I pulled up to the facility and it was a horrible sight. Run down, dark and tattered, horrible. Office was closed after I had recently confirmed our check in arrival. Then a scary man came next to my car on his bike and stared at my kids and I until we pulled off and went to find immediate alternatives for our trip.

We did not stay. It was not as advertised and did not appear safe. There was no one there to admit you to the hotel and it had permanent residents in most of the rooms. From just a few days before the stay, there were MANY calls trying to get us to give them information. Total scam!!

1 star – Scam listing, avoid at all costs

I booked a stay at what was listed as the Oyo motel in Cave City, KY through Expedia, and it turned out to be completely fraudulent.

When we arrived, the property looked nothing like the photos. The building was dark, run-down, and clearly not in operation. There were no lights on, no staff, and a sign on the door stating that the “Countryside Inn is not associated with OYO or the past owners” and that anyone who booked online would need to contact whoever they booked through for a refund.

So essentially, this location is closed, yet still being listed and sold as an active hotel.

We were left scrambling at night to find another place to stay, which was stressful and completely avoidable. To make matters worse, Expedia has been unhelpful in resolving this, and after digging into the reviews, it’s clear this has been happening to other people for months.

It is unacceptable that this listing is still live and taking people’s money.

Avoid this listing entirely. It is not a functioning hotel.

The hotel that wasn’t.

I am beyond disappointed. I never stayed in this room. I traveled 13+ hours from Houston, TX with an expectation to be able to arrive, check in and go to sleep, resting after a day on the road. Instead I found a structure that was presenting itself as a small independent motel at the address where I had booked. There was a lobby which was closed with not lights or signs of life. Frustrated I tried to contact the property through the number provided in my reservation, and as expected no one answered. So, the call when to corporate where they also tried, no luck clearly. And then asked me to try to check in. I had to explain a few times that that was a task I could not complete since no one was there and it was locked and shutdown.

So, I told them as I am writing to you, that I expect a full refund and I expect to be compensated for the cost of the room I secured a few miles down the road at a holiday inn express (~$153). I look forward to hearing from you.

SCAM ALERT

This hotel is closed for rennovation. The owner loudly told me he has told you he is closed yet you still allow people to book rooms. I see my money is non refundable and Hotes.com confirmed the reservation. This situation has taught me to never book a room ahead since next I went to Econolodge here un Cave City, KY and they refused to honor the stated price as well. My back is broken in 2 places and I truly need to lay down. I couldn't take meds because I had to drive around more looking for a room. I'd like my money back, please. I am on a fixed income. Mr Rahman at OYO says he cannot refund it so you are my last recourse. Your decision will determine whether I ever use your sight again.
Incidentally, the sign outside the hotel does not say OYO. Only if you read the letter on the door can you even contact this business, and then he shouts at the victim of fraud.

I cannot say how terrible the stay was here. It looked NOTHING and I mean NOTHING like the pictures posted. They wanted a security deposit, fine, but then could only take cash, which is weird. There is no breakfast and no ice machine, both were advertised for this stay. Its also behind a funeral home, which was super weird. There were HUGE gaps in the door frame, and I felt so unsafe that I had to take a chair and prop it under the door. They didn't clean the fridge out from previous tenants either. I found cream cheese in it. This a hotel, that offers weekly stays too, so someone was living there. Its just again NOT as advertised and I have no idea how it received the previous reviews.

grade A for what most people would consider a Roach/Kat/Ice motel. there were no fights, and it was very peaceful.
if you're rating them on cleanliness, you already know it's phenomenal: 1/3 of the people working there is top tier in cleanin', and he does a great job.
there is no continental breakfast (they can't take it down), so don't take it out on them because you're cranky. just go get some coffee. It's good, tastes like mcdonalds black, and IYKYK, go get some creamer if from the casey's down the road.

