Our Coco Reef stay was definitely not worth the high price that we paid. The decor of the rooms seem stuck in the 1980s. The food was expensive and not tasty. The beach was full or seaweeds. We did not enjoy this experience!

The property is beautiful, but the hotel needs a major facelift. Water from the shower actually hurt, tiling looked 50 years old, and the air conditioner barely kept up. The food at the restaurant was OK, but the meal did not match the description in the menu. All in all, this could be a great place to stay, they just need to invest a little bit of money.

The hotel staff, especially the housekeeping team, were outstanding. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely committed to making my stay comfortable. I only had breakfast at the hotel, but it was well prepared and enjoyable.

The hotel itself is in need of updates, primarily cosmetic improvements. I experienced air-conditioning issues in my original room and had to be moved. The new room also had a problem with the shower. However, in both cases, the staff responded immediately and resolved the issues as quickly as possible.

It seemed to me that the staff may be working with limited resources when it comes to property updates, but they more than make up for it with their professionalism, kindness, and dedication to guest satisfaction. Their exceptional service was the highlight of my stay.”

The hotel is very out-dated but the beach with breakwater and pool definitely make up for that and the beach service!

Their policies are more outdated than the room! What was crazy was that on Saturday night we were told we had no other option for dinner other than the buffet. My husband and I with our 4year old are not big eaters. 2 buffets would have definitely been too much, and no other option was available. We took a drive and got food from a restaurant on the strip but it was unnecessary and should have an a la carte option.

Additionally, we purchased food the next day and was told we could not eat it at the indoor bar.. makes no sense to be able to order food from their beach bar and not be able to have it in another one of their facilities. They couldn't plate it, so they put it in Styrofoam boxes and we walked down to the lobby and ate it there! This to me was very crazy!

All in all, it is a beautiful property and has amazing swimming especially for toddlers. The service, rooms and policies need to be updated!! If it was under an international flag it would have been much better!!

The hotel is in a great spot. The grounds and access to the beach is amazing. Food was good and staff were accommodating. The rooms are slightly dated and the room we stated in was damp bu the hotel did offer to move us. I would stay again despite this and have booked to return for later in the year. Tobago is beautiful

Coco Reef’s beachfront location is stunning, with breathtaking views & one of the best Wi-Fi experiences I’ve had at a resort—it remained fast & reliable even on the beach. The staff were warm, courteous & helpful, & the food was enjoyable once it finally arrived.
Unfortunately, the property feels dated & in need of major investment. At times it felt like stepping back into the 1980s, complete with a phone book in the room & very limited TV channels. We noticed visible mold on exterior walls, cracks in parts of the building, missing weather stripping around the front door, & a pool with the water level noticeably low. Most concerning, the sliding glass door to our balcony came off its track in our hands when we tried to open it, creating a clear safety concern.
Service was another disappointment. Despite very few guests, meals & even the check took an unusually long time to arrive. Guest information was also lacking. The website provided little guidance, there were no brochures or welcome materials in the room, & we repeatedly had to ask the front desk basic questions about how things worked. Room amenities were sparse, with only 2 bath towels provided.
Coco Reef has tremendous potential because of its spectacular setting, excellent beach access & genuinely kind staff. However, the aging facilities, maintenance issues & operational inefficiencies fall below the standard expected of an international resort. With renovations & better attention to detail, it could be outstanding

This property is beautiful at the beach front and the lobby is very inviting. The buffet looks beautiful and the views are amazing however…there is the staff and the rooms.

The room was moldy and old. The sliding door was broken and very difficult to lock. The staff overall is horrible. From front desk people speaking in whisper tones so you cannot hear them, others not being helpful or friendly. The buffet staff were particularly rude…there were barely 20 reservations at the entire property However, the hosts insisted that we (2 of us) sit at a small 2 seat table while the rest of the room was never at 25% capacity….needless to say I ALWAYS sat at a larger 4 top table for my own comfort and relaxation. Stop subjecting your patrons to this unnecessary torture and ridiculous demands. BTW- I was the only person who tipped the incompetent waiters (American standards).

Upon checking, we received no information about the enmities of the property, or map, or even a card for our room keys, w the WiFi information on it. It seemed every question we asked the staff, they did not know, & to ask someone else. A late checkout cost was exorbitant

The bartender had to look up how to make a Tanqueray and Tonic! Then needed help finalizing the bill for me.

The next morning when I asked about the excursions on the chalkboard next to the reception desk, no one knew anything about them….

