My experience started after I booked my trip to the Maldives, the hotel contact us directly offer help with transfer from the airport, this was greatly appreciated and accepted. The hotel is 3 minutes walk from the beach and jetty. The Staff are an asset, the Front of House Manager helped with booking tours and was professional, yet friendly and warm. Our cleaner (Shamim) made our stay special and appreciate the effort he made making our room every day. I would recommend this hotel, it is conveniently located to everything and the staff are the best.

So I don’t normally do in-depth hotel reviews but this deserves it to help save someone. I booked at Kaani on Maafushi before going to the private island. First there are several hotels in this chain next to or close to each other. Note they are not all equal in price or quality. Read the reviews carefully. I booked Kaani Beach when I should have booked Kaani Palm Beach. Their hotel is nicer it seemed and amazing Saturday night beach party. There were only 2 floors in Kaani Beach so the sea view is through the trees and mostly of tin roofs and it’s an old building, no elevator which does not work well for my back. They gave me a triple room when I booked a double. The toilet was leaking and a rooster crowing out my room. The room and building was just horrible. I asked for a change in building and room. After back and forth, calling the manager etc the only room available was the king penthouse suite on the 7th floor in Kaani Grand which still had stairs because the elevator only went to the 6th floor and it would cost me extra $$$ to upgrade. It was nice and the view amazing and it was spacious. I went for my pedicure in their spa which is nice and it was ready when I came back. Note this is a chain with high guest’s occupancy so run like a machine. No extra niceness like the luxury brands in Maldives so lower your expectations. Free breakfast was ok. The worst part is after paying all that extra $$ there were roaches in my suite on both nights.

Half-hearted and not my hotel

We arrived on the island, and the hotel staff took us to Kaani Palm even though our reservation was at Kaani Beach. When I pointed this out, they said that Kaani Beach is closed at the moment (Yet they still sell rooms there). This annoyed me because I did not want to stay in Kaani Palm. I did not want to stay in a big concrete block with hundreds of other people, and that is why I chose Kaani Beach (which only has 16 rooms).
When we got our room, the noise was unbearable. There was construction going on 5-10 metres away, and things in our room were shaking, and it was loud enough to drive you crazy. We asked for a new room and were told that it wouldn’t make a difference and that the daily construction noise finished at 7pm. So we were supposed to listen to the noise for 10-12 hours a day. We started looking for a new hotel but thankfully the manager came in the evening and found us a room further up without construction chaos.
THE FOOD was a big disappointment. Every night that the buffet was outside, the food was cold - Even though we came down as soon as the buffet opened. We really regretted paying for dinner because it was cold, bland and like something you would perhaps serve kids in a school cafeteria. It should be easy to make a few simple salads that people like, but there would be strange soggy things or unidentified meats in

Immaculate service, but somewhat worn out hotel

We stayed in Kaani Beach in December 2019. We had a deluxe room with a sea view. We were supposed to have double room, but ended up with similar family room.

The service attitude of the staff was throughout our stay immaculate: truly helpful and welcoming. Not matter what we asked, they went above and beyond excellent.

The hotel itself is somewhat worn out, which one cannot see from the presentation pictures (see images in review).

Also important note: the view from the rooms to the beach and sea is no longer pristine, as a variety of garden shacks have been built in front of the hotel, between the rooms and the sea. All kinds of junk were stored in the shacks, visible also to the hotel balconies (see picture attached, although the photo is almost forgiving to the junk stored).

Maafushi itself is a nice island, in the midst of a rapid tourism growth phase. I believe some local said there is almost 3000 bed places in the island now.

All tours, boats and services ran smooth in Maafushi, and one can expect almost every situation to be sorted out fast and smooth.

I would recommend Maafushi & Kaani beach as a place to start or end your trip, but do try other islands as well in your trip.

We had a wonderful day at the kaani beach hotel.
The hospitality of the staffs are impeccable and we really appreciate their service throughout the 8 days 7 nights when we are there.

Micheal is such an incredible host and he made sure we are comfortable during our stay. We brought our parents along and they enjoyed it as much too. The facility is near to the port, beach and the most of the activities.

