Food was great - with the full-board option it was probably the highest quality “all-inclusive” experience we had. Beach, pool, and water sports were all great. The resort itself is nice but still feels African which is why we booked it originally.

Everything was wonderful, starting with impeccable service, staff is so attentive and make you feel so welcome. The location and the beach is stunning, the rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious, the restaurant has an excellent menu. I highly recommend! And I also loved the spa!

Wonderful Boutique Hotel with a nearby 'sister' hotel. We took the half board plan (breakfast and dinner) and at lunch dined at some of the other near by resorts. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful everyday. The food was quite good at both resorts. The intimacy of this resort was great. Beach has some of the finest, softest white sand we've ever walked on. What a joy to stay here. Highly recommend.

Setting was lovely as were the staff. The food was very good but the room was very basic. Very small, no chair and nowhere to put luggage, only on the floor which was difficult and a trip hazard. Our outside space was great but our room was under the kitchen which was very noisy. Overall way too expensive for what we got.

Highly recommend staying at Mvuvi if staying on the east side of the island! Staff was always attentive and made sure our stay was wonderful. Both restaurants were fantastic! It was easy to book all of our excursions through Mvuvi and made it super convenient. Overall, we had a fantastic stay.

Beach was attended to each day in front of the property,but everything to the left and right had a lot of trash.The description of the property on Expedia was misleading,They failed to mention the two properties are about a 100 yards apart.The rooms were misrepresented,one property is actually called the Beach Lounge which is the newer of the two properties.

This was my best hotel stay in Zanibar. The staff was great and the dining service was so delicious! You can dine at both hotels. The body scrub massage is a must. The rooms was very clean and quiet. They accommodated my coconut allergies by going out buying me body wash, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner.

This is the second time I visit Mvuvi (July 2023). On the positive side the new hotel is very nice especially the new swimming pool. The food is unfortunately not the same standard as last year and inconcistent. Sometimes very good and sometimes disappointing. The service is also too slow. I also believe the prices for excursions and watersports are too high. We did all activities outside of the hotel at much lower costs.

Beyond a beautiful setting, the staff and service make Mvuvi very special. Everyone is kind and helpful — including the drivers they use. They use a WhatsApp group to inform you of opportunities and activities. And a direct WhatsApp to organize transfers and answer questions. The breakfasts are delicious. I also loved the salt water pool. I stayed on the beach lounge side of the property in room 16 (up stairs) my colleague stayed in the room below (12) that had convenient walk out. Both had sea view.

Beautiful scenic property. small boutique hotel that still has all you need. Chef customized our plant based meals every day and everyone was well-prepared and tasty. Staff are so helpful and kind. Watershoes being available are a big plus for the rocky areas of the beach. Only thing I missed was having a gym. Tried running on the beach but some folks try to sell you things and harass a little. They may be harmless but it’s awkward and hard to enjoy a run when you have to avoid those people. Otherwise we loved our stay there!

This was an amazing boutique property with pleasant and very helpful staff. With all that said, the only negative is the immediate area/neighborhood outside of the gate. The management should spend more to enhance the standard of the area and help the people living in that area. This would make it more inviting for guests like us who wanted to go fora walk the area.

Everything I read was true!

When you book a hotel you always read reviews with a pinch of salt. This hotel has fantastic reviews and with good reason. Everything from the welcome to our departure was absolutely first class without exception. A few members of staff deserve a special mention - Bernard, Mtoto, Nema and Baracka all helped make our stay extra special. The staff in general are exceptional including the kitchen staff who turn out superb food time after time and catered to my wife’s vegetarian requirements admirably.
Would we stay again? Yes, in a heartbeat.

Grace and her staff made us feel very special during our entire stay. The intimate resort of 9 rooms exceeded our expectations. The food at every meal was outstanding..coming from foodies who run restaurants!! Every request was met with “yes..of course”. I spent four relaxing days at Mvuvi Boutique Resorts in Kiwengwa, Zanzibar. The staff was amazing, the beach was beautiful, and the food was delicious. This is a great spot for unwinding after a safari or any other adventure. It was affordable and intimate. I also had one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!

Amazing small hotel with crazily good service.

This was a perfect boutique hotel - exceptionally pretty and with everything we were looking for. The rooms are just metres from the beach, the food is extremely good, and the team can't be beaten. Getting up at 3.50am to gift us fresh fruit for a trip was absolutely exceptional but in keeping with the service we received throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble, and they also went out of their way to make sure that they accommodated our (vegan) dietary requirements. Cannot recommend too highly.

