The hotel is in need of a boost of energy. It lacked the core emphasis on hospitality. Overall, it is situated in a beautiful area. However, next time in the area, I will be looking to stay at the Hampton Inn. It is better kept with a more well rounded setup for daily practicality. Or, an inexpensive motel that is equally clean, similar condition exterior, yet, with a fraction of the price and inconvenience.

Room was great. The hallways, lobby and bar area were very cold (understand very cold out but they need to do something about this, you shouldnt have to wear a coat inside). Staff just seemed focused on doing what they need to do...just a simple good morning with eye contact.

Unfortunately with the heat not working in our room, it wasn’t as enjoyable as it could have been. Also the inconvenience of having to walk on the unplowed and unshoveled paths to the pool, spa and fitness area was not ideal. Equinox has so much potential but needs updates and improvements. It’s a bit outdated, but our stay was primarily enjoyable.

the hotel is UNSAFE. No heat- they give out space heaters to use in the rooms, and their sprinkler system is broken. We had to be moved from our room because our bathroom was leaking into the room below us such that the floor was going to cave in. The elevator inspections are expired. My husband and son slipped on ice on their sidewalk and fell. This place is a disaster waiting to happen- especially the space heaters and lack of sprinklers.

This may be the worst hotel in America. Markets itself as a luxury resort, when in reality it’s a dilapidated shell of a historic property. Restaurants closed, pool and hot tub closed, filthy room, non functioning bathroom in room, apathetic staff. Stay away and go to one of the other wonderful hotels in the area. We left and went to the reluctant panther hotel. Massive upgrade. Stay away. This place is a cash grab scam. I wish I had the last 24 hours back. -50 out of 10 stars.

Was surprised at the dirty floors in common area and in my room one of the curtain sheers was ripped, other curtains were hanging off hokks, caulking at sink looked old, cracked, carpets in staircase dirty. I fear this beautiful hotel is in a downward spiral.
One front desk person directed me to closed restaurants...

The room was clean and lovely, but the temperature was so hot! We could not get it to get cooler. Fortunately, we were able to open a window which did minimal to cool the room even though it was 12 degrees outside! I mentioned this when we checked out and the front desk did remove the resort fee, which was very nice of them.

I really wanted to love the Equinox and it is charming. However many aspects were disappointing. Service atvthecrestaurants was impossibly slow. It took over an hour to get breakfast - and not because there was a line waiting. Coffee is promised from 7 am to noon in the lobby (there is no coffee in the room), but they were out by 9:30. Their virtual person who answers the phone promised a Keurig and frig in the room, but there was none. The fireplaces were not kept going (we were told to avoid making it smoky, but still disappointing on a cold winter night). Staff seemed nice, but overwhelmed. It was a fine trip, but not great for those reasons.

There was no heat in the room. We ran it on high all night and they gave us a space heater (shows they knew the heat was broken?) and the room never got above 62 degrees. No other rooms were available in all of Manchester so we had to go home early.
The staff was apologetic but we were not the only room without heat (others at the front desk and at breakfast were trying to figure out what to do, too). We were told that it couldn’t be fixed during our stay. It’s a shame because the restaurant was good and the lobby was cozy, but this was clearly an ongoing issue with the heat that they did not fix

Helpful and attentive staff,
Lack of heat in some of the public areas like near the library was an issue, but they tried by keeping the fireplace going.
As a helpful hint- the fireplace area in the library was drafty and cold. You can go a long way toward fixing this by repairing or replacing that door that leads outside. There’s a 1 inch gap there.
Also, while this is an issue, close those 2 inside doors. That works.

Nice room, comfortable bed. This is an old grand hotel in tip top shape. We often stay in this type of hotel in NH and VT and found the Equinox to be the best maintained of them all. All the architectural class of its age in virtually new condition. Nice, reasonably priced onsite dining. We didn’t use the large indoor pool but it looked first class. Pleasant staff. We hope to return. Recommend “Ok for breakfast”, a 2nd floor breakfast & lunch restaurant downtown.

Beautiful property, wonderful views, loved our room, loved the huge indoor heated pool and the outdoor jacuzzi. Bar staff, food and drinks were fantastic at the on site bar/restaurant The Falcon, shout out to Maddie for being awesome. Bummer the steal house was closed the entirety of our stay (Sun-Weds), but what are ya gonna do. Would recommend, and would love to return next autumn.

Upon arrival, the front desk checked me in one of my rooms. The other room wasn’t available until later which was fine. But my second room was on a different floor and in a completely different wing of the hotel. My sister and I asked if our rooms could be closer together. We were told that wasn’t possible. Very disappointed with that. Some of the common areas were not very clean and the whole place needs TLC.

The hotel prominently promotes walking trails in and near on their property. While they provide maps no staff could explain how to access. The maps were very confusing. We set out and could not find a trail head. We finally used Google Maps and found that the nearest access was a few blocks away from the hotel and there was no parking. We were confronted by very unfriendly signs informing us that the trail was for homeowners and hotel guests only. An adjacent home had a sign informing us about guard dogs. The town, the hotel and their neighbors need to work out a way to make these trails more accessible and friendly to visitors. Other than this frustration, our stay was comfortable and delightful.