The counter made sure that we had umbrellas when it was pouring and Micheal sat us down to plan the whole itinerary for us. Despite 1 full day of rain, we still got to do everything that we wanted.

The activities that kaani tours (affiliated) that they had to offer are affordable and great. We formed a bond with all the boatman and they were just amazing.

Thank you for making our trip such an incredible stay. Definitely made the whole trip memorable.

At Maafushi Island with magnificent beach view

Food available at restaurant especially breakfast on the island area is good. Staff is professional, friendly and is very supportive. The hotel is located front of the beach, near to the jetty station, and rest of the water activities. The Mosque is as well very near. If you decide to stay in this hotel, please check the room condition, most importantly the air conditioner and all the door locks before finalizing and taking the room key. In bathroom, the shower area got a steel tray in a corner with sharp edges, please be careful. Regarding water activities please check the prices and timings according to your convenience from hotel management and as well as other providers. You place tag or not outside the door doesn't matter, whether for room cleaning or even for do not disturb doesn’t work, better call reception and update/request them the service you require. WiFi not good, so arrange yours or just chill around. Last but not least the view from room balcony is awesome.

My husband and i checked in for one night due to a sudden change in travel plans. The room itself was decent but the woman working reception was awful. They didnt tell us a time for breakfast so i checked the information booklet in our room for the time, but when we went downstairs they told us it was over and the book was wrong. Then I called reception twice for asistance with our bags, and the woman hung up on me mid sentence both times. And still no one showed up until my husband called a third time and a man answered. The location is nice and the room was nice, but that type of rude service ruined the entire experience for us.

They actually moved us to kaani village a few doors down.. because they said the hotel was booked.. it was still nice only that the bathroom didnt have an exhaust.. and every morning the bathroom would stink.. when we asked the staff, he was really nice but i do not think he understood what was going on.. he just said do not flush or put water... overall the place was nice... for meals better eat out if you want variety or you will be eating the same food everyday.

It was a nightmare right from start.

1. For transportation to the island that is only 24km away they asked $169 each; we independetly found a ride for afix rate for both me and my fiance $40.
2. When we arrived we were shocked that the hotel we got didn't even look any close to the one we booked on Expedia. It was all photoshopped and misrepresented as a resort island when in fact it was a jail island with strict traditional rules that applied to all tourists.
3. We were allowed to use the one and only tiny beach reserved for tourists of all of the 3 hotels.
4. Local restaurants had a very poor choice of food and the overall hygiene was pretty poor aswell.
5. They advised not to go out at night and the doors were locked with security present. The whole island was dark after 10pm.
6. There was no alcohol allowed on the whole island.
7. From the start we were offered daily tours off the island to different resorts at additional cost, starting $80 for a half day trip.
8. The overly polite managment of the hotel failed to explain the misrepresentation of everything put on Expedia. We were faced with big smiles and white lies.
9. Next day we decided to leave even though we paid for 7 nights. We booked a nearby resort on a different island that was around 4 km away for double price.
They proveded us with a $190 transportation as it was the only option. We paid $45 since it was an evident robbery.
That saved us from a long dissapointing journey as we ended up having a great trip.

This hotel was perfect. The location was amazing right outside the bikini beach and close to the port. For a 4 night stay in the Maldives this was great if you are on a budget. The activities on the island were amazing offering more than the average local resort island. The staff at the hotel helped you out where ever they could and got you what you needed. The local restaurants were delicious, better tasting than the food that I had at my resort stay.
Was cool also to see what the locals got up too and do some souvenir shopping.

Cheap and inexpensive, but normal stuff are broken

I know you get what you pay for, but there are some things that should work and have no issues.
First off the room I had the door was really hard to shut and close, so sometimes it wouldn’t lock properly. When I was about to go to sleep, I noticed the windows weren’t locked, luckily no one stole any of my stuff.
The ac was leaking water, and leaked all over my clothes and stuff.
The room was dirty.
Staff was excellent and was really nice but besides that my experience in the room was bad.