Amazing stay at Mvuvi. Very secluded (1h from Stonetown), intimate and private. Unfortunately the weather was not cooperative but we had a chance to enjoy the great food, the private beach and walk around the shore. I would probably chose to explore another area next time with more things to do around (not as secluded).

LOVED EVERYTHING!!!!

It was a beautiful, natural property that felt like home. There were not too many rooms, so there were not too many guests, and we always felt comfortable. The rooms and outdoor spaces were all very naturally and tastefully done and were all cleaned multiple times per day.

Everything always worked, was always clean, and everything was thought of in advance. A perfect example of this was that on the last day, when we were going to the airport (at 2:45am) Grace was awake to see us off, and the kitchen staff had packed our favorite breakfast for us (they even remembered what we liked)!

We had only planned to stay there for 3 days, but extended our stay for 7 days because we loved it so much.

Grace and Neema were wonderfully accommodating, arranging trips for us on short notice - and everyone they put us in contact with (drivers, tour guides, kite-surfing instructors) was extremely kind and generous.

A special thank you also to Baracka, Fareeda, Veronica and Victoria for always being so accommodating and friendly.

Vacation never felt like this before. In other places you still feel like you’re thinking of things, looking for things, feeling somehow not at home… This was the first time I’ve gone on a vacation and really understood the meaning of that word. No worries at all, hakuna matata.

The property itself was beautiful and clean. The staff was very kind and helpfull whenever we had any request. There are many possibilities for trips. There is a variety for food and drinks.
ATTENTION. If you book fullboard the drinks like soft drinks, water and cocktails are not included. Still everyday they provide a bottle of water.
If you visit the beach there are many beach boys which try to sell you Accessoires and Trips.
Nevertheless you have your own area on the beach which they cannot enter infront of the Hotel.

Communication was not the greatest with staff which made my stay a bit stressful. Cute property if you’re traveling solo, coupleor small family. Wouldnt recommend for groups. Amenities are limited. And the food is subpar. Luckily there are other food options in the area.

Very small boutique resort in Kiwengwa which has direct access to the beach. The staff and service is exceptional and the dining and food was very delicious. The room is very rustic yet comfortable however it comes with minimal and basic amenities. My wife had two massages in the spa which were very relaxing. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a hotel in North East Zanzibar. The only minor hiccup was that I had purchased Half Board however, there was a miscommunication between Expedia and the Hotel and this issue was promptly resolved.

We couldn’t speak more highly of this wonderful hotel. The staff were so attentive and made us feel like we were the only guests staying there. The hotel itself was beautiful, quiet and with so many lovely attentions to detail. The moment we arrived we felt instantly relaxed and welcome. No task was too big or small for the team there, from helping us get our lost bag at the airport, to organising incredible days out and surprising us with a beautifully romantic dinner on the beach for our final evening; everything was so thoughtful and we really didn’t want to leave. I can’t think of a better way to describe my stay at the Mvuvi resort in Zanzibar. I had originally booked for 4 nights but ended up staying 8 nights.

The location is perfect, the beach has pristine clear water, the rooms are clean, the stuff is friendly and helpful, the hotel is very well maintained, the menu is accommodating for all tastes,
and so on….

I would like to personally thank the manager C for making my experience in Zanzibar unforgettable.

Height recommend this beautiful boutique resort.

We loved the location on the beach and the private area with a guard. The food was lovely and well presented. The room had everything we needed but did smell a bit damp. I think the moisture in the humid air is hard to control. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Grace went out of her way to make our trip relaxing. We loved Samwell a newish trainee who works very hard and has a great sense of humour. My only criticism is that no fresh coffee is offered or available at the hotel. I had to go next door to get my fix. We would definitely visit again and bring the cafetière. Shame with all the lovely African coffee on offer.

We had 2 rooms for our family at Mvuvi which is on the lovely Kiwengwa beach with powder white sand and beautiful turquoise water. The resort is small, private and a bit rustic but fit our family perfectly. If you are looking for a big, party place, keep looking. The staff led by Grace was very attentive and always available. Grace helped us with excursions and even gave us a partial refund when we were disappointed in one outing. She also helped us when there was a problem with something we had booked ahead of time and it worked out great. The food at Mvuvi is outstanding! There were good vegetarian options as well. I would have preferred regular coffee rather than instant but that is minor. The dining room is upstairs with a lovely view. WiFi is spotty and only worked for us in the dining room but I think that is quite common in Zanzibar. Thank you Grace and everyone at Mvuvi for making our stay so special!

