Bare bones but central and relatively clean and affordable for Amsterdam. We had a family room for four which has a double bed and desk in the main room and then a small hallway, with privacy door, led to a small room with couch and additional double bed. Windows overlooked a small courtyard and did not open. Bathroom was modern and updated. Desk was chipped but functional and small armoire for storage/hanging. No amenities and must use stairs. Check in at restaurant downstairs. Some noise at night with other guests coming and going.

Hotel was basic but just fine if you’ll be out most the day exploring. The location is great.
Funny smell when we arrived but was ok once aired out.
No where to store bags so have to pay to store elsewhere which was a bit annoying.
Bar downstairs was nice.

This was thee worst hotel stay- you checked in what was a closet and I was over charged then directed up 4 flights of stairs to an attic room that slanted- had a filthy rug and a bathroom with no mirror over sink ( to see your self shave) freezing cold slept with my cost over me. No blankets no reception desk or manager to ask via no phone 0h let me climb down 4 flights to ask a ?? Re heat?1 we are 74 and struggled with luggage asked if we could have help going back down stairs - got oh sure- then not a soul about my husband struggling hurt his foot on stairs. On exiting side door dumpster overflowing with old food all over street area. Thee worst ever. Hit my head 2xs on low ceiling and make shift curtains to hide light coming in. Nightmare!! & we paid money for this!! Stay away from this place

Love, love, love this place! Stayed here 3 nights in April, 2026 and also 3 nights in April 2025.
Place is very cozy. Entire staff is very
sweet and helpful! Rooms, restaurant and entire hotel very clean and well kept. Location is amazing! Tram stop is about 15 yards from the door and takes you to the center of Amsterdam, where all the action is.

The location is excellent. It's walking distance from Central Station, Anne Frank Huis, and to the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum. The staff were helpful. It was nice to have the restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. The downsides were the steep stairs and having to climb 4 flights; there was no signal on my flat screen, and my key card stopped working 1 day before check out.

Room was clean. Staff pleasant at checkin but because hotel is above restaurant there isn’t a front desk at all hours as there would be in a regular hotel. I was told my room wasn’t ready at noon (checkin at 2) but they let me drop my luggage in the room anyway, which was most appreciated. The room was clearly clean and ready but i didn’t push it. They don’t have room for luggage storage after check out so you need to use a luggage locker, privately run around the city. There is one a very short walk away but good to know. No elevator and my room was on the top 4th floor. Narrow stairs, too. Great for a backpack traveller, but less ideal if you are carrying a suitcase. Mattresses is on the thin side, but ok for a single night. Only other complaint, which drove my rating down to 3 was that the area is a tad busy and I could hear overnight traffic. With only ceiling windows in my attic room, I couldn’t see the street below to get an idea of where sounds were coming from.

Steep stairs to carry your Luggage but location was definitely worth it. Right next door to large church and right at a tram line. Restaurant downstairs was very good. Very short walk to Dam square. Rooms were better than pics we saw.

This hotel doesn't have an elevator and we needed to use dangerous steps to go to the 2rd floor. Also, it doesn't have a space to keep our suitcases for a few hours. We had an awful experience.

A hostel not a hotel! Stayed in room 11, a poky attic double up 4 flights of narrow stairs. Payed £170 through Hotel.com plus £16.29 tax. Exorbitant! The room was clean but poorly designed and soul-less. The beds were short - I’m 5’10 and bumped my head on the eave. The bedroom was cool (no heating), only two pillows available. The mirror in the bathroom is in the wrong place for shaving, the plug didn’t stop the water from draining and the shower pressure was very poor. One positive being on the 4th floor it was quiet. It have staying in far superior 2* hotels in Amsterdam. This one needs to be downgraded.

The rooms are situated above a diner. No reception office just a small table with a laptop and a chair in the corner of the diner, no storage for luggage, checking 2pm no sooner no chance. Rooms tiny bare minimum, no kettle,no fridge.No lift stairs narrow with narrow steps difficult to go up with big luggage. The only plus is its location near city center and train station.

Excellent location near Dam Square. Above Bar/Restaurant but has its own Hotel entrance. I had solo room on the 4th floor which was every small. The main problem was 4 flights of steep stairs - no lift - no need to go go to the Gym if you stay here.

