Service? Hello??

Service was terrible! We arrived from the airport hungry for dinner to be told the restaurant is closed as well as the bar. When we asked about any nearby restaurants that are good, we were told to use UberEats. Apparently, everything at the hotel is closed when it’s not peak season which we were not told ahead of time. Also, the front desk only works business hours and won’t answer the phone even then! When we approached the desk for checkout, we heard the phone ringing and ringing but the guy at the desk made no effort to answer, and was not serving any other customers either.
It’s a large room with beautiful furnishings, but the bed is hard as a rock.

The staff went out of their way to make sure my son and I had everything we needed. The room I was in was right at the edge of the property next to a park by the lake which didn’t feel entirely safe but at the end of the day I would recommend the hotel.

good choice for business and leisure, friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms, good restaurant and pleasant outside area around the pool. drawback is the proximity to the freeway on the other side of the lake which emits quite a bit of noise during the day.

Lots of improvement required

Not so good. Mosquitoes in the room, bathroom door banging all night, buffet food was cold, neighbors TV loud in the early house, reception Ed chaotic and they had one set of bathroom towels regardless of the number of guest in the room. Power points not working properly

The room was really nice, the only problem is that the shower leaked all over the floor and it was difficult to reach the plugs to switch on the TV
there were also only 2 channels

The hotel is extremely busy and noisy. When there are conferences, the hotel should not book rooms for private guests. The noise went on until after 2 in the morning.

Highly recommended

Rooms very big and comfortable. Lots of cupboards. Reception staff so accommodating and helpful, not to mention sweet and friendly. On check-in I was upgraded to an available suite, nice size. Just a pity it overlooked the highway, so it was a bit noisy, but private balcony. Two days before check-out they started renovating the suite next door - terrible noise. I complained and they immediately stopped until I checked out. I checked in again some days later after a short trip and was booked into another room. Beautiful, spacy, clean, private verandah with loungers and chairs and table. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Clean linen. Nice spa on site, excellent massage and wonderful staff. Highly recommended. Will definitely stay here again.

Had a room where you could hear other guests coming and going. They were also very noisy at 02:00 in the morning.

The standard of this room was not the same as the one before.
Television volume was to loud at minimum setting.

the room was totally random - there was no even a coffee machine or coffee/tea station and not even a jug of water and glasses available in the room - I even had to go out to buy water at a nearby shop. the \"lounge\" had a boardroom table and chairs and a tv and fireplace but no couch. the receptionist was not friendly at all. this hotel is definitely not recommended for a romantic evening. I won't be back anytime soon. the cielo restaurant was superb but quite pricey. I'm afraid that the hotel was a complete let down!!!

Avoid if at all possible

Couldn't find my booking for 1 hour. Plug sockets didn't work properly in room. Hotel very noisy, walls paper thin. Forgot to book me a car twice. Staff pocketing money personally for laundry and taxi services... The one redeeming feature was that the restaurant in the same grounds (Ciello) was excellent, great service and great food. That almost made it worth it.

Never Again

Probably the worst Hotel I have stayed at for a very long time. The price charged does not match the facilities. Generally the Hotel was dirty and service was non existent. WIFI did not work and no two prong plugs to charge devices. Wanted to charge me a deposit to rent one?

Spacious, comfy bed & linend, nice bathroom

It was most pleasant, the food was excellent at the hotel as well as the restaurant, the service was outstanding and will definately be my first choice of accommodation for my next trip. Since the location is perfect for me, the security was comforting and having an iron and ironing board as well as a hairdrier I hope to be able to stay there again.

The Lakes was a convenient spot to stay over before an early am flight out of JNB without spending more for Intercontinental/Sun and getting higher quality than the hotels along the R21.

Hotel currently being extended but building work not intrusive. Clean but a little tired looking and in need of some painting. Advertised as having WiFi but none available we were told that it is not working and were offered access to the reception computer, this proved very inconvenient.

Good Value Hotel

The room was very nice with a beautiful view overlooking the lake. The hotel had a nice retro bar and food was tasty. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I thought generally the hotel was good value for money.

The only negative was the lack of a generator during the two hour power cut.

Attractive, reasonably-priced hotel within a 15-minute drive of Johannesburg International airport.

I was quite satisfied with all aspects of the hotel. The included buffet breakfast was quite complete, with many types of fruit, cereals, bread and hot foods. The hotel bar served very reasonably-priced drinks which were enjoyed on the attractive patio which overlooked the lake.

The hotel is apparently in the process of updating the bath facilities; my first room had a lovely soaking tub and large separate shower, but the second one had a shower over a standard tub. Beds were comfortable. My only irritation, which I found in common in all three South African hotels in which I stayed, was the interior lighting in the room was too weak for comfortable reading.

i would suggest that future guests would benefit by having a car available. There are a number of small shopping areas, restaurants, ATMs which are about a mile away, and I do not think there is public transportation.

swimming pool ridiculous

We stay only one night at this big hotel, fortunatly. Our room, abit small, views a nice lake that is along a road, so it was a bit noisy. The so called \"swimming pool\" is about 2,5 meters large and 8 meters long, almost in the parking lots. The is no space for a chair aside the pool. We were disapointed by this hotel because nothing to do in or ouside the hotel when you are just a tourist. The good points of this hotel : you can use a computer room and that they are nice ducks to watch along the lake.
