I booked this hotel after seeing many positive reviews and was really looking forward to my stay. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t match what I expected.

When I arrived, the lobby wasn’t very clean, but I hoped the room would be better. Sadly, the room had a strong smell of cigarettes, a clogged toilet, and dirty furniture. I spoke with the front desk, and the manager kindly offered to show me another room, but that one had similar issues. He then told me I could cancel and receive a full refund, which I agreed to.

I was told the refund would take up to 14 days, but after waiting, nothing came through. When I called to follow up, it was difficult to reach the right person, and I was disconnected several times. Eventually, I had to dispute the charge with my bank, and the dispute was approved. However, a few weeks later, my bank reversed the refund because the hotel did not agree to issue it.

Overall, I was disappointed — not only by the room conditions, but also by how the situation was handled afterward. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves both cleanliness and communication with guests.

Misleading, the beach is not in the hotel, you have to pay 75 Shalke per person to enter the beach area from the other hotel, street parking only, non smoking room but you smell the smoking in the hallway, the guy in the front desk was really nice unlike the lady at the front desk rude!

The hotel is basically a beautiful view and nice accommodations but in general it promises more than it offers. Location is not convenient, distant from the city, the hotel has neither parking nor easy parking in the neighborhood, has a tiny swimming pool and is not in front of the lake as the advertising may suggest. The service and management are ok but some basic mistakes were made during my stay.

The hotel is very basic simular to a Howard Johnson style, on the run down side.
I am extremely disappointed with the Leonardo hotel and Expedia for not properly showing the real price of the room. I searched for a room for 5 people which they found and displayed the price after reviewing some other options I decided based on the price that it made sense. When I arrived at the hotel I was told that a room with 5 beds is only priced for 1 person and was charged double the price I was shown on the app. I rely on Expedia to protect from these preditor practices. And unfortunately Expedia failed this time big time.
The listing also claims that they have a parking lot which is false only street parking is available for a fee and police is quick to issue tickets. The breakfast was good and plentiful. Pool was nice and clean. Pool hours are a bit short only till 5:30pm they only have one bell cart so be prepared to pack light or wait for it. They did have some entertainment during the night. I was in a non smoking section but there was major cigarette smoking coming from other rooms which was very bad for the children. Overall it was not a terrible stay but for the price I ended up paying I would have picked a different place to stay with nicer facilities. The facility sent a message that they would do better next time which really does not resolve the problem.

Unfortunately we were rather dissatisfied with our visit in July 2021. This hotel is the basic of basics. The room was comfortable that I will say however, the food wasn’t great, the so called bar had nothing. My glass of wine had to be searched for in the back room. You’re not allowed to access the outdoor patio area out of pool hours which meant that from 5:30pm-9:30am you don’t have access to an outdoors seating area at all (unless you sit on the wall outside the front of the hotel). All I will say is it was challenging to see the luxury hotel in front of us and be sitting in that one. I presume that is their tactic as it’s also run by the same company.

i didnt liked that at the hotel reservation it says that there is a free parking available but the is only few parking spots available and due that i was required to pay for parking!!
the pool area closes at 17 and visitors cant sit next the pool( its the first hotel that i visited is like that)
although the hotel is ear the beach, there is only 1 available beach that cost 60 shekels for person!!
the distance from the beach was one of the main reasons that i stayed at that hotel and there is no information about that.

Property is in a good location, some rooms have a view of the sea of Galilee. Check in was very longlike 15 -17 minutes because the front desk oerson could not get a good wifi signsl on his tablet. Then he was rude when we were told there was only on street parking for 24 shekels a day and the website said free hotel parking. He actually said to us, if you don't like it go to another hotel. Then there was an issue with payment. They had a different card on file than the one we used for the booking. We were given what we were told was an upgrade from our superior room to a junior suite. We thought that was a good thing, boy were we wrong. All the families were young children stay on that floor 17th as the junior suites have a queen bed and a second sofa bed. The children were literally screaming in the hallway at midnight. No sleep for us! Wifi is weak and uou can't stream Netflix or movies. Room was not very clean, smoking is allowed or at least we saw huests openly smoking in their room (they had their doors open) I had to take a towel and wipe down all the furniture as there was a layer or dust on everything. I would not choose this hotel again as the noise and parking are a big issue and for the cost I expect by midnight I should be able to sleep!