Spent one night here and it was great! The staff could not be nicer, there was a city wide power outage so we enjoyed some drinks by candlelight in the bar! The room (triple) was spacious and clean! The location is perfect for exploring by foot or hopping on a tram. The breakfast was also great! Would definitely stay here again!

You need to clarify no elevator and rooms are 2-3 stores up. The room was clean and spacious, bare amenities. Downstairs is a bar and restaurant where you check in. The manager and employees were extremely helpful and took our bags up as we were 2 females traveling for 2 weeks.

Overally great stay, such a good location, there was 4 of us so we had a quad room which was spacious and comfortable. It was quite noisy during the night with the trams and people walking by, but thats what you get being right in the heart of the city. We did have a small issue with the door handle breaking, but we let the staff know and when we returned it had been fixed.
The bar/ cafe downstairs was great and the food was nice, staff were also very friendly.

Great location but could be better

Stayed here for a few days with my mum. The room was nice and made up as the requested twins but due to the shape of the room there was no way around the bed expect to step over the bed it’s or crawl over which isn’t great for my 82yr old mum. I had to split the beds up and rearrange them.
The bedside tables are cheap and wonky so had to tighten up the bolts. The wardrobe door handle kept hitting the bathroom switch and the other door wouldn’t open due to the ceiling beam.

Daily the bins were emptied and fresh towels left.

The location itself was great for getting about although our room was at the front so heard a lot of the road noise.

The Corner House Hotel is certainly right in the middle of the action in Amsterdam and is well situated near the railway station, canals, tram lines and shops and restaurants. Having the restaurant and bar on site is also a plus.

The rooms and common areas are very clean. The staff is great too and meals in the restaurant are very good.

However, be aware that this very much a budget hotel with no lifts, no room decor and minimal room amenities. It is better suited to spry students, who don’t mind stairs or for those on a strict budget. There is no air conditioning in the rooms as in many European countries.

However, that being said, we did enjoy our stay here although it got a bit noisy at night as the area around it is very popular and is home to many bars and restaurants.

Great location but, Find somewhere else to stay

5 nights in room 3 (Earth). There is no 24/7 reception as advertised. In fact, there is no reception. There is a desk and computer in a corner of the cafe/restaurant. For any help you need to find a member of the serving staff.
The staff themselves were friendly enough, but this didn't make up for the room/'hotel'. The room was basic. The toilet seat was loose and the toilet would run (noisy). The shower head was poor with water leaking from the frame of it rather than the nozzles.
We were also without hot water for a fully night and day, and only when we complained in the morning were we told that it should have been sorted the evening before. It wasn't, but was sorted by the following evening.

The bed was old and creaky and the walls thin. When any other guest closed a room door, the wall shook with it. (Also beware; steep stairs aren't for everyone)

The room was cleaned every day. The room cleaning started at 0800 and the vacuuming of the nearby rooms ruins an opportunity for a holiday lie-in.

In all great location next to Dam Square, but really poor for the price paid.
My recommendation, find somewhere else even if it costs a little more.

Excellent location and value for money for our short stay as a family of four. The quad room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We ate in the cafe downstairs and our meal was lovely and reasonably priced, the staff were welcoming. No issues apart from the very steep staircases, which can’t be helped in the traditional style buildings and some noise from the trams and traffic, but we were aware this was a central and lively area and it was worth a bit of noise to be so convenient and able to walk to the train station in 10 minutes.

Amsterdam Corner House stay

The reception was good and helpful too. However, the room was spacious, but the cleanliness was not to our expectation. The bedding wasn’t as clean as we would have liked. The shower head was in need of maintenance and the actual shower area, although it looked like a wet room, I feel there should be a shower door. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was delicious. It was ideal for a walking tour around the old town and within walking distance of the railway station.

This hotel pleasantly surprised us! The room was spacious and clean with fresh bedding and towels. It had most essential amenities (dryer, fan, vanity, closet, safe). The location was absolutely perfect - walking distance to the central station, nearby restaurants, attractions, bars. We walked to and from most places and it was very safe and convenient, especially as female travelers. We were able to check in 2 hours early with ease. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating - even at 4am when we ordered some food and they received it and delivered it to our room. Access to the hotel was 24/7. Would highly recommend!