Where shall I begin...? From the rose water they provide to wash your hands and the delicious juice they offer at arrival or the amazing hospitality ?

Grace, has been an amazing host. Has arranged my excursions based on my schedule and needs. I was in need of bandaids and she went above and beyond on getting some from the pharmacy and bringing them directly to me!!!

Paradise and a trained chef to prepare the meals!

Everything about Mvuvi resort was EXCELLENT. the hotel is on a white sand beach with its own private area. There is a reef just off the beach with many fish and some healthy coral-reached by a dhow(small boat that you stand up in) A \"captain\" sails the boat. Our room was a good size with fan and aircon and was spotless. Always had HOT showers., The hotel staff (organised by Grace)were so obliging-- anything we asked about or wanted they sorted. This included a car and driver for a half day-cost 35$ We had half board and the food was really good. Choices for breakfast and a four course meal for dinner which you chose after breakfast.The food was cooked to perfection and served quietly and professionally .We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a truely relaxed time in a paradise location.

Beautiful Boutique Hotel directly at the Beach of Zanzibar East Coast.
The rooms are spacious with a tasteful arranged Bedroom, attached very functional wardrobe and huge bathroom.
The outside terraces is located opposite the small pool.
The Main Building with the First Floor Restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and provides a great view to the beach and ocean.
The team around Mr. Alessandro was more than lovely, served and helped always with a smile. They arranged also our tours (Scuba Diving with One Ocean, Spice Farm, Stone Town, Sandbank and Prison Island) perfectly. Homemade bisquits, tarts, bread and buns tasted so delicious, hard to stop. The dinner was always a highlight with generally 2 options of 4 courses to choose and the chef put a lot of effort to let us have every day a new and different exprience. It was the best decision to stay in the small and cozy resort. If you want to calm down quietly, enjoy tasty food, good massages and be surrounded by very professional staff, this is the place to go. There is no internet in the room, but in the dinning area, library and the courtyard.

Highly recommended - looks better in real life!

The place looks like Paradise.

An extra special effort was made to manage our dietary requirements (gluten-free and vegetarian). They made me special gluten free pancakes and rice bread which was highly appreciated (although only one chef made really good pancakes, I noticed on her day off that the pancakes were not great!)

A few things got lost in translation with the local staff. Their English was excellent, but sometimes I would have to take a bit of extra time to explain what I wanted. Once they understood what you wanted they would go the extra mile to help. Millie - the lovely Italian lady in charge - was great at anticipating our needs and made sure that we were well looked after throughout.

The hotel was primarily couples but we were a group of friends. Having climbed Kilimanjaro beforehand, we were after a quiet break so it was perfect. The other resorts further along the beach were much bigger and louder, and didn't have the exclusive, peaceful feel of this boutique. The staff also made an extra special effort to keep our part of the beach clean.

We were a group of 5 so we had one double and one triple room. In the triple room that we had, there was two nice 4-poster beds and then a makeshift bed in the corner. The makeshift was comfortable enough but if you are travelling as a three you might like to let the person in the makeshift bed pay a bit less or rotate beds.

Great little resort!

With only six rooms the hotel never feels crowded or too busy. It also means that as a guest you get to know the staff and they get to know and anticipate your preferences. Great for young families or couples on a quiet getaway. Food is excellent and varied. The chief is creative and attentive to fusing local foods with formal European foundations. Her seared fresh tuna and Mango stack was both surprising and inspired.

Mvuvi is a lovely little resort. It is quiet and relaxed. The manager--Alessandro--works hard to make each and every person feel at home. From the beginning, he addresses each guest by name, making each person feel special. On Easter Sunday, each test was surprised by an Easter basket, and one night, he surprised the youngest guest with a birthday guest. The food is excellent, and each meal gives the small number of guests the opportunity to meet and great each other. After only one day, everyone knew everyone else. It was a lovely way to spend time in a small, exotic corner of the world. I would recommend Mvuvi to anyone who is looking for a quiet getaway.