The staff was nice enough, but again, I think poorly trained, & not very helpful

The property is magnificent. Has its own beautiful beach. But clearly they are short on staff and on supplies - during breakfast I had to get off my chair to find someone to get me some coffee- since it was not self served. Our first night we ask for another blanket and they had none but send me a flat sheet
Our beach towels were very damp because they did not have dry ones available. The worst part is that the running water in the room was medium brown in color. I could not use the water to make some tea or brush my teeth. I went to the front desk and ask for water- they gave me 2 little bottles and said I would have to pay if I want more. Maintenance came by and said it was not an easy fix. Same time a couple in a room about four rooms down from mines heard the conversation and stated that they were about to go to front desk to report the same issue.
This hotel has always been the one that I stayed at on every visit to Tobago. Service has always been excellent. Clearly something has changed and I am hoping whatever shortcomings they’re experiencing is going to be short lived.
I’m not writing off this hotel- I will be going back again.

Disappointed overall. Did not get access to our room until after 4, although check in was at 3. No decaf coffee or tea available. I requested towels twice on saturday, once in early morning, once around 3pm and both times they were being laundered. A resort should have enough towels for its guests. No cream for your coffee at breakfast.
On a positive note the view was beautiful, the hotel was beautiful but tired. Needs a refresher.
Overall not worth what we paid.

We had to keep calling for supplies for the bathroom. Hotel is in badly need of TLC. Structure of hotel needs an upgrade. All and all. It’s a nice hotel. It needs work and customer service training.

Although the facility is a bit dated, they maintained it very well. Clean rooms, friendly staff and very attentive. The gardens are beautifully manicured; the view of the ocean is priceless - location is perfect for easy access to the island activities. Daily breakfast was quite a variety. The most outstanding part of service was the prompt attention of staff to secure our room with additional inner latches so that our autistic son could not open the doors easily on his own. I hope to return soon.

The room was clean but extremely dated.
The tub was too low and the attempt to refinish it left it very rough. The water wasn't hot, the shower curtain was extremely thin, the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling, and the shower rod was rusted. The wall under the air conditioner was rusted, the furniture was yellowing and appears to have been repainted. The refrigerator had an odor. The curtain to the patio had an odor, the privacy curtain to the patio had rust stains on it. The staff was inconsistent in replacing the bathmat.

The couple of times I tried the breakfast, they were slow to replenish. The bacon was swimming in grease. I usually had one glass of juice and cheese. The staff had to be reminded of a request.

Just about everything was terrible.
It’s started with the welcome at the airport: driver was extremely rude and very unwelcoming not even a sign from the resort.
The service at the Resort:
1) No house service after 7.
2) Extremely basic for a Luxury King Size Room
3) Towels from the sixties(beach towels with holes) not even wash rags available.
4) The compound was very dark and dismal at nights.
4) Had to pay for Airport Transport.

Will not recommend this resort to anyone.

This is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. It is outdated and odd place to stay. I stayed one night and. The staff are unwelcoming . The parking is full of loose tar. i had to leave . The bedding are old and mattresses is hard. Motels look better then this place. Tap water was running yellow and toilet water was brown. Service is very poor.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. The power went out several times during the course of our stay. We were told they had no control of power outages, but other buildings and restaurants had power and were fully functional. The pool was not working and we did not receive any prior notice so we could make an informed decision. Instead we were told the pool had a leak and it was under repair. There wasn’t even a mention of a discount for the inconvenience. It was false advertising. The hotel is completely run down and dated. There was a bad odor in the corridor and grounds are unkept. Dining accommodations were poor at best. We were served drinks that were supposed to be carbonated, but were flat, then replaced with bottled drinks that were not cold. Dinner services started at 7pm, with no alternatives other than eating outside the hotel. My suggestion to others spending almost $400USD per night, do not go to this hotel or even this island. You’re better off paying $100 with no expectations. On the last day, after speaking to the manager who was so terribly sorry to hear of all the issues has yet to contact me after assuring me he would reach out. I gave them a week before posting a review. Shame on management and staff for poor the service, facilities and lack of respect and decency to be up front about the true state of your so called luxury resort.

THIS PROPERTY HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL...
The property was very nice and well maintained the rooms were clean and decent but could use some upgrading. Furniture, drapes, bedding and new mattresses. The cosmetics of the room is perfect. Balcony furniture should be uniform on all balconies and updated. It was very old with different furniture on different balconies. The free breakfast that was included was nice however what if you wanted coffee after 11 am?? No shops available. It would be nice to have a coffee shop onsite where there were things like muffins croissants etc... Having an ATM onsite should be a must as many visitors are reluctant to go walking to find an ATM it also gives guests comfort in knowing they can have access to money on property. Dinner at the restaurant was very bland could have been a bit more flavorful. The property is very beautiful, scenic, peaceful and well maintained and staff was very helpful .