Our stay at the hotel was really quite nice for one night. I was cold throughout the night because they only had one blanket and I didn’t wanna trouble the front office for another one. But the front office Bobby and Ishi Social media were super cool and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with them and getting to know them. I will stay there again, but probably in the summer when I could use the air conditioning! Lol

I really liked how friendly the staff was!! My 3 children and I stayed for 2 weeks and they actually had conversations with us. They let us know that if we needed anything to not hesitate. It felt like they actually meant it, some places you can just feel the attitude of not actually caring for the guests. NOT HERE, It was an awesome stay we enjoyed ourselves, and had good conversations!! My kid's and I will definitely be going back for another stay 😊😁

He also wanted to know my exact arrival time. He was rude and I asked for a refund and he refused. I drove to the property only 5 miles away. It was filthy and I rented a different hotel. First of all, if you're looking in this price range, you know what you're looking for. My 4 and 5 ratings are based on said price range--this is a place to sleep and not more. Given that, the bed was comfortable, the Internet worked, and the water was warm and at high pressure. There was some confusion at check in because I'd booked two rooms through Expedia and they assumed it was a duplicate, but we worked that out in the moment. There also was not a mini-fridge in the room the first night, but when we returned from being out all day, they'd put one in there without me having to ask. The staff were friendly and didn't mind my kids and I playing soccer and throwing tennis balls in the parking lot. We were here for a day at Mammoth Cave, and if you just need a place to sleep between doing other things, I recommend this place.

The property is not the same in the pictures it smelled strongly of smoke we had to keep the door open because of the smell. We got 1 towel and wash cloth for 2 people they charged us a $100 deposit on site and said it was refundable and still have not recieved it back. The hours the operate are not the same as the ones posted on the door. We had to waiy until 8:30 to return keys and then called multiple times to try and see where to leave the keys and the lady that finally answered after 10 times of calling and mailbox being full said to leave keys in the room

Room was not ready at check-in time of 3pm. Was asked to come back in an hour or two. Upon entering the room was very disappointed as our room was nothing like advertised. Mattress on a platform, barely a foot from the ground. Wifi did not work in the room only in front of the entrance or inside.No mini fridge or coffee pot in the room. Tried to shower around 7pm and the water would not heat up, asked about the issue and again was told to wait a couple hours because the hotel's permanent tenants were all getting home from work and showering and there was only a 50 gallon water heater for the entire hotel. At 7 AM we went to the lobby for the free breakfast however the lights were off inside and the door was locked. Again at 9AM when we were ready to leave the lobby was empty and the door locked. Called the after hours number posted on the door multiple times with no answer. Had to return at 11AM to return the room key. The only plus to staying here was that the security deposit of $100 was refunded 48 hours after check out

Pros: The photos were accurate the room looked just like the pictures. The cost of the room was affordable.

Cons: On Expedia it said the cost for a pet was $30, but when I checked in I was told that was wrong and it was $50. I think they should have honored the $30. They said that they were trying to get that straighten out.
The room didn't have any hot water. We thought they may have been switched, but no. I told them when I checked us out that and was told something about changing water heaters and location of room. I was told that I needed to leave water running for 20-30 minutes.
Only one large towel to use between us, but since no hot water we didn't need it.
No breakfast, but on Expedia it said there was one. We ate at a place in Munfordville called Murray's Restaurant and I would highly recommend it. Very Good!
The AC/Heater was very loud when it came on during the night. Even noise cancelling head phones didn't work.
No WIFI in the room. Had to go to lobby to use it, but who wants to do that?

If you are looking for a bed to sleep in that is close to the attractions and is inexpensive then this is the place.

After having reserved this location 10 days in advance, OYO cancelled my reservation without any notice other than an email they sent 2 hours before check in, (of course I don't see it as I am driving there!). When I got there and found I had no room they offered no help. Just for curiosity I asked whether they had a continental breakfast or fridge/microwave in the rooms as advertised. They said no. Good thing Travelocity was able to help... their rep rebooked me a much better hotel for the same price nearby. I am actually very glad I did not have to stay here.

We stayed here mid July 2022. The carpet was very dirty and torn. The headboard on my bed was broken apart and pieces of it sitting beside the bed. The sheets were dirty. There was a microwave, but The fridge was missing. The walls were dirty and gouged. One hole in the wall about the size of two tennis balls add tape over it. I’m sorry to say we had nowhere else to go!