Historical Landmark. The building is full of history. The service and amenities are wonderful especially considering the history of the building. Beautiful place to stay, relax, and unwind. When we arrived the front desk had 2 people working with numerous check ins as there was a convention checking in as well as other guests. They were understaffed in many departments. The elevator rug needed replacement as it was dirty and worn. The side entrances were full of large spider webs and debris all the time it appeared no one every cleaned them. It was the disabled entrance. Our bathroom had a serious outdated issue. The hand rails in the tub were rusty and full of soap scum. The outside was in need of a refresh as well most of the iconic green shutters were broken/falling off. It just felt off from the beautiful iconic Equinox Inn of old when the owners took extreme pride in the quality of their quests experiences and comforts.

Hotels.com had outdoor pool listed as an amenity but there was only an indoor pool. The resort fee was $45 a person and pickle ball was an additional fee.

My husband and I stayed one night to celebrate our anniversary. The room was clean, roomy and comfortable. The hotel is huge in a beautiful surrounding with many activities included in the price. Swimming, bike riding and an easy drive into the main town. We would recommend the Equinox and plan on returning in the future for several nights.

I was excited to stay at the Equinox as it was a 4⭐️ hotel in Manchester, Vermont. It was always known as “the” place to stay. I was unfortunately quite disappointed with the stay. Our room was just plan gross. There was a huge water stain on the ceiling with peeling paint. The curtains were ripped. The carpet was filthy with stains on it. The kicker was the black mold in the grout around the tub. Fortunately, the beds appeared clean and were at least comfortable. The parking lot was a ways from the hotel. The only redeeming thing was that the staff was nice and tried to be accommodating. They claimed they didn’t have a different room for us (though there were rooms available when I tried to book a new one). I ended up being comped for the resort fee and was given a free night. It’s a elegant antique building, but it needs a multi million dollar make over. I won’t being staying there ever again. Try the Taconic down the street.

I’ve been a guest at the Equinox on and off for 30 years. Our family holds fond memories of Christmases, Thanksgivings, and other special occasions spent at this "former" grand hotel.

Unfortunately, the rest of this visit was far from peaceful—and wholly inconsistent with the standards and legacy of the Equinox.

When I entered my room, the drawers were all left open, the toilet seat was up, and it was immediately clear the room had not been properly serviced. The secondary AC unit didn’t work, leaving the room uncomfortably hot and making sleep impossible. The television was also non-functional, which was especially frustrating given the unfolding global events I wanted to follow.

By 8:00 a.m., I was woken by shouting from housekeeping staff in the hallway. I took the stairs to avoid the noise, only to encounter more shouting from staff on the stairwell. Hoping to reset the day, I grabbed a cup of coffee and headed to the fireplace lounge, only to find the area littered with leftover food, empty alcohol cups, and disheveled pillows—clear signs it had not been cleaned or reset for morning guests.

I reported these issues to the front desk and left multiple messages—one with the desk, two with the manager, one with Jackie, and one via the general reservation line. No one has followed up.

The facility is lovely. As much as the coffee set up near the lobby was good it is still better to have one in the room when you first wake up. The TV reception could be improved if possible. The hotel has an incredible structure and great potential, but unfortunately, my stay was not pleasant.

I chose this hotel because my son had a lacrosse tournament early Saturday morning, and I wanted to sleep well and be rested. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. We stayed in room 136, and the door noise throughout the night was constant and disturbing. There were also loud conversations in the hallway. As a result, we had a terrible night and barely slept.

We woke up early to have breakfast at the hotel, for which I paid separately. I was okay with the high price, as well as the high cost of the overall stay, but the issue wasn’t the money — it was the service. We waited a long time for a woman to come take our order. When our food finally arrived, my son decided he wanted the same pancakes I ordered, but we didn’t have time to place another order before the tournament. I told him to politely ask for an extra plate and eat one of mine.

The woman treated him so poorly that, by the time he returned with the plate (after a long wait), we had no time left and had to leave without eating. I paid a high price to be treated poorly and not even have breakfast. I also saw at least two other families leaving the breakfast area without eating due to the same terrible service.

This was definitely not the experience I was expecting.

That said, I want to highlight that the room was clean and comfortable, and the restaurant service at dinner was excellent.

Lovely place. Relatively reasonable pricing. But the parking and hotel entry was confusing. The parking is so far to walk. Not hard for me but it was hard for my husband who is disabled with one prosthetic leg. The food choices in the hotel was limited as well though we ate in the Falcon Restaurant and we loved the cocktails and the staff was overly attentive and kind. I don’t know but I guess I expected so much more. At least a breakfast included in the pricing. The room was also kind of dated. It served its purpose for what we needed which was for business for one day in Bennington. It was clean and reasonably priced.

everything on this trip was going wrong until I got to the equinox. Expensive but worth every penny no better way to find peace when everything is falling apart.
I walked in drenched because I was caught in a down pour while Mountain Biking. they let me bring the bikes to the room and the spa was just what i needed. great food and very welcoming.

We had a great visit to the Equinox. It feels like they have improved customer service and quality over the last couple years to the feeling it has when I went as a kid. Love the free coffee 24/7 in the lobby, the fireplaces going in the sitting areas, and cleanliness of the resort. I had a great massage at the spa, it really helped me to relax into a two night getaway. Our room was just a queen room on the first floor, very simple, but clean and updated. We got a great deal on it. We love the location of the Equinox to town and walked most places. We didn't eat at the Equinox this trip, but the hotel was bustling in the Falcon bar and tavern area. Overall a lovely getaway at one of our favorite places to stay.