This was not my first time staying at this resort. On this occasion the resort was very quiet which I appreciated, as I really just wanted a relaxing time. In the past I must say that the customer service I got was way better than this time. The wait staff were great but the front desk staff made us feel like we had to beg for service. For example, on more than one occasion, they would see us approaching the desk and they would exit into the office behind the desk. I was a bit turned off by this.

Everything was perfect. We stayed for 3 days but it felt like a month. The food was great, I wish I could get the recipe for the fried bakes. The water was perfect and so calm. Kayaking and snorkeling with the kids was a dream come true. It’s so close to restaurants and pigeon point so we had so many options and all were affordable.

There were a lot of seagulls on the rocks, if Coco Reef wanted t hire me to use an airrifle to get rid of them I would gladly work in exchange for a room and breakfast. That would be my happily ever after ❤️

I'll start with the positives and I think the two biggest winners has to be the quality and design of the exterior as well as the cove. There's no doubt that there is a very luxurious feel when walking around or lounging and I really felt like I was on a high quality vacation.
This for me is where the luxury ends however. Coco Reef seems to market themself as a luxury experience and definitely uses the price tag of one. I don't think however that there was a luxurious level to the service, room amenities, or even the services such as Wifi. I will say my room had a lovely view even though I booked the garden suite however I had little to no Wifi connectivity - my laptop even refused to connect due to the weak signal. I also had a very slow check in process. The first employee didn't seem to hold much knowledge of what would be available to me and then the second asked me to sit and wait 10 minutes to be escorted to my room. A wait that lasted about 25 minutes.
I think the absolute worst part of the service to me was that there was a clear favour to the European guests who stayed there. At one point, I was the only person of colour lounging on the beach when one of the waiters passed around and took drink orders for all other Caucasian guests and ignored me. He passed by again to drop off their drinks and still ignored me. At this point I walked over to the bar myself to order the drink and on his third walk around then asked me if I was done with the glass.

This resort had its “glory days” - the staff is extremely polite and attentive but the rooms while recently cosmetically refurbished need a total overhaul.
The old wicker furniture/ and Grandmas bedsheets from the 1980s make it hard to feel comfortable.
The beach is beautiful and the beach amenities leave nothing to be desired.
Television reception was poor- haven’t watched TV with static reception since I was a kid-making almost everything unwatchable.
Breakfast selection was good- but not great.
It’s better than Magdalena that’s for sure in terms of upkeep!

I like the licatin and private beach. Service needxto be improved with most staff not giving a smile, not being friendly in their service or communication. But there were a few that was very enjoyable to talk to.
For the longest while the car park area is so rough and dark during the night, i fell onto one of the holes and nearly twisted my ankle. The hotel needs to look at that as if left as is it van be costly for them later. The room floor is really drab and old looking and its time to do some renovations. The private sea needs to have a better filtering system as moss is all over the bottom floor. Not enough displacement of sea water is taking place.

During our stay, we noticed is an old but fine hotel. The private beach is definely the plus. Our experience when asking questions wasnt great; the personnel looked confused, not well trained. They didn't know about expedia discount.

The breakfast buffet is from 7 to 10, we went around 9 and there was no fruit, no side dishes, luckily the omelette chef was still there. We asked for 2 pina coladas and one rum and coke (smal plastic cup) and was charged 27.31USD. Beer outside the hotel is 2USD and drinks 4/5USD not 9.

The beach towels were clean. However, filthy beyond belief, stains on the sheets, bugs in the bed when you turn down the sheets, and mold everywhere: on the vanity countertop, bathroom floors, shower tiles, shower curtain, and even backed-up water in the tub. Just disgusting. There was also a heavy smell of mold mixed with an unidentifiable stench.
The staff showed clear favoritism toward “certain” guests, and only a few members were remotely accommodating.
This place is the epitome of false advertising. There’s absolutely nothing luxurious about it. The lobby furniture was old, chipped, and in desperate need of paint and cleaning. The entire property seemed rundown and in dire need of repair. The gift shops had an overwhelming musty odor. I truly feel for the staff who have to work there all day.
If you enjoy loud street noises at night, this is the place for you.
I didn’t feel safe here at all. The door lacked a latch, and there were no security staff visible. While the hotel grounds were relatively clean, the walkways and paths leading to the hotel were filthy and in need of power washing. The building itself had a cracked facade, and the fixtures throughout were outdated and poorly maintained.
Lastly, the entire hotel needs a complete overhaul. It’s unsanitary, outdated, and in desperate need of a facelift. This was the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. I’m genuinely shocked that Expedia gave this place such a high rating—did they even visit or stay? Extremely disappointed!

