Good location. No staff at reception. Warmer was on in the room’s floor but have they forget the customers luggages and goodies they bought are place on the floor and it melted the chocolates and plastic material luggages. Online check in is fast and efficient but if we need to re-print the confirmation flight and seat number for claims is it able to do so? I have tried but unable to retrieve again … if after the confirmation and can email an soft copy with flight and seats confirmation will be great.

The room was bigger than I expected. It’s enough space for 2 people.
I checked in via calling the stuff and they tell us the password for the room. The other people do the same, but they just repeat after stuff telling the password so I feel it’s insecure because if there are other people in the reception area, they hear the number.

The price is reasonable. The location is golden. You can access Hongdae's shopping spree zone within 5 minutes. The bedding is surprisingly good. I liked the private bathroom, basic but does the job. The doors seem very thin but I didn't hear much noise once it's closed. Privacy is much better than what you'd get at any guest house.

The room was clean and it was cosy and warm in winter. It also has heated flooring. It’s located not far from the station and the nearest station exit has an escalator, which makes it easy for people who have luggage. Just hope that it had a floor mat to dry my feet after coming out of the shower.

The rooms are tired and need upgrading. I stayed in 101 - torn wallpaper, noisy radiator, damp bathroom, shoddy cleaning and thin walls & door didn’t make for a very pleasant stay. This was especially disappointing after reading so many positive reviews prior to booking.
The owners tried to offer another room but the place was fully booked.
On the plus side you can watch fairly recent movies in your room and it’s very conveniently located in Hongdae, a super cool area.

only downside was that the room's windows was rather close to the bed so the room can be a lil bright in the morning. overall a great experience!!

Room is a bit small and located in basement so no view at all. There is gap between the room door and door frame which caused much noise. There is a pipeline outside the room window and strange water running at midnight. I was told by Sunny laundry service involved a fee. Having a shower was also a challenge.

Reasonable price and walking distance to airport shuttle as well as Hongdae Univ station. Sue is very friendly and always with a smile. The room is very clean and cooking equipment is available too. There are plentry of food stalls nearby.

The TV screen will switch on by itself, which was rather creepy. I went in winter but the shower heater was not consistent. Otherwise, the hostel has a nice vibe with number lock on each room door which is good - no fear of losing the key. Breakfast was very nice and the staff is friendly. Thought that the room price was a little pricey for what we were offered though.

When I see this guesthouse location at google street view, I think it's so far from subway but when I arrived to Korea it's not far. All staff in this place is really friendly (Sunny,Sue,etc) I really like her. Sunny help me to bring my luggage and help me cooking food, all staff is very kind. The room is comfortable and clean. Everything is good and If I go back to Korea I will visit her again. Thank you for everything :)

1F Room 107 was quite small but had everything I needed in the one small space. The floor \"boilers\" in Korea make the stay in Winter very comfortable. Free water bottle replaced in your room every day. It was very convenient, a two minute walk from the station and 7-Eleven is 10 meters away. I only met the daytime hotel staff (Sue) and she was very accommodating to me and everyone who walked into the hotel. When it was time to leave the hotel, she helped me find taxi for my luggage and travels. Would highly recommend this place!

I enjoyed so much staying in the guesthouse and made me feel just like home. I spent 11 nights here. Staff are very nice with good English. Room is cozy and tidy with regular house keeping. Location is good which is about 6-8mins walk from Hongdae metro station. You will never get bored with Hongdae as this is a stylish community with lots of cafe and 24hr resturant as well as fashion boutiques.

Excellent Choice in Hongdae

The staff is friendly, gracious, and far surpassed expectations. The location in Hongdae is very good. It is close to the Hongik University subway stop but not in the extreme tourist area of Hongdae - An easy walk to the tourist/university area and also to the subway to visit Seoul. The advantage of being close is it is quiet at night rather than the noise of Hongdae late at night. They let us check in early and let us leave luggage at the hotel on our last day before getting it for the airport - this was very much appreciated. They even gave us a nice departure present on the last day (pastries). Breakfast was included and they had a good variety of foods to choose from. Overall, a very good value. I couldn't be happier with the choice.

