We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Rooms and all the grounds were kept very clean and tidy. The staff was quickly responsive and friendly with all our needs. The continental breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The pool area was pristine for relaxing and swimming. although the restaurant only served breakfast (restaurant was not open lunch & dinner) and the swim up bar inside the pool was not open, staff was readily available at the bar, which is right next to the pool. Staff assisted us with their corporate WiFi use, so we had WiFi service on all the grounds (rooms included). The tennis courts are not kept up too well - there are some cracks that have been patched & some that haven’t. (We still managed to play some light tennis on them without much issue.)
The place is “outdated,” as stated in reviews I read prior. However this did not mean dirty, non-functioning or uncomfortable.
There are several restaurants in walking distance & the direct access to a very quiet beach was amazing. We would definitely return.

The room was really far. We had the furthest room from the lobby. There was no staff at night to receive you. It was like a ghost town from a scary movie when we arrived. Then the security came and gave us the key and let us fill out a form. When we went for pool towels there was none available. The food was tasty. They need to do some more cleaning and an upgrade. The one time we went to the bar to get ice there was no one there. I went in the bar and helped myself to some ice. There should be an ice machine available for 24 hour service because when the bar closes at 10pm there is no ice available.
I do not think I would be staying here again.

Enjoyed the stay. Breakfast was great (local selections) and the staff were friendly and professional. There is a warm water wading pool and swim up bar, which my husband and I enjoyed. It is a bit far from the night life in Crown Point, but nowhere is truly far in Tobago. The room was clean and we had a partial view of the ocean, even though we did not book an ocean view room. We loved that little surprise.You could hear the waves from the room and that lulled us to sleep. The only cons- our room was very far from the front of the hotel and the ramps to get to the room were steep. The ramps were not covered and unfortunately it rained. So the options were to get soaked in the rain or stay put in the room/lobby. When we were checking out, someone charged a drink to our room. We had to wait for quite a bit for it to be sorted but the receptionist eventually told us we could leave, because we were becoming increasingly late to catch our ferry to Trinidad. Nonetheless, would recommend the stay. It was good value.

This was absolutely the worst experience. The room we were placed in, had no Wi-Fi. A member of staff said we’ll give a refund, then placed all blame on Expedia when payments were made through the hotel. The bathroom wasn’t the most pristine, couldn’t access shows/movies on the to since no Wi-Fi even though we moved rooms. We wanted a king bed, we had a double bed. No complimentary drinks or meals to facilitate that we tried to sort the issue out for hours. So sunset was water. Staff members(front desk receptionist and manager) were rude. Receptionist asked what race I was( she didn’t see me as yet since they changed shift), wanting to know if I’m African or Indian and made the statement as that Indians have to have everything right or they will complain or African will accept the issues but will tell you what’s wrong. We went to the bar to get something and no one was there, spoke to manager said that they’ll send someone, no one showed up after waiting 30 minutes. Spoke to the manager to say it’s been a while and was basically said oh well and left it to be. The utter rudeness, uncleanliness and proper working amenities made this stay horrible. The only thing I was thankful for, was that it was for two nights

The room hosted wood furniture why could possibly just be a thing all across the island. Was it the best room i ever stay in no and far from it. I will start with the pros, the view was amazing, the room was spacious, the pool was decent, that’s the extent of the pros. The hotel overall could use some TLC, there is a lot of noticeable and sloppy patch work. The bathroom roof was converted in mold in multiple stops. The speakers by the pool didn’t work, my key to my room only worked once. At this present moment i would not recommend staying in this hotel. It needs TLC and renovations

Easily the worst place I have stayed at in my entire life.
From day one we had no hot water. We made this aware to the \"staff\" and they never did anything about it, so we spent 3 days showering with cold water. The first night we were also left locked out of our rooms because our room keys did not scan. There was no one in sight to call for help. After 2 hours we were able to find a number on the third page of google which led us to an employee that sent someone to make us cards. On the third day our air broke. I asked the front desk lady to please PLEASE have the air working when we returned from our wedding. When we got back close to midnight no one had went to check. We had to call again and ask someone to go fix it. Another 2 hours wasted. Not to mention how scary it was having a group that checked in next to us that was slamming doors and drinking beers in the hall way while making threats over the phone. There was no security in sight to make us feel remotely safe. AVOID AT ALL COST ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A FAMILY. This place should be removed from expedia and all other platforms.