The frontdesk staff was friendly. The room size was spacious, compared to a few other hotels I lived in Israel. The bathroom, again, is tiny but manageable. Breakfast is full of choices but staffs in the restaurant appeared less interested to serve anyone but stood and watched.

Because the hotel receives tour groups, so don't be surprised if you happen to have breakfast in a crowded and noisy restaurant.

Hotel's buffet dinner offer (around $30/person) is better than eating in restaurants nearby in terms of quality and quantity.

The room was plastered and caulked sloppily at the windows.

The parking workers outside (three) would not let me park in the small lot though there was room. I have a bad back. They were rude and told me that my car was small so I needed to park it on the street (and down the street from the hotel instead). They would not help me with my bags and later did not assist a hotel guest that had fallen outside on the property.

The price per night had been lowered significantly from when I had reserved it. The manager was unsympathetic and told me that I could have a refund for the second night only and by all means go somewhere else. He stated this after telling me that the first night was $ 65.00 more than the second evening in the hotel and I would then be paying even more somewhere else.

We arrived at the hotel and they didn’t let us stop the car to unload our luggage (although they have a driveway). We had to park on the street (as there’s no parking on the hotel premisses) and then lug out luggage to the hotel. Vallet parking and bell hops are non existent in this hotel. The staff was rude and not so welcoming. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is in good condition but overcrowded.

This is a nice property for the price, right across the street from the Sea of Galilee. It’s a short walk to a private beach you can pay to visit. The hotel pool is nice, with a view of the Sea.
The disappointment of our stay was that money went missing from our room, along with a watch from my suitcase. Security paid attention to the complaint, but didn’t do much to resolve the issue.

Worst hotel i have ever been.

Leonareo tiberias is the most awful hotel i have stayed at. It's old and run down. There were hair and dead bugs EVERYWHERE in the room. Dirty towels and sheets. It was easter week ,the hotel was very filled with families and kids crawling and screaming in the lobby and there was only one person working at front desk. Check in took a long time. When the housekeeping problem was addressed, the one and only busy front desk staff said he would take care of it but of course nothing was done. The elevators were extremely slow and have capacity for 5 people. There was always a long wait and my husband actually walked up. 8 storey to our room to avoid the crowd. the same elevators were also occupied by housekeeping staff with big trolley of towels .i was inside the elevators with them. The female staff yelled at her colleague on the top of her lungs and tapped on my back roughly asking me to give way to her. I had the most unpleasant experience at this place and recommend travellers not to stay here.

Hotel was located right on the water with access to the Kineret. Access to great restaurants in the area. Good breakfast in the morning with lots of different dishes. Room was spacious and the pool area was great. Only downside was our room did not have a refrigerator in it.

Check in person was rude.
Room was dirty. Hair in the bathroom. Dark red spots on the sheets. Couch and chairs were filthy. Had to put a towel down to sit on them. Breakfast was the worst I have had in any hotel.
Avoid at all costs.

We checked in late. Hotel looked way dinkier then in the online pictures. I went to give the kids a bath and there was a huge cockaroch.
It took two calls to get someone to come take it away. They did not apologize. Breakfast was okay. Pool is nice but packed. They need to close down and update the place.