The guesthouse was near the subway enough to walk and far enough from the noisy crowd. The bed was made everyday which was something I didn't expereince from some of the other guesthouses I've stayed. There was a small kitchen in the room which was nice to have but not nescessarand. The bed was a little too hard for my liking but the bathroom was very bug for a korean standard!

I Highly Recommend DW Design Residence

this was a great place to stay. lots of privacy. lots of 24 hour stores to get food and wine to entertain me at weird hours of the night during my jet lag. cable tv, AC, nice bathrooms, with clean hot water for great showers. the girls that worked the front desk were wonderful. the breakfast was great too. they let you cook your own eggs, had bagels, cream cheese, juice, coffee, and a bunch of other stuff, but i generally made fried eggs and had it with bagels and cream cheese and juice and coffee. wifi was good. neighborhood was peaceful and quiet, but also lively, just a few seconds walk to tons of cafes, restaurants, corner stores, tons of stuff. very close to the hongik university subway stop. i tried a couple other hotels in seoul during my visit, but DW Design Residence was the best because the girls that worked there were awesome, the rooms were clean, and i could cook meals in my room and had a private bathroom and privacy. IT really was a studio, like having a Studio apartment for a few days. Anyway, I could write forever, but i definitely recommend this place over the other places I tried. I highly recommend. safe location, convenient location, comfortable and clean and highly recommendable.

Had a really great stay at DW. Rooms are cleaned daily, toiletries are provided, and there's free breakfast. Service is great too, the people who work here are so nice! My friend and I stayed in DW for 4 nights in late December for leisure. Both of us are satisfied with the stay in DW. The warm greeting from Sue (host/attendant of DW) at the minute we arrive the entrance of DW made us feel warm under the subzero chilly weather.

We were being assigned to stay on ground floor and it released my worries of carrying luggage box upstairs. The room is larger than what I expected, more unexpectedly is the mini kitchen in the room, I believe it is a benefit for those who like cooking. The room is clean and tidy, staff will clean rooms everyday, clean towels and bottles of water will be given everyday.

DW’s location is very convenience, less than 10 minutes walk from subway station, lots of good food/coffee shops and shopping places are located in Hongdae area.

My friend and I are highly appreciated with the assistance offered by Sue. Sue is brilliant, nice and friendly, willing to help and providing valuable opinion on resolving our travelling queries. For sure DW will be our first choice in the next visit to Seoul. We will recommend DW to our friends too.

Pretty far from Hongdae proper

The guesthouse looked very nice and new. Mostly very clean (windowsill area a little sketchy). The shower was just a shower head sticking out from the wall of the bathroom, and the sink drained straight from the back of the sink to a drain in the ground of the bathroom. Interesting design--I don't know if it is a Korean thing or not, but I definitely prefer the \"separate shower\" thing (sprayed the toilet paper roll a couple of times...). As from the title, the one downside is that is far from the lively areas of Hongdae, which are all south of the Hongik Uni Station (this guesthouse is a few blocks north of the station). Otherwise, it is awesome!

The hotel is located in awesome location. It is only 5 mins walk from the train station. There are convenient stores to just outside of hotel. There are many restaurants and street shopping just in walking distances.The rooms are modern and clean. The staff is very helpful and resourceful. The day staff sue is the best! My sisters and I stayed at the hotel for 20 days and they made our stay feel like our own home. Sue even gave us information about different events happening. We'll definitely going back to this hotel The next time we go back to Korea.

We stayed at DW Design for two nights, then returned for seven more. Easy to find with directions I had downloaded ahead. Got there from the airport by the slow train, which stopped Hongdip University subway stop...only a five minute walk to the hotel. Room was basic but had a private bath. Harder beds as per usual in Korea. Substantial breakfast included (cereal, bead, bagel, egg, coffee, juice). Next day laundry service available. Only downside- wish there was a fridge in the room. Biggest asset to the hotel is definately the staff- Sunny and Sue. Both went out of their way to be welcoming and helpful. Made us feel at home!

