Clean apartment like hotel. We loved our sauna and massage chair. Bathroom was very roomy and with large bathtub. Washing and drying machine was great with laundry detergent already provided. Nice quiet location with beach view. Wished bed was more comfortable as it wasn’t the most comfortable bed, and we wished there were small closet where we can store luggage.

Well located and comfortable hotel for visit with family in Chatan. No luxury here but the furnishings and bath are comfortable, the staff is attentive and kind and they speak excellent English. Family oriented neighborhood with playgrounds, numerous small restaurants, and beach surf access. Coworking space with excellent internet.

It’s a unique hotel. I enjoyed the hug bath tub and the dedicated shower room and the in room washer dryer which came in handy being next to the seawall for snorkeling . I also enjoyed having access to a bike to get around the seawall and Restaurants near Hamby town. Unfortunately local advice for traveling to the ferry and exploring was limited at best. Apparently there was only a coffee soda and juice bar for two months ( July and august) the coffee was great but no food or breakfast is offered. The room lighting is crazy complicated with controls on Japanese. I had to use Google translate for the temperature controls. The bed was firm and so were the two pillows . Staff is not at the desk in the late evening so if you want more pillows you can call the emergency number. Only one sheet/ duvet is provided. The TV in the theater room is huge and the large wood floor is a bonus for doing yoga so bring a matt. . They have several hangers off to the side but no dresser . The towel service is a open locking small door next to the front door that is accessed daily by cleaning staff. It opened without announcement and surprised me as staff could see in. It’s a bit strange here. It seems like there is another business in the works behind the hotel front. Intelligence something… they have a huge meeting table in the lobby with expensive office chairs they seem to be selling a library with Christian books and a bathroom behind hanging string curtain. It’s a bit strange.

Just a hop skip and a jump away from American Village. Great location. Staff super helpful. Got beach chairs & beach parasols for free. Even lend us a vacuum cleaner for our car. Washing machine in the room was very helpful & high-end. The TV was the biggest I have ever seen in a hotel, maybe 70in. Just wish my wife’s bed was as comfortable as mine. Would stay there again.

This isn’t the worst place I’ve ever stayed; it checked all the necessary boxes, but I wouldn’t stay there again. Pluses are there is ample parking on site, the room is large and the bathroom is ginormous. There’s also free washing machines and driers.

The downsides are the building feels extremely dated, and you can sense the “love hotel” aspects of the buildings bones. The elevator especially smelled extremely …love hotel-like. In the room there were karaoke speakers and a ceiling fan that seemingly had no controls. Decor also was not modern. There was a balcony, but more or less no useable space on it and it’s not clean. TV was big but old.

Love the vault designed hotel door!

Sunset Terrace'S location is rather deep in so you need a car. 10mins drive to American Village. The hotel room door is like a bank vault and it felt strangely safe. Big bathroom with a big bath tub which is great. There is no electric point near beds. There is no housekeeping during stay so its perfect for a 2 days short stay. Privacy granted. Exchange used towels via a small window. No breakfast. 2 bottles of mineral water provided everyday. Like a studio apartment, spacious and comfortable. Rather new facilities. The tiny balcony offers a side angle view of the sea. 8mins walk to the coast for jog or stroll. Love it.

The location of the property is only ok because there’s only a handful of restaurants that are within walking distance. It’s a very residential neighbourhood and the corner store (family mart) is about a 10 min walk away. Second you hear during day jet landing quite frequently as you’re near a military base. It’s quiet after sunset. You’re right near the sea wall which nice to walk along. You have a beach nearby but it’s not the best as there’s a lot sharp rocks some shoes are required to go in the ocean.

Beautiful, relaxing room in Chatan

This hotel was amazing. The pictures for this hotel does not do it justice. Our room was huge and really nicely decorated. It even had a Japanese style table and chairs! The bathroom was also very large with a huge shower and separate spa-like bath. If you are looking to stay in Chatan, then this is the hotel to stay. If you have no car, be prepared to have to walk to some shopping. It was expensive to get a taxi from the airport to this hotel, but there is a bus that will take you, but the bus stop would require some decent walking first (which didn't work for us due to heavy luggage). Beach is right behind hotel and there was a great scuba diving shop in the area that picked us up from the hotel. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. It is the best value for room size that we found in Japan and the room is a 5 star quality room.

