel can book you a reservation to the show at The Magic Castle if you are a guest. Otherwise you have to know a member of the club or know a magician, which I do not. I’ll probably stay here again just to go to the show-a bucket list thing for me😊.

Best hotel for families!

This is a great place for families. My kids were so impressed with all of the free snacks and the friendly service. My son said that I couldn’t have picked a better place for us to stay. We had an event at the Hollywood Bowl, and it was an easy walk from the property. I wish more places would offer perks like Magic Castle. We will definitely stay there again. The Magic Castle Hotel was everything we could dream of and more! Upon arrival, the staff tended to up personally welcoming us with bubbly juice and champagne. Our Guest services assistant was very attentive to us upon check in and even offered us a room upgrade as hotel first timers. The property was beautiful, well maintained, and a kids and parents paradise. The amenities offered right down to the free snacks, and popsicle hotline were a what dreams are made of for a Hollywood adventure with kiddos! I highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to the area, it is very walkable and public transportation is easily available near by. Thank you to the Hotel staff for truly making our stay Magical in every way!

The staff really make this quirky little hotel special. Nothing seems too much bother and they do everything with a smile. They interact with all their guests and without exception were friendly and welcoming.

Kids (and the big kids too) love the ‘popsicle hotline at the pool snacks, ice cream and juice that is all freely available all day.

Hotel is very close to the Hollywood Boulevard landmarks and a lovely big shopping mall, all less than a 5 minute walk.

Rooms are basic (reminded us of student halls) but they are air conditioned and equipped with everything you will need for a short stay including a hair drier and iron. It’s not luxurious but for the price it’s clean and relatively comfortable.

Definitely a fun place to base yourself for an LA trip.

There is a small elevator on the outside entrance to get you up and down those stairs to the lobby and the rest of the resort. We travelled with a large group of mostly teens and booked two rooms. At first glance of the building facade, I wasn't expecting much to experience from the hotel. But from the moment we stepped into the Lobby with our chaotic group of teens, we were greeted by very kind staff members who excitedly checked us in and gave us a quick rundown of the perks of the hotel. From 24/7 pool hours, to free fountain drinks, popsicles, snacks & 24/7 access to it's free laundry facility. It was the perfect place for us. The central courtyard had lots of space for our teens to hang out and relax. The hotel is on a quiet street but just down the road and a quick walk away from the Hollywood walk of fame and many iconic locations in Hollywood including a Metro station which we took to Universal Studios.

The staff and some amenities were amazing. The apartment itself was not the best; it had very squeaky and damaged floating floors, old and damaged furniture. No elevators made carrying luggage up and down the very narrow staircases difficult. Many children were present, so if you want peace and quiet, you might want to consider somewhere else.

“Cheap and Cheerful” is how I would sum up The Magic Castle Hotel. Each of the staff I encountered were friendly, helpful, and professional. The amenities are great, especially for families (heated pool, popsicle hotline, soft serve ice cream machine, free endless snacks, fountain soda/ice machine, free Wi-Fi, continental breakfast, free detergent on-site laundry, and outdoor movies).

The mini bar was stocked for a good time (liquor/beer/pre-mixed cocktails) with reasonable prices! There were also several easy DoorDash-able restaurant suggestions provided at check-in.

Parking is limited, so the garage can fill up. I’m not sure what the alternative parking arrangement could be. There were a couple of very narrow spots that could accommodate a Mini or Prius-sized vehicle, but not a regular sedan or SUV, FYI.

The property felt secure, requiring key cards to enter the garage or lobby. The room had everything one needs for a comfortable stay, but it’s best suited for the sleep shower crowd. If you’re into hotel-style lounging, it’s probably not ideal. (Although, the robes and towels were soft and comfy.) The property is old, the rooms are small, and there isn’t a lot of natural light. The rooms and property are kept up just fine, but they show their age.

If I ever need to stay in the Hollywood area again, I’ll definitely book here without hesitation.

This is a lovely spot to stay -- not for the luxury, it's rather seriously retro -- but for the atmosphere and the staff. Absolutely take advantage of the access to the Magic Castle for dinner or brunch on the weekends, which costs around $100 and includes access to the castle, grounds, and magic shows.

Welcome to an expensive AirBnb acting like a hotel

The hotel is a pretty old apartment community turned into a hotel with 1B1B unit called as suite rooms. The parking is a hassle, the free breakfast is laughable, the floors are creaky and you are sold magic related merchandize.

The things I liked about the hotel were one of the front desk manager who did our check-in who was a pleasure to interact, was very co-operative, friendly and the reason why I didn't change my mind and go somewhere else after looking at the \"hotel\".