Employees were very nice and helpful but the room itself was shockingly unclean. Black mold in the bathroom, stains on the sheets, and all kinds of stuff on the ground including dog food, loose pills, and plastic waste. But ultimately the price was so good I wasn't even too bothered; this is a great deal if you're planning to spend most of your time at the national park anyway and just use the room to sleep. Free parking and no bugs! That's all you really need in this life

Thisnis under a different name, onlyba peice of paper on the door says oyo. Said they didnt have 2 beds like i prepaid for, told me to come back and they would tidy up a room for us. Came back to a sketchy room. One bed, and a futon. Futon was so thin you felt every board, no bedding for futon. Towels were so dirty after 5 mins in the room and the meth head vine of the property we packed up and went to another hotel. Cut into our trip money but better safe than sorry

When i arrived at around 9pm, there was only 1 room available. I toom it and went straight out to get dinner. When i returned i found the door open. Upon entering it smelled like mildew and animal urine. Burn marks all over the carpet and the bed wasnt not made up. When i went to the office the 2 kids running the place smelled of weed and were barefoot. They made up the bed and left. The whole night i didnt even sleep under the sheets because i couldn't tell if they would be clean. I left at 6am just to get out of there. When trying to check out i had to try 3 phone numbers to reach someone at which point they said leave the key in the room. I will never stay there again and will not recommend it. If anyone goes AVOID ROOM 105.

Wow where do I even start. First of all, the name outside of the motel doesn’t match the name that was on here to book with. Check in was ok, had a messy lobby. When we went into our room, we were hit with a bad odor. The room was disgusting. The floors and walls were badly stained, there were burn marks in the sheets with questionable stains, weird gunk on the sink faucet, towels were obviously dirty, and paper thin walls where we could hear everything next door. Had to go to the store to buy Clorox wipes to wipe and spray down everything. Towards the end of the night when we were getting ready for bed, we started to notice bugs crawling on the bed. We checked the bed and looked under the bed and found garbage from previous guests. The last straw was finding ticks on the pillows. We tried to check out and return the keys but no one was at the counter. We ended up having to drive half an hour away and pay an extra $100 to stay at somewhere more clean. We came back in the morning to officially check out and to leave a complaint and was told no refund would be issued and we were told that all the rooms are like that because the owner doesn’t put money into this place. Avoid this place at all costs. Pay the extra money to stay somewhere much cleaner!

Very questionable things were happening in the parking lot. I made reservations - after driving 12 hours, when I arrived the lady told me there wasn’t any available rooms! I told her I had reservations, she didn’t even ask for my name I reserved it under but just told me my room was canceled. I wasn’t never notified about it be canceled and was extremely angry. I had a pet with me and there were no other available pet friendly hotels near by, so I had no other choice but to pull over and sleep in my car feeling like a homeless person! It ruined my vacation experience and they really suck at communicating! They don’t care about the people who already made reservations, they’re just in it for the money.

This place was a disgusting, nasty, putrid, filthy mess. The place was already in a sketchy area that felt unsafe. Then you walk in and it looks unkempt. The staff isn’t like over friendly or helpful. Then, the room was worse. There were cigarette ashes all over the floor and in the bed. The bed sheets were stained with nasty brown stains. The staff refused to clean or change the sheets. They stated that the housekeeper had already cleaned the room and all the sheets look that way. I turned the key in and left. No way I could sleep in what must be a drug/prostitution room. The grossest place I’ve ever been and I travel a whole lot!

DON'T EVER STAY HERE😡

This place was terrible, im honestly surprised you have it on your site. As it was an affordable rate (lowest Ive seen) the name wasnt even the same as when u pull into the parking lot. This place is more of an extended stay, we had to wait for 30mins for them to even clean a room, when we finally got in we immediately left! The room was filthy, stained sheets with burn holes, didnt even have a proper blanket, no mini fridge, stains all over the carpet and had 2 towels for bathing and thats it! We were honestly worried about bed bugs and God knows what else. Friendly people but definitely not somewhere to feel safe & comfortable for the evening. And to top it off it was a non refundable room, what a crock of bs!! I would never recommend this place to anyone👎👎

Not clean

I expect than when I pay less than $50/ night I’m getting a budget room but this one was below my expectations. The sheets were stained or not cleaned and there was someone else’s hair on the towels. The room was supposed to be nonsmoking but it reeked of smoke. Also the hotel name is not the same on the sigh so after a 7h drive I had to pull up the hotel photo to make sure I was going to the correct place.