They need to change the pictures of the place. It’s sooo much better than we thought. Excellent area, for us. Accomodations that fit 3 of us. Excellent WiFi. If you drive, are a family with kid, need spacious space, not keen on hotel breakfast (can get delicious ones outside anyway, time is of your control), satisfies with minimal hotel facilities, and most important, wanna be a dollar saver, then this hotel is for you. By staying away from the crowd (talking about American Village) with just 9 mins drive from the American Village, you get almost half the price (we went in Feb time), off the noise, still nearby the area, with a different taste of quietness in Sunset Terrace. If you’re Chinese, you also get good service from Chinese speaking staff there. And I am telling you, the room for family of 3 is SPACIOUS! Like ours, with one big and one standard bed, big big screen TV, room to walk around the floor (or leave open your luggage), AND and particularly spacious washroom area with a big big show/bath tube room! Although cleaning service is not everyday, but they do change you towels and supply water to your room on daily basis. In addition to these, FREE laundary service and OSIM massage chair to compliment your stay! All that for half the price of hotels in the heart of American Village. Go figure that pal! I shouldn’t need to mention that free parking is available with the hotel, with optional bike rental, coupled with nearby breakfast cafe (Café Casa a MUST go, it’s signature french toast and delicious coffee).

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel, and I would highly recommend. A Sauna and Jacuzzi Tub in the room is wonderful. The only downside about this hotel (not the hotels fault) is it's a little far from American Village if you enjoy going to that area. Taxi's are expensive, so frequent trips can get pricey. However, the hotel did take us and drop us off one time. If they have staff available, they will give you a ride, which is super. The other minor issue is no restaurant for breakfast. So a good long walk, or a taxi somewhere. If this hotel offered continental breakfast, that would be super!

A Step Above Average

The hotel is very nice. They provide limited free parking, but we were able to be find a spot even late at night. You'll need to go up to the 2nd floor to reach the reception area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They did speak broken English, but we could understand them just fine.

The room itself was, for the most part, a basic hotel room. We had a view overlooking a skating park and the ocean. We had a queen-sized bed, television, mini-fridge, etc. The toilet had it's own sepaeate mini-room, and the restroom sink could be found just outside the toilet room. The hotel provided typical restroom items (towels, hair dryer, complimentary toothbrushes and cups, etc). The soaps, shampoo, and conditioner were actually of better quality than your typical generic soaps. What made it a step above average, however, was the shower room.

In addition to the typical Japanese shower (shower head with a bucket and stool) they also provided a bathtub that was large enough so that an average-sized American could lay in it without feeling constricted. There was also a personal sauna in a separate room that could fit one or two people, depending on the size of the people). As stated earlier, they provided shampoo, conditioner and a liquid body wash (with a body wash rag available on the sink).

They don't really have a daily housekeeping service. Instead, each room has a mini door to exchange used towels with clean ones. They'll also provide some bottles of drinking water.

Great hotel close to restaurants

If you want to be right by the beach within walking distance to restaurants, this is the place to be. However if you want to be somewhere quiet, this may not be the place. There’s lots activity and traffic noise that can be heard from the room.

Hotel cleanliness and daily housekeeping was great. The room was comfortable and had all the necessities. The only downside to the room experienced was the lighting system in the room. The main room light had a motion censor which if triggered, would light up the whole room and disturb my partner if i were to get up at night to go to the bathroom.

Unique room with a great atmosphere

I booked this hotel at a discounted rate through Expedia for a trip with my girlfriend. First, the hotel was very clean and the staff was pleasant. We noticed a restaurant inside that seemed to be quite popular. It’s not a mega sized hotel, so if you’re like us and prefer to avoid bumping into other people constantly , this hotel is great. Each room has a different theme and we loved ours ! The bath was especially nice ! We definitely plan to visit again!

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Everything was very quiet inside the hotel, I didn't hear much noise despite the busy long weekend. The room was spacious, the bathroom area was amazing, clean and huge. Internet worked well, no password required, quick connection. Parking spots are right in front of the entrance, easy to park and safe. I was surprised my room had a private sauna! I didn't use it because I don't like saunas, however I think this is a big plus for people who like it. The area is like 5 minutes away from the America Village (by car). I will come back !

