Very relaxing stay but property can do with an upgrade, elevators on the North Wing not operational, damage to ceiling, no one came to assist with bags for check out after three calls to front desk requesting same. Due to no elevators working on the said Wing, and ceiling damage that caused the normal path to be interrupted ( lots of up and down stairs to reach back Front Desk carrying your own luggage). Main pool was also closed majority of the day on the 21st Sep ( a sunday) which would normally be a busy pool day.

I enjoyed the room, the beautiful and peaceful views. I enjoyed the buffet style breakfast. Will stay again but I am hopeful that this Hotel does the necessary upgrades and improves with respect to service.

This was my first trip to Trinidad & Tobago, and while it started a bit rough with a very unpleasant immigration officer (not part of the hotel!), the rest of my experience made up for it.
The hotel itself was nice, clean, and very peaceful. The staff really made the difference — special thanks to Rhonda and Justine at the front desk who were incredibly helpful and friendly throughout our stay. There was also a lovely lady in charge of the activities who was super sweet, though I didn’t catch her name because I wasn’t feeling well at the time.
I had read previous reviews mentioning a smell near the beach, and yes, it’s there. It seems to be from sea moss in the area. It’s not a deal-breaker for the hotel, but it does affect the beach experience. Luckily, the hotel offers a free shuttle to nearby beaches, which made up for it.
Some parts of the hotel were under construction, including the kids’ park, which was disappointing because we were expecting more kid-friendly activities. Breakfast was okay — the banana bread stood out as my favorite.

No water bottles in the room (not sure if we were supposed to ask)
Hotel was fully booked, so towels were limited at times

It's a nice and safe place for your family.
The balcony and patio gives you a wonderful scenic view, however, there was an influx of sargassum seaweed that gave a very pungent odor.

This property is located on the water and has beautiful views, along with a golf course. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The Wi-Fi is great. The property is a little dated and could use some serious updates but the rooms are very clean and well-kept. What would really make this property outstanding is if they would invest in removing the seaweed from the beach so guests can enjoy it and clean the windows in the main lobby especially so the ocean view is clearly visible. Other than that, I’ll definitely be visiting again.

The property needs better maintenance. It property is run down. The smell on arrival was disgusting due to the sargassum. The scent of the room made us sick. We asked tor lysol spray or air freshener spray...staff brought us a counter top airfreshner...that did nothing to mask the awful rotting smell of the sargassum. There were only 2 towels in the room we had to request an additional towel despite making a booking for 3 guests...thankfully we were there for 1 night since the stench was unbearable. We enquired about some recourse for the uncomfortable environment to which the response was that the seaweed was an act of nature ...Later that week ,popular beaches close to the airport got affected by the sargassum and the beaches were closed and cleaned in hours...Magdalena could have done the same but they do not care about the environment nor their guests. I will not be returning in the future.

I can say this staying at this hotel is worth maybe $500 per night and not the $1800+ I paid. The toilet ran all night, the tub leaked, the air condition unit leaked, the floors were wet. The breakfast was limited and below par. The beaches are full of garbage.

My watch was stolen from my suitcase by resort staff. The resort has no due diligence process for recovering missing/stolen items. Any attempt to follow up is met with being left on hold, being transferred between departments, being hung up on, until you’re ultimately left with no choice but to give up due to international call fees preventing you from continuing to follow up.

The only thing reason for not saying it was excellent is for something beyond the control of the management - the natural sargassum bloom around the east coast tends to give a pungent scent. The resort is far from food and other things and you need a taxi or car. The resort should a variety of different foods since the resort has multiple restaurants. All the restaurants offer the same menu except Kalina. The property can use some updating. Cleanliness of house keeping can be better. The towels are very dingy. The hotel is very spacious. The main pool is gorgeous. I booked the 2 bedroom suite with jacuzzi for my 29th wedding anniversary. My cousin also accompanied my wife and I who utilized the second bedroom. The jacuzzi was inoperable which was very disappointing ! The living room floor kept encountering condensation on the floor. Our room 242 had an unbelievable view of the ocean! The buffet breakfast was ok. The let down for us was few choices of Trinidadian food. Saltfish, baigan choka and roti. The drinks were very good at all of the bars. Looking foward to another stay very soon!