1. On Wednesday, we took the only 3pm ferry from Male to Maafushi. It took us about 2 hours. The hotel staff came to greet at the jetty and walked us to the hotel which was about 200m away, really close to Bikini Beach.
2. Check-in was fast, some staff are friendly but some are not so (or just a little too quiet).
3. Room condition (number 105) was good, towels not to soft but still ok. Only shower foam, shampoo and body lotion was provided, no toothbrush or toothpaste. We asked for more shower foam and they delivered it to the room. (Foam was my favorite in the hotel, it was really good!)
The room had both air-cond and fan.
4. Breakfast choices varied slightly on both days and tasted decent.
5. We didn't have lunch/dinner here.
6. Sunbeds are provided for free.
6. Speedboat was arranged for USD20/pax on Friday as public ferry wasn't available.
But the view from the balcony is mostly covered by the coconut trees. Perhaps, this hotel can improve their terrace for sky gazing at night.
Overall good experience.

Nice but not in top value

I have stay on the island for a while and stay in some other hotels, The Kaani beach hotel was my last day choice. The room is nice but format not useful. No coffee or tea bag in room, not big deal, but my room was not well format for user friendly, very hard to use electronic device. lighting is not convenient and comfortable. Comparing the price, this hotel is in upper scale on the Maharishi island, but I can get cheaper rate for a better room and view from other hotel on the same island. the hotel is not bad, but it is not very attractive. I may come back but depends on the price.

about location, it is goo but actually there is no so call \"bad\" location on the Maafushi island. Every hotel is not far from each other every hotel is easy too reach by your self once you leave the boat. if you don't book room with sea view, you can ignore a hotel's location close to beach or not, because they are all very close within few steps

We booked an exercusion package from this hotel and the participants were more than 30++, where all of us sat in a same boat with limited seat. Total passenger with crews were more than boat capacity! Those who come late need sat outside under the sun. The space to move around and to store our stuff was very limited. During the sandbank tour, the staff also didnt inform us earlier that they want to rescue a group of participants. All of us panic when we saw our boat left us and return with strangers. We also worried if our belongings were stolen. Luckily, no stolen item were reported.

Apart from that, we also were unhappy with the staff of this hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, we waited for more than 30 minutes for the staff to bring us to our room. In the morning (around 7am), we wanted to do snorkelling in front of the hotel for at least half an hour. However, the staff didnt give us permission to borrow their snorkeling gear because they claimed they wanted to clean the googles with special chemical which may takes times, since the exercusion will start at 9am. We did informed them we were one of the participants that exercusion package. However, the staff keeps give other excuses.

Luxury home away from home!

We booked Kaani beach as a cheaper alternative rather than a resort island and it did not disappoint! The beds were comfortable. All the staff were amazing and made you feel like part of the Kaani Family. Really looked after us and made sure we had everything we needed. We went on a Snorkelling trip organised by the hotel which was really good and cost around $35 which is very reasonable. We went full board and the food was good sometimes would of liked a few more options (especially for vegetarians!)but lots of local restaurants. Beach is stunning and well looked after. Highly recommended!!! Thanks Magic Mike, all the reception and restaurant team at Kaani Grand as well!

The location if this hotel is superb, it is not too far from the jetty. The foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner are delicious. They have playground in front of the hotel, suitable for kids. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The exercusion organized by hotel was also great.

As a Resort doctor in a 4star resort in maldives ,i visited maafushi and kaani hotel on its rumour of its value and i was amazed with the kind and efficient staff,only dissapointment is i couldnt get a sea view room so when booking it would be a bonus to check on that ,but personally we only spent time at the room late night and we woke up early and enjoyed the sunrise on the beach.Food was satisfactory as we took half board so we could explore the food around the island.definite must visit reccommendation and i will surely visit again no doubt .

Magic Maldives Trip (THE review)

Very good experience at kaani beach!Strategic location and nice room view. Magic sakti is friendly n helpful to us and welcome us with open arms. Other staffs were great as well. Kaani princess is magnificent... I danced my night away.

Improvements to be made : Our room experience alot of power trips so the maintainence team shd inspect the rooms regularly to avoid this problems. Also, breakfast should include more varieties.