The morning desk clerk speaks good English and is very helpful.
The only negative about this hotel is that they don't clean the room everyday. They give fresh towels any day that you want them, but in a 7 day stay, they only cleaned the room once. And if you want more cleaning than that, you have to pay extra.

You will love the view. The soaking bath is amazing and the potty amazing. I had a very nice stay friendly staff very helpful. Coffee shop around the corner was very helpful and freindly, yummy coffee. The only downfall was the restaurant in the hotel. The smell in the hallway was not pleasant. I couldn’t eat there because of the smell. Stay up on the fourth the smell goes away. But if you stay there you’ll love it.

The hotel is fine. There are some nice hole-in-the-wall restaurants in walking distance and you could slightly see the beach from my room. I like the big shower/bathtub. I would have preferred a room which would have had a desk or a table to write on instead you only get a coffee table. There is also a problem with the lights. Its sort of all or nothing. I would prefer a night light or a lamp in the room. Even though the TV has an HDMI you cant connect your laptop to it.

Overall a nice place to stary for the price.

Close to the sea wall, ample parking available for rental car, close to local store, restaurants, bars and bus stops. Free use of washer (including detergent) and dryer for laundry. No clothes dresser and just a few hangers for clothes, so you will have to live out of the luggage. Great value though!

Great Budget Hotel--New, clean and quiet. :)

I was nervous at first because this hotel is really off the beaten path (a good 1.5 miles from Chatan's American Village). However, once I got to know the neighborhood, I found a couple great little restaurants and bars that were MUCH better than what I found over there. Check out Beer Rize and the Kabob House--especially if you need a break from Japanese food! Both are about a 10 minute walk away. The neighborhood felt safe, which was important to me as a solo female traveler.

I stayed here for two nights and the room was new, clean, quiet and comfortable. The price was really affordable, and I was given fresh towels & a water bottle every day. It's a short walk to the Sunabe Seawall, which does NOT have a beach. However, Sunset Beach is a public beach nearby (spoiler alert: it's not that great.) There's also another little stretch of beach around the corner from Hotel Sunset Terrace, but I forget the name of it. If you're facing the ocean, it's off to the right.

I thought I would be happier in the American Village, so I switched hotels after two nights. Shame on me. That place was fine for an afternoon, but I can find trashy beach towns in the U.S. I didn't have a car, so I was kind of stuck in Chatan, and I ended up spending way too much money at another hotel. Don't make that mistake. If you want to check out Okinawa, stay at this hotel, rent a car and drive to the other islands for snorkeling/diving excursions.

Very nice inexpensive hotel

Stayed at this hotel for 5 evenings. It is a small hotel a little off the beaten path. The room is of decent size with a very large bath area. It even has a small balcony. That is both good and not as good. It provides a great way to step out and enjoy the breeze but I would have liked a window that I can leave open at night to forgo with the air conditioner.
There are plenty of parking. During my stay, I never had a problem with parking on site. The check-in process was fast and smooth. Part of the reason for the reasonable price is that the rooms aren't cleaned at all during my stay. They simply exchange the towels through a trap door on the entrance to the room. That is fine with me as I don't need my bed make-up every day by others.
The only slight downsides are the strange location of the light switch and apparent poor insulation between floors. I would have preferred the light switches for the room to be close to the bed so I switch them on in the middle of the night if I need to use the washrooms. I could hear the upstairs neighbors walking around their room. So I assume my downstairs neighbor could hear me as well.
Other than the minor issues, it was a very pleasant stay.

Beyond my Expectation

I spent 2 weeks with my husband here and it was very convenient. Close to Kadena and American village. The staff was beyond helpful and accomicating. And the room was gorgeous. And the shower was my favorite part. I defiantly will be staying here again.

Clean and friendly hotel

The hotel was right near the water. They replenished fresh towels and amenities daily. Nice and quiet. Within walking distance of lots of shopping.

Nice hotel

The room is so clean, it is like you are the first person to be there. It is close to the seawall for great walks. Small bars and restaurants through out the neighborhood. Easy access to 58. A lot like being a home.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
I will stay again when I visit Chatan Sunabe.

Near beach. Low key.

Quiet and low key. clean and perfect for my visit to my son who lives on the base at Kadena. The amenities and peacefulness of the room and closeness to the beach made for a relaxing stay