It's an old hotel - the first I've been in with actual keys for the doors in nearly a decade, and that includes other locations in Israel and Egypt - that's had some renovations but could stand a few more. Like those doors/keys (the lock on our door required a lot of jiggling; the interior door chain was broken; and there was no peep-hole). Also, the air-conditioning was a travesty. The controls make absolutely no sense, and half the lettering was worn off, raising the level of challenge considerably. Also, the AC in one of our 2 rooms smelled like rotting cabbage. All. The. Time. We had to just grin and bear it, but it was so overpowering that you never truly "got used to it" and I would catch a nasty nosefull even in the middle of the night.

Also, there were more than a few spiderwebs in the corners, closets, and lamps. Yuck.

There's a dining room that serves breakfast daily, although there is a considerable difference between weekday and weekend (Friday-Saturday) breakfast. Which is to say, the weekday is rather meager, and the weekend is extravagant (and quite good). There's also a lounge with a bar/coffee bar on the lobby level, and there are menus there, but it all seems rather informal and mysterious, as even on a Friday there was no one working in there and it took 45 minutes to order a salad once the front desk tracked someone down. Don't plan to find food at the hotel after breakfast - look elsewhere.

Lastly, the pool is amazing. Nicest I've seen outside Vegas.

My stay was nothing short of Terrible. I booked this on Hotels.com and the write up was incredibly misleading gm. I later learned that there are two other Leonardo resorts nearby and the pictures for this hotel were "borrowed" from the other resort. I booked a "superior" room and there was nothing superior about it. The front desk told me that the superior room was their regular room, and unfortunately it didn't even live up to that standard. The advertisement said there would be one king bed but instead the took two twin beds and pushed them together. The beds were literally 12 inches off the ground and the a/c didn't work. We were also warned not to leave windows open overnight because many bugs and insects find their way into the room in the morning. The dining room looked like a cafeteria mess hall with everything in havoc. It was a complete mess and the waiters could not keep up with the traffic. Tables were left uncleaned, not enough cutlery etc. There is hardly any parking and the streets were full. We had to drag out luggage two blocks in sweltering heat because the hotel doesn't even offer bellhop service. Oh, and the hotel is not on the water as they advertise but across a busy two-way street.

We booked 2 rooms- one for us and one for our kids. Checkin was inordinately time consuming - they couldn't figure out why the Expedia rate was different than their posted rate. No bell service. Finally get upstairs and the rooms aren't near each other. Back downstairs, 1/2 hour wait to speak to someone. They give us another room next to one of ours - and it's really a closet with a king bed. No dresser!! Back downstairs, 1/2 hour wait - nothing they can do. Ok - we will manage. Let's go swimming in the "outdoor pool." Sorry - no pool, but we will voucher you for a local attraction. What are they? You can walk around and see what you want to do. PuleeZe. Room was dirty (cookies on floor when we walked in); a/c struggled mightily to cool room to 26 C. At checkout, they STILL couldn't figure out the Expedia rate. Thirty minutes later, I said I'm leaving and they said,"oh it's because you don't have to pay the VAT that locals do" I really didn't care. Two hours later, call from manager - we didn't charge you the right amount and you owe us 40 bucks.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!!***POOL UNDER RENOVATION

i dont usually write reviews for hotel stays or such as...but this time i felt the need to.. just because i wish when i booked someone had written a review about the fact that the pool is under renovation. ( SINCE OCTOBER).
Looking at the pictures of the hotel there were plenty of pictures of the pool and nowhere stated that it would be not accessible since its under renovation.
When we checked in the hotel they only waited after we paid and got our room keys to mention it. we did book this mainly to have access to the pool and relax for a couple of days.
When we confronted the lady at the front desk ( i believe her name is Sapir ) not 100% sure, she was not being understanding and definitely not willing to help make us feel better about the inconvenience.
She wasn't even willing to give us a full refund but only partial.
Only after the manager got involved , Motti, who was being really nice and willing to help us , we got our full refund and left the hotel.

