Hey all you reviewers out there, I rely on your reviews to pick hotels. In the case of this place,the reviews I read and the 9.0 score were in an alternative universe compared to the place I stayed at. Yes, the name and address were the same but the descriptions were not of the hotel I experienced. It was a small, old, dark, clean, decent roadside motel from the 40s-50s, but. 9.0???? More like a decent 7.0. It’s a simple mom-n-pop operation with zero amenities beyond the most minimal basic essentials like teeny soap bars and threadbare towels that I admit do get the job done. If you are just looking for a basic place to crash on your way up/down the Oregon Coast, you won’t be disappointed. When I see a 9.0 rated place, I expect a great value. In this case I was disappointed in the place and in my community of reviewers who let me down with their hyperbolic ratings.

Comfortable bed and very quiet so I slept very well and didn’t want to get out of bed the next morning. Check in was a breeze, and the clerk was very nice and informative. I was as able to park right in front of my door making loading/unloading gear easy.

This is a quaint, homey family owned and operated (from what I could tell) motel. It is old, probably from the 60s, but very clean. The curtains looked like they had been carefully sewn most likely by the owner, and installed with nice pull backs. The tile in the bathroom was nicely installed, and the bathroom was very roomy. The sink had some cracks in it, and the toilet seat was worn, but everything was sparkling clean, and smelled clean. The grounds were thoughtfully groomed, and there were subtle decorations that are not present in corporate hotels. I absolutely loved staying here, and it was inexpensive too. I will stay here again whenever I visit Florence.

Those reviews stated \"The room had very potent deodorizer smell and didn't lessen with (the) window open.\" \"Reeked of room deodorizer\". \"'The bathroom has a musty urine smell.\"
After opening the door and also experiencing this VERY strong deodorizer smell, we immediately returned the key to the office and to sum it up were told were told no refund. I could understand their policy if our cancellation caused them to loose the revenue from this room for the date of our reservation, but they did not.
Please don't make the mistake we made and review the negative comments others have made about this property. I recommend you to stay at another property in Florence as we did if you don't want to stay at an old property with the problems that come with it as found by us and several other guests.

Our only negative comment is that we were in room #2, which has adjoining room doors. We could hear our neighbors too easily and clearly, even though they weren't being loud at all.

The first thing is the bed was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in. The floor would have been softer. The pillows were hard as rocks. They turn the fridge off when people check out. It did not even get cold enough to use until day three. There is so.ething up with the electrical. One of the bathroom lights and one of the lights by the bed flickered like a strobe light. The sad part is we have stayed at this place for over 15 years. In that time they have changed management so many times and have lost the aspect of making it like home. Unfortunately, we will have to break this tradition. For the price, it is worth staying at another motel/hotel down the street. I say the least, we were not just unhappy, we were broken hearted that this place has become what it is.

When I walked in the room I was shocked by how run-down it was, and it reeked of room deodorizer. We left the windows open for a couple of hours and it helped a bit. The floor was so old and grungy that I suspect no amount of cleaning could actually get it clean. However, the bed was comfortable and we slept well, so that was good. It was not really that cheap, so I expected more.