Wonderful Staff, good location

All the staff at Kaani Beach Hotel were extremely accommodating, friendly and pleasant. We were made to feel welcome and were on hand to make our stay memorable by suggesting activities to suit our circumstances. We had amazing experiences and would highly recommend them to family and friends.

The only downside was that the rooms were basic but very clean and comfortable.

The hotel is located at Mafushi Island which is well connected via speed boats to other Island. Liked Day Packages. Shakti provided great service. The morning BF and evening dinner were great.

We only stayed for the nights at kaani (only because there were no rooms Available for the other nights) and it was absolutely perfect. The staff did everything they could to make sure we were having a good time. The food is very good (many vegetarian options) and the hotel is a 2 minute walk from the bikini beach.
If ever in maafushi we will definitely go to kaani.
Ps: if you have kids they have a park in the hotel which is great if they don't want to spend all day at the beach!

breakfast is extremely poor - chief should be replaced as soon as possible (check tripadvisor review if still doubting), we didn't dare to try dinner as nearby restaurants offer cheap and good food, hotel offers nice day tour packages - but they charge in usd instead of local mvr which is ridiculous, currency exchange is fixed and much higher than market price - you are loosing twice: once when buying mvr, second when converting to usd, staff is helpful

I found it suitable for stay, close to the beach and the best rooms are front to beach in the second floor and close to the beach. staff were friendly, helpful, smiley. They gave us free snorkeling and biking. Their food were great but more expensive than other restaurant. Also their tour prices were higher than others in maafushi and we found some chipper trips. Overall I recommend it and by this price its the best option in maldive

What a happy place!

Lovely stay at the Kaani Beach Hotel, whilst the facilities are basic; there is everything you need. Staff are super attentive and absolutely wonderful; a joy to be around and never a dull moment with the guys at Kaani Beach. Comfortable rooms with all the AC needs you WILL need with the temperatures in Maafushi. Seconds from the beach and being under the Kaani Hotels, you are able to use the other hotels facilities also.

Amazing - great friendly staff

Had an amazing time at Maafushi, stsying at Kaani Beach. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Met and waved home at the ferry. Arranged some awesome day trips, snorkelling, sandbank picnic and dolphins, no pressure sell, just great trips worth every dollar. Take a usb memory stick and the hotel will transfer photos from the day including underwater! Our room was clean, spacious and everything we needed. The location is perfect, opposite bikini beach, so kicked off the shoes and enjoyed sandy toes all week! We chose b&b which was fine, but also joined the buffet bbq for dinner some nights, which was varied and good value. Snorkelling kit and beach towels can be borrowed free. We had a brilliant time, thank you to all the fab staff :)

Do NOT stay there, the worse in Maafushi

This hotel is one of the worst we have ever stayed at (and we travel absolutely extensively). They are so cheap (and watch carefully everything as their only goal seems to be extracting money from guests) that beach towels had holes (yes several and big ones) in them, water bottle (which costs 30 cents in the store across from the hotel) definitively rationed, breakfast absolute junk. The manager is very dishonest, pressuring guests for good ratings, but will hide -and lie- about information such as transfer to and from the airport (resulting in a much move significant charge by the hotel).

Here to dive. Hotel staff went in fits of being helpful to failing to follow through with requests. The beds are horrible!!!! After asking several times for a solution, none was provided. Limited options when staying on this island, however the beds should be more comfortable than sleeping on the floor.

Fantastic stay at Kaani Beach Hotel. The staff (Tiger, Kadir, Ammex, and the team) were hospitable and warm - they treated us like family!

The people of Maafushi are the friendliest in the world. We had this guy called Kefu call us over just to show us baby sharks swimming by the beach.

On one of the streets is an incredibly talented painter, Afu, who makes wonderful paintings.

The only thing we were not used to was waiting for our meals. The kitchen cooks to the order, so expect to wait 30 mins at least for your food. But it's not a matter because you are on holiday! The tuna fried rice everywhere on the island is a real treat.

Common necessities are available at local prices next door to Kaani Beach hotel, so don't fret.