Our toilet did not work and the room was dirty the first night we stayed there. It was a very difficult night without a functional toilet. They moved us to another room after much discussion. We asked for some sort of compensation to cover the major inconvenience of not having a functioning toilet but the hotel refused to provide any compensation or adjustments for that night.

Can an hotel be awarded minus stars? If it could, i would make the Coco Reef Resort a minus -4 star hotel.

Coco Reef Resort is an, at best +2 star hotel masquerading as a 4+star hotel. The only thing going for this place is the view/location.

The whole hotel is tired and listless.

The staff, many, surly and unengaging. Only one or two of the staff could be called friendly.

Paintings of ladies with large eyes all over the premises, particularly the one in our room, very off putting and weird. What's wrong with a local nature scene?

The room, certainly tired and basic. Luckily we got a bar of soap and a couple towels.

Shower, an embarassment. Most of the water leaked into drain, weak flow and tepid water.

Noisy fridge, no mini bar. No milk to accompany the kettle and teabags.

The grounds maintenance is done in dribs and drabs, so the 'relaxing' holiday is puncuated with the sound of strimmers and leaf blowers at any given time of day and every day.

My dish, at the only dinner we had, was not fit to be served to the paying public. A 5 year old made my seafood penne but forgot the seafood apart from a dried up scallop and two mussles that probably died of old age and had the rubbery texture to prove it. I was both hungry and pissed off at the same time.

Late checkout expensive at $US for 6 hours. Bit rich as hotel was almost empty.🙄

Everything in this hotel is expensive when quality is compared to price. Nothing is value for money.

Can't complain at all. Food was exceptional and tasty. There was free snorkeling amd kayaking among other activities at the resort. Staff was amazing. Hotel was clean and conveniently located near all fast food places and walking distance to the airport.

Would definitely recommend!

Could be So so much better

Ok for 1 night but a tired property with staff that seemed disinterested. Very strange. Lovely grounds and location though. Needs an overhaul and will be beautiful. AC was warm. Breakfast was very good. It each and every member of staff were disengaged from human interaction. Very odd- May need more customer support training?

Firstly they didn’t have our Expedia booking which made the check in process very difficult. Rooms were outdated and bedding didn’t look fresh. Bathroom was awful, taps were corroded and floors were dirty. There was no wifi in the rooms ! Only in the lobby. The tv in the room was also broken ! And so was the hairdryer on the last day.
This was very irritating as kids were stuck in room without entertainment.
Generally, we got the sense that there has been little investment into the hotel which is very evident as soon as you arrive.

This was a nice resort and a great vacation. The area is very walkable and safe, and the hotel is right on the beach. Out of all the options in Tobago, of which we drove around and saw most, this is the hotel we would stay at again. Thank you to the kind staff.
If I could suggest anything, it would be to improve the on resort lunch and dinner offerings. Breakfast was great. Lunch/Dinner food is good, but they know it is overpriced

Didn't like the enclosed sea bed, mushy and morsy. Didn't like maintainance condition of the lawn tennis facility and bushy access path. Didn't like wanting to use beach volley ball facility but no balls available on whole premises to be used.

hi, first of all the daily rates were very high compare to other hotels, and I was expecting a much more renovated hotel I visited like 8 yrs ago.My biggest issue was, we had gotten 3 rooms and when we were checking out, they told us a room key was missing. We were never told that any lost keys will have an additional cost. This is the 1st time we ever have to pay for a room key which i find is ridiculous. The hotel is very old, ac unit cannot was small and could not have the room cold, the breakfast was limited especially with fruits. Would not recommend anyone to go there. Pretty hotel from outside but old and run down from inside. Wifi is only in lobby, and in lobby no ac.

Arrived at the hotel and though I paid for the booking with Expedia on August 8th the Hotel had no record of our stay from 26th August and the only option was to pay again or find alternative accommodation. This was after waiting over an hour for a room while the hotel chased what happened with Expedia. Still out of pocket.

The grounds were pristine and beautifully kept by the gardeners -worthy of an award. The staff were very helpful, very polite and welcoming.

The rooms were rundown and grimy, and the food in the restaurant was poor. Trumites or woodworms were eating the tables. The one I ate at on the only night I ate in the restaurant was crumbling away under the tablecloth, and the grime on the restaurant chairs was disgusting. I don't want to blame the staff for any of the poor conditions because I suspect there has been no real investment in the place in years. All-in-all, it was grossly overpriced, a disssapointing experience and I would never stay there again.

Beautiful property but lacking in general maintenance. Others had the same comments.
Balcony door couldn’t lock and I didn’t have any hot water.
Staff were generally very good.
I only went into the sea once during a five night stay as it was full of seaweed (it looked like a sewer had overflowed!). I presume this is because they have blocked off an area which stops the water flowing.