This is a friendly, small hotel, that gives a personal service to guest who I found to be very accommodating. My rooms was a nice size, simple and very clean, and has working fans and air-condition. Please note the Wi-Fi connection was not great and is not available in your rooms which may be a good or bad thing? There was no fridge in the room so you can not keep drinks/water cold in your room. The food is all freshly made on site and there is a good selection for breakfast including really nice doughnuts, dinner is quite late in from around 7.30pm (this is not a buffet), you are served a four course meal, again freshly made, good quality and tasty with at lot Italian inspired dishes, personally I would have like to have some more options of traditional dishes from Zanzibar, but the pasta is very good here. I did need to have lunch as the portions are generally conservative so dinner and breakfast was not enough for me. The grounds are very attractive and well kept the best looking along this beach. This hotel also clean the beach every morning outside the hotel removing rubbish and seaweed, most other hotels do not clean the beach which means that other parts of the beach can have rubbish, plastic and seaweed which is very sad as its a beautiful place. Overall I would recommend this hotel if someone wanting to stay in this area. The staff take pride in their hotel, beach, service and guests and make you feel very welcomed like I was in a personal retreat.

Lovely hotel on fantastic beach

We loved this place, food excellent, staff amazing, and a quiet beach with stunning views and powder soft sand. Snorkeling available via 10 minute sail boat ride to the reef/sand bar--snorkeling great and sail so relaxing. Jozani monkeys are a 45 minute drive away, and swim with the turtles at the aquarium 30 minutes away. Visit the caves and bats 10 minutes away. Alessandro was a fantastic host and always checking that everything is to your liking, as well as arranging any tour you wish for. Food is a set dinner every night with 2 choices for every course, although they are happy to substitute for special diets (i am vegetarian and the selections were wonderful). Airport transfer easy and in a nice comfortable air conditioned van. Highly recommend.

We stayed 12 nights and had the most wonderful and realxing time. Mvuvi is small, intimate, well run and well cared for. Alessandro and his team run everything very smoothly and cannot do enough for their guests. We could not fault the meals: buffet breakfasts and 4 course dinners. It was all delicious. The rooms are lovely and the gardens are beautiful. We noticed guests from the larger resorts up the beach look longingly at Mvuvi!

The ambience at Mvuvvi is rarely found ,so relaxing you need to remember to breath...we came from royal Zanzibar at Nungwi to finish our holiday..Our only regret was we didn't stay at Mvuvvi the whole time .. Book your stay with this place the reviews are a credit to the attentive owner & his great staff

We loved everything about this hotel.

It was the perfect hotel. We loved everything about this hotel. The hotel was quiet, relaxing, clean and the atmosphere was beautiful. There could be internet access in the rooms. Perfect location on the beach.

The employees were wonderful, always with a smile. Disappointing that there was no diet coke nor coke zero and none to be found, or that is what I was told by the management. We bought some on the way to the hotel from a market but the management would not allow us to refrigerate it, not even one a day, and there was minimal ice so we had to drink it room temperature and we were told we could not drink it in the eating area, only in our room. Big turn off from day 1!!!

Friendly, small resort, staff very helpful.

We booked this stay from web reviews and were not disappointed. The manager Alessandro was a lively and helpful guy who responded to all our requests without delay. He knew the local area, and had good suggestions for activities. He arranged for guests to be picked up for a scuba and snorkelling expedition at a nearby resort. He also knows the local taxi drivers and no request was too small for him.
The staff were very polite and friendly and the food was tasty. Being so small (only 6 rooms), it is not at all a pretentious place and there were plenty of places to sit and relax, both in the main lounge, inside and outside. Nicely decorated and landscaped. There are sunbathing chairs for each unit behind a wall separating the compound from the beach, which keeps guests privacy. Also a nicely maintained stretch of white sand public beach with shallow water to wade out quite a distance. Not much bother from beach touts, and the staff kept an eye on this. Also a small fresh water pool with sunny poolside chairs, and a gazebo for massage. Laundry service.

Overall, a most relaxing stay. Take a book.

We loved every minute at this resort. It is only small - 6 rooms - but that was the reason we booked it. It has a lovely beach, the rooms are very quiet as they don't directly attach to the room next door, and the staff are great. We stayed for 8 nights and were celebrating our anniversary - and were surprised on our last night with a romantic crayfish/seafood dinner. We were happy we went in the low season as there are big resorts all along the beach, but we pretty much had the beach to ourselves most of the time. There is a very good diving place only a few minutes walk up the beach at one of the big resorts which we used for a few dives in between sight seeing. The management couldn't do enough for you and were always approachable for queries and suggestions. The whole experience was great and we would love to come back. Definitely the best resort on this stretch of beach!

You cannot have more than this. Excellent position, quiet, large rooms well equipped, with lovely forniture, rooms are resetted twice a day. Cuisine is fantastic, menu change everyday with International and local dishes. It is a wonderful place where staying in Zanzibar.