Bed and breakfast-like hotel, interesting area

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in July. We chose this hotel primarily because it was one of few options within walking distance of Hongik University where our daughter is studying. We were very happy with our choice. This is not a typical business hotel. Rather, it has the casual homey feel of a bed and breakfast. The staff spoke English well and were extraordinarily kind and helpful, and the room was immaculately clean and very comfortable. One quirk that some may find odd (but that didn’t bother us in the slightest) is that the whole bathroom essentially becomes the shower stall. We loved the energy of the trendy Hongdae neighborhood (especially since the immediate area around the hotel is very quiet), and the hotel is only a few blocks from a major subway station from which the rest of Seoul (including the airports) is easily accessible. I would strongly recommend this hotel for anyone who doesn't need to be in the major business districts in Seoul, and who wants a pleasant and reasonably priced stay in the very interesting Hondae neighborhood.

I enjoyed my stay at the DW Design Residence Hotel. The only thing is that it was a bit difficult to find from Hong-ik station and required the help of a taxi driver. Other than that, I was quite happy with my stay and the hosts were very kind and helpful. The rooms were also quite clean and relatively quiet. The morning serve-it-yourself breakfast wasn't fancy but did the job offering a wide variety of international style breakfast foods including eggs, peanut butter, cereal, vegemite, coffee and juice. Overall, I would definitely stay there again.

Great location especially for younger people due to proximity of nightlife and eateries that cater to the student population. But also good for sightseeing due to proximity to the Hingis university station. Only issues were the breakfast was a bit lacking and the floor heating in our room was turned up far too high for some reason. Also room 201 not recommended if you want to sleep in due to proximity of breakfast area. All in all an enjoyable stay, however.

Comfy, clean hotel near Hongdae

I stayed in DW design for about 11 nights and it was wonderful. The room were comfortable and cosy. The area is safe (I travelled alone). The staffs (esp Sue and the part time night girl whom I din manage to get her name) were wonderfully helpful.

Sue helped to settle my Jeju airtickets and even absorbed the additional cost incurred for change of name and I only realised after when I was calculating the cost of my after check out. She even bought me a new pair of socks when she thought she had lost 1 side of of my socks during laundry.

Convenient location and friendly staff!

We booked a night stay at DW before heading out to the ski resort. The staff Sunny was kind enough to help us book our ski shuttle bus and even allowed us to keep our luggage at their place while we were at the ski resort! We were welcomed with friendly smiles from Sue, who also gave us good suggestions on where to eat and shop nearby. It was conveniently located at Hongdae where you can connect to the airport via airport railway. it is also near subway and taxi to locations e.g myeongdong are relatively affordable.

As for the rooms, it was no frills and clean with some basic toiletries available. I guess the heater system was centralised so it could be too hot or too cold sometimes. rooms were not sound proof but we were lucky to have quiet neighbours.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay with friendly staff and clean rooms. we ended our stay with a nice instant selca from Sue. thanks so much!

Perfect location, excellent service

This place is great for a solo traveller at its pricepoint. The rooms are very clean, the staff is extremely helpful, and the surrounding Hongdae area is very cool to hangout! Can't recommend more.

Nice place.

This place was really nice. The staff was friendly, and the room was nice and clean. It's a little hard to find, but other than that, I really liked this place. I would definitely stay there again.

friendly staff and good location

Stayed here for 4 nights. We were warmly welcomed by Sue when we checked in. Sue was of great help and made our stay more enjoyable! Rooms were extremely clean and spotless. Only problem was that the walls are very thin and it was at times noisy when people walk around or chat.
Free simple breakfast if u dont feel like going out for breakfast. Good location in a quiet area few minutes awy from main road of hongdae.