The minute I got into my room it smells really musky a kind of damped , don’t let me talked about the bathroom towels . First of all my bathroom mats at my home is stark white , so having to used these towels for my body was very disappointing an disgusting, those towels needs to be THROWN OUT like yesterday, The restaurant staffs were so sweet and amazingly pleasant to us . For the price I’ve paid to stay at the Magdalena Resort an to find there isn’t a microwave is beyond useless in these times .

The food was excellent for the most part although limited for vegetarian diet. The first 2 days air conditioner was not working. The management did state that they will work with Expedia and refund one night stay. The maid service was excellent although during the 5 day stay they never changed the sheets. WiFi was very spotty. The pool was beautiful and warm. Loved the pool area. The bar staff by the pool was excellent. The service in the restaurant was horrible. The staff are not being trained properly. It ruined the dining experience eventhou the food was so good. I had to wait 90 min for a drink order during lunch. After one hour I cancelled it. 20 min later when we were ready to go they brought the drink over. I told the server that I cancelled that drink 20 minutes ago so she said that she would take it off the bill and that I could keep it. Moments later a supervisor Pamela comes to the table and demands that we ordered it so we have to pay for it. I told her I had already cancelled it over 20 minutes ago. She grabbed the drink in front of me and off she went in a huff. Totally unprofessional! The rest of the supervisory staff was friendly and professional.

The resort is expensive and outdated. We booked an ocean view room and were placed in a room at the end of the world that was musty and moldy. When we initially asked to switch rooms, they declined and said they paint over the mold first! We were only moved when I insisted as the paint fumes made us dizzy. Staff was friendly enough, but the concierge was pretty useless when it came to recommending certain dining options or experiences outside of the resort. The golf course was decent, but nothing special. Won't be staying here again and would not recommend.

What a disgrace! On the third day of my stay I left the property, forgoing the money I had paid in advance, just because I could not bear to stay one more second.
The room was run down and dirty, and smelt of mould.. the floors were constantly wet due to an ongoing issue where condensation occurs. Was I expected to allow my 1 year old baby to stay in these conditions? When I called the front desk the CSR had the audacity to imply that the condensation occurred because of something I did.
PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BOYCOTT THIS HOTEL. The rooms are a hazard to your health and it is nothing close to the luxury vacation you are paying for. Shame on you Magdalena Grand!

Excellent stay at the Magdalena! The service was terrific with really attentive staff. We received welcome drinks, an impressive complimentary breakfast, golf cart ride to our rooms, Easter bags for the kids upon arrival, etc. The resort itself is a tiny bit outdated but nothing that takes away from its natural beauty or cleanliness. It is well maintained. The pool and background scenery of the blue ocean is amazing and photographs really well. Worth the price, and on par with other resorts we’ve stayed at around the world.

The property was not well maintained inside the rooms. They put us in a room that was far out from everyone else even though their weren't many people. Inside the rooms, the floors were dirty and the shower was too small. Also, the electricity went out for a few hours. I am not sure how a resort can loose power for so many people. The front desk staff seemed like they had a bad attitude when you ask them about it. When we called them if they had restored power, they said yes and hung up.

One positive note, our tire got flat and the maintenance guys were helpful to help my husband change the flat.

We met an awesome lady (who name I forgot) but I do remember her badge noted she was a supervisor (Lydisha maybe?). But she was amazing. She made sure we got the local food in the buffet and provided excellent service. And the manager Lisa was very friendly and caring. Overall the staff that we interacted with was 'two thumbs up'!