Clean and tidy rooms but very small and no kettle to make a drink with, this forces you to go down to the hotel bar where you can purchase a teabag and water for €4.50 and very overpriced food The location was good as central but the downside of this was the rooms were very noisy, trams outside beeping until the early hours, luggage being clunked up and down the stairs all night and the hotel doors slamming shut then the scraping of the bars metal tables and chairs being moved outside. If you’re happy to have no sleep then stay here

Hotel is near Amsterdam palace, shopping areas, Dam square and the Red Light District. Hotel has a lovely restaurant beneath it where we had dinner one evening. Hotel felt safe and quiet. Staff were friendly and efficient. Hotel, restaurant and hotel room were clean. One thing negative was, when we arrived we noticed the shower head was broken so couldn’t attach to metal pole and water sprayed in different places to just the holes on shower head - this made showering for myself and my Mum difficult. We let the staff know when we checked out that we were not happy about this and that we also wanted it fixed for the next guests. Apart from that, our stay was fine. Thank you.

Hostel style priced like a normal hotel! Stayed in a attic tiny room with extremely! steep stairs and no elevator. No ac or heating. No soundprooofing. 1 teeny tiny pillow. Could barely turn around in the bathroom. Hair dryer did not work. Partying, yelling, and other loud noises non-stop all night. Only plus was nice staff and the fact that it was close to the center. Hostel style room but priced at $150/nt which is ridiculous! Stairs are a total safety hazard. No luggage storage, check in is at the restaurant and no front desk.

We stayed in room 8 Ocean: quite specious, clean, newly renovated (not fancy but nice). We had 3 windows, with one face church.
If light sleeper you should bring earplugs! You can hear tram and people passing by. This is probably only downside of this hotel.

Took over an hour to check in bcz of a mixup apparently w/Expedia, where I booked but mgmt cleared it up. The steps are terrible and the steepest leading up to rooms. If you fall down them, kiss ur a** good-bye. Tiny rooms, had bad view of rooftop/trash and pigeons (brug room 19). However, convenient location to everything.

Hotel Corner House is located in a nice area of Amsterdam, and just off Dam Square, so easy to get to whether walking or catching the convenient tram. The bar downstairs is welcoming and a popular spot for food & drink all day… I thought it was a very reasonable price for my stay, although I’d definitely pay extra to have a double room next time instead of a small single room on the 4th floor. Not sure if the other rooms are different but I would have enjoyed some coffee making facilities but with all that, the hotel suited my needs as a base for exploring Amsterdam!

Definitely don’t recommend this lodging choice for anyone with heavy bags as there are no elevators. We had to manage our suitcases up three flights of steep stairs and I had to promise my husband I’d never book any place like this ever again. The location is central and convenient, but pretty noisy. There’s no formal lobby or services, no coffeemaker in the room, and the bathroom felt bare bones, like a hospital bathroom. Great for young people on a budget, with lightweight bags and strong backs.

An excellent hotel at a resonable price, within a short walking distance of the attractions. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it is very clean. My room was small, but had all i needed with a great en suite with hot water at all times of the day.
This is Amsterdam and there is no lift but the staff were very good and took my suitcase upstairs for me and bought it down, plus kept it safe until i left.
The food is excellent, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Construction on the road in front made the entire area very dirty and litter strewn, very unlike Amsterdam. We were on the 3rd floor and the stairs are very steep. The water pressure in the shower was weak, very hard to take a decent shower. The area can be fairly noisy late at night.

The lovely Corner House Hotel

We had the best time in Amsterdam! The Corner House Hotel was perfect in every way. Friendly, helpful and happy staff. Clean and comfy rooms. Ideal location. Highly recommend staying here.

We loved the staff at this hotel, they were very accommodating. Only issue is no elevator, so be prepared to walk up with your luggage. Everything else was very good!

The most quaint Hotel / Eatery I've come across and great value for money. Could not flaw it in anyway baring the stairs up to the rooms, myself I had no issues but they are quite a steep set of stairs all the way up to the 4th floor so if you struggle with steep steps then I maybe would avoid this properties Hotel facilities but definitely check out the Restaurant/Bar if youre passing by.

Location, location, location was very good. Only suggestions is to improve poorly lit stairwells, very dark.