We visited Anantara Dhigu resorts and it was like a paradise. For a day visit, it's worth it. And do use the credits for your lunch and (take away) dinner.

People are nice, the rooms are clean and location is really good (very close to bikini beach where you can wear swimsuits). Had a great time there.

Couldn't have chosen a better hotel in Maafushi!

We couldn't have chosen a better hotel in Maafushi.

Highly recommended by travelers who just want to have fun and be adventurous whilst you experience the local culture (food, hospitality and hotspots).
Staff who are namely , Ahmed (James) , Hussain and Mark(excursion guide) were beyond amazing. We felt like they knew us for ages as they were very welcoming and were always with smiles day and night - literally.

The location was conveniently located between the two most popular restaurants in Maafushi - Hot Bites and Rehendhi for people like us who like to try various cuisines. Plus steps away from a local supermarket/shop for your daily needs. Kaani Beach is also one of the closest to the famous private beach for tourists only.

Overall - Better than the Best!

Convenient Location within South Male Atoll

Overall the holiday stay was pleasant and good. This hotel among others is located within a local village island named Maafushi. Many Sea sports service providers are available. The only challenging part of the trip is commuting from airport to this island which is very costly via speed boat but super cheap via local ferry which only commutes once a day at specified timings. So time your arrival and departure flights well.

Hotel was clean, rooms were comfortable, internet was good, staff was very welcome and helpful. They can organise excursions for you, and pickup and drop-off on airport for reasonable price.

Good hotel & service but nothing special

The great view from the ocean view rooms is what made this hotel Good/Average. The dinner was very little food and not much taste. The service people are very friendly albeit there is some deception around the speed boat fees to the airport. We paid $178 one way from the airport wanting to avoid another large bill, we asked at the desk about how to get a lower cost. What a fiasco - we had a 10:55 flight, and there were other people in the hotel's guarded 'black book' who had return trips leaving a 9 and another later. We had to leave by 8 (my wife and I). We asked 4X if the other party would agree to an earlier trip as the cost goes down with more people. They never asked until the last day we were there - they then told me the people agreed. So we went to dinner, I came back and asked if I could pay up front - they then told me the people had refused?? I think they game guests for as many trips with as few of people as possible. We then went and bought a ticket for $60 from the Stingray where we then went back to the Kaani. When we returned and told the desk staff that we bought a ticket from another hotel for 6:15 they then were agitated that I bought a ticket from another hotel telling me they had a 6:30 person leaving???

Trip of a lifetime

Had an absolutely amazing time and hotel,facilities and activities come highly recommended. The Hotel staff could not be more helpful and welcoming and the manager , James , ensured your stay was complete. The beach was golden and the water so warm and crystal clear. Local stalls on the beach sold Mango , Pineapple and other fruits which were a refreshing interlude to the sunbathing and swimming. Those more active could enjoy a variety of water sports including water skiing and sailing. The activity packages organised by the hotel were amazing and many hours could be spent snorkelling, having picnics or dolphin watching to name but a few.

Best hotel in Maafushi

For people who usually stay in 2 to 3 star hotels, Kaani Beach Hotel on Maafushi is for you. It gives you the opportunity to visit different resorts every day. Staff at reception will organise that for you on daily basis. Kaani Beach Hotel uses its own speed boats at a reasonable cost. You are then required to pay an entry fee at the resort to use their facilities and it usually includes lunch. In this order, I recommend 1. Kandooma Holiday Inn, 2. Rihiveli Resort and 3. Fahilhohi Resort. By doing as I have suggested so far, as a tourist, you get it good from both worlds. Firstly, you stay on a village island at a reasonable cost for accommodation and during the day, you can enjoy a resort style facilities and only pay an entry fee which vary from place to place. For breakfast and dinner, Kaani Beach Hotel provides good local meals at a cheap price.

Just did not stay at Kaani

Like to start of by saying Maafushi is very beautiful and perfect for budget travelers. We had booked with Kaani but due to their lapses they had been overbooked and we got to stay at White shell and later on since they had again not booked correctly we moved to Narnia. Both the hotels we stayed at were superb and we were compensated with a full board meal plan by Kaani and full use of the hotel facilities. Narnia is a very very new hotel and very beautiful.