THIS IS THE WORST MOTEL IVE EVER STAYED AT! First of all, it’s not even called Oyo, the hotel had a different name. It was dirty, they had not changed the sheets and only attempted to “make the bed”. The sheets had shoe prints on them and was covered in hair. The towels were so dirty that they were black. As soon as I entered the room a cockroach ran across the bedside table. The lady at front desk was friendly, however she went to check the room before I checked in as they have had “problems with the rooms before”. She came back and said it was fine. It was far from fine! I left and went to another place. DONT STAY HERE.

Upon arrival there were what appeared to be local crackheads hanging out front. However they did not speak to us. They front desk clerk was friendly enough. We just needed a place to sleep. We got our key went to our room, it was not very clean, ( not vacuumed and obviously run down). Upon going into rest room we realized there is no soap, towels or toilet paper. Since we were going to grab a bite to eat we stopped by front desk to ask for towels ( clerk grabbed them fro a bin), toilet paper and soap. Then threw them in our truck to go grab food. Came back to our room and used the bathroom, which would mean I need to wash, so used the towel and felt it was dirty with crusty stuff. Looked at other towels, all were very dirty. Observed sheets closer to see stains all over and decided to leave. Took the towels to the front clerk and asked if he got towels out of dirty bin, he said yes maybe. I asked for my money back, he said I can’t help you with that. We left. It was the most disgusting place I ever saw, as a hotel.

The room was disgusting. Looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed between guests…crumbs, cat food, and balls of hair in the carpet. They say they offer breakfast, but that just consists of Little Debbie snack cakes and coffee or tea. Staff was friendly, but the manager was very rude and unprofessional.

I would not recommend this hotel. Nasty!!

Carpet was worse than filthy. One bath towel. No bath soap, shampoo, not even in the office. Morning coffee, office , to go breakfast bags were not ready, office was not open. No ice. Room smelled like smoke. Sheets had cigarette burns in them. But sheets were clean. I would not recommend this hotel or any OYO hotel.

I bought a hotel, and I arrived there was a hotel The room that we were offered the bed was covered in blood and hair Wormwood was vacuumed and very dirty Another room was cleaner. On the website I bought a room with breakfast. It turned out only coffee from 8-11 rm The offer was written for 3 people I had to ask for towels I think there is a difference between a motel and a hotel. If possible, return the money

This place is nothing how it looks in the pictures. This is more of an efficiency motel. There were people who were using a tall grill on the sidewalk out front of there hotel room. Our hotel room has a key to get into hotel. key does not say do not duplicate. Room had a bad smell and the ac was off. When the ac came on music behind the wall where the ac was would play. Loud sounds from train everytime it comes by. Our room was in desperate need of a new painting on every wall and door in our room.Our sheets were dirty we asked for clean ones to get handed stained/dirty sheets again.Wifi does not work in the room. Only outside the room & close to lobby.the carpets are disgustingly filthy.The ac had water damage all on the wall room probably needs to be checked for mold. Our refrigerator has somebody else's left over food in it.Our bathroom hadn't been cleaned at all.Floor had a dead bug along with a dead bug on the inside of the bathroom mirror.Bathroom sink had toothpaste marks from previous guests. Sink and showered weren't clean and had visible filth everywhere.Bathroom sink towel was Gross and looked like a towel you would use to clean floors with.They need to hire somebody to clean this place there's no way it's sanitary.This place deserves to be on hotel hell.It is worse than awful google reviews for this hotel! THEY ARE NOT LYING.the sign out front advertises different hotel with no mention anywhere of it being Oyo.Except a bed banner on the bed.

I far from need things perfect but this place was absolutely not even close to acceptable. The owner obviously takes no pride or even gives a sh!& about the place. Linens had holes. There was food on the side of one bed, something smeared on baseboard, the furniture came from a not so gently used 2nd hand store or something. We left shoes on at all times and would not have stayed if it hadn’t been a no refund booking. Would sleep in car before returning to this place
