This hotel was so great. The staff were fantastic - friendly, helpful, kind. The property was clean and safe. Our room was fantastic; we had a suite, and the size was so luxurious! The shower wasn't great; very small and water got everywhere no matter what we did. But that's seriously my only critique. Everything else about this place was great. I would totally stay here again if I were in Oslo.

Hotel is in a great location to tour the city of Oslo. Great restaurants and pubs all conveniently located within walking distance. The junior suite was perfect for our needs and with all the required amenities you would need. The restaurant was comfortable and the breakfast had a good selection and plenty of variety for all travelers. On arrival the receptionist could not have been more helpful and made you feel welcome as soon as you entered. Would definitely stay here again.

incredibly LOUD locayion

If you’re staying here for a great location for walking or if you want an incredible breakfast this is your spot! If you want any sleep!! This is NOT your place to stay. When I mentioned how incredibly loud it is at night with the bars and very loud music and taxi cabs picking and dropping off loud drunk people, the front desk said yes it is and shared with me next time to request a room on the backside of the hotel higher up than the second floor. How would I know that? I was traveling with my 75+ parents from the states and they were exhausted from lack of sleep. I would just go for the breakfast and stay somewhere else.

We had booked a non-smoking Superior room and obviously paid extra for it. We were given an Accessible/Handicap room (522) which had a very inconvenient bathroom. On addressing this with the reception we were told that it wasn't really an Accessible/Handicap room!!! I've been travelling for 50+ years and know such a room when I see it. Poor experience for a Thon hotel - they should be ashamed giving us the incorrect room and then lying to us.

The front desk staff was very helpful. The room was smaller than expected and outdated. It was very clean.

There was a bar across from the hotel that doesn’t close until 3:00 AM and it was extremely loud.

The Thon Rosenkrants was perfect for our stay in Oslo. We picked it for the convenient location to the main attractions & the breakfast bar and it exceeded our expectations. The breakfast bar was over the top and was one of the best that we’ve ever had at a hotel in Europe. It had an amazing selection of breakfast items that held us all day until dinner resulting in us only having to buy one meal per day. Stenili’s coffee that she served was a highlight of our stay! The convenience was also nice since it was so close to a tram station and the city center. We highly recommend this hotel!

Breakfast alone is worth staying here. The selection is outstanding, from fresh breads, fruits, salads, pastries, veggies to an array of the usual eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes one expects. Really fine quality, assortment, and presentation. The only problem is deciding what NOT to eat!

Another impressive feature was the staff. To a person, staff was friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, and personable.

The room was fine, not exciting but perfectly comfortable. If there was anything we found worthy of criticism it was the shower stall with two hinged glass doors. If the two were not perfectly aligned, the bathroom floor would get very wet and slippery. And, too, perhaps the room numbers could be a bit smaller! The huge numbers are something of an eyesore.

The addition of a luggage cart guests can use, especially since the hotel has no porter, would enhance the property and not be a big expense.

There is nothing particularly wrong with the hotel but I left not super impressed. There is a nice eighth floor lounge, which provides some extra space but the hotel rooms are tiny, although well appointed. The shower is brilliant. But the location is fine, but not really beautiful or exciting. Perhaps the best part of the hotel is the breakfast which is really phenomenal. The staff at the restaurant were great. The staff at the front desk was only OK.

The pillows we were given were terrible. Basically 4 small cushions. They made sleeping very difficult. In hindsight I should have probably asked for an alternative but I assumed this was the standard throughout the hotel. This rather ruined the stay for me as I didn’t sleep well on any of the nights.

We stayed at the Thon Rosenkrantz for 4 nights. From the moment we were met by a very pleasant and helpful Aksel at the front desk, to our beautiful room on the 8th floor, to the outstanding breakfast service, both food and staff, and the most delightful and caring housekeeping staff member throughout our week, we enjoyed the hotel and all of the staff immensely. The location is great. The Thon Rosenkrantz is a truly outstanding 5 star hotel.

This place is better in person than expected from potatoes. Great coffee and carbonated water in the lounge. The included breakfast was one of the best breakfasts we had on our European vacation. All staff are very friendly and helpful.
If you’re a light sleeper, don’t get a room facing the street as there a few pubs right there and you can here the people having ag good time even through the double paned windows even on the 5th floor. It seemed to stop about 1am.