The hotel is fine, it is the unfortunate surroundings that you see out the nice large picture window. You can see the Sea of Galilee, but the old vacant buildings detract from the setting. There is nothing the hotel can do about it. There are many abandoned buildings or ones that never completed construction throughout Tiberias. In addition it is EXTREMELY hot in July and they do not have a pool, which is buried in the info on Expedia. It is under construction.

The room was nice with a beautiful view except for the construction of a new beachfront pool complex right in front of us, which we were not told about when we reserved. Construction started at 7am! However, the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating! I would stay here again...once the new pool complex is done!

Staff was great - very helpful. Room was good with large window looking out at the Sea of Galilee. Very clean and comfortable. However, we chose this hotel for 2 reasons: pool and beach. Because of construction there were neither. Hotel was very nice but surrounding area is quite run-down. When the construction is finished with the new pool this will be a fabulous place to stay.

Beautiful Hotel right on the water

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 1 night stay at the Leonardo. Our room was beautiful! I believe every room has a view of the water, because of the way the hotel is constructed. The staff was very helpful.
Parking is free in the front lot!
It looks like they are building new facilities along the water for the hotel. Should be very cool!
Breakfast was incredible. So many yummy options, not just Israeli foods. We had delicious granola, yogurt, egg dishes, and milk.
We were sad to go!
My only complaint was the room was very warm. I told the front desk about it when we were leaving and the receptionist told me they have central heating/cooling, and since it was still "winter" the room wasn't set for cool air.

Great hotel

Wasn't as nice as the Leonardo in Jerusalem, but for the price it was a great place to stay. The parking is limited and our WiFi wasn't working when we stayed there, but the staff was very hospitable and the accommodations were great.

Leonardo Hotel - Tiberias

We had booked a sea view room, and the information on the site said there was a pool, spa, and jacuzzi. When we got there, there was construction across the street, that not only took away the view, but the spa, pool and jacuzzi. Add to that he fact that the jackhammers woke us up at 6:30 AM. We advised the front desk, and Meirav and Moriah were very helpful, and got us another/better room, and passes to the Hamat Gader Spa.

Great staff, great hotel.

The staff at Leonardo was extremely warm and inviting from the minute we arrived. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, including offering us drinks whenever we went out and even helping us decide where to go for the day. The room we stayed in overlooked the lake and it was great being right on the water. The breakfast was full of quality options - a great start to energize us for the busy day of sightseeing. The hotel is a short walk to the main road with plenty of restaurants and shopping opportunities. We'd definitely recommend the Leonardo Hotel to anyone looking to stay in Tiberias.

This hotel is a dump

Upon arrival you are met by a smell that resembles a mixture of Lysol and K-300 (local cockroach repellant). Parking is scarce and staff is at the best, not very friendly, nor professional. My room (1501) was tiny and looked as if it had been decorated in the early eighties. I had reserved a double room for single occupancy, but this room was tiny. All in all, the property is not well-kept and both my room and the public areas were very worn down. The safe in my room needed to be opened by security 5 times and although I urged them to change the battery they didn't, until I had to check out and then even their special device couldn't open it anymore. The bathroom door also locked up by itself and needed hotel staff to be opened. Some of the staff was outright rude, particularly noticeable was a dining room waiter who needed the elevator to go upstairs one floor carrying a couple of beers, who suggested that the five people waiting, who had just finished the Tiberias Marathon, use the stairs.
The location is 7 minutes from town, a bit away from the majority of other hotels. I do not frequently visit Tiberias and maybe this hotel is not worse than anything else in this town, but I am going to bet on something else next time and just to be sure, I'll probably not chose a Leonardo hotel again.

Happily satisfied with The Leonardo

The hotel is exceptional for the caliber of hotel it is. We came into Tiberias for the 39th Tiberius Marathon from the USA and South America. We found a last minute booking at a number of facilities and chose this one due to location, price and reviews. We were very fortunate. The staff was great and one lady in particular, Meirav, was fabulous! Kudos all around. We both decided we would return to this facility next year for the 40th marathon.