Our stay at Le Grand Courlan Spa Resort was disappointing and fell far short of expectations. While the property has an excellent location and spacious grounds, it is in urgent need of renovation and better upkeep.

The resort itself looks old and neglected. Buildings and common areas show years of wear, with faded paint and outdated furnishings. What could have been charming instead feels tired and run-down. Even the fish ponds, which should have been a highlight, were murky with green growth, giving the property an unkempt and poorly maintained look.

The room was no better. The air conditioning barely worked, making it uncomfortable to relax or sleep. In a tropical climate, reliable cooling is essential, not optional. The towels provided were thin, rough, and long past their prime—something that immediately took away from comfort.

Service was polite but lacked warmth or attentiveness. Staff did their jobs, but there was no sense of hospitality or effort to make guests feel truly welcome.

Overall, Le Grand Courlan has potential but feels like it is living off past glory. Without serious renovations and attention to detail, it cannot compete with other resorts in the area. Basics like clean amenities, properly working AC, and fresh linens should be standard, yet they are missing here. Until the property invests in improvements, it’s hard to recommend it to travelers looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Breakfast was next door at the Grafton which is a family hotel. So for us we arranged childcare to have a couple trip only to eat breakfast amongst families which ramped up the mom guilt!

We enjoyed this property for a number of reasons: 1) The view from our room was spectacular 2) The layout of the property was outstanding and held much potential 3) The lounge area was quiet and relaxing. 4) The daily breakfast at the sister property, Grafton Beach Hotel, was delicious with a variety of local foods.

In regards to the staff, I was quite impressed with the response of staff and management to our needs. We had a bit of a rough start but within one day, all was resolved far above our expectations. Thanks to the property manager, Olivier. Outstanding service. Our housekeepers, Sharon and Patsy as well as Sharlene, the housekeeping manager, were exceptional. I love how Patsy operated in the realm of excellence without a second thought. Wow! I will definitely revisit the property.

I cannot forget Chrisy, front office supervisor, and her incredible listening skills. I felt heard and appreciated.

This team at Le Grand Courlan is a winning team. Thanks again to the management, Olivier, Phillip, Chrisy and Sharlene for modeling a high level of customer service and strong leadership skills.

My husband and I chose Le Grand Courlan for a birthday staycation in Tobago, hoping for a relaxing, adults-only getaway. What should have been a wonderful retreat quickly became a profoundly disappointing and frustrating experience that ultimately ruined my birthday.

From the moment we arrived, we encountered issues. Despite having an Expedia receipt for a down payment, the hotel staff insisted we pay the full balance upfront, claiming the payment never went through. We paid to avoid further conflict. Our optimism was short-lived. Upon entering our room, we discovered there was no in-room Wi-Fi, and our mobile data didn't work. When we inquired at the front desk, a staff member rudely told us, \"so no one tell you at check in the inernet dont work in the bedroom and only in common areas,\" demonstrating a shocking lack of customer service and professionalism.We tried to overlook these initial red flags, including the mold and algae in the ponds near the pool. However, the poor communication continued. On my birthday, August 18th, we went for breakfast only to find the dining area empty. We had to go to the front desk to be informed that breakfast was being served at the hotel next door, another frustrating example of the resort's failure to communicate with guests.The most severe issue occurred at the end of our stay. On the morning of our departure, my company cell phone went missing

The property has an old-world charm but is generally well-kept. I noticed lots of moss around the waterfalls ponds and spouts, but the pool and spa were clean and inviting. The wait staff and housekeepers were friendly and courteous, though the front desk staff could be more welcoming. Breakfast was delicious, although it did start late on a few mornings during my stay. I felt safe throughout my visit, and the surrounding scenery was absolutely beautiful. With a bit more attention to detail, this property has great potential to truly shine.