A+ nice clean room plus amazing breakfast buffet!

We arrived at check in travel weary from a 14+ travel day arriving at 22:00, the warm and kind welcome at check in was a good indication of how wonderful our stay was. The room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. The star of the show is the breakfast buffet, my children said it was one of their highlights of the entire trip!
The staff was above and beyond kind and accommodating. Will book another room with this company again soon!

Absolutely Marvelous

Our stay was nothing short of marvelous. The room was quiet, spacious, and welcoming. It was a bit confusing as to how we could adjust the room temperature, but we were just fine. It sounds minor, but it’s absolutely not: there were a lot of electrical outlets. When charging phones and other electronics, this is a big deal.

Breakfast was out of this world! Selections, service, atmosphere… it was all first class. Kudos especially to the gentleman making the eggs and bacon… so friendly and jovial. A big disappointment was having to check out and leave so early in the morning (5:30) to catch our train, but the gentleman at the front desk provided us with takeaway bags with sandwiches, fruit, yogurt, and juice! A very helpful start to the day.

We enjoyed the rooftop lounge a couple of times, just to relax and enjoy a snack. So relaxing after a full day of exploring Oslo.

This is on my short list of spots to suggest to friends visiting Norway.

Excellent except for the room

We rated this only a 3 mainly because of the room. It was not just small but not well thought out. No bureau but a rather large wooden piece for an ironing board and iron. No mirror except in the bathroom and no toiletries.
The staff was friendly and helpful, the hotel spotless and the breakfast outstanding.

Great location from city center and train/metro, fantastic breakfast, comfortable bed, groceries/shopping nearby. Room was smallish by US standards, but normal size of the 3 we stayed at in Scandanavia. Had stocked minifridge, space to add 1-2 sodas or takeaway. They helped book a small bus to airport for our group cheaper than uber or train.

It's a good hotel but too noisy!

This hotel was in a great location with friendly staff and a great restaurant. They also have a nice lounge upstairs for guests to relax in. My complaint is that the noise cancelling feature of the room is either minimal or completely missing. The front desk offered me a room with street view and I gladly accepted. Little did I know that there's all kinds of party noises that would either come up from the streets at 3-5 am or from other guests rooms! Also, the city light rail is right outside the hotel so we get to listen to the electrical humming all the time. It was hard to sleep during most of our stay unless you're extremely exhausted and I'm not a light sleeper.

First time I give a property two stars. Our “studio” was so small it would not even be enough for one person with luggage. And I have a picture to show it. The hall entrance was so narrow that two people with jackets cannot go past each other. The closet was so small it could hardly accommodate one carryon.the bed on one side had a table that you had to move to get into the bed and a space so narrow (less than 8”) on the other side against the window, that you had to scuttle sideways if you wanted to get to bed that way.
When you travel to tromso, you carry bulky cold weather clothes and coats, so you need room for luggage. Our room had very little, so we had to open one carryon on top of the kitchen counter.
The kitchen did not even have paper towels, or any towels. The room had one chair ( the reservation was for two people) and a narrow padded bench.
The bathroom: the shower was so small that when you opened the doors, one bumped against the sink and another against the toilet.
The price: we paid over $300/night and they charged cleaning fees. Before we left, we got an email with a list of what we need to do including washing the dishes and taking out the trash. So what is the cleaning fee for?

First of all, I need to commend the front desk staff for being so friendly and helpful! There was not a single time we passed by the desk that we weren't greeted by the staff. I also greatly appreciated being able to check in early and leave our bags, rather than finding somewhere to store them. Our room had a great view and although the room was small, we found it quite comfortable. The location is great, walking distance to some great shops, restaurants, and the transit system is very robust in this area. There was a bit of noise from the street, so if you are sensitive to that, you may want to use some ear plugs. At the end of the day, I would gladly stay at another Thon hotel.

Hotel closed and didn’t let me know

I had booked to stay at this hotel, but when I arrived, it turned out that the hotel had decided to close. There had been no warning that this was happening. I did find an email from the day before the booking started in Norwegian that mentioned a booking at another hotel I’d never heard of, which I then found and they told me that I now had a booking there. This hotel was not one that I would have never booked to stay in, but I was now left with no option but to stay there. And looking back, there was no communication that my booking had been changed.