I agree with what I had read online before going there. It is a good place for a budget conscious holiday. But you have to calculate in some extra money to take trips to other islands as the beach at the hotel is not that great. It's ok for a short swim but not the enjoyable Maldives island experience. Other islands provide a lot more beautiful beaches and reefs. Yet the good side of staying on this island is that you get to mix with locals (on the cheap ferry - which I also enjoyed a lot more than the speed boats) and on the island itself. You get the local prices for water, fruits etc. that you can buy in shops close by.

Disappointing stay

The images from the hotel are missleading.
They were taken maybe 10 years ago, before all the buildings was setup in front of the hotel.
A lot of noice in the night because of the bars and resturants below.
The reception was not used and we have to go to next door hotel for service and breakfast.

OK hotel. Cleaning very good. A small table at the balcony would be nice. Breakfast not very good. We had been travelling for 2 weeks before arriving to this hotel and we never had a breakfast with this little choice. Room for improvement. Hotel central and close to bikini beach.

O hotel era razoável, porém nessa época de pandemia NÃO exigia que os hóspedes utilizassem máscaras nas áreas comuns do hotel. Além disso tinha serviço de buffet no café da manhã e almoço, sem sequer disponibilizar luvas e álcool para as pessoas se servirem.
Muitos funcionários também não utilizavam máscara, o que é um absurdo!
Haviam avisos nas áreas comuns para as pessoas usarem máscaras, porém NINGUÉM usava e o hotel não cobrava.
Ficamos muito assustados e não recomendaríamos o hotel nessa época de pandemia.
Se não fosse por isso, a experiência poderia ter sido ótima.

The hotel is clean, spacious and ideally located nearby to the bikini beach, shops and restaurants on Maafushi. The rooms are great, very well air-conditioned and the cleaning service is brilliant. All in this place was valuable for us. We stayed for a few days and the staff was very helpful and polite with everything we needed. They helped with explanations about the trips and it was really important for us rookie out decisions about what to do in 4 days. Thanks to all staff for everything. We would recommend this hotel to other families and will definitely stay again when we return to Maafushi.

ローカル島のホテルなので高級リゾートホテルとは違うと言うことを認識していれば十分だと思います。
ちなみにコンセントはマルチタイプなのでどれでもOKになってました。
また、このカニーグループは近所にあと2つあり、相互で連携しています。
エクスカーションもカニーグループでやっていて、他のリゾートホテルと比べても良心的でした。

シティビューの部屋に2泊滞在

写真ではかなり綺麗な部屋だったが実際は年期が入っている部屋のドアの建て付けは悪くトイレのドアもまともに閉まらない明らかにメンテナンスを怠っている
朝食も予想以上に貧相で外で食べた方が良い期待していたが残念なホテルだった
ただシービューの部屋の方はメンテナンスしてあるらしくドアも新しくバルコニーも有り良さそう滞在するならそっちにするべき
ビキニビーチまで1分という好立地なのでその点ではお勧めできる

Beautiful experience with Kaani Beach Hotel

We went for our honey moon in Kaani Beach hotel and it was an unforgettable experience. Their workers have unique human values and treated us so well, that we felt we were like at home. It is incredible how they pay attention to every detail, and try to make the best experience for you in anything they make.

If you go for your honey moon, let them know and they will prepare a small surprise for your arrival. We also had a dinner in the beach and it was awesome.

Moreover, Kaani is a big group and they have everything very well organised. We took all our excursions with them and indeed it was an amazing experience all of them. They will make your trip very special.

Regarding their cleanliness, it also was very good. They take care of every detail and we felt very comfortable all the time. If you have any special request, they will make the effort to do it, as they did with us.

The food was also very nice and we had some of it that we never tried in Spain. During your food they will be paying attention to anything you need to make you feel at home.

Just can say thank you to this hotel, who were able to make our honey moon very special. Indeed we would come back any time here. We have been in more than 100 hotels, but this one is the most customer oriented one we have experienced. Thanks to all the people we met, they are very special.