The room that I stayed in was not properly cleaned the bathroom shower door when taking a shower allowed water to fall on the floor which is hazardous. When the cleaning lady came by I asked her to mop the floor, the mop was dirty that you can tell that the floor was not cleaned.Transportation on a golf cart to the resturant back and fort was not what I had in mind. I am dissappointed becaused I was not expecting this type of condition. Further more I was over charged for the room according to one of the representatives at the front desk. I should not have to pay for the change of dates from the 20th Jan to the 22nd of January this is what I was told and when I was told I should not have to pay for change. Expedia charged me extra to make the change. The room as quoted at the front desk should only be 1069.00 TT dollars I was robbed by Expedia and I am really dissapointed for the the lack of consideration for your customers. I believe that I should be reimbursed for the additional charges you have made me paid.I hope that you will consider this and respond appropriately if not I will not used Expedia and I will expose Expedia on social media. Lets hope it does not get to that point and your will respond accordingly.

The accommodations was safe and family friendly , right on the beach, ocean view. Very relaxing atmospher , with the sounds of the waves and nature all around you. Many restaurant options at this resort , friendly bars. The food was excellently prepared . Booking day trips and tours is very handy in the front lobby. Marvin was very helpful with us, suggesting the best hot spots to go exploring. This resort has many activities, or just lay by the beautiful swimming pools and do nothing if you wish. The staff is professional and friendly, like to help with your every need.

My first room i checked into was not acceptable but Lisa the manager changed my room which was more to what i expected in a resort hotel room...anything other than the room was a true disappointment. Housekeeping left dirty cups, towels and linen in room. Nobody picks up for housekeeping or room service and if you do get through, it takes up to 3hrs and multiple phone calls to get your requests (better off going to front desk/ restaurant and get it yourself...but what you will see is plenty of staff standing around talking and staring at you.

I spent a couple of weeks in December 2022 at this large property. There was plenty of wildlife around the resort including caymen, pelicans, egrets and mosquitos and you could take a walk in the mangroves. The room was clean enough but there was no hot water for most of the second week. The onsite tour desk had lots of options if you had a group of 4 but as the hotel had few guests at the time they didn't operate. There are several dining options and although the food was good only 1 or 2 were open at any given time and most had identical menu. The pool was pleasant and regularly cleaned. The beach was within easy reach although big waves made it unusable for swimming or snorkelling. The staff were polite and friendly but unable to deal with issues like the hot water.

Horrible, this is not a good hotel.

The experience at this hotel was just terrible. From the very first moment we stepped in. Out flight arrived at 10:20 pm, at this hotel after 10pm you can only get water, no food or drinks. The second day, all the restaurant but one was close because of the weather, it rain in the morning only. Third day, no hot water (for the remaining of the trip 6 days in total), do not take a baby to this hotel. One of the rooms sliding glass door owed not open. The blowers were from 1800s and did not work. One of the afternoon, we could not get any drinks because the hotel did not have ice. Weekends at the breakfast you would need to be by 7:15 or half of th food would be gone. On top of that they tired to scam us on the check out with a taxi, 2 extra bills, they did not know what they where or from where only date and a number. The ninth because (we checked out at 5AM) we went to the reception to make sure everything was clear (we did paid two bills which we think now were fraudulent as well) so from 9PM to 5Am next morning more stuff came on that we did not know or they would know, extremely shady business. They only have one credit machine so they would take your card and leave for long time, if you pay cash you have to go to the reception. Beach, that's not a beach from property, it is water front at best, extremely dirty, and it would remain as such for the 6 days. the 5th day the hotel loose power, it came back within mins but the ACs would not work.

There was not hot water,the day of check out they charged me more,the clean of the room was awful,very expensive the taxi service from the hotel they charged us $100.00us for 7km around 15 min,the worst experience ever for me and my family.

Staff was excellent. Food was ok and way too overpriced resort advertised it had a pizzeria the pizzeria was never open the swim up bar was also never opened