The most important part of the trip of the ocean and we really enjoyed it. As far as the hotel is concerned, major upkeep and renovation is required. There’s no real Wi-Fi anywhere in the hotel except the main lobby, which had no air condition and was like a boiler. There may be a few selective rooms that may have Wi-Fi, but it’s very difficult to relocate all your stuff just to get that room. Two days consecutive, almost half the items on the breakfast was missing. I’m not sure whether it was just our room, but on the last day there was brown water coming out of the tabs. We were told it was because of the rainfall, but it’s strange because it was just coming from our room. That put a very big damper on the entire experience. I’m sure there’s better places available.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The pool over looking the sea was a gorgeous view, the complimentary rum punch was a nice touch and it tasted great, and the breakfast was very delicious! The property was generally quiet which made for a peaceful and serene stay. A few things needing attn: the mini fridge in the room was unplugged and didn't close properly so our food went bad, the wifi only worked well in the lobby and near the bar area not at all in the room, the gazebo was not well maintained it looked like it had not been tended too in ages the tables were dusty, the floors unswept and the cushions on the couches were dirty and tattered and the hot tub did not work. Despite these things requiring attn I would stay here again.

My recent stay at the hotel was disappointing. The room I was given looked nothing like what was advertised on the website and was poorly maintained, with clear signs of wear and neglect.

The food at Wave Restaurant was quite poor and left much to be desired. On a positive note, breakfast was decent both days—I'd give it an 8/10.

A special mention goes to the female staff member working at the bar (unfortunately, I didn’t get her name). Her service was consistently excellent—friendly, attentive, and professional. She deserves a 10/10.

This property has great potential, but it falls short in key areas. With better upkeep and food quality, it could offer a much better experience.

The resort should really have that staff avail everyday.. breakfast options are fantastic. Welcome drink is AMAZING. Book ocean view for the best balcony view. The hotel was recently sold to a new owner, who is putting money into badly needed renovations. But it’s a slow process, and the hotel still has a slightly rundown look to it. But that’s also just because it’s in the tropics. The hotel is mostly empty, which is a shame because it has the capacity for a lot more. The whole Spa area is basically closed, and the dining area for breakfast is basically a small alcove. But the pool is nice and it’s across the street from the beach. The price is also very competitive for anything in Tobago so there are no real complaints. There are two excellent restaurants next-door to the hotel, and it is centrally located for exploring the island. I will continue to stay there in the future and recommend it to others.

The property and rooms are a bit dated. That being said, it is always clean and staff are friendly. I was in a garden room and still had a view of the ocean. So really, there are no 'bad' rooms on the property in my opinion.
Pond area next to pool needs some TLC to return it to its former glory.
Speaking of pool, it is large, clean and you can use it at ANY time. That was a bonus! Would have been nice to have the pool bar operational, if only for a few hours.
Had breakfast included, which was ok. Dont expect to be blown away by it as its the usual standard fare of toast and eggs, etc. It was filling and set you up for the day's adventures, thats about it.
All in all, there is much to like about the property and it has lots of untapped potential. Will definitely stay again.

We enjoyed the location and the property. The spa area is under renovation but the gym is ok and the big pool in the courtyard is great. The plastic wristbands we were asked to wear felt entirely unnecessary if not annoying.

03rd April 2025, I would not recommend this property. Bedding was uncomfortable, itch all night. Pool was dirty. Fountain was empty and dirty causing the surroundings to have a bad smell, breakfast was lacking taste and the container with the muffins had ants. Rooms was dated as well

I am so disgusted by this hotel, I would never recommend this place to anyone. I am a travel agent and I do site inspections and report back to investors. This is a terrible look on your part, what is also bad for business is the non refundable trashy policy that been put in place. Bed bugs is a disgusting pest, which should never be in hotel, and it should be handled urgently....if I could have called 911 I would. As a business this is not how things are handled. This place deserved a 0 out of 5 star. Refund is due immediately. This is not something I take lightly and you all should NOT as well

The most comfortable bed and pillow for a restful night sleep, clean with all amenities , a home away from home. The included breakfast was tasty, with a lot of local dishes including vegetarian options for my sister and I. A huge thank you to two kind hearted members of staff Ms Nathifa and Shanaya who made our stay unforgettable .Highly recommend.

Clean property , no internet in the rooms ... big issue in todays world.
Breakfast was definitely below standards , they need to upgrade their Breakfast menu.
Room needed some minor maintenance in some areas , difficult sliding door , fan in washroom not working and slow drainage of water in the shower.
